#MAGFAB: Introducing the Stars of Blue Origin’s All-Female Flight for ELLE Magazine:

Aisha Bowe, Amanda Nguyen, Lauren Sánchez, Gayle King, Katy Perry, and Kerianne Flynn
Blue Origin’s historic all-female space crew, Katy Perry, Lauren Sánchez, Gayle King, Aisha Bowe, Amanda Nguyen, and Kerianne Flynn assembled in person for the very first time for a special ELLE April digital cover. There had been a couple of one-on-one hangouts and video calls ahead of this meeting, but their cover shoot marked their first chance to gather together as a team with the only other women on Earth who could understand how they are feeling.
Blue Origin Flight NS-31, set to take off on April 14, is the first crew made up solely of women since Russian astronaut Valentina Tereshkova’s solo space flight in 1963. It will also be among the most diverse set of women to ever go to space at once. “All of these women are storytellers in their own right,” says Sánchez, who led the organization of the historic mission. “They’re going to go up to space and be able to spread what they felt in different ways.”
The entire trip is only expected to last 11 minutes, and the women will be going up in a rocket that flies itself, allowing each of them to enjoy the flight as passengers. Once they reach space, they’ll be able to float around the rocket, experiencing weightlessness and looking out the windows at the universe and Earth below for about four minutes before coming back down.

Nice!

#RHOA: Newbie Kelli Ferrell Divorce Judgment Revealed
Real Housewives of Atlanta newbie Kelli Ferrell’s bitter divorce from her ex-husband Chuvalo Ferrell was officially finalized weeks after he was thrown in jail for contempt, In Touch can exclusively report.

In Touch obtained the final judgment and decree signed by the court on September 23, 2024. The judgment noted that exes appeared before the court on two separate occasions in August 2024.
After reviewing the evidence, the judge reached a decision on the division of property and support.
Kelli filed for divorce in 2022. The exes share three children: Chance, born 2012, and twins, Chasiti and Chelsi, born 2015. Kelli has an older daughter named Chloe from a previous relationship.

The court ordered the parties to share joint legal custody. Kelli was awarded primary custody and will have the right to make any decisions regarding the child’s education and non-emergency healthcare. Chuvalo will be entitled to visitation with the children.
He was ordered to pay $3,991 per month in child support and maintain health insurance for his offspring. The court ordered the exes to split the proceeds from the sale of their marital home.
Kelli was awarded $175,000 and $90,000 went to Chuvalo. “The parties owned and operated a restaurant together during the marriage, Nana’s Chicken N Waffles, and through that business venture, the parties incurred various debts, As it relates to the marital debts, the parties guaranteed multiple business loans from various third parties and creditors,” the order read.

“During their separation, the parties defaulted on accrued federal sales taxes and Georgia state tax liabilities stemming from business operations from 2017 to 2022,” the filing noted.
The court laid out who will pay each debt. The judgment noted that during the parties separation, Chuvalo “disposed of approximately $790,000 of marital assets.”
The judge said, “Although [Chuvalo] disposed of numerous marital assets, [Kelli] testified that several of the items were gifts the parties gave one another during their marriage.”

Kelli was awarded all household furniture worth $45,000, a 2021 Navy Blue Cadillac Escalade, Rolex Oyster wristwatch, diamond necklace and her wedding ring set. The settlement comes weeks after Chuvalo was locked up for failing to pay child support.
On August 7, the judge granted Kelli’s request to throw Chuvalo behind bars over money owed. The court ordered Chuvalo to stay behind bars until he coughed up $14,889.

Jail records obtained by In Touch showed Chuvalo was booked into the Rockdale County jail on August 7.
Kelli’s ex was released on August 14, 2024, after posting bond. In her initial divorce petition, Kelli listed the date of marriage as August 20, 2011, and the date of separation as January 2022. She demanded sole custody of the kids.

Chuvalo demanded joint legal and physical custody.
Chuvalo’s rep previously told In Touch, “Mr. Ferrell appreciates the interest in his ongoing personal matters, but he is committed to focusing on his family and professional responsibilities during this challenging time. It is important to note that the details surrounding his divorce from Kelli Potter-Ferrell are complex and sensitive. Mr. Ferrell has consistently sought to resolve these issues amicably and in the best interests of all parties involved, particularly their children.”

Earlier this year, it was announced Kelli would be joining season 16 of Real Housewives of Atlanta.

#HipHopNews: Drake Celebrates Judge Rejecting UMG’s Attempt To Delay “Not Like Us” Legal Proceedings
Drake is ready to unearth Universal Music Group (UMG)’s secrets. In a pre-trial conference held on Wednesday (April 2) in New York, Judge Jeanette Vargas ruled in favor of the Canadian rapper, denying the label’s motion to stay discovery in his defamation lawsuit against Kendrick Lamar‘s “Not Like Us.”

According to reporter Meghann Cuniff, Drake and his lead attorney, Michael Gottlieb, celebrated with a press release that read, “Now it’s time to see what UMG was so desperately trying to hide.”
They can now proceed with his own request to procure documents including K. Dot’s contracts with UMG as well as metrics that determined compensation, bonuses, and more for Interscope CEO John Janick and other executives over the past five years.

UMG filed the motion on March 18, per Variety, claiming that the “NOKIA” rapper’s initial round of discovery requests would cause “undue burden” and “require costly collection and review of large swaths of hard-copy and electronic data sets, contracts and agreements, and communications.”

Back in January, Drake sued UMG for defamation, harassment, and spreading the “false and malicious narrative” that he is a pedophile as heard on “Not Like Us.” He claimed Universal knew Lamar’s lyrics and images from the Grammy-winning record‘s music video were false and dangerous, but still continued to promote it for profit. He also accused the label of conspiring with Spotify to “falsely inflate streaming numbers” for “Not Like Us.” That claim has since been denied by both companies.

UMG, in turn, filed a motion to dismiss the lawsuit entirely just last month, claiming that he was only suing because he “lost a rap battle.”
It read, “Instead of accepting the loss like the unbothered rap artist he often claims to be, he has sued his own record label in a misguided attempt to salve his wounds. Plaintiff’s Complaint is utterly without merit and should be dismissed with prejudice.”
Judge Vargas scheduled a hearing on the motion to dismiss the lawsuit for June 30.

Tasha Smith Gives an Update On ‘Why Did I Get Married 3:’ It’s “Probably Not” Happening

People are talking about Why Did I Get Married 3 again. The chatter started after Tasha Smith was asked to provide an update about the movie’s arrival during her recent appearance on The Breakfast Club.
While promoting the new season of her Netflix series, Survival Of The Thickest, the actress shut down any fodder about the potential film. “Girl, I am not talking about that,” she quipped.

Host Loren Lorosa then asked if her silence on the matter meant the third installment of the beloved franchise wasn’t happening.
Smith replied, “Probably not and it ain’t because I’m busy.” She joked, “Tyler takes what— three days to do a movie? Who ain’t got a weekend, Tyler? I mean, like seriously. Who ain’t got a weekend? Don’t get me started.”

The veteran actress has already expressed interest in reprising her role as Angela. “Of course, I wanna do it. Why’d he troll me like that?” Smith continued before really shutting down the conversation. “I refuse to answer more questions concerning that,” the star stated, tight-lipped.

The third installment of Why Did I Get Married? was first teased back in October 2024. Richard T. Jones (Mike) joked about making Sheila (Jill Scott) drive again, which caused a domino effect of reactions leading to the cast (sans Janet Jackson and Malik Yoba) making a response video of their own.
Scott (who posted on behalf of herself and fictional husband Lamman Rucker), Smith, Sharon Leal (Diane), Michael Jai White (Marcus), and even Trina (Denise Boutte) had fans all riled up at the hint of them reuniting for one last showdown.

Tyler Perry, who created the franchise and starred in both films, also got the peoples’ hopes up when he posted a photo of a first draft entitled Why Did I Get Married Again. But, the studio owner appeared on Sherri just a few months later to admit that the movie might not be happening after all.
“Everybody’s doing different things. Janet’s on tour. Jill’s on tour. I got a few things going on. Michael Jai and Tasha— everybody’s got things going on. Richard T’s on a hit show, so timing would have to fall in place and everything else would have to fall in place,” he confessed.

Ts Madison launches home for Black transgender women
Ts Madison has unveiled the Ts Madison Starter House, a groundbreaking transitional home specifically designed for formerly incarcerated Black transgender women in metro Atlanta. The initiative, launched on National Trans Day of Visibility, represents a crucial step toward addressing the significant challenges these women face when reintegrating into society after incarceration.

The newly established residential facility, nestled in Atlanta’s suburban landscape, provides accommodations for up to four residents at a time. More than just a physical structure, the Starter House offers comprehensive support resources essential for successful transition back into everyday life.
This transformative project emerged through Madison’s partnership with the National African American Leadership Conference on Health Disparities and Social Justice (NAESM). The organization played an instrumental role in converting Madison’s former residence into a welcoming environment where Black transgender women can rebuild their lives with dignity.

Breaking the cycle of recidivism
The establishment of the Ts Madison Starter House addresses a pressing social need highlighted by troubling statistics. According to National Institute of Health data, LGBTQ+ individuals experience incarceration at three times the rate of the general adult population. For Black transgender women, the situation is even more dire, with incarceration rates approximately ten times higher than their demographic peers.

Housing instability and reintegration challenges
Lack of stable housing consistently ranks among the most significant barriers to successful reintegration and dramatically increases recidivism rates. The Starter House directly tackles this issue by providing a secure living environment, helping address the cycle of reincarceration that disproportionately affects Black transgender women.

Grassroots funding fuels community initiative
Madison shared her enthusiasm about the grand opening through social media, writing: Madison expressed that the day of opening was monumental, with emotions that were difficult to articulate, but emphasized their collective achievement. Her message reinforced the community-centered philosophy driving the project, highlighting the importance of community among sisters and the need to care for each other. She noted that the blessings received were not personal but communal, encouraging mutual support.

Despite the project’s importance, Madison revealed in an interview with The Atlanta Voice that the Starter House operates without government funding. Madison explained the need for donations to the project, emphasizing that it receives no external funding. She stressed that the initiative is created by the community for the community, which is why community support is essential, highlighting the grassroots nature of the project.

Community participation essential for sustainability
The ongoing success of the Ts Madison Starter House depends heavily on community involvement and financial support. Those interested in contributing can make donations through the NAESM website, ensuring the home continues to provide critical services to its residents.

Health challenges compound housing needs
Formerly incarcerated LGBTQ+ individuals face multilayered challenges, including specialized healthcare needs and persistent discrimination. By providing a stable living environment, the Starter House creates space for healing and successful community reentry while working to reduce the stigma that often accompanies the reintegration process.

Creating change through communal support
The Ts Madison Starter House represents more than just a physical space—it embodies a commitment to community empowerment and collective action. Madison’s initiative serves as a powerful reminder that sustainable change requires unity and mutual support, especially for marginalized community members facing systemic barriers.

Through this transformative project, Madison has established not only a transitional housing facility but also a model for community-driven solutions to complex social challenges. The Starter House demonstrates how personal resources can be leveraged to create meaningful impact for those most in need of support.
For those wishing to support this essential initiative, visit the NAESM website to make contributions that will help ensure the continued operation of this vital community resource.

Tisha Campbell Talks Her "Damn Gina" Comedy Tour

A legendary actress is entertaining audiences in a new way by embarking on her copious, cackle-causing comedy tour.
Tisha Campbell is hosting the aptly titled the “Damn Gina!” Comedy Tour alongside comedian Finesse Mitchell, marking her first foray into the world of stand-up, a move that has both longtime fans and new audiences eager to see her comedic talents in action.

The tour that kicked off March 2 in Brea California, is continuing and perfectly timed, considering that Martin is now streaming on Netflix, reintroducing the cult classic show to a fresh wave of fans.

“You know how when The Brady Bunch and I Love Lucy would air, and people still watched it? It feels like that,” she told BOSSIP. “We didn’t see that coming. None of us did, including Martin [Lawrence]. I remember me and Tichina [Arnold] and Martin having lunch together. And he said, ‘Can you believe they call us icons?’ And I was like, ‘Yeah, can you believe that?’ That’s crazy, right? Because we don’t think of ourselves like that. At the time, we were just trying to make people laugh and feed our families. So we didn’t anticipate that the show was going to be so well-loved for so long.”

Despite her extensive experience in film and television, Tisha told BOSSIP she long avoided stand-up comedy—until fate intervened.
“Let me tell you, stand-up, I purposefully never tried to do, even though a bunch of stand-up comedians were encouraging me and pushing me to do it, but I was always too afraid. It’s one of the hardest things I’ve ever done, but also one of the most fulfilling. And it was a mistake.”

According to Tisha, she was supporting her friend DJ D-Nice at his Kennedy Center residency during a comedy night and was asked to replace the host. She agreed but panicked when she was asked to do a 15-minute comedy set to keep the crowd entertained. Luckily for her, it all worked out.

“I was scared to death, but I did it,” she recalled. “And by the time I got off stage, I had an agent.”
Now, with tour stops planned across major cities, Campbell is fully embracing the challenge of stand-up, putting in the work to ensure her act is both personal and polished.

“I also was really nervous because stepping into this genre of entertainment, I wanted the people that I’ve worked with over the many years to know that I was taking it seriously. I don’t have a ghostwriter. I am doing this all myself. Finesse Mitchell, who has teamed up with me, is my mentor. He’s very hard on me. He makes me rewrite and rewrite and rewrite my material. He gives me suggestions, notes. And I wanted to do all of the people that I’ve worked with proud. Everybody has been so supportive. That’s the thing that I can’t believe [it]…Dave Chappelle, he was like, ‘Let’s go.’ David and Marlon Wayans offered to give me notes and do some writing with me. They’ve been so supportive.”

Though stand-up presents new challenges, Campbell is undeterred, embracing the process with the same fearless energy that made her a star.
“I knew that I was relentless before, and that I’m not afraid to fail. I’m not afraid to fail because you never know what’s gonna hit or what’s not gonna hit. You can have a good day, you can have a bad day. But I know what my ultimate goal is. And my ultimate goal is to help somebody heal through laughter. So I just concentrate on that. Even when something doesn’t work out well on stage, it doesn’t deter me. It just makes me want to get after it even harder.”

When asked to describe the Damn Gina! Comedy Tour in three words, Campbell had a characteristically unfiltered response:
“Funny, honest… a good f*****g time.”
Daaaamn, Gina! That’s “WZUP, WZUP, WZUP!”

Wendy Williams Secures Celebrity Attorney Joe Tacopina For Guardianship Battle

Wendy Williams has secured one of the entertainment industry’s most in-demand attorneys, as the former talk show host has hired Joe Tacopina to represent her in her current guardianship battle.
Tacopina revealed the news during an April 3 interview with NewsNation’s Banfield, saying, “Yes, I am representing her, I’m her personal attorney right now. I will be entering the case one way or another, but it’s a convoluted process…the last thing they want to do is see my face in that courtroom,” he added with a chuckle and sly smirk.

Tacopina is currently in the spotlight after representing A$AP Rocky in his recent gun assault trial against A$AP Relli, securing the win for the Harlem rapper who faced two felony counts of assault with a semiautomatic firearm. Other past high-profile clients include Swizz Beatz, Ne-Yo, Meek Mill, YG, Alex Rodriguez, Michael Jackson and President Donald Trump.

The lawyer revealed on the 2 Angry Men podcast in early March that Williams reached out to him to inquire about representation. After watching Tubi documentary Saving Wendy, Tacopina called the current treatment of the media maven “a true injustice,” adding, “Murderers have more freedom than Wendy.
Williams is currently fighting to be released from a guardianship overseen by court-appointed legal guardian Sabrina Morrissey since May 2022. Protesters have rallied outside of Williams’ assisted living facility in support of the New Jersey native who recently passed a capacity test after being labeled “cognitively impaired.” The test followed Williams dropping a concerning note down to the paparazzi reading, “HELP! WENDY.”

Speaking to People, Williams’ health care advocate, Ginalisa Monterroso, claims that Williams can no longer, “decide where to live, how to spend her money or have a bank account. She can’t vote, marry or decide the doctors she’d like to use or what friends can visit her at the facility. She has to get special permission from Morrissey and sometimes even Judge Lisa A. Sokoloff, who is overseeing her affairs, to travel out of state.”
“You have no rights,” added Monterroso. “Somebody in prison has more rights than a person put under a guardianship.”

Williams also previously spoke on her son being somewhat responsible for the guardianship, as his excessive spending from her Wells Fargo account — without her knowledge — is what caused the bank to freeze her accounts and question her spending, which, compounded with her health concerns, resulted in the courts stepping in.

New Diddy Accuser Claims Beyoncé, JAY-Z, LeBron James Witnessed Victim Post-Assault
Sean “Diddy” Combs is currently being sued for human trafficking by a Florida man named Joseph Manzaro.
The alleged victim claims that Diddy sexually assaulted and humiliated him at one of his infamous “freak-offs” from April 2015 and that JAY-Z, Beyoncé, LeBron James, and Gloria Estefan all saw him throughout the night.

The alleged incident took place during a birthday party for Diddy’s son, Christian Combs, and the disgraced mogul allegedly shamed Manzaro by “strapping a penis to his face and parading him around.” Per a federal indictment, a “freak-off” involved Diddy, a male sex worker, and another woman.

In the lawsuit, according to TMZ, Manzaro claimed to have been drugged and transported to Star Island in Miami for the party. He was first dragged to the back entrance of Emilio and Gloria Estefan’s mansion, where the singer saw him in a “drug-induced stupor” and demanded an ambulance. Emilio allegedly silenced her and they returned to the party. James allegedly said to Manzaro, “Y’all better do something about that,” as he was seen roaming the halls in a towel.

Another Diddy accuser, Adria English, allegedly led Manzaro through a secret tunnel in Diddy’s home and it was then he noticed Beyoncé and JAY-Z.
He claims she questioned, “What’s this? What’s this all about? Why is this half-naked white man with a c**k mask standing here in front of me?” A member of Diddy’s entourage allegedly replied, “Diddy wants him to see what we do to snitches. This is part of his punishment.“

As he was “forcibly paraded” around, Manzaro claims Diddy shouted, “He’s gonna find out what we do to snitches tonight. Get him undressed!”
He was left to wear a small thong and a black leather mask with the rubber attachment “forcibly inserted and zipped closed over his head.” Manzaro said that “a locking sex device was affixed to the mask, protruding from his mouth” as Diddy and Adria allegedly subjected him to degrading and non-consensual acts.

Later in the evening, Manzaro said celebrity jeweler Jacob Arabo appeared to be “visibly disturbed” when running into him. Arabo asked, “What’s this? What’s going on with this guy? Why is he standing here staring at me with a penis strapped to his face?”

TMZ noted that JAY-Z was in New York City on the date of the alleged party for a TIDAL speaking engagement. VIBE did reach out to Roc Nation for a comment.
However, neither he, Beyoncé, LeBron James, Gloria Estefan, or Jacob Araboare being sued. Manzaro is only suing Diddy, Emilio Estefan, Adria English, Diddy’s alleged drug mule Brendan Paul, and others.

Combs’ legal team said in a statement to TMZ, “This complaint demonstrates the depraved lengths plaintiffs will travel to garner headlines in pursuit of a payday. No sane person reading this complaint could credit this story. Mr. Combs looks forward to having his day in court where these lies — and the perverse motives of those who told them — will be revealed.”

Raven-Symoné Explains Why She Doesn’t Address Orlando Brown’s Comments: 'I Plead the Fifth'

No matter what Orlando Brown says or does, Raven-Symoné intends to remain silent.
During her appearance on the latest episode of The Jason Lee Show, Raven-Symoné said she has chosen to "plead the fifth" when it comes to commenting on anything pertaining to her former That’s So Raven co-star.

"I'm secure enough in my bank account and my life that I don’t have to dig that deep down to take it," she said. "And I don’t have to defend myself about anything because that’s his experience."
Raven-Symoné admitted she has more important things to worry about at this point in her life. "I’m almost 40. I don’t have room to steep that low," she said. "I got a wife. I got shit to do."

Raven-Symoné did not go into details, but noted that anything Brown has claimed in the past would need to be corroborated by her.
One thing that can be confirmed is the existence of a tattoo of Raven's face on his neck. The Raven's Home star did not appear interested in speaking about the tat, allowing Lee to deliver his two cents.
Despite everything that has gone on in Brown's personal life in recent years, Raven-Symoné praised his talents, calling him a "comedic genius."

“I know his family. I know him," she said. "And I knew him before drugs, after drugs, during God, not during God, and he was a comedic genius. And he’s still making people laugh."

OnlyFans Founder and Amazon Among Potential TikTok Bidders As Ban Approaches
The list of potential future owners of TikTok's U.S. operations has grown to include OnlyFans founder Tim Stokely and Amazon.
In 2024, congress passed a law that set a deadline for TikTok's Chinese parent company, ByteDance, to sell the popular social media platform and video sharing site's U.S. operations by January 19, 2025. The ban went into effect but it returned within a day after Donald Trump—who proposed the app be banned in 2020 due to security concerns—allowed ByteDance to seek a buyer within 75 days. The app is set to go offline if a buyer isn't sorted by April 5.

As reported by Reuters, OnlyFans founder Tim Stokely has joined forces with a cryptocurrency company for a last-minute bid to purchase TikTok from ByteDance. The bid was sent to the White House this week by Stokely's new startup Zoop, and Hedera cryptocurrency network treasury manager the Hbar Foundation. "Our bid for TikTok isn't just about changing ownership, it's about creating a new paradigm where both creators and their communities benefit directly from the value they generate," added Zoop's co-founder RJ Phillips.

Per the New York Times, Jeff Bezos' omnipresent Amazon has also entered a bid to take control of TikTok. However, it appears as though the White House is not taking the Amazon bid as seriously as some of the other offers that have come its way.

But there are still many other potential future TikTok owners in the mix, including Oracle. The company has history with TikTok, too, having previously entered a partnership with its parent company to handle the data of its users in the United States. Their plan would see ByteDance remain the sole owner of TikTok's algorithm, though. There's also MrBeast, who is teaming up with Employer.com founder Jesse Tinsley and Roblox CEO David Baszucki for a bid, and Shark Tank star Kevin O'Leary's bid with Los Angeles Dodgers owner Frank McCourt.

Other names in the mix include Blackstone, Microsoft, and AI-powered search engine Perplexity.

Adams embraces independent path for NYC mayoral bid

Mayor Eric Adams has dramatically altered the landscape of New York City politics by announcing his decision to abandon the Democratic primary and instead pursue reelection as an independent candidate. The announcement, delivered through social media on Thursday, represents a fundamental shift in the mayor’s political strategy and introduces a new dynamic to the upcoming mayoral race.

Adams’ transition away from the Democratic Party machinery comes at a critical juncture in his political career. The mayor has consistently positioned himself as a pragmatic leader who prioritizes practical solutions over ideological purity, and this latest move appears designed to reinforce that image among voters who may be disenchanted with traditional party politics.

Charges dismissed as campaign reorients
The timing of Adams’ announcement follows closely on the heels of a significant legal victory. A federal judge recently dismissed bribery and wire fraud charges that had been hanging over the mayor since his September indictment. The accusations had centered around allegations that Adams accepted substantial financial benefits and luxury travel accommodations from wealthy Turkish nationals over approximately a decade.

The dismissal of these charges by U.S. District Judge Dale Ho has effectively removed what might have been a substantial impediment to Adams’ reelection prospects. The 78-page judicial order ensures that these particular legal issues cannot be resurrected or leveraged against Adams as he formulates his independent campaign strategy.

With this legal cloud lifted, Adams now faces the formidable challenge of rebuilding his political brand and reconnecting with a voter base that has demonstrated increasing volatility. The mayor has acknowledged the difficulties ahead, recognizing that his current standing would make a competitive Democratic primary run improbable given the compressed timeframe.

Voter independence grows in Democratic stronghold
Adams now has approximately three months to assemble a campaign team capable of effectively engaging with New York City’s evolving electorate. While Democrats maintain numerical superiority among registered voters, recent elections have revealed a growing contingent of independent voters willing to cross traditional party lines. This trend was particularly evident during the November elections, when Republican candidates made unexpected inroads in several traditionally Democratic districts.

The mayor’s strategic calculations likely take into account these shifting demographics. By positioning himself as an independent candidate, Adams may be attempting to capitalize on voter fatigue with partisan politics while simultaneously avoiding a potentially bruising Democratic primary battle. This approach could theoretically allow him to conserve resources and political capital for the general election, where a broader coalition might be assembled.

Adams has consistently characterized his governing philosophy as one that transcends traditional political boundaries. Throughout his tenure, he has emphasized his commitment to addressing the practical concerns of working-class New Yorkers rather than adhering to ideological litmus tests. This independent candidacy represents the logical extension of that positioning, potentially appealing to voters across the political spectrum who prioritize pragmatic problem-solving over partisan loyalty.

Democratic field grows as former governor enters race
As Adams charts his independent course, the Democratic primary field has expanded to include twelve candidates, most notably former Governor Andrew Cuomo. Cuomo’s entry into the race introduces another high-profile personality with substantial name recognition and political experience.

The relationship between Adams and Cuomo has been marked by tension, particularly regarding public safety policies implemented during the COVID-19 pandemic. Adams has been critical of bail reform measures enacted during Cuomo’s administration, suggesting they contributed to increased crime rates throughout the city. The mayor has also questioned Cuomo’s leadership stability, referencing the former governor’s resignation amid personal controversies.

The growing Democratic field presents both challenges and opportunities for Adams’ independent strategy. A crowded primary could potentially produce a nominee who emerges with limited consolidated support, creating an opening for an independent candidate with strong name recognition and incumbent advantages. Conversely, should a particularly strong consensus candidate emerge from the Democratic process, Adams would face the challenge of overcoming traditional voting patterns in a city where Democratic registration heavily outweighs all other affiliations.

Appeal to working-class priorities becomes central focus
Adams’ close advisers have emphasized that his independent candidacy will focus on policy positions that address the concrete needs of New York residents rather than adhering to partisan expectations. This approach aligns with Adams’ self-presentation as a mayor who prioritizes pragmatic solutions over ideological purity.

The mayor intends to emphasize his authenticity and willingness to implement effective policies regardless of their political origin. This positioning could potentially resonate with voters who feel disconnected from traditional party politics and who prioritize specific local issues over national partisan affiliations.

Adams faces the significant challenge of maintaining his existing base of support while simultaneously expanding his appeal to independents and moderate Republicans. This balancing act will require sophisticated messaging that emphasizes his achievements while acknowledging the persistent challenges facing the city, including public safety concerns, affordable housing shortages, and economic recovery in the post-pandemic landscape.

Three-month sprint demands rapid mobilization
With limited time before the election, Adams must rapidly assemble a campaign infrastructure capable of collecting the necessary signatures to secure ballot access as an independent candidate. This process demands substantial organizational capacity and grassroots engagement.

The mayor’s ability to articulate a compelling vision for New York City that transcends traditional political categories will prove crucial to his electoral prospects. By positioning himself as a leader committed to addressing the practical concerns of everyday New Yorkers rather than adhering to partisan orthodoxy, Adams hopes to forge a coalition capable of delivering electoral victory despite the unorthodox nature of his candidacy.

As this political drama unfolds, New York City residents will have the opportunity to evaluate an increasingly diverse field of candidates representing various perspectives on the city’s future. Adams’ independent candidacy adds yet another dimension to an already complex electoral landscape, ultimately enriching the democratic process by expanding the range of options available to voters seeking effective leadership for their city.

Cause Of Death Confirmed For Young Scooter As ‘Baddies’ Star Arrested For False 911 Call
The cause of death for Atlanta rapper Young Scooter, who passed away on his 39th birthday, March 28, has been revealed. A suspect has also been taken into custody for “making a false 911 call” connected to the incident.
According to an official autopsy report released by the Fulton County Medical Examiner’s Office on April 1, Scooter, real name Kenneth Bailey, died from “a penetrating injury” to his right thigh, which caused significant blood loss, after he reportedly fled from officers as they responded to an alleged dispute involving possible gunfire.

While initial reports suggested that the Atlanta Police Department (APD) might have fired shots at the rapper during the chase, the medical examiner’s findings clarified that the hip-hop star’s death resulted from an injury sustained when he cut his thigh on wooden fencing material or debris after jumping over at least one fence.

The APD clarified that they did not fire shots at the rapper during the incident in their release published Tuesday.
“The Atlanta Police Department is aware of inaccurate comments and social media posts regarding the death of Kenneth Bailey. While we understand that many people are saddened by his passing, it is important to recognize that Atlanta police officers neither discharged their firearms nor used any force against Mr. Bailey.”

As previously reported, on March 28 at approximately 5:23 p.m. local time, Atlanta police responded to a domestic dispute at 273 William Nye Drive SE, where gunshots were possibly fired. The man involved, later identified as Scooter, reportedly fled the scene upon officers’ arrival, according to the APD’s initial statement. After a brief foot chase, officers found the man suffering from a leg injury.

Demi Spencer AKA Demi Blanco Arrested For Making A “False Public Alarm” Connected To Scooter’s Death
In their initial release, the APD asked for the public’s assistance in identifying a female 911 caller connected to the dispute. On Tuesday, the APD announced that Demetria Spencer, known as Demi Blanco, had been arrested and charged with transmitting a false public alarm in connection with the rapper’s death.

Spencer, 31, was taken into custody by the APD and charged with transmitting a false public alarm under O.C.G.A. 16-10-28, subsection (d)(2), which applies when serious bodily harm or death results from the response of a public safety agency. She is accused of making a false 911 call regarding an injury or death at 273 William Nye Drive SE on March 28, 2025. She was transported to the Fulton County Jail for processing.

During the 911 call, which was obtained by TMZ, a person believed to be Spencer claimed that a woman, who was allegedly naked, was being beaten by a man at the 273 William Nye Drive address. The caller stated that the man was fighting the woman over drugs and that someone had arrived at the scene and started shooting.

Notably, after her identity was revealed in the APD’s press release, Spencer denied any wrongdoing during an Instagram Live session on Tuesday, according to TMZ. However, the aspiring musician seemed to alter her story, now claiming that she was the one being beaten during the alleged domestic dispute.
“There’s a reaction for every action. This is Part A. You guys didn’t have Part A. You guys only have Part B,” Spencer explained. “And the narrative, it looks like I was trying to set this man up, because you guys don’t have Part B. I’m giving you Part B. I’m giving you what led up to the call. I was physically abused, so I called to protect myself,” she continued, noting how she never intended to hurt anyone. “I was the one that was getting hurt and I came here to say my truth. That’s it, that’s all. I don’t want no clout. I don’t want anything.”

Halle Berry Responds To 'Avengers: Doomsday' Snub
Marvel Studios recently set social media ablaze with their announcement of the cast for "Avengers: Doomsday", revealing the return of beloved "X-Men" actors such as Patrick Stewart (Professor X) and Ian McKellen (Magneto), among others. However, one notable absence from the announcement.

Halle Berry, who portrayed Storm in the original X-Men films, was nowhere to be found on the list.
At this year's CinemaCon in Las Vegas, where the actress was promoting her new film, "Crime 101", she was asked by Black Girl Nerds about her potentially reprising her superhero role in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. "Keep waiting. It's not going to be there. It's not going to be there," she responded.

This statement, while clear, has not completely silenced debates among fans over whether this is a deliberate misdirection.

As it stands, the confirmed list of returning X-Men actors includes Alan Cumming (Nightcrawler), Rebecca Romijn (Mystique), James Marsden (Cyclops), and Kelsey Grammer (Beast).
Besides Berry, the other snubs include Hugh Jackman (Wolverine), Anna Paquin (Rogue), Shawn Ashmore (Iceman), Jennifer Lawrence (Mystique), and Famke Janssen (Jean Grey).

While Hugh Jackman appeared in "Deadpool & Wolverine" along with Channing Tatum's Gambit and Jennifer Garner's Elektra among others, Halle Berry was a no-show.
"Blake [Lively] asked me one time, I ran into her at a Marc Jacobs fashion show, and she said, 'Would you ever be in my husband's movie as Storm?' I said, 'Yeah, if he asked me,' but he never asked me," Berry dished on.
While Halle Berry's Storm may not be joining the fray in "Avengers: Doomsday," the excitement continues to build as Marvel hints at more announcements to come.

Antonio Brown Raises Nearly $60,000 for Man Arrested for Leaving His Children Unattended During McDonald’s Job Interview
Former NFL star Antonio Brown has launched a GoFundMe for the Georgia father who was arrested for leaving his children unattended during his job interview.
On Monday, Brown created the fundraising campaign for 24-year-old Chris Louis, whose story went viral after Augusta authorities arrested him for leaving his three children, ages 1, 6, and 10, in the indoor play area of a McDonald’s while he interviewed for a position. The arrest sparked widespread support for Louis, with many calling for the charges to be dropped.

The story caught Brown’s attention, and he quickly set a goal of raising $50,000 for Louis and his family.
“A dad just trying to find a way to make money for his family. I know he shouldn’t just leave his kids, but some people don’t have the means for babysitting, etc. This GoFundMe is set in place to help this man,” he wrote on the fundraising page.

In a Wednesday tweet, Brown further expressed his support, revealing that Louis and his family had been struggling for months.
“Sometimes people just need some help. Happy to help Chris & his family get a stable life. Spoke to the family… they have been homeless since November trying to make it. Next step will be helping Chris land a job,” he wrote.

As of this publication, the campaign had raised over $57,000.
