#MAGFAB: Cynthia Erivo for Empire - December 2024
In Wizard Of Oz spin-off Wicked, Cynthia Erivo plays ostracised outcast Elphaba. Being off-kilter, though, says the actor, has always been a badge of honour
There was no yellow brick road laid out for Cynthia Erivo to follow.
Instead, the British-Nigerian has found her own way, from a show-stealing solo in her south London primary’s nativity play (‘Silent Night’; not a dry eye in the house), to a multi-hyphenate, multi-award-winning career, spanning stage, screen and latterly, the recording studio. This month, 37-year-old Erivo stars as Elphaba, aka the Wicked Witch of the West, alongside Ariana Grande, Jeff Goldblum and Michelle Yeoh, in the big-screen adaptation of Wicked, the Wizard Of Oz spin-off and hit Broadway musical. It’s a role she feels she’s “innately understood” even before being offered it, from experiencing the musical, and there have been plenty more sing-along adventures en route to this dream-come-true.
Throughout, she’s forged her own path. In the few short years since Erivo moved stateside in 2015 (at Oprah’s personal invitation) to play Celie in the Broadway revival of The Color Purple, she’s shaved off all her hair, for good; starred in her debut movie, Widows — for Steve McQueen, and alongside Viola Davis, no less; shared a tearful, hand-holding moment with unlikely new bestie Jeff Bridges (more of which later) while prepping for her tour de force turn in Bad Times At The El Royale; learned to sing like Aretha Franklin for a TV biopic; impressed as Harriet Tubman in the abolitionist action-hero’s big-screen outing Harriet, then performed the song from the movie — which she also co-wrote — live at the 2020 Oscars. Phew.
She’s also done all of this while being unapologetically, uniquely herself. Maybe Cynthia Erivo is the kind of indefatigable, ever-evolving talent that Hollywood struggles to keep up with — but that’s okay. Because she knows exactly where she’s going. With or without a yellow brick road.
How did Wicked come into your life?
The first time I heard of Wicked was back in drama school. A friend of mine who played the piano said, “There’s this musical that I think you’d really, really like. We should take the book to a room and sing it when we can.” I’d never seen the show, I just fell in love with this music. So whenever we had time to be on our own, in a room with a piano, that’s the music we were singing. By the time I left drama school, I knew it like the back of my hand. Then, on my 25th birthday, I decided to take myself on a date to see the show in the West End. I remember having the most incredible experience, watching the story about this person who feels different— is different — and is ostracised because they are different. But at the same time, they’re also really, really powerful, and the thing that unlocks that [power] is an acceptance of who they are.
"Having shaved my hair off, it’s one of the most freeing things I could have ever done for myself."
So you saw some of yourself in that?
I’ve felt different my whole entire life. I think I just am. I think I’m an oddball. And that’s okay. I think the way I look at style and beauty is different and just... I think every Black woman walking around in this world feels a little bit outside of the norm, because we don’t necessarily fit what is meant to be the norm. So, as someone who is Black, British, African, an actor, gay, the whole lot... That’s just what I am, and I think I’ve leaned into my difference; into my ‘rebel’, I guess.
And now in Wicked you’re... green. What was it like being green? Was Kermit The Frog right about that one?
It was really comfy! I think, depending on what we were doing for the day, it could take anything from two-and-a-half hours to four-and-a-half hours [in the make-up chair]. It felt like a second skin. I was never irritated by it. I think a lot of research went into what shade would be right, what would sit on my skin in the right way and how I could take care of my skin whilst it was in the make-up. There was the option to do CGI. I was asked if I wanted to do that, or to do practical, and I knew I wanted to do practical before I even started, because I wanted to be able to look at my hands and see green hands. I wanted to look in the mirror and see a green face. I also wanted to see the reactions of other people seeing me as a green person, as opposed to me walking in as myself, because it informed how I performed.
What’s Ariana Grande like?
Delightful. We were texting last night. When people ask, “What’s she like?”, I feel like I have to explain that we’ve been together in this, doing this, at this point for, like, two-and-a-half years. So she’s like my sister. It’s not this new person that I just met, like, “She’s amazing! I love working with her! Blah blah blah...” And we love singing together, because our voices work together, which is really cool, because it’s hard to find that.
It seems like big-screen musicals are back in fashion at the moment, what with The Color Purple, Wonka, Joker: Folie À Deux and this. You must be enjoying that.
There’s something really special about a movie musical. In its essence, it becomes a spectacle, whether you like it or not. I think that we don’t give audiences enough credit when it comes to musicals, so we pretend that musicals aren’t musicals. And I think now, it’s okay to just be like, “Hey, this is a musical, come and see it, you’ll survive... and you might even like it!” I never understand when [musical haters] are like, “Why are people singing randomly?” Because people sing every day, randomly, in the middle of the street! They literally do! I have sat in cars and people are just singing along to songs! Or the amount of times where people do that passive-aggressive thing of, when something happens that they don’t like, instead of saying, “What’s going on?”, they sing the thing that’s happening. Or at football stadiums, all of a sudden, everyone is singing along together — that’s singing in real life!
Do you have any heroes that you model yourself on?
Yeah. Barbra Streisand and Cicely Tyson. I read Cicely Tyson’s autobiography, and I understood and really agreed with how she chose to navigate her career: how different it was, the choices she made in the characters and as a person; her love for fashion, and the way she used hair as a political statement. I think at one point, she decided to shave it all off too. And honestly, having shaved my hair off, it’s one of the most freeing things I could have ever done for myself. I made the decision when I left drama school to cut it. I guess I saw everyone around me committing to long hair and I just didn’t want it. I wanted to be different. And also — I don’t know why I had this insight when I was 23 — but I wanted people to see my face. I didn’t want hair to be an obstacle. So I cut it, just so it was out of my face, and as time went on, it got shorter and shorter and shorter. After Harriet, I was like, "Actually, you know what? I think I’m good.” And I just shaved it off. So I’ve been like this (entirely shaven) for the last two, three years. I like it.
Was Whoopi Goldberg also a role model for you?
Yes. (Laughs) I think I have been following in her footsteps! (Erivo has played the Goldberg-originated roles in two stage musicals, The Color Purple and Sister Act.) I’ve met her a few times and she’s just really freaking cool, man! You know sometimes you’re told that you should never meet your idols? She’s an exception to the rule. Every time I have met her, I’ve always been taken aback by how lovely she is. And real. She’s a truth-teller. She doesn’t put lots of flowers on it, but it’s never meant to hurt you. I think she’s a really wonderful human being and I think what she’s been able to do in the industry is unlike anybody else. She’s managed to be the truest form of renaissance woman that exists.

#RHOA: Porsha Williams On Herself, Phaedra Parks Reunion, Hoping Kenya Moore “Can Work It Out” With Bravo After Exit
Porsha Williams has officially returned to Bravo and The Real Housewives of Atlanta, making a splash at Bravo Fan Fest Miami. Williams left RHOA in 2021, and although fans got a life update on Peacock’s Ultimate Girls Trip Season 3 in 2023, a lot has been happening in her life ever since. She recently spoke to DEADLINE for an interview.
“I’ve been having a good time. I’ve been enjoying life,” Williams told Deadline. “Life has its ups and downs and per usual, just pushing through and it’s been amazing. I love being a mom. My little daughter, Pilar, is five now, and that’s literally my full time job.”
DEADLINE: Speaking of Pilar, we recently saw on social media that you’re filming confessionals with her father, Dennis.
WILLIAMS: (laughing) Ooh, I thought I deleted — I posted and deleted. I was like, am I giving [the fans] too much?”
DEADLINE: How has filming with Dennis been like and will we be seeing more of him this upcoming season?
WILLIAMS: I’m excited he’s filming with me. I’m glad that our family unit is being shown because even though it’s reality TV for entertainment, this is my real life and in the beginning parts of the season, you’re gonna see what I’m actually going through. I would say the most important thing to me is having that family unit, being a great co-parent, and being able to show that unity during the transition with Pilar. I can say that I’m excited about where we are, because it’s important for her to have that.
DEADLINE: Also joining you this season, who haven’t seen on Real Housewives of Atlanta since Season 9, is your Frick and Frack partner-in-crime, Phaedra Parks. How was that reunion been?
WILLIAMS: Oh, my God, when I tell you I wanted Phaedra back day one of filming, but I have to say, I was glad when she finally did come. It’s good because it’s always good energy. It’s always fun, it’s light-hearted. As dark as life can be sometimes, you need to have that light and Frick and Frack is always going to bring the good times. We’re always going to come in and laugh at what shouldn’t be laughed at, and enjoy the good things in life and not concentrate on the bad. I just love that she’s back.
DEADLINE: You two hadn’t been filming together for a while. What was the dynamic like filming and working together again?
WILLIAMS: The thing about Frick and Frack is, we have the type of friendship where we don’t have to talk [to each other] every day, and we definitely haven’t filmed together in some years, but when I tell you, it’s like a day hasn’t been lost. As soon as we got together, you would have thought we have been together every single day. And [she’s] the type of friend that you know the friendship is real – we’re locked in.
DEADLINE: Early on in the season, we also saw photos of you and frenemy Kenya Moore circulating, indicating that you two were on good terms. Since she left the series midway through filming, are you two still in contact?
WILLIAMS: I’m still in contact with Kenya and I’m still hopeful that she can work it out with the cast and with the network and find a way forward. I was really excited for the audience to see our growth, because out of everything, it was super genuine. It was [very much] Big Sis, Little Sis energy that anybody would be able to relate to. I definitely hated that it didn’t work out, but sometimes you have to pay for some of your mistakes and come around on the end.
DEADLINE: Speaking about Little Sis, are you still in touch with former Bravo’s Chat Room co-host and Summer House alum, Hannah Berner?
WILLIAMS: Of course, I love Hannah Berner. I am so hoping that Hannah Berner [and] Gizelle Bryant, we get back together and bring back Chat Room. Everybody DMs me [and] tweets me all the time about Chat Room. So please, let’s sign a petition and get it to come back.
DEADLINE: It would work great as an in-studio show.
WILLIAMS: Just imagine what we all three would be doing in person [and] in a studio, it would be insane. We didn’t have to be produced at all. We had great producers, but [it was just them] telling us the subjects — we would just rift. That’s how natural it was with all of us. We all come from different walks of life, but it was just magic and I hope we bring it back one day.
DEADLINE: Lastly, when you were announced as returning to Real Housewives of Atlanta, the announcement included an overall scripted talent deal with NBCU Entertainment. Has there been any progress on that project?
WILLIAMS: I can’t actually speak on some of the projects, because in the TV world, you don’t speak on it until it’s announced, but there has been a lot of movement. There is a show that will be coming out next year, and yes, I have definitely stepped back into the acting field, and I do have something coming up, per usual in this world, you can’t speak about until it’s announced.

“Light Again!” and “Need Dat Boy” come from Lil Nas X’s upcoming project Dreamboy, for which he recently shared a cinematic trailer. “Need Dat Boy” is an edgier, more angsty tune, breaching emo-rap territory before morphing into a skittish, upbeat excursion; it’s an interesting contrast from the purely pleasure-seeking “Light Again!”

Khalid Responds After Being Outed As Gay On Social Media
Khalid is one of the biggest R&B/pop artists in the music industry. On Friday (Nov. 22), the multi-platinum recording artist was outed for being gay by a disgruntled ex-partner on social media. The “Location” singer responded to the claims by confirming that he is a part of the LGBTQ+ community.
In an emotional since-deleted post, a former partner of Khalid shared, “I was dating this dumb a** singer he’s ugly as f**k but he tried to set me up and lie and say I broke into his house because I broke up with him like why would I go to your house and do all that if I broke up with you dumb a**!”
He followed the post exclaiming, “B**ch a** lied and said that I broke into his house cause I didn’t want him,” with a picture of the acclaimed musician. In response to the posts, Khalid tweeted a rainbow flag emoji along with, “there yall go. Next topic please lol.” He followed the post saying, “I got outted and the world continues to turn. Let’s get this straight (lmao) I am not ashamed of my sexuality! In reality it ain’t nobodies business! I am okay with me, love yall.”
In response to a fan alluding to the fact that it was no secret that he was gay, he confirmed, “I wasn’t hiding anything! It’s just not any of your business.” Khalid was very clear that he was never looking to hide his sexuality, he just did not believe it was something he owed to his fans to share.
Many social media users are not happy with how his former partner revealed the information about Khalid. One fan exclaimed, “In the last few minutes, I found out Khalid was outed and saw the profile and tweets of the person who did it, and all I can say is… the tendency to platform people that are terrible just because they are conventionally attractive (and non-Black) will be our collective demise.”
The Texas-raised singer has collaborated with Billie Eilish, Halsey, Logic, Future, 6lack, Ty Dolla Sign and many more.
#D3 Destiny’s Child Reunites In Support Of Michelle Williams’ Broadway Performance
Beyoncé has fans talking after she and Kelly Rowland supported their fellow Destiny’s Child member, Michelle Williams at her Broadway show, “Death of Her.” The new musical adaptation had all three members of the popular R&B trio in attendance for a rare public reunion.
Saturday morning (Nov. 23), Beyoncé shared a video montage of her and her mother Tina Knowles supporting Williams in New York City. The pictures showcase the three group members smiling with the Playbill.
One fan explained, “One thing about beyoncé is that it doesn’t matter that she has a billion things to do, a movie coming out soon and a halftime show to prepare, she will show up for her sisters.” Another user stated, “That pic of Beyoncé, Kelly, & Michelle in Beyoncés post on insta has me in my feels. I want one more destiny’s child album so badly.” Someone else stated, “Destiny's Child with ll Most Wanted in the background on miley cyrus' birthday, that's a double celebration.”
Beyoncé has been making various public appearances since the release of her genre-bending country album, COWBOY CARTER. She’s done countless interviews, spoke in support of Kamala Harris and has even done commercials with companies like Verizon and Levi’s. The “Dangerously in Love” songstress was recently announced as the musical guest for the NFL’s first ever Christmas Day game. She will be performing during the Houston Texans vs. Baltimore Ravens bout.

Lil Wayne Responds To Kendrick Lamar’s “Wacced Out Morals”
Kendrick Lamar’s new album GNX drew a line in the sand with any of his detractors. He wasted no time addressing Lil Wayne’s response after he was chosen as the headlining act for Apple Music’s Super Bowl LIX halftime show on track one, “wacced out morals.” He also name-dropped Snoop Dogg and Nas on the exclamatory song.
On the track, Lamar rapped, “Used to bump Tha Carter III, I held my Rollie chain proud/ Irony, I think my hard work let Lil Wayne down/ Whatever, though, call me crazy, everybody questionable/ Turn me to an Eskimo, I drew the line and decimals.”
This line prompted the “Lollipop” emcee to tweet, “Man, wtf I do?! I just be chillin [and they] still [come for] my head. Let’s not take kindness for weakness. Let this giant sleep. I beg [you] all. No one really wants destruction, not even me, but I shall destroy if disturbed. On me. Love.” Many fans were upset that the Young Money head honcho took the stance he did, following how he handled the initial announcement.
One fan responded, “With all due respect, Wayne, you’re gifted at many things, but beef has never been your strong suit in rap. You’ve had some good one-liners, but that won’t be enough here. Kendrick addressed the SB “snub,” just let it end there, legend. Kendrick is in crash out mode.”
Someone else explained, “You said the superbowl was taken from you when it wasn’t promised in the first place and never congratulated the artist who looked up to you and worked hard himself to get it, but now it’s ‘wtf I do?’ Lol.”
Lamar is documented as being a huge fan of Lil Wayne’s discography. The two legendary emcees joined forces on Wayne’s Tha Carter V on their standout track, “Mona Lisa.” They are both regarded by many as two of the best to ever grace the mic. There is no clear indication if this bar from Kung Fu Kenny was an actual shot was or if he was just addressing the situation, but it appears that Wayne feels like a victim in this moment.

Trigger warning: This article contains mentions of sexual assault that may be distressing to some readers.
The artist formerly known as Kanye West is reportedly facing a new lawsuit after being alleged of sexually assaulting and strangling former “America’s Next Top Model” contest Jenifer An in 2010, according to a legal filing made in New York federal court on Friday (Nov. 22).
Rolling Stone reported, “Kanye West allegedly choked a model with both hands and subjected her to ‘pornographic gagging’ as she gasped for air on the set of a La Roux music video being filmed at Manhattan’s Chelsea Hotel in 2010.”
The lawsuit claimed, “On camera, defendant West began to choke plaintiff with one hand. He then wrapped his other hand around her neck and continued to strangle her with both hands. He then rammed several fingers down her throat, continuously moved them in and out, and gagged her.” An says West used his fingers “to emulate forced oral sex” as he allegedly screamed, “This is art. This is f**king art. I am like Picasso.”
To date, Ye has not yet responded to these claims from An’s team. Universal Music Group is cited as a co-defendant on the case because they did not further investigate the shoot after An’s team reached out to share her experience.
Ye’s porn fascination has been heavily documented over the years. On his popular song, “I Love It” with Lil Pump he raps, “I'm a sick f**k, I'm inappropriate/ I like hearin' stories, I like that h* s**t/ I wanna hear mo' s**t, I like the h* s**t/ Send me some mo' s**t, you triflin' h* b**ch.”
One fan responded to post from The Shade Room saying, “Why not walk out and leave if you’re uncomfortable?” Another user explained, “It's crazy how women will sue but not press criminal charges.”
The VULTURES 1 rapper is no stranger to lawsuits. Recently, USA TODAY asserted, “Murphy Aficionado accuses Ye of creating a hostile work environment, alleging discrimination, retaliation, labor code violations, unpaid wages and wrongful termination. Ye's company, Yeezy, and his reportedly shuttered private school Donda Academy were also listed as defendants in the case.”
While some fans believe these recent lawsuits are an attempt to defame West’s name, others believe he is finally being held to fire after getting away with negative behavior for years.

Tony Buzbee, Lawyer Representing Sean “Diddy” Combs Accusers, Sued For Assault
Houston lawyer Tony Buzbee holds a press conference at his office announcing the over 100 individual cases he has against Sean Diddy Combs on Tuesday, Oct. 1, 2024 in Houston Elizabeth Conley/Houston Chronicle via Getty Images
Tony Buzbee, the lawyer representing over 100 people claiming that Sean “Diddy” Combs sexually assaulted them, is facing a lawsuit himself. According to TMZ, Buzbee is being accused of assault by a woman, recognized as Jane Doe in the filing.
The tabloid reported she alleges the attorney assaulted her while repping her in a divorce case. A source claims Buzbee saw the woman out in public and flew into a “fit of rage” allegedly pushing a champagne flute into her face, chipping her tooth. The woman claims to have medical records proving her injuries and also alleges he committed malpractice, costing her millions.
“Tony Buzbee is a hypocrite. There is nothing worse than when a black hat masquerades as a white hat,” said the woman’s lawyer, Jeremy Bohrer, to TMZ.
“That’s crazy fiction. Like really crazy. Like ridiculously crazy. I would ask if the lawyer bringing this silly case is friends with a lawyer from the firm that brought the other [extortion] case. All this will be exposed soon,” shared the lawyer, referring to a lawsuit filed earlier this week where he is accused of extortion by a “high profile individual.”
The unnamed person has ties to Diddy and is a former associate of the disgraced Hip-Hop mogul. Buzbee is accused of threatening to issue “entirely fabricated and malicious allegations of sexual assault — including multiple incidents of rape of a minor, both male and female — against Plaintiff if he refuses to comply with their demands.”
“We won’t be bullied or silenced by frivolous cases being filed against me or against my clients. All of this is false and I won’t tolerate defamation,” declared Buzbee to TMZ.

Samuel L. Jackson’s next role will be MAJOR!
Samuel L. Jackson is in talks to star in J.J. Abrams’ top secret new movie. The collaboration would mark the first time these two Hollywood powerhouses have worked together on a feature film.
The 75-year-old actor is currently in negotiations to appear in the upcoming Warner Bros. film, which is set to star Glen Powell, Jenna Ortega and Emma Mackey while the Star Trek director helms the project both behind the camera and as a producer through his Bad Robot banner. The production budget is rumored to be around $200 million, making it one of Warner Bros.’ biggest investments for 2025.
While plot details are being kept under wraps, The Hollywood Reporter has suggested the story, which is being written by Abrams, will not include any time travel elements after it was previously rumored the movie would be focused around the sci-fi feature. Industry insiders speculate the film might explore new territory for both Jackson and Abrams.
The mystery picture is due to begin filming in the UK in Spring 2025, though no release date has been confirmed yet. The production is expected to employ over 500 crew members and utilize several prestigious British filming locations
Jackson is best known as S.H.I.E.L.D. director Nick Fury in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU), and has appeared as the character in 11 entries into the series, from Iron Man in 2008, Captain America: The Winter Soldier in 2014 and most recently The Marvels last year. His portrayal of Nick Fury has contributed to over $22.5 billion in global box office revenue across the MCU films.
Reflecting on signing on to the MCU, the Star Wars actor admitted he thought it was “kinda crazy” he was offered a “nine-picture contract” by studio head Kevin Feige.
During an interview with GQ, Jackson said: “When Kevin said that, ‘We’re gonna offer you a nine-picture deal,’ [I asked] ‘How long I gotta stay alive to make nine movies?’ “
Jackson added, “It’s not the quickest process in the world, people don’t do it. I didn’t know they were going to make nine movies in like two and a half years. It’s kinda crazy, like, ‘Oh s—, I’m using up my contracts!’ But it worked out.” This deal made Jackson one of the most frequently appearing actors in the MCU.
Pulp Fiction star Jackson added he had played Fury for so many years that he knew the character like the back of his hand. His portrayal of Nick Fury has become one of the most recognizable characters in modern cinema, with merchandise sales exceeding $1 billion globally.
“I’ve been doing Nick Fury for so long, I know what he sounds like and I know how he thinks and how he feels,” Jackson explained to Collider. “I know writers sit at home and write. If the writer is a fan of that kind of thing – the superhero genre – they know how to do it. I’ve had directors who have written comic books, so when they say, ‘Say it the way I wrote it,’ you can go, ‘Okay, so we’re doing comic book speak.'”
The potential collaboration between Jackson and Abrams has generated significant buzz in Hollywood, with both creators having impressive track records. Abrams’ films have grossed over $3.1 billion worldwide, while Jackson remains one of the highest-grossing actors of all time, with his films earning more than $27 billion globally.
This project represents a significant shift for Warner Bros., as they continue to diversify their slate beyond superhero films. The studio has been actively pursuing original, high-concept projects from established filmmakers, with this Abrams-directed film being one of their most anticipated upcoming releases.
The combination of Jackson’s commanding screen presence and Abrams’ innovative storytelling approach has already generated substantial interest from international distributors. Pre-sales for various territories are expected to begin at the Cannes Film Festival, indicating the high commercial expectations for this mysterious project.

De La Soul Absolutely Hates the New De La Soul Biography say they're exploring Legal options
Hip-hop legends De La Soul denounce an ‘unauthorized’ biography, saying they’re exploring taking legal action.
Author Marcus J. Moore released his new book, High and Rising: A Book About De La Soul from Dey Street Books on Tuesday, November 19. But the hip-hop legends took to social media on Thursday to let their fans know they did not approve the “unauthorized” book, and they are exploring “all of our legal options.”
“We want to make it absolutely clear: this is an unauthorized book, and we are not connected to it in any way,” their statement begins. “For years, you’ve stood with us in our fight for ownership of our catalog and the right to benefit from the music we created. That same dedication to protecting what’s ours extends to being the ones who tell OUR story — something deeply personal and ‘De La’ to the core.”
“If you choose to support this book, that’s your right,” they continue. “We just want it to be clear that we do not and we are exploring all of our legal options,” the group concludes. “We’re cooking up something special for Spring 2025 — so the wait won’t be long for more of that authentic ‘De La.’”
Some fans have continued defending author Marcus J. Moore and his right to pay homage to the group. Moore also published the 2020 book, The Butterfly Effect: How Kendrick Lamar Ignited the Soul of Black America.
Back in April, he commented on social media about his De La Soul book. “This book has been a labor of love and struggle over the past four years. Completed in the wake of Dave’s passing and my mother’s death, parts of it wrestle with grief and mourning in public, how to move forward when the body and mind refuses.”
“High and Rising is a cultural biography with critical analysis,” he continues. “It’s also a memoir that not only celebrates De La, it unpacks my coming of age. At the behest of friends and colleagues, I’m asserting my voice and perspective a lot more (in this book and elsewhere moving forward.)”
“Ultimately, High and Rising gives flowers to De La for inspiring a Black boy from Landover to be his genuine self,” Moore concludes. “It doesn’t give passes to albums and attitudes that were less than ideal.”
Still, other fans are less than enthused about an unauthorized book about the hip-hop legends. It remains to be seen if De La Soul will take legal action against Moore, or what the crew has in store for their fans in 2025.

Chris Brown offered a heartfelt message of hope to those who may be in a “dark place” and struggling.
The R&B star was a recent guest on Kai Cenat’s live stream and they had a blast!

Try to create or try to do something that you can kinda like put that emotion into. Put whatever you feel into it. Or put your pain – you can put it into whatever you like, you love, your creativity.
I can only say be yourself and try to learn on this journey, you know?
This journey is for all of us. It’s a bumpy road and I don’t feel like it’s fun unless it’s a little bit of bumps in the road.
In closing, Chris Brown said, “Be yourself and try to love yourself a little bit more each day.”
Hopefully, Chris Brown’s message reaches the hearts of those who need it most.

Why Isn't Russell Crowe in 'Gladiator II'? Director Recalls Talks to Bring Him Back & What Went Wrong
re than two decades after Russell Crowe won an Oscar for Gladiator, the franchise is continuing with a long-awaited sequel.
Fans across the globe likely went into theaters this weekend hoping that the actor would make a cameo in the new movie, which stars the likes of Paul Mescal and Pedro Pascal. However, Russell was not involved because his character died in the original movie.
Despite his character’s death, director Ridley Scott revealed that there were once talks to bring Russell back to life. He explained how they were going to make that happen and why the plan ultimately fell apart.
Speaking to People, Ridley said that he and Russell touched base for a sequel “around 18 years ago.”
“I had Nick Cave writing the script and I kept saying [to Russell], ‘But you’re dead.’ And he said, ‘I know I’m dead. And I want to come back from the dead,’” he recalled.
To make that happen, Ridley proposed creating a “portal to bring him back from the dead.”
“The only way of doing it was to go to another battle and through a dying warrior, he comes back into the spirit of the warrior,” he said. “So that’s his portal.”
Why didn’t it work out? According to Ridley, it would have led to them casting someone else to play the character anyways.
“He said, ‘So that’s no f—ing good, is it?’” the director said, adding, “It didn’t really work.”

Jason Kelce's Wife Kylie Kelce Is Pregnant, Expecting Baby No. 4
Jason Kelce and Kylie Kelce are adding another player to their team.
The Monday Night Football analyst and former field hockey player—who already share daughters Wyatt, 5, Elliotte, 3, and Bennett, 20 months—are expecting their fourth baby together, Kylie shared on social media.
In a photo shared to Instagram Nov. 22, all three of the couple's kids posed together while wearing pink sweaters that read "big sister." And while Elliotte donned a big grin on her face, her other two sisters were much less amused by their new titles, with Wyatt holding her face in fear and Bennett absolutely sobbing.
Captioning the emotion-filled image, Kylie quipped, "I feel like we captured a very accurate representation of how each of the girls feel about getting another sister."
She added, "At least Ellie, mom and dad are on the same page!"
Of course, they weren't the only ones on the same page. Following Kylie's pregnancy announcement, friends and family shared their excitement with the couple, who tied the knot in 2018.
Jason's former NFL team the Philadelphia Eagles sent their well-wishes, commenting "congratulations" under the post, while Brittany Mahomes—whose husband Patrick Mahomes plays alongside Jason's brother Travis Kelce on the Kansas City Chiefs—wrote, "Ahhhhhh Congrats you guys!!!"
And though Wyatt and Bennett may not have been especially pleased about their family's new addition, they've had plenty else to be thrilled about as of late. In fact, Kylie recently shared a magical look at the "quick girls trip" she and the kids took to Disney World earlier this month.
“We had birthday celebrations, matching shirts, and a reunion with our favorites, Anthony and Kelsey,” the 32-year-old wrote on Instagram Nov. 11, alongside a carousel of images, including a group snap with Rapunzel. "Thank you for the most magical time!”
And as for Jason? The 37-year-old is fine with his daughters having different opinions about milestone moments. After all, one of his favorite parts of being a dad is watching them come into their own.
As Jason explained during a May episode of his New Heights podcast, "It's really cool to hear your kids experiencing things on their own and then come back to share them with you."

And just like that! Jonathan Majors’ Ex-Girlfriend Drops Assault and Defamation Lawsuit
Grace Jabbari, Jonathan Majors’ ex-girlfriend, has dismissed her assault and defamation lawsuit against him. A joint notice from both parties’ attorneys confirmed the dismissal with prejudice.
Jabbari filed the suit in March, accusing Majors of domestic abuse and defamation after the “Creed III” star was convicted in December 2023 of two misdemeanor counts for assaulting Jabbari in the back seat of an SUV. Earlier this year, he was sentenced to a 52-week domestic violence program for counseling.
Per Variety, Jabbari’s lawsuit alleged a “pattern of ongoing domestic abuse” that began in 2021 and extended through 2023, which only intensified when they moved in together in London two years ago.
Attorneys for both parties noted in a joint filing with the court on Thursday that “all claims against Defendant in the above-captioned action are hereby dismissed with prejudice.”
Meanwhile, Majors and his girlfriend, actress Meagan Good, announced their engagement during the EBONY Power 100 Gala at NYA Studios West in Los Angeles
The milestone comes two months after pals of the actress claimed Good is covering Majors’ expenses following his headline-making legal issues.
According to The Jasmine Brand, Good has been financially supporting Majors after his career suffered due to allegations of abusing his ex-girlfriend. Majors was arrested in March 2023 for strangulation, assault, and harassment of Grace.
Following the allegations, Majors was dropped by his management company and lost a slew of acting work. A source said, “Meagan pays for everything. They really wanted this dog, and she got stuck paying the $75,000 training bill. Like, that’s crazy!”
Good, who finalized her divorce from pastor DeVon Franklin in June 2022, also allegedly pays child support for Majors’s young daughter from a previous relationship.

Former “American Idol” Contestant Caleb Kennedy Sentenced to Eight Years in Prison for Fatal Truck Crash Into Living Room
Caleb Kennedy, a former “American Idol” contestant, was sentenced to prison for his role in a fatal crash in February 2022.
The 20-year-old pled guilty to felony DUI resulting in death after driving his Ford F-150 into a home in Pacolet, South Carolina, killing 54-year-old Larry Duane Parris. Kennedy was 17 at the time of the incident and was arrested the same day. Initially sentenced to 25 years in prison and fined $25,100, his sentence was later reduced to eight years and a fine of $15,100. He will also serve five years of probation and attend counseling. Three years of his sentence will be served on home detention, with credit for nearly three years already served.
Kennedy’s attorney, Ryan Beasley, explained that prescription medication and possibly THC contributed to the crash
“This wasn’t such an egregious act that you see most of the time, where people were drinking and driving, then they hit somebody at night or going the wrong way down the road. This was a weird reaction from his prescription medicine and possibly THC,” Beasley stated.
Beasley also expressed sympathy for the victim’s family, adding, “A very good person (Larry Parris) died, and I feel so bad for the Parris family.”
Kennedy, once a rising star on “American Idol,” had to leave the show after a controversial social media post resurfaced, showing him beside someone wearing a Klan-like hood. Despite his struggles, Kennedy has expressed remorse and acknowledged the pressures of fame.

Tyron McAlpin, a 34-Year-Old Deaf Black Man with Cerebral Palsy, Pursues Legal Action Against Phoenix After Being Repeatedly Tased by Police
Tyron McAlpin, a 34-year-old Black man with cerebral palsy and deafness, is pursuing legal action against the city of Phoenix following an incident on August 19th, 2024, where police officers repeatedly tased him.
His legal team filed a notice of claim on November 19th, demanding $3.5 million in damages. The lawsuit also targets three officers involved in the incident, citing racial profiling, among other allegations. The confrontation began when officers Benjamin Harris and Kyle Sue responded to a trespassing call at a Circle K store. A white man involved in the incident falsely accused McAlpin of assault and directed the officers to him. Body cam footage shows Harris instructing McAlpin to stop, then quickly grabbing him. A struggle ensued, with Harris using a stun gun on McAlpin four times while both officers punched him more than a dozen times.
After the incident, McAlpin’s attorneys claim that false reports were filed, including accusations of aggravated assault and theft of his own phone. McAlpin was wrongfully jailed for three weeks before Maricopa County Attorney Rachel Mitchell dropped the charges.
