#RHOA: Cynthia Bailey and Kenya Moore aren't speaking after shocking sex poster scandal?
Did their friendship contract expire? Cynthia Bailey revealed she hasn’t spoken to “Real Housewives of Atlanta” co-star Kenya Moore since the latter displayed an explicit poster of newbie Brittany Eady in front of Bravo cameras.
“I’ve reached out after the fact. We texted for a little bit,” she told Page Six’s “Virtual Reali-Tea” hosts Danny Murphy and Evan Real, explaining that she stopped hearing from Moore after texting that she was “disappointed in how she handled the situation.”
“My feelings were coming from a place of love and protection for Kenya,” she continued, adding that she reached out again when she heard Moore was fired.
“I tried to call … and I texted and said, ‘Hey, I’m here for you when you’re ready to talk,'” the former model, 58, claimed.
“I love Kenya. Whenever she’s ready to ring this phone, honey, I can’t answer it fast enough. I have to respect her time and her space.”
The “BMF” actress also noted she didn’t know Eady that well and had only filmed with her “maybe twice” by the time things got nasty during the grand opening of Moore’s hair salon.
“But I know Kenya. You know, we have a friendship; we’ve been together for years and years and years,” she shared.
“I just felt like the response was just beneath Kenya,” Bailey added.
Last June, Page Six revealed that Moore stunned attendees at her Kenya Moore Hair Spa grand opening when she brought out posters of Eady’s mugshots and an image of her performing oral sex.
Bailey further explained that she knew how hard Moore, 54, worked on her hair salon and thought it was “sad and unfortunate” that her friend’s drama with Eady “overshadowed” its grand opening.
“I just hold her to a certain standard ’cause I do know her and I know she’s a woman of class,” Bailey told us. “Kenya’s amazing, but I just felt like it was just beneath her. I couldn’t support it.”
Days after the incident, Page Six exclusively reported that the mom of one had been suspended indefinitely.
Last June, Page Six revealed that Moore stunned attendees at her Kenya Moore Hair Spa grand opening when she brought out posters of Eady’s mugshots and an image of her performing oral sex.
Moore’s poster attack was triggered by Eady threatening her with a “pistol” after a verbal altercation at a dinner with the rest of the cast.
This story was featured on a recent episode of Page Six Radio, a daily morning show serving up the hottest celebrity headlines, exclusives, and behind-the-scenes buzz. Catch Danny, Evan and Ian chat with celebrity guests every weekday on SiriusXM from 8 a.m. to 10 a.m. ET on Stars Ch. 109.

Moore — who shares 6-year-old daughter Brooklyn with ex-husband Marc Daly — shaded Bravo while addressing the incident on Instagram.
“My life is blessed. Myself and my daughter will continue to thrive in a non toxic environment where we feel appreciated and most importantly, protected. Thank you God for covering us. 🙏🏾,” she wrote.
However, last November, the former Miss USA admitted that she didn’t “have to take it that far” during her feud with Eady.
“Hindsight is always 50/50. If I could do it all over again — I believe the photos were very distasteful, and I elevated the situation,” she said on “The Tamron Hall Show” at the time.
“I’ve elevated situations before, and I’ve taken full accountability for the things that I’ve done,” she continued. “I am sorry for what I’ve done. I didn’t have to take it that far.”

#MusicNews: Charlie Wilson Announces ‘Uncle Charlie’s R&B Cookout Tour’ With Babyface, K-Ci Hailey and El DeBarge

Charlie Wilson has teamed up with his fellow legendary musical friends Babyface, K-Ci Hailey and El DeBarge to announce Uncle Charlie’s R&B Cookout Tour.
Produced by Live Nation Urban and P Music Group, the U.S. tour kicks off Aug. 27 at Hollywood Bowl in Los Angeles.
The R&B icons will make stops in Detroit, Chicago, Boston, Philadelphia, Baltimore and more before concluding Oct. 12 in Memphis.
The forthcoming tour “promises to deliver a must-see cultural experience that celebrates legacy, love, and the timeless spirit of Black music.”
“This tour is unlike anything I’ve done before. As someone who truly loves R&B, getting to share the stage with my friends Babyface, K-Ci, and El is something I’m really looking forward to,” says Wilson.
He continues, “I’ve been performing for so long that my audience isn’t just made up of fans, it really has become a family. Over the years, I’ve come to recognize so many faces, and we’ve grown together through the music. The R&B cookout is gonna be one big family reunion for us and our fans.”
Michael Paran, CEO of P Music Group, adds, “The idea for Uncle Charlie’s R&B Cookout Tour came naturally because of the bond Charlie has built with his fans and the relationships I’ve developed with Babyface, K-Ci, and El. I’ve seen firsthand how their music brings people together like family, laughing, dancing, and reminiscing on early memories.”
Paran further comments, “This tour is about more than just great performances. It’s about capturing that feeling—the joy, the energy, and the nostalgia you feel when you’re surrounded by genuine love. Instead of building the perfect cookout playlist, I wanted to bring it to life with some of the greatest songs we’ve shared memories to and grown up on.”
Presale tickets will be available starting Tuesday (April 15) at noon local time through Thursday (April 17) at 10 p.m. local time with the code: cookout.
Tickets go on sale to the general public Friday, April 18, at 10 a.m. local time.
It’s worth noting that in select cities, fans can enjoy an exclusive all-you-can-eat VIP cookout experience. This one-of-a-kind pre-show event brings the backyard to the venue with a curated menu of classic cookout favorites, specialty cocktails, and laid-back vibes inspired by the culture that raised us.
Uncle Charlie’s R&B Cookout Tour will undoubtedly showcase these R&B all-stars’ most iconic hits and fan favorites. Wilson will incorporate music from his days in The Gap Band and from his solo career. He may even perform some of his latest material.
In 2024, Wilson logged his 10th No. 1 on Billboard’s Adult R&B Airplay chart with “Superman,” his empowering autobiographical anthem.
“I am incredibly grateful and humbled by the overwhelming support for ‘Superman,’” he said. “To have another #1 hit on the Billboard Adult R&B chart is truly an important achievement to me, especially with a song so personal highlighting my wife’s endless love and support of me. She truly put the cape back on my back after very rough times.”
Who knows, he may even bring out Babyface and K-Ci Hailey to perform their hit “No Stoppin’ Us,” also featuring Johnny Gill, which topped the Adult R&B Airplay in 2022.
Babyface has plenty of options to choose from for his setlist, ranging from his chart-topping solo hits to songs he’s written for other artists.
His most recent hit is 2023’s “As a Matter of Fact,” which topped the Adult R&B Airplay chart for five weeks. It marked his first solo No. 1 on that chart in over 25 years.
Before that, in October 2022, Babyface released his album Girls Night Out, which included collaborations with the new generation of women in R&B, including Ari Lennox, Coco Jones, Ella Mai, Kehlani, Muni Long, Queen Naija and others.
While it’s been over five years since Hailey last released music (“Jesus Saves” and “Tears In Heaven“), the vocalist will likely treat fans with selections from Jodeci’s catalog, as well as K-Ci & JoJo and maybe even his solo works.
His inspirational track “Jesus Saves” was originally written and recorded when he was 12. “It was my grandmother’s favorite song, and all my aunties and everybody they just loved that song… this is what we needed. The title alone explains itself,” Hailey explained in an interview.
“I wanted to go back and let the people know like you heard me talking about ‘baby I love you,’ …but now I want to go back to roots where I started. And let my gospel fans out there, let my family and friends know I haven’t forgot y’all.”
Meanwhile, concertgoers can expect El DeBarge to take them back to his days as the lead vocalist of DeBarge, whose many hits include “I Like It,” “All This Love,” “Who’s Holding Donna Now?” among others. Most recently, he appeared on Tyrese’s album Beautiful Pain (2024) on “Runaway.”

#HipHopNews: 50 Cent & Ja Rule Trade Blows Over Irv Gotti Disrespect & 'Nuclear' Threat
50 Cent and Ja Rule‘s long-running feud has reescalated after the latter said he was ready to “go nuclear” on his old enemy over his disrespectful comments about the late Irv Gotti.
Appearing on The Breakfast Club last week, Ja revealed that he was angry about 50 mocking the recent death of his close friend and former Murder Inc. label boss Gotti, but was talked out of responding to him by Kenneth “Supreme” McGriff.
50 fired back shortly after, posting a clip of Ja’s comments on Instagram and writing: “The Breakfast Club should be ashamed of themselves asking questions that perpetuate violence. This fool has been ready to go what he calls nuclear for 22 years. LOL.”
The G-Unit mogul then further taunted the late Gotti by adding: “Ya man in my Runtz right now!”
50’s sneering post (which has since been deleted) caused Ja Rule to launch into a social media rant in which he rubbished his career, brought up the 2000 attempt on his life and even accused his longtime nemesis of being a snitch.
“@50cent SUCK MY DICK you bitch ass n-gga… I already ate your lunch shut up!!!” he wrote on X. “Until you do something to the n-ggas that shot you you can’t troll no more… [laughing face emoji] handle your business chump lmao…
He added: “@50cent N-gga you’re a used car salesman everything you do is trash music 1 good album after that trash liquor trash tv shows yeah I said it TRASH how many times you gonna make the same show that coke stepped on parenting trash character trash n-gga you the garbage man… [laughing face emoji].
“From now on your name boo boo that’s what they called you on the streets right lmfao… boo boo the fool… [laughing face emoji] 50 cent is a street n-gga from Brooklyn you boo boo from Queens… Mc gusto cb4 ass n-gga… [laughing face emoji].
In response to a fan who argued that 50 Cent “ended Murder Inc.,” Ja hit back: “You’re right he told the Feds murder inc had him shot and they put us under federal indictment… [rat emoji].”
The “Holla” hitmaker then doubled down on his claim by posting alleged paperwork which referred to Curtis Jackson, which is 50’s real name, as an “informant.
“@50cent Go ahead and lie tell these good people tell the paperwork fake so I can send this next shot… WE GOT RECEIPTS boo boo…,” Ja wrote.
He also posted screenshots of a HipHopDX article from 2016 about former G-Unit affiliate Bang ‘Em Smurf claiming that 50 sought an order of protection against Murder Inc. following the stabbing of a studio engineer.
“Say I’m lying n-gga I DARE YOU… n-gga said he had to talk yayo out of telling [laughing face emojis] you can’t make this shit up…,” Ja added.
50 Cent has yet to respond to Ja Rule’s rant, although he has previously addressed the allegations that he snitched on Murder Inc.
“They’ll say, ‘He a rat’ or, ‘He this, this and that.’ All you gotta do is ask them who I told on? I ain’t never told on no n-gga in my life,” he said on the Cigar Talk podcast in 2020.
“In the Preme situation, look at his case. It’ll tell you who told on him. My name ain’t in that case. You see what I’m saying? They tried to use that I needed an order of protection, but why it feels like I’m the bully out here then?
“You needed protection, n-gga. And your protection gone! That’s the truth!” Fif added. “N-ggas will try to put a spin on anything to try to make it look good and then when you get in disputes with younger artists, they don’t know what to use against you so they use what someone else used. So they go back and they go, ‘Oh you this!’”

Chinese TikTok Users Expose Luxury Brands’ Alleged Usage Of Cheap Manufacturers

When it comes to the tariff war between the U.S. and China, the latter is winning after taking to TikTok to shed light on the alleged truth behind how some luxury brands are manufactured.
Some Chinese manufacturers have claimed that several popular high-end companies rely on their low cost and in turn, hike up the prices of their items to consumers. The revelation came after Donald Trump announced a 90-day pause on reciprocal tariffs for all countries, except China — whose tariff rate increased from 84 percent to 125 percent.
Chinese president Xi Jinping responded to Trump by imposing 125 percent tariffs on the United States, and enforcing their own export restrictions. The allegations and subsequent reactions began to circulate on TikTok. Reportedly over 80 percent of luxury bags are made in China despite companies labeling the goods as being made in France and Italy.
As predicted, there has been discourse over the validity of such claims. Fashion Historian Cora Harrington tweeted, “The thing about videos saying a knockoff product is exactly the same as a more expensive product is that most people don’t know what they’re looking for, which makes them incredibly easy to scam. Hermes bags are a good example of this.”
Someone else claimed that his Instagram account was “suspended without any warning” after Hermès allegedly filed a complaint. Some believed the brand was protecting its trademark while others feel they were either concealing the truth or elsewhere, there was a concern about promoting counterfeit products.
Newsweek reported that Hermès does not manufacture its bags in China, but rather the brand houses workshops in various parts of France.
“Hermès bags are crafted exclusively in our ateliers in France by highly trained artisans. We do not outsource production of our leather goods to China or any other country. Any claims suggesting otherwise are categorically false and may be the result of counterfeit misinformation,” the brand said in a statement.
Bloomberg reported that manufacturers are also exposing brands including Lululemon and Nike and giving customers the chance to buy them at a fraction of the cost.

Tony Rock, Chris Rock’s Brother, Calls Will Smith’s New Album “Trash”

When someone slaps your family member on national television, it is sensible to believe you will never give that person credit publicly ever again. Thus, it is no surprise that Tony Rock, Chris Rock’s brother, recently called Will Smith‘s new album, Based On A True Story, “trash.”
TMZ caught up with the actor and got his take on the March LP. “Will Smith has an album out and it’s a piece of sh*t and he addresses the Oscars,” the 50-year-old comedian said. Rock admitted that he had not listened to the album and didn’t plan to, but he knew enough to slam it due to the fact he believes Smith used The Oscars to draw attention to his new music.
“Everybody keeps telling me to stop talking about [The Oscars] but then he f**king puts it on a song,” he added. “So that gives me leeway to talk about it again. Album’s trash. I’m just assuming. I haven’t listened to it. I refuse to listen to it. This album is probably sh*tty as f**k because I haven’t heard anything about it other than ‘Oh, he addresses your brother.’ If that’s the only selling point, that’s a sh*tty album.”
Will Smith raps about the Oscars slap incident, which took place three years ago, multiple times on his new album. “I heard he down bad, I heard he won the Oscar, but he had to give it back / And you know they only made him do that sh*t because he’s Black,” he rapped on “Int. Barbershop – Day.”
On “You Lookin For Me?” he rapped, “Took a lot, I’m back on top, y’all gon’ havе to get acclimated / Won’t stop, my sh*t still hot evеn though I won’t get nominated.” Big Sean, Russ, Joyner Lucas, Teyana Taylor, and his son, Jaden, all appeared on the 14-song

OH MY! Lil Nas X rushed to hospital after facial paralysis

Lil Nas X has been hospitalised after “losing control” of the right side of his face. Medical experts suggest this condition may be consistent with Bell’s palsy, which affects thousands of Americans each year.
The 26-year-old hip-hop star has shared a video from his hospital bed in a gown and Von Dutch baseball cap as he appeared to be suffering from partial facial paralysis. The unexpected health scare comes just weeks after completing his international tour.
“Soooo lost control of the right side of my face,” he wrote on Instagram. The post quickly garnered significant attention, highlighting the artist’s massive online influence
In the clip shared with his 10.4 million followers on Monday, April 14, he grabbed his jaw and attempted to smile, saying: “This is me doing a full smile right now by the way. It’s like, what the f–k? Bro, I can’t even laugh right now, bro. What the f–k? Ah! Oh my God!” His candid approach to sharing his medical condition reflects his typically transparent relationship with fans.
In a later post to his Instagram Story, the ‘Old Town Road’ hitmaker showed both sides of his face and said: “We normal over here. We get crazy over here.” His characteristic humor remained intact despite the concerning health situation.
“I’m so cooked,” he wrote. The phrase, popular among Gen Z social media users, typically refers to being exhausted or overwhelmed—an apt description for someone dealing with an unexpected medical issue.
In another post, he urged his fans not to worry about him and insisted he is “OK.” His reassurance came after numerous concerned messages flooded his social media accounts from worried fans worldwide.
He said: “Guys I am OK!! Stop being sad for me! Shake Ur a** for me instead! (sic)” This playful response aligns with his typically irreverent public persona that has helped him amass millions of followers across various platforms.
And in a separate Instagram Story, he shared a selfie he took in hospital and captioned the picture: “Imma look funny for a lil but but that’s it. (sic)” The post received substantial engagement within hours.
A number of celebrity friends replied to his post on Instagram to send him messages of support. The outpouring demonstrates the strong connections he’s built within the entertainment industry since his breakout success.
“Get well baby,” Taraji P. Henson commented. The acclaimed actress has previously expressed admiration for Lil Nas X‘s boundary-pushing artistry.
And Wanda Sykes added: “Get well love. Sometimes your body tells you to sit down somewhere. Rest up…” The comedian’s supportive message was one among many from fellow entertainers and fans alike.
Nas recently released his new EP ‘Days Before Dreamboy’, and insisted he wanted his current “era” to be focused on being true to himself. The project marks a new creative direction for the artist.
“I wanna be myself more than ever this era. I want to be completely free out there, only doing the things that I wanna do,” he told PEOPLE magazine. This philosophy extends to his transparent approach to sharing his health challenges with his audience.
“If I do not want to do it, I’m not doing it … If I don’t want be there, I’m not gonna be there. I think it’s more important than ever to really stand in myself and my power and recognize where I’m taking my energy and where I don’t want to take it.” This perspective on personal boundaries has resonated with his predominantly young fanbase.
Medical professionals note that facial paralysis like what Lil Nas X is experiencing can have various causes, including Bell’s palsy, which typically resolves within weeks to months. While the artist hasn’t disclosed his specific diagnosis, his upbeat attitude suggests optimism about recovery.
The Grammy-winning artist was scheduled to appear at several upcoming music festivals this summer, though it remains unclear if his medical condition will affect these plans. His management team has been monitoring the situation closely while maintaining regular updates with event organizers.
This health scare comes during what has otherwise been a productive period for the artist, who has been working on new music and expanding his creative portfolio into other entertainment ventures including fashion collaborations and digital content creation.
Fans worldwide have shown their support through social media campaigns and positive messages, creating a wave of encouragement for the artist during this challenging time. The outpouring of support highlights the strong connection Lil Nas X has built with his audience through his authenticity and openness.

Whoopi confirms ‘Sister Act 3’ will honor Maggie Smith
Whoopi Goldberg says there are plans to shoot some scenes for ‘Sister Act 3’ in Italy as a tribute to the late Dame Maggie Smith. The planned filming location carries special significance as Italy is home to the Vatican and represents the heart of Catholicism, making it a meaningful backdrop for the nun-centered story.
The 69-year-old actress will be reprising her role as Sister Mary Clarence in the highly anticipated Disney+ sequel to 1993’s ‘Sister Act 2: Back in the Habit’ and the original ‘Sister Act’ film, which was released in 1992. The franchise has maintained a devoted fan base for over three decades, with both films becoming cultural touchstones in family entertainment.
“We lost Maggie, you know, and we want to bring all the nuns here to kind of share that,” Whoopi revealed during an appearance on Italian TV show ‘Che Tempo Che Fa’, that the script has been changed since Maggie’s death in September 2024 at the age of 89 to acknowledge her character Reverend Mother in the sequel. Smith’s portrayal of the stern but ultimately loving Mother Superior became one of her most recognized roles among mainstream audiences.
When asked if ‘Sister Act 3‘ might have some scenes shot in Italy and why, Whoopi answered: “I hope so. It would be wonderful because we want to do it for a couple of reasons. Because we lost Maggie, you know, and we want to bring all the nuns here to kind of share that. The country’s rich architectural history and religious significance provide a perfect setting for honoring Smith’s legacy.
“It’s the perfect place. Italy is the perfect place. The Italian locations would add authenticity to the film, as Italy hosts over 500 convents and monasteries throughout the country.
“We are waiting for Disney to say yes or no. Keep your fingers crossed.” Disney+ has been expanding its content with revivals of beloved franchises, with the streaming platform reaching over 150 million subscribers worldwide.
Elsewhere in her interview on ‘Che Tempo Che Fa’, Whoopi talked about her five-decade spanning career which has featured acclaimed movies like ‘The Color Purple’, ‘Jumpin’ Jack Flash’ and ‘Ghost’, with the latter supernatural romance film earning her a Best Supporting Actress Oscar for her performance as psychic Oda Mae Brown opposite Patrick Swayze as Sam Wheat. Her Oscar win made her one of the few performers to achieve EGOT status – winning Emmy, Grammy, Oscar, and Tony awards.
“I am very lucky. I’ve had some really good movies and some very bad ones too,” the Hollywood legend admits her career has also seen her appear in some less than impressive movies and she cited 1996’s science-fiction buddy cop movie ‘Theodore Rex‘, in which she played a police detective partnered with an anthropomorphic Tyrannosaurus named Theodore Rex, as being the worse. The film had a troubled production history and was originally intended for theatrical release before being relegated to direct-to-video status.
She said: “I am very lucky. I’ve had some really good movies and some very bad ones too. Goldberg‘s career spans over 150 film and television credits, demonstrating her versatility across comedy, drama, and family entertainment.
“There is a very bad one. It’s called ‘Theodore Rex’. It’s about me and a talking dinosaur, in the future … it was pretty bad.” Despite its poor reception, ‘Theodore Rex’ cost approximately $33.5 million to produce, making it one of the most expensive direct-to-video releases at that time.
Whoopi and Maggie were the main cast members in ‘Sister Act’ and ‘Sister Act 2: Back in the Habit’. Their on-screen chemistry was frequently cited by critics as a highlight of both films, with their characters’ evolution from adversaries to allies resonating with audiences.
The original film saw Whoopi star as Deloris Van Cartier, a singer who goes undercover at a convent as Sister Mary Clarence after being put in a witness protection program. The film’s innovative blend of religious themes with popular music created a unique entertainment experience that appealed to diverse audiences.
It was a huge hit and banked $232 million at the box office. When adjusted for inflation, this would equal approximately $490 million in today’s dollars, highlighting the film’s tremendous commercial success and enduring popularity that has spanned generations of viewers.

Diddy is now facing 5 criminal charges overall ... two counts of sex trafficking, two counts of transportation to engage in prostitution, and one count of racketeering ... and he's pled not guilty to all charges.
Diddy's legal team has previously described the two alleged victims in the case as former girlfriends ... and they've already essentially referred to "Victim-1" as being Cassie.
Jury selection for Diddy's upcoming trial starts May 5.

Following their historic flight to the edge of space with an all-female crew, Gayle King and Lauren Sanchez addressed the ongoing scrutiny. Among the most vocal critics was actress Olivia Munn who balked at the exorbitant cost of the mission.
During a press conference, Gayle King remarked, "Anybody that's criticizing it doesn't really understand what is happening here." She added, "We can all speak to the response we're getting from young women from young girls about what this represents."
Jeff Bezos' fiancée Sanchez chimed in, "I get really fired up," before inviting critics to witness firsthand the dedication of Blue Origin's employees, who are deeply invested in the mission's goals.
"They put their heart and soul into this vehicle. So when we hear comments like that, I just say, trust me. Come with me. I'll show you what this is about, and it's, it's really eye-opening," Sánchez continued.
"They love their work and they love the mission and it's a big deal for them. So when we hear comments like that, I just say, trust me. Come with me. I'll show you what this is about, and it's, it's really eye opening," she went on.
The journey, marking a significant milestone as the first all-female crew since 1963, included pop star Katy Perry, rocket scientist Aisha Bowe, bioastronautics research scientist Amanda Nguyen, and film producer Kerianne Flynn.
During her appearance on "Today With Jenna and Friends", Munn was skeptical of the flight, "What's the point? Is it historic that you guys are going on a ride? I think it's a bit gluttonous."
At the press conference, Bowe shared her personal journey, having overcome stereotypes to achieve academic and professional success in aerospace engineering. "I went from pre-algebra in community college to two degrees in aerospace engineering to working for NASA," she reflected, urging critics to understand the broader impact of such missions.

John Boyega Only Had About $60 in His Bank Account When J.J. Abrams Called About ‘Star Wars,’
John Boyega appeared at the Chicago Comic & Entertainment Expo (via People) and revealed he only had about $60 in his bank account when J.J. Abrams called him to meet about his “Star Wars” casting. The actor then had to spend around $43 dollars on the trip to meet Abrams, meaning Boyega more or less had $17 dollars in his account when he got the confirmation that he’d be starring as Finn in “The Force Awakens.”
“I had been auditioning for so long, so I felt like he kind of took away my dignity a little bit,” Boyega said about getting the call from Abrams. “I decided to pretend as if I was busy, you know, when you just pretend that you’re busy. ‘I got other stuff to do, J.J.’ He goes, ‘Where are you?’ And I said, ‘I’m at this art show in Greenwich, mate. I’m very, very busy. Where are you?’ He goes, ‘Well, I’m in Mayfair and [at a] restaurant. Need to talk to you now. And we’ll talk about something important.’ And I go, ‘Okay, okay, I’m gonna be right there.’ At the time I had £45 in my account. It took £33 and 83p to get to J.J. Do the math.”
“So I go in. Each step I took, I was nervous,” Boyega continued. “I was like, ‘Okay, cool.’ You know, J.J. is a phenomenal, nice guy, and if he was to tell me I didn’t get the part, he would still feed me. And so I sat down and, J.J. just said, ‘Thank you so much for coming back. I know we’ve kind of [strained] you with this amount of auditions.’ At that time, I took it upon myself to try and get another audition and go like, ‘J.J., please. Look, I can audition again. I can do British, Scottish, Nigerian, whatever. And he goes, ‘You’re [in “Star Wars”].'”
The actor said “the moment froze” when he heard the news. “Like I even noticed how many sugar cubes were in this very crush little cup that was on the table. Everything felt very surreal,” he added. “And then this just puts the ‘Star Wars’ stamp on it: [the movie’s co-writer Lawrence Kasdan] walks out and he said, ‘Kid, this movie’s gonna change your life.’ And that’s the Hollywood shit. You know what I’m saying?”
Boyega debuted as Finn in “Star Wars: The Force Awakens,” which grossed more than $2 billion at the worldwide box office. He reprised the character in “The Last Jedi” and “The Rise of Skywalker,” both of which crossed the $1 billion mark worldwide. His role in the sequel trilogy led to online harassment from racist “Star Wars” fans upset with a Black actor playing a lead hero in the space franchise. Boyega told GQ magazine in 2020 that Disney fumbled diversity in his movies.
“What I would say to Disney is do not bring out a Black character, market them to be much more important in the franchise than they are and then have them pushed to the side. It’s not good. I’ll say it straight up,” Boyega said at the time. “You guys knew what to do with Daisy Ridley, you knew what to do with Adam Driver. But when it came to Kelly Marie Tran, when it came to John Boyega, you know fuck all… They gave all the nuance to Adam Driver, all the nuance to Daisy Ridley. Let’s be honest. Daisy knows this. Adam knows this. Everybody knows. I’m not exposing anything.”
Boyega made headlines last month for his appearance in the Apple TV+ documentary “Number One on the Call Sheet: Black Leading Men in Hollywood,” where he continued to open up about his “Star Wars” experience.
“Lemme tell ya, ‘Star Wars’ always had the vibe of being in the most whitest, elite space. It’s a franchise that’s so white that a Black person existing in [it] was something,” Boyega said in the documentary. “You can always tell it’s something when some ‘Star Wars’ fans try to say, ‘Well, we had Lando Calrissian and had Samuel L. Jackson!’ It’s like telling me how many cookie chips are in the cookie dough. It’s like, they just scattered that in there, bro!”
“They’re okay with us playing the best friend, but once we touch their heroes, once we lead, once we trailblaze, it’s like, ‘Oh my God, it’s just a bit too much! They’re pandering,’” the actor added, while also acknowledging that being cast in the franchise was a “fundamental moment” in his career.

Ryan Coogler’s ‘Sinners’ Scores Perfect 100% Rotten Tomatoes, Hailed as Year’s Best

Ryan Coogler’s much-anticipated vampire horror film “Sinners” doesn’t hit theaters until April 18, but early press screenings have critics already calling it one of the best films of the year. With a flawless 100% Rotten Tomatoes score based on 37 reviews, the buzz is loud and glowing.
The film, set in the Jim Crow-era American South of the 1930s, follows the journey of twin brothers (both played by Michael B. Jordan) who try to leave their troubled lives behind and return to their hometown for a fresh start, only to find an even greater evil waiting to welcome them back. Joining him are Hailee Steinfeld, Jack O’Connell, and Wunmi Mosaku, with an original score by longtime Coogler collaborator Ludwig Göransson.
As GamesRadar reports, critics are calling “Sinners” a genre-defying masterpiece. BJ Colangelo of Fangoria declared, “Sinners is currently Coogler’s magnum opus… This isn’t only one of the best horror films of the year, it’s one of the best films, period.” Linda Marric from HeyUGuys praised it as “a film of breathtaking audacity.”
The film marks a major shift for Coogler, best known for his work on “Black Panther” and “Creed.” Karl Delossantos of Smash Cut Reviews calls it “One of the most devilishly entertaining movies of the year.” Eric Goldman of IGN Movie wrote, “Ryan Coogler enters the horror realm and nails it in Sinners,” while Andrew J. Salazar from Discussing Film called it “Coogler’s most audacious work yet, creating a fresh spin on vampire horror stories.”
Tessa Smith of Mama’s Geeky dubbed it “a masterclass in filmmaking.” Other reviewers echoed the praise. Matt Neglia (Next Best Picture) called it “one of the best films of the year,” and Matt Singer (ScreenCrush) said it’s “the best movie I’ve seen in 2025 so far.” Emmanuel Noisette (The Movie Blog) highlighted the film’s deeper layers, saying, “What sets Sinners apart is its thematic depth. The film’s exploration of duality is masterfully layered.”
In a sea of sequels and reboots, “Sinners” stands out as a bold, original studio film. As Jeremy Mathai of Slashfilm put it: “We simply don’t get original blockbusters with this level of passion and on this scale anymore, at least outside of a Christopher Nolan or M. Night Shyamalan production.”
“Sinners” is emerging not only as a standout in horror but as one of 2025’s most defining films. It’s currently the highest-rated movie of the year, and the only film this year shot on IMAX film cameras.

#SNEAKERFAB: Kool-Aid and Nike Team Up for a Ja Morant Sneaker Collab
Nike and Kool-Aid are turning up the heat this summer with one of the most unexpected sneaker collaborations yet. Announced Monday, the Nike x Kool-Aid Ja 2 brings together the worlds of basketball, nostalgia, and flavor in a collection that’s as vibrant as Ja Morant himself.
Blending Ja’s signature Nike sneaker line with Kool-Aid’s iconic identity, the collab is inspired by Ja’s childhood memories in South Carolina—specifically, the Kool-Aid always waiting in his grandmother’s fridge.
“I remember my grandma always having some Kool-Aid in the fridge, and that’s part of my special childhood memories,” said Morant. “This collab brings all of that to life.”
The first drop, launching May 16, features a performance-ready Ja 2 with a wild, two-tone color gradient pulled straight from Ja’s favorite flavors—Blue Raspberry and Cherry, with Orange and Lemon Lime accents on the sole. Playful details include a glow-in-the-dark outsole, Ja’s signature “12 AM” text, and of course, the Kool-Aid Man busting through a wall with his famous “Ohhh Yeah!” catchphrase.
A second drop, coming in July, will lean even deeper into the Kool-Aid legacy with bold colorways inspired by the brand’s iconic red and all the same high-energy design elements.
To celebrate the partnership, Kool-Aid is also dropping its first new flavor pack in over five years. The limited-edition Mix n’ Kicks combo lets fans mix and match four classic Kool-Aid flavors—channeling the TikTok trend of flavor-blending, which has racked up over 26 million videos. Kool-Aid will also be giving away custom dubraes and laces to let fans personalize their kicks even further.
“Kool-Aid has always stood for creativity, bold flavor, and fun,” said Kristina Hannant, Marketing Director for Ready To Drink Beverages at Kraft Heinz. “This collaboration with Nike and Ja Morant celebrates everything our fans love about both brands—self-expression, color, and culture.”
The Nike x Kool-Aid Ja 2 drops in limited quantities May 16 via the SNKRS app and select retailers nationwide. Fans can register on the SNKRS app starting May 2 and visit koolaid.com/mixnkicks to enter giveaways for the flavor pack and sneaker accessories.
