#RHOA: Shamea Morton Mwangi Shifting Friendship Dynamics On ‘RHOA’ And Her Sophomore Season As A Peach Holder
Shamea Morton Mwangi isn’t letting any friendships hold her back in her sophomore season as a peach holder in The Real Housewives of Atlanta on Bravo.

Last season, the self-proclaimed female Jamie Foxx and Atlanta’s best friend found herself struggling to make sense of the fallout between her and her longtime BFF, Porsha Williams. After starting out as a fan favorite, viewers questioned whether her allegiance to keeping a seemingly non-reciprocal friendship was more important to her than setting boundaries and standing on her own. This season, she says she’s doing the latter, and she doesn’t care whose feathers she ruffles.

The radio host has been a staple on the show for over a decade, but now viewers get to see more of who she is. With new friendships, new business ventures, and an ever-busy family life, Morton Mwangi believes viewers will love what they see. Ahead of the season premiere, Blavity’s Shadow and Act spoke with the multi-talented wife and mother of two about all to come this season.

So you started off Season 16 as a viewer fave and, with public criticism regarding how they feel you handled your fallout with Porsha, things seemingly changed. What is your response to some who felt like you cared more about holding on to Porsha’s validation than stepping into your own star power?

I’m OK with that, to be honest. I always pride myself on just being a good person and being a good friend. And I’m not working on anyone else’s clock or timetable. I think that we all process things differently. And that was a childhood friend of mine. So you don’t get over that kind of stuff overnight. But now, I’m in a great space, and I’m happy, and I know that you’re gonna really enjoy this next season because I’ve made some amazing friends. I’m super excited about the new cast members. So I think we really have an amazing group, including Porsha. I think all of us bring something amazing to this cast.

Coming off the reunion last year and heading into filming, what were your hopes for this new season?

Just to live in my truth and just be who I am unapologetically. Cynthia said some really wise information to me at the reunion to just stop sweeping things under the rug, and if you don’t like something, let it be known, and if they like it, they don’t, whatever, at least you would have just been forthcoming and outright, just honest with your feelings. And I’ve done a great job of that this season, and honestly, it probably ruffled a few feathers, but I have zero regrets. And that’s all that matters, honestly, just living your life without any regrets.

And what I love in the trailer is that we see you wanting to step into your entrepreneurial era and you now have a rum company. So talk to me about how that came to be.

Yes, so I launched my rum company based off of a Grenadian rum from a company named Clark’s Court that I tried when I was there last season for Season 16. That’s where Kelli and I hosted our cast trip and I enjoyed it. The people were so kind, the food was great, but the rum was amazing. And I’m not even really a rum drinker. I’m a rosé, champagne, and tequila drinker. But that rum was so good, and it’s like good for your libido, too. So you don’t need Viagra when you have rum from Grenada. So I really was like, ‘I can bring this back to the States.’ Why not? My husband was like, ‘Are you sure? Like, what are you doing?’ And I was like, ‘OK, now I got to prove him wrong. Now I have to prove to him that I can do it.’ And it’s working out. It’s coming together. It’s a little slow, but it is really amazing. I can’t wait for you to try it.

Speaking of your husband, I know that you previously said that he was a little reluctant to be on the show, hence why you didn’t join as a full-time cast member for some time, and he also didn’t attend the reunion last season. Has he come around more and will we see him more in this season?

Yeah, you’ll get to see my husband, Gerald, a lot, but I do appreciate them being able to stay focused on me as a housewife. It’s called The Real Housewives, not The Real House Husbands. And I’m just blessed to be able to have a husband that is supportive of me in this chapter of my life. He supports me in many ways, but he’s like, ‘I’m not for the camera, that’s never been my passion.’ And I support that and I respect that. And I do appreciate him just stepping in and really just begrudgingly coming on these cameras…I’m not forcing anything. If he says he’s coming, great. If he can’t make it, alright, fine. You’ll see that right off the gate, first episode. It’s like, ‘OK, well, here I am by myself at the party. Here we go.’

You’re also close with Kelli this season, and I know she’s seemingly at odds with Porsha. So, how do you go about navigating shifts in relationships this season overall?

You know, in the past I would walk on eggshells like, ‘Oh man, this person don’t like this person. I can’t hang out, I can’t see them.’ But I’m my own person, right? I am a grown woman. I can like and love whoever I want. And I did a great job doing that when Kandi and Porsha were at odds. I was like, ‘I love y’all both.’ And I’m gonna continue to do that now that Kelli and Porsha are in a weird space. I’m cool. That ain’t my business. I’m gonna stay out of it. I’m gonna mind my business.

And in the premiere episode, you and Drew kind of get into a little tizzy, if you will. You came in pretty hot. Where does the ongoing annoyance with Drew stem from?

I don’t know, it’s an awkward space. But Drew is just being Drew. My little nickname for her is Drewnocchio with all them lies. But I just wanted her to really focus on her Zoom call and not me. That’s really what I wanted for her. But the focus came over here. So, it was like, ‘OK, girl, what do you want? Do you really want to see my husband that bad?’ It was a little weird.

And you mentioned just loving the cast. So how would you rate the newbies coming on to?

I think we have a great cast. Of course, we got Pinky Cole from Slutty Vegan. Pinky is a walking TED Talk. She’s always got a business idea, and they’re actually really good ideas that she has, and then of course, K. Michelle, amazing country singer AKA Pudding, doing her thing. She is a firecracker, a ball of fun and a ball of energy, and I love her down. We have a great team. I honestly feel like every person at home on their couch watching this season can find someone that resonates with them, that they’ll have something in common with, that they’re like, ‘Oh, I’m team this person or team that person.’ I enjoy it. I enjoy Angela and Charles. They are a fun, dynamic duo.

Speaking of being team people, this last one is a two-parter. I know that you’ve had past issues with Phaedra. So tell me where things stand with you guys this season, and then if you had to summarize this season for you in a quote or a sentence or just a word, what would it be?

I really like Phaedra. She adds a lot to the show. She’s been around for a very long time. And she’s a boss. She has many jobs. She’s a great mom. She has two beautiful sons who I actually adore now. Her sons, now anytime I see them, I’m running to hug their neck. So, I would have loved to have gotten a lot closer with her this past season, but who knows, maybe in my junior season of Housewives of Atlanta. But I like Phaedra.

And then just leave us with a sentence or a quote of what this season of Real Housewives represents for Shamea.
My favorite song right now is I ran it through the trigger. Season 17, I’m gonna let them know.

#HipHopNews: Kanye West Claims Nobody Can Beat Him In A Verzuz Battle
Kanye West has weighed in on the age-old debate over who (if anybody) could beat him in a Verzuz battle — and his answer is the most Kanye answer ever.
The Chicago rap icon made a surprise appearance at Deon Cole’s comedy show at Hollywood Improv on Tuesday (April 7), where he hung out on stage and loosely interacted with Cole and fellow comedian Ocean Glapion throughout the night.

When asked if by Glapion if there is any artist out there that he views as a worthy Verzuz oopponent, Ye shook his head and replied: “Nobody” before flashing his signature smirk.
Backing up his argument, Yeezy then pointed out that despite running through dozens of hits during his recent sold-out shows at Inglewood’s SoFi Stadium, there were still several huge songs that he didn’t perform including “Gold Digger” and “Touch the Sky.”

While on stage, Ye also briefly spoke about the upcoming deluxe edition of Bully, revealing it is still in the process of being finished.
He also (jokingly) agreed to let Deon Cole record an interlude for the project, à la DeRay Davis’ (who also popped up at Cole’s show) comedic skits on The College Dropout and Late Registration.

The prospect of Kanye West participating in a Verzuz battle has fueled fan debates for years, with fellow heavyweights such as Drake, Lil Wayne, Eminem, Kendrick Lamar, 50 Cent and Future floated as potential opponents.
Swizz Beatz revealed in 2021 that Ye was actually “ready” to face off against Drizzy in the popular soundclash series that he co-founded with Timbaland, but it never materialized due to their ongoing feud at the time.

However, many believe that the only catalog that could stand toe-to-toe with Yeezy’s belongs to his former mentor, labelmate and collaborator JAY-Z.
During a recent episode of his eponymous podcast, Joe Budden and his co-hosts debated who would win between the Watch the Throne duo, with all of them agreeing that it would make for a tantalizing showdown.

Antwan “Ish” Marby ultimately backed Yeezy to take the W, saying: “I still think Hov is the greatest rapper ever, but when you getting up there with 20 bangers, hits… yes, Kanye can get him out of there.”
Brian “B.Dot” Miller, however, was adamant that Hov would edge it, saying: “If we’re talking about lead songs, I don’t think that JAY-Z loses to Kanye West.”

“I don’t either,” Budden concurred.

Hollywood stars & 1,000+ pros warn Paramount-WBD merger reduces competition, threatens jobs & creativityad

An influential group of Hollywood figures, led by Kristen Stewart, Ben Stiller, and Lin-Manuel Miranda, has voiced strong opposition to the proposed acquisition of Warner Bros. Discovery by Paramount. Over 1,000 industry professionals have signed an open letter expressing their concerns about the potential merger.

The letter argues that this deal would "further consolidate an already concentrated media landscape," reducing competition at a critical time for the entertainment industry and its audiences. It highlights that the merger would shrink the number of major Hollywood studios from five to four, which could result in fewer jobs, diminished creative opportunities, and a narrower range of choices for viewers, while also potentially driving up costs.

Kristen Stewart and others emphasize that the film and television sectors are already struggling due to previous waves of consolidation. The letter states, "Our industry is already under severe strain, in large part due to prior waves of consolidation. We have witnessed a steep decline in the number of films produced and released, alongside a narrowing of the kinds of stories that are financed and distributed." This trend has allowed a limited number of powerful companies to control what projects get made and on what terms, restricting opportunities for creators and independent businesses.

The letter’s signatories include a wide array of well-known actors such as Bryan Cranston, Mark Ruffalo, Don Cheadle, Glenn Close, Joaquin Phoenix, Jane Fonda, Javier Bardem, Lily Gladstone, Patti LuPone, Noah Wyle, Rose Byrne, Ted Danson, Mary Steenburgen, Tiffany Haddish, Marisa Tomei, Jason Bateman, Heather Graham, Ilana Glazer, Abbi Jacobson, Rosario Dawson, Elliot Page, and Alyssa Milano. In addition, prominent directors and writers like David Fincher, Denis Villeneuve, Adam McKay, J.J. Abrams, Daniel Kwan, David Chase, Yorgos Lanthimos, and Boots Riley have also endorsed the letter.

Britney Spears Checks Into Rehab for Substance Abuse Follwing DUI Arrest
Britney Spears is stepping away from the spotlight to focus on her health.
According to TMZ, the pop icon has voluntarily entered a rehabilitation program after a recent DUI incident in Ventura County, California, a move that people close to her say reflects a growing desire to reset and take control of her well-being.

Spears was cited and released the night of the arrest and is expected to appear in court in early May. In the weeks since, those around her say she’s been more reflective about her lifestyle and the direction she wants to go moving forward.
"She realizes she hit rock bottom," one source told TMZ.

Before entering treatment, Spears spent time reconnecting with her sons, Sean Preston and Jayden James. She has since traveled out of state to begin a program that will address both mental health and substance-related challenges, though details about the facility have been kept private.

For longtime observers, the decision adds another chapter to a deeply public and often complicated journey. Spears has spoken candidly in recent years about the toll of fame, her mental health struggles, and the experience of living under a conservatorship for more than a decade.

In her memoir The Woman in Me, she detailed past experiences with medication, career pressure, and moments where she felt a loss of control over her own life. Those reflections, combined with her 2021 court testimony, helped reshape public understanding of her story.
For Spears, entering rehab appears to be a proactive step, one that signals a willingness to address those issues head-on as she works toward stability and recovery. While the legal process tied to her recent arrest is still ongoing, the focus for now seems to be on her health and what comes next.

Diddy’s Lawyers Argue Freak-Offs Were Protected Amateur Porn In Appeal
Sean Combs, known as Diddy, is currently appealing his prison sentence by arguing that his so-called freak-offs were simply amateur pornography protected under the First Amendment.

On April 9, the United States Court of Appeals reviewed a motion filed by Sean Combs’s legal team seeking his release. According to TMZ, his attorneys maintained that the freak-offs did not violate any laws. They described these events as highly choreographed sexual performances featuring costumes, role play, and staged lighting, all recorded for Sean Combs and his girlfriends to watch later as amateur pornographic material.

The defense emphasized that the production and viewing of such content fall within constitutional protections and therefore cannot be legally prosecuted. This argument challenges the convictions Sean Combs received last July, where he was found guilty on two counts of violating the Mann Act, related to transporting individuals for prostitution purposes.

His lawyers also brought up Cassie’s drug use during the hearing, a topic that was barred from being introduced during the original trial. They argue that Sean Combs was given an excessively harsh sentence; while the typical punishment for these charges is around 15 months, he has already served 19 months behind bars.

Originally, Sean Combs was set to be released on June 4, 2028. However, after receiving 40 days off his sentence in March, his current projected release date is April 25, 2028. The timing for a ruling on this appeal remains uncertain.
XXL has reached out to Sean Combs’s representatives for comment regarding the ongoing appeal and legal arguments presented.

Floyd Mayweather Sued Over Alleged $105,000 Unpaid Private Jet Bill
Floyd Mayweather is facing fresh legal trouble, this time tied to an alleged unpaid private jet arrangement.
According to a complaint filed in Los Angeles County, Jet Set Aircraft Inc. is seeking more than $105,000 from Mayweather and several co-defendants over services connected to a 2025 charter. The lawsuit names Mayweather, his company TBE Aviation, and others, alleging they failed to cover costs after requesting and using private aviation services.

The filing outlines a series of claims, including breach of contract, unjust enrichment, and fraud, and argues that the defendants accepted the services but failed to fulfill their payment obligations. The company says it provided a range of aviation-related support, such as pilots, fuel, maintenance, and flight coordination, at the defendants’ request.

Court documents state the total amount owed is at least $105,690.01, with the plaintiff seeking repayment, interest, and additional damages. The complaint also alleges that promises were made to ensure payment would be handled, but those assurances were not honored.

An itemized invoice included in the filing details various charges tied to the trip, including flight planning, fuel, crew services, and maintenance-related expenses, which together make up the disputed balance.
The lawsuit further claims that those involved were aware of concerns about payment practices, alleging that services were accepted with the expectation of compensation, only for payment to ultimately not be made.

This latest case adds to a growing list of legal and financial disputes involving the boxing icon in recent months.
Despite earning hundreds of millions over the course of his career, Mayweather has been hit with multiple claims tied to unpaid bills and financial disagreements. As of now, neither Mayweather nor his representatives has publicly responded to the latest lawsuit.

Mariah Carey Lists Legendary 'MTV Cribs' Tribeca Penthouse for $27M

Mariah Carey is parting ways with one of the most recognizable celebrity homes in New York City.
According to The New York Times, the Grammy-winning singer has listed her longtime Tribeca penthouse for $27 million, nearly three decades after buying the property and turning it into the backdrop for one of MTV Cribs' most unforgettable episodes.

Carey purchased the top three floors of the 18-story Franklin Tower condominium in 1999 for $9 million. She later combined the spaces into a sprawling 12,728-square-foot triplex with eight bedrooms, six full bathrooms, and three half-bathrooms.

The home also includes a 1,100-square-foot rooftop terrace with panoramic views of the Hudson River, the Empire State Building, and the Manhattan skyline.
The penthouse became part of pop culture history in 2002 when Carey opened its doors to MTV Cribs. The episode, which featured six outfit changes and a tour through nearly every room she described as her “favorite,” remains one of the show's most replayed installments. It helped cement both the apartment and Carey herself as symbols of early-2000s celebrity excess.

The residence was designed by legendary interior decorator Mario Buatta, widely known as the “Prince of Chintz.” Buatta filled the apartment with Art Deco-inspired details, soft neutral tones, and one recurring theme: butterflies. The motif referenced Carey's 1997 album Butterfly and appeared throughout the home, from cabinet handles to bed hangings.
“We put them wherever we could,” Buatta told Architectural Digest at the time. “There are butterfly handles on the cabinets in the bedroom, and butterflies are woven into the bed hangings.” He added that the insects even appeared on the bathroom soap and kitchen tiles.

Some of the home's most memorable spaces remain intact. The 38-foot-long primary bathroom includes a lounge area, a crystal chandelier, a television, and a jetted bathtub.
Elsewhere, a theater room once known as the “Mermaid Room” features an aquarium and underwater-inspired design. The rooftop terrace, meanwhile, now has a more understated look, though a metallic butterfly tray remains in a Moroccan-style seating area.

Carey explained during her Cribs tour that she preferred the apartment's softer palette because “I have enough jarring things that happen to me on a daily basis. We don't need that at home.”
The property was also her first New York apartment after her split from former husband and music executive Tommy Mottola.
The listing arrives as public records show Carey has borrowed heavily against the property over the years, with Realtor.com reporting roughly $18.6 million in debt tied to the penthouse.

Representatives for Carey and the brokers handling the listing declined to comment.

Katy Perry Blasts Ruby Rose‘s Claims She Sexually Assaulted Her: 'Dangerous Lies’
Katy Perry has denied Ruby Rose’s claims that she sexually assaulted the Orange Is the New Black actor.
“The allegations being circulated on social media by Ruby Rose about Katy Perry are not only categorically false, they are dangerous reckless lies,” a rep for the 13-time Grammy nominee told Variety in a statement on Monday (April 13). “Ms. Rose has a well-documented history of making serious public allegations on social media against various individuals, claims that have repeatedly been denied by those named.”

Rose previously took to Threads to accuse Perry of assaulting her at an Austraialian nightclub when she was in her early twenties.
“Katy Perry sexual assaulted me at spice market nightclub in Melbourne,” Rose wrote under a post from Complex Music’s Threads account. “Who gives a shit what she thinks.”

Rose then elaborated on the alleged incident, claiming that Perry “pulled her underwear to the side and rubbed her disgusting vagina on my face until my eyes snapped open and I projectile vomited on her.”
Rose, who also starred in The CW’s Batwoman series, later claimed that she spoke with police after going public with the allegation.

“I said names inside the station that hold much more power than me and frankly, freak me out,” Rose wrote, again on Threads. “I feel very relieved so far but have no expectations. I do however want to assure people that I am in no way suicidal, if you know what I mean. Nor do I take drugs, or have any health conditions.”

Ben & Jerry’s Calls Out Black Maternal Health Crisis, Says Black Mothers Behind Bars Deserve Better
Ben & Jerry’s is using its platform to push a serious conversation around Black maternal health and reproductive justice.
The ice cream brand shared a viral Instagram carousel during Black Maternal Health Week, opening with the bold statement, “The US Is Failing Black Mothers.” The campaign specifically centers on incarcerated Black mothers, arguing that reproductive justice cannot exist without support for Black women who are behind bars.

Across the slides, the brand highlights several alarming claims, including that Black women are nearly twice as likely to be incarcerated as white women and three times more likely to die from pregnancy-related causes. The carousel also states that nearly half of pregnant women who are incarcerated receive zero prenatal care, while some women are still allegedly shackled during pregnancy and childbirth.

Another striking slide says most incarcerated mothers are separated from their newborns within hours of giving birth, with some mothers sent back to their cells within 24 to 72 hours after delivery, cutting off bonding, breastfeeding, and recovery time.

Ben & Jerry’s also used the post to spotlight its partner, National Bail Out, saying the organization has reunited more than 1,000 Black mothers and caregivers with their loved ones since 2017, while also helping provide housing, healthcare, and support services.
The post quickly drew attention online, blending brand activism with hard-hitting social justice messaging and reigniting wider conversations around whether major consumer brands should use their platforms to address issues like incarceration, maternal mortality, and reproductive rights.

First Black Man To Orbit The Moon, Astronaut Victor Glover, Reunites With Wife & 4 Daughters After Historic Artemis II Mission

NASA astronaut Victor Glover is officially back on Earth — and the first thing he did was run straight to his family. The Artemis II pilot took to X on Sunday, April 12, posting a beaming family photo with the caption: “Home, again! Mission complete. I hope we glorified God, humanity, our families and our terrific teams at @NASA and @csa_asc. Time to share the good news!” The post crossed 1 million views within hours.

Glover made history on April 6 when he and his Artemis II crewmates — Commander Reid Wiseman, Mission Specialist Christina Koch, and Canadian astronaut Jeremy Hansen — traveled 252,756 miles from Earth, shattering the distance record Apollo 13 had held for over 50 years. The 10-day mission marked the first crewed lunar trip since 1972, and Glover was at the controls for all of it.

In the reunion photo, Glover showed up exactly as he left — in his full blue NASA flight suit and Artemis II cap — surrounded by his wife Dionna and their four daughters, all of them grinning from ear to ear. The image quickly went viral, and honestly, it’s not hard to see why.

This isn’t the first time Glover has etched his name in the history books. In 2020, he became the first Black astronaut to complete a long-duration stay on the International Space Station, spending 168 days in orbit and completing four spacewalks. He has now claimed two historic firsts — and done it all while keeping faith and family at the center.
Before the Artemis II launch, Glover made headlines for saying he hopes achievements like his eventually become “human history” — not Black firsts, not racial milestones, just history. But until that day comes, the significance of what he’s accomplished isn’t lost on the millions watching.

US Rep Eric Swalwell Drops Out of California Governor's Race After Sexual Assault Allegations
Eric Swalwell has officially withdrawn himself from the race for Governor of California.
The 45-year-old state representative was recently accused by a former female staffer of sexually assaulting her on multiple occasions.
After speaking out in a video in regards to the allegations, where he called them “absolutely false,” Eric has now dropped out of the Governor’s race, in which he was running to take over after Gavin Newsom‘s term has come to an end.

“I am suspending my campaign for Governor,” Eric shared on Twitter/X. “To my family, staff, friends, and supporters, I am deeply sorry for mistakes in judgment I’ve made in my past.”
“I will fight the serious, false allegations that have been made — but that’s my fight, not a campaign’s,” he added.
Eric‘s withdrawal from the campaign comes after many politicians called for him to drop out amid the allegations.

“A lot has been said about me today through anonymous allegations and I thought it was important that you see and hear from me directly. These allegations of sexual assault are flat out false,” he said in his video posted on Saturday (April 11). “They are absolutely false. They did not happen. They have never happened. And I will fight them with everything that I have.”

If you didn’t know, Eric, a Democratic politician, has served as a US representative for the 15th district in California from 2013 to 2023, before serving the 14th district since 2023.

Miami Lifestyle Influencer Ashlee Jenae Found Dead in Tanzania Days After Her 31st Birthday and Engagement

Ashlee Jenae flew to Tanzania to celebrate her 31st birthday and came home in a casket. Her loved ones want to know why.
The Miami-based lifestyle influencer and self-described "soft life divestor" traveled to Tanzania with her fiancé, Joe McCann, founder of the cryptocurrency investment firm Asymmetric Financial. On April 5, McCann proposed on what was also Jenae's 31st birthday. She posted photos from the trip on Instagram — beaming, newly engaged, celebrating. Seven days later, she was dead. According to Yahoo Entertainment, Tanzanian authorities reported McCann told them Jenae had died by hanging herself in the hotel room at the Serval Wildlife Resort. No official cause of death has been confirmed by law enforcement.

PR executive Savannah Britt, who describes herself as a close friend of Jenae's, was among the first to sound the alarm publicly. "We need justice for my friend Ashlee Jenae who was found dead in her hotel in Tanzania and her fiance Joe McCann claims she hung herself," Britt posted on X. "Anyone who knows Ash knows she would NEVER commit suicide. We need answers now!"

The post went viral, drawing attention to several details her supporters found troubling: the timing of the death just days after a joyful engagement, McCann continuing to post on X without publicly mourning her, deleted Instagram posts, and old screenshots surfacing showing Jenae had previously received anonymous online warnings urging her to "be careful" about her relationship.

As of April 12, Tanzanian authorities are handling the investigation. Reports conflict on whether McCann has been arrested or detained. No autopsy or toxicology results have been made public. U.S. authorities have not issued any statement, per EURweb.
Jenae had over 70,000 Instagram followers and built her platform around travel content, fashion, and luxury lifestyle. Her last post, dated April 5, showed her celebrating her birthday and announcing her engagement. She had not posted since.

Her family has asked McCann to "be truthful" about the circumstances surrounding her death. No charges have been filed.
