John Amos’ Publicist Explains Why Actor Wanted A Delayed Death Announcement To Family Members As His Final Wish

The news of John Amos‘ passing was announced earlier this week, shocking many many fans, colleagues, and even his own family members. In the midst of honoring the actor’s life and successful career, the people who were close to him are also speaking about the circumstances that surrounded his death.
The late actor’s “collective family and close friends,” including his daughter Shannon Amos and goddaughter Amy Goudy, issued a statement on Facebook on Oct. 2 that cast an air of doubt about the details of his passing. The statement called out his son Kelly Christopher “K.C.” Amos for his alleged treatment of his father during his final days, and revealed Shannon and others had to learn about his passing on social media 45 days afterward.

Belinda Foster, John’s longtime publicist, who was also named in Goudy’s statement, issued a detailed statement shared with PEOPLE on Oct. 3 that told a different perspective about how things played out. She claims her client’s final wish was to delay the announcement of his passing because he did not want Shannon to “turn his death and interment into a circus,” among other reasons.

“I represented John Amos for over 30 years as his publicist of record,” Foster said. “The media knows this along with John’s agencies of record. Over the years we grew close to one another to the point of a familial relationship. In the last few years, he often referred to me as his ‘daughter.’ This was not a fraud by John, K.C., or myself. He was like a father to me. I deeply mourn his passing.”

“Shannon’s claims that John was abused are false,” Foster continued. “K.C., Eugene and I, along with numerous others cared for him. On several occasions when Shannon claimed that he was abused, law enforcement authorities sat with John and confirmed his well being.”
Goudy’s statement also alleged that K.C., Eugene Brummet, and Foster “isolated the actor from his loved ones despite their repeated attempts to maintain contact.” However, in Foster’s statement, she explains that there was a legal reason why K.C. did not reach out.

“At the time of John’s passing, K.C. was under a strict no-contact order from the Superior Court of New Jersey based on the Complaint that his sister Shannon brought against him in 2023,” she said. “As a condition of his Pretrial Release, K.C. is precluded from making any contact with Shannon directly or indirectly by phone, social media, or any method of communication,”
Foster also said it was the Good Times actor who requested a delayed death announcement to his family members as one of his final wishes. He did so to alleviate the “circus” Shannon might turn the death news into, as she has done in the past with other events, according to the statement.

“At the time of his death, John was concerned that Shannon might turn his death and interment into a circus as she had done with other aspects of his life… It was John who requested the delay in announcing his death to Shannon and the rest of the world,” Foster added.
Foster concluded, “For the sake of preserving John’s well-earned reputation as a superb actor and a community activist, we hope we can put to rest these nonsensical claims that Shannon is offering out of her own pain as a result of estrangement from her father.”

Jennifer Hudson And Common Have Cute Marriage Conversation On Her Talk Show
Jennifer Hudson and Common had the cutest moment on a recent episode of her self-titled daytime talk show. The prolific MC was confronted by his beau about a marriage remark he made in a prior interview in July.
At that time, Common told The Breakfast Club that if he was going to tie the knot with anyone, it would be his “dream girl,” Jennifer. “I mean, if I’m gonna get married it’s to her. That’s as simple as that,” he said.

Hudson referred to that interview on her show, saying, “I heard you’ve been even out there talking about marriage. What’s that about?” In response, “The Light” wordsmith said, “I was asked about marriage and I just answered honestly. You told me a quote that your mother said, ‘A man knows what he wants.’ And I was saying my true feelings… ‘Listen, Jennifer is the person. If I should be married, it will be to Jennifer Kate Hudson.’”

Adding to his very noble remark, Hudson agreed that her late mother, Darnell Donerson, would’ve loved him.
“My mother was right. I think if she had met you, [she’d say] ‘I don’t know about the rest of them, but that Common is alright with me,’” she expressed. “That’s what she would say. And I would agree. I think it’s a beautiful thing. I think you are a deserving man and, you know, I support that idea. I think it’s a beautiful idea. I will say that.”

Alluding that there isn’t a set timeframe for a wedding, she added, “Now, hold on, in due time. You know, if it ever gets to that place.”
The pair confirmed their romance back in January on The Jennifer Hudson Show following looming rumors of dating. Without naming anyone, Common shared at the time, “I’m in a relationship that is with one of the most beautiful people I’ve met in life. She’s smart. She loves God. She has something real down-to-earth about her. She’s talented, but I set my standard kind of high because she had to have a EGOT. She had to win an Oscar on her first movie… she had to get her own talk show.”

He added, “This relationship is a happy place for me. It’s like for me, it’s one of those things where I found where seeing her happy actually makes me really happy. I’m very grateful. I thank God each and every day.”

Oh, Adam! I had the surgery. It’s gone now. He paid for it with that ‘Saw’ money. Remember he was on ‘Saw?’ They killed his a** right on the spot.

They killed him right on the spot, but he got that ‘Saw’ money! Deada**! He got that ‘Saw’ money, and guess where that ‘Saw’ money went? That ‘Saw’ money went to my SRS surgery… and the a**.
The average cost of SRS (bottom) surgery ranges between $6,400 and $25,000, as it encompasses a vast number of procedures varying in complexity.

‘Atlanta’s Top Veneer Specialist’ Denied Bond Amid Claims of Practicing Dentistry Without a License
A magistrate judge in Fulton County refused to grant bail to Brandon Dillard who was accused of illegally doing dental procedures without a license.
Brandon Dillard attended his initial court appearance remotely from the Fulton County Jail. Judge Holly Hughes expressed her concerns to Dillard, indicating that she felt he posed a risk of resuming his unauthorized procedures if granted release on bail.
“I do believe he poses a risk. And the risk isn’t necessarily he’s out there with a gun shooting people. Risk is also when you are practicing medicine or dentistry without the proper licenses. Things can go horribly wrong,” Hughes said.

Brandon Dillard who refers to himself as Atlanta’s top veneer specialist is being accused of practicing dentistry and medicine for years without a license.
According to a report by wsbtv.com, Fulton County District Attorney, Will Wooten is claiming that “Brandon Dillard is not a dentist. He’s never been a dentist. And as much as he may want to play one on Instagram, he is not one.” According to the report, on Thursday, law enforcement officials, including investigators from the district attorney’s office, conducted a raid on the Northeast Atlanta location of “A List Smiles Atlanta.”

With a following of 157,000 on Instagram, the company has been in business since 2021. However, arrest warrants for Dillard reveal that he lacks a dental license and has been unlawfully conducting veneer treatments. In Georgia, veneer procedures can only be legally conducted by licensed dentists. Despite this, “A List Smiles” showcases the smiles of what they claim are happy clients on their social media platforms, along with promotions such as raffle contests for their $5,500 veneer services.

“If you went to this and you thought it was a dental office and you looked at the equipment, it appears to be legitimate. But that’s what the best fraudsters do, is they do everything they can to make themselves look legitimate. And in this case, this is an illegitimate operation. The problem is the consequences are to one’s health,” Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis said.

Dillard faces eight felony charges, which include practicing dentistry and medicine without the necessary licenses, as well as engaging in theft by deception.
“It does look reputable. It does look professional. And that’s part of the scam,” Wooten said.
Dillard reportedly conducted training sessions for individuals nationwide on veneer procedures, charging upwards of $6,000 to become a “Veneer Specialist.” However, the district attorney’s office has stated that, under Georgia law, there is no official designation for a Veneer Specialist or Veneer Technician.

“Many, many people paid this defendant to receive training on how to do this illegal conduct. I am not interested in prosecuting those persons. I am interested in them stopping this work and finding out who they are because they are also victims,” Willis said.

Garth Brooks responds to sexual assault allegations by former makeup artist: 'I do not fear the truth'

Garth Brooks has been accused of rape, sexual assault and sexual abuse in a lawsuit filed Oct. 3 by a hairstylist/makeup artist who worked for him.
The country music star, 62, responded to the allegations filed by plaintiff “Jane Roe” in a statement to Yahoo Entertainment, saying that he’s “not the man they have painted me to be.”

In September, Brooks anonymously filed a lawsuit against the accuser, alleging attempted extortion and defamation.
Hours after Roe’s lawsuit was filed on Thursday, Brooks took the stage in Las Vegas and referenced his personal troubles in a social media post.

What just happened?
On Oct. 3, the former employee filed a lawsuit against him in the California Supreme Court in Los Angeles County. In the complaint, Roe, who said she began working with Brooks in 2017, alleged he raped her, groped her, made unwanted sexual remarks, undressed in her presence and sent her sexually explicit text messages throughout 2019.
Roe — who first worked with Brooks’s wife, Trisha Yearwood, beginning in 1999 — claimed Brooks made repeated remarks about having “threesomes” with her and Yearwood. She alleged Yearwood overheard the explicit comment “on at least one occasion.” Roe said she stopped working for Brooks and moved to Mississippi around May 2021.

Brooks denied Roe’s allegations in a statement.
“For the last two months, I have been hassled to no end with threats, lies, and tragic tales of what my future would be if I did not write a check for many millions of dollars,” Brooks said. “It has been like having a loaded gun waved in my face. Hush money, no matter how much or how little, is still hush money. In my mind, that means I am admitting to behavior I am incapable of — ugly acts no human should ever do to another.”
It continued, “We filed suit against this person nearly a month ago to speak out against extortion and defamation of character. We filed it anonymously for the sake of families on both sides.”
The statement concluded, “I trust the system, I do not fear the truth, and I am not the man they have painted me to be.”

Roe’s allegations against Brooks
The makeup and hair professional said that in 2019, Brooks found out she was experiencing “financial difficulties" and hired her more regularly, according to her complaint.

That year, Roe was prepared to do his hair and makeup when Brooks came from the shower “naked, with an erection” and placed her hands on his genitals, according to her lawsuit. She said she refused his request to “perform oral sex on him.”
In May 2019, Roe traveled with Brooks to Los Angeles for a taping of a Grammys tribute to Sam Moore. She said she was surprised when they were the only two passengers on Brooks’s private plane because usually more members of his team were present. At their hotel, she said Brooks “booked a hotel suite with one bedroom” and “she did not have a separate room.” She claimed that is where she was raped, feeling “trapped” and unable to “escape his physical domination.”

Roe claimed that after the alleged sexual assault, Brooks “increased the frequency of saying his sexual fantasies about her aloud” and groped her breasts when she was working on his hair and makeup. She said he also sent her sexually explicit texts and later took her phone and deleted messages he sent her.

She claimed Brooks attempted to rape her in October 2019 but had to leave for another engagement.
“We applaud our client’s courage in moving forward with her complaint against Garth Brooks,” Roe’s attorneys, Douglas Wigdor and Hayley Baker, told ABC News in a statement. They said the lawsuit “demonstrates that sexual predators exist not only in corporate America, Hollywood and in the rap and rock and roll industries but also in the world of country music.”

It continued, “We are confident that Brooks will be held accountable for his actions and his efforts to silence our client through the filing of a preemptive complaint in Mississippi was nothing other than an act of desperation and attempted intimidation. We encourage others who may have been victimized to contact us as no survivor should suffer in silence.”

Brooks sued Roe to block her lawsuit
In Roe’s lawsuit, it’s noted that Brooks filed a lawsuit — using the pseudonym John Doe — against her (as Jane Roe) on Sept. 13 in the Southern District of Mississippi Northern Division Court.

In the complaint, obtained by Yahoo Entertainment, Brooks’s legal team said the lawsuit was being filed to “obtain relief from Defendant’s ongoing attempted extortion, defamation, false light invasion of privacy, and intentional infliction of emotional distress through outrageous conduct including the publication and threatened wider publication of false allegations of sexual misconduct that would irreparably harm [Brooks’s] reputation, family, career and livelihood.”

Brooks, who asked for a jury trial, said in his lawsuit that Roe’s “allegations are not true.”
He said he hired her “out of loyalty, friendship, and a desire to improve” her personal situation, but her demands for “financial assistance” only increased, according to his complaint. He said when he denied her a salaried position with medical benefits, “she responded with false and outrageous allegations of sexual misconduct.”

Brooks’s lawsuit states he first heard of Roe’s sexual assault allegations — “none of which has any basis in fact” — in a July 17 letter her lawyers sent threatening a lawsuit. Brooks’s attorneys received a follow-up letter on Aug. 23 saying Roe would “refrain from publicly filing her false and defamatory lawsuit against” him “in exchange for a multi-million dollar payment.”
Brooks, who seeks compensatory and punitive damages, says Roe knows her “false allegations” will cause “substantial, irreparable damage” to his “well-earned reputation as a decent and caring person, along with the unavoidable damage to his family and the irreparable damage to his career and livelihood.”

Wendy Williams’ Son To Take Over As Legal Guardian?
Wendy Williams’ son Kevin Hunter Jr. might become her legal guardian soon. Her ex-husband, Kevin’s dad, had requested that her guardian be removed from her legal cases. Kevin Jr. may be the one to step in her place. Here is what has been revealed so far.
The famed daytime talk show host was first placed under financial guardianship in May of 2022. Now, Sabrina Morrissey, Wendy’s guardian, has 21 days to prove that she can legally represent her in New Jersey.

Kevin Hunter, Wendy Williams’ ex, has petitioned a New Jersey divorce court, stating that Sabrina is only licensed in New York. He wants her to be removed from the ongoing hearings about Wendy’s finances and the conditions of the divorce.
Sabrina submitted proof to the court late this week that she overnighted paperwork “to register the guardianship in New Jersey.” Kevin does not want her involved though. Pushing the matter, he claims that Sabrina “committed fraud upon the court by falsely representing she is permitted to appear on [Wendy’s] behalf.”

He went on to argue that Sabrina “intentionally and willfully misled this court by asserting on multiple occasions that she is permitted to represent Ms. Wendy Williams Hunter as her legal guardian.”
Now, sources that are close to the court case have revealed to The U.S. Sun that this is a chance for Wendy’s son or another family member to step in and take over.

“There is now a huge opportunity for Kevin Jr. and the family to make a step forward in Wendy’s guardianship,” the source said.
As Kevin Sr. continues to push for Sabrina Morrissey to be put out of the courtroom after she misled the court, it could be the perfect time for someone from Wendy Williams’ family to take action.

As mentioned above, Wendy was placed under guardianship in 2022. The former talk show host’s finances were placed on hold by her bank, Wells Fargo. In the petition for guardianship, the bank said that it had concerns about Wendy. Specifically, the bank believed she was “the victim of undue influence, dementia, and financial exploitation.”
Sabrina Morrissey was then appointed her temporary guardian. At the same time all of this was going on, Wendy Williams was missing from her daytime talk show. In fact, she didn’t appear for a single episode during the beloved show’s final season.
Earlier this year, it was revealed that Wendy was diagnosed with progressive aphasia and frontotemporal dementia. She has disappeared from the public eye, but interest sparked about what she’s been up to following the release of Lifetime’s docuseries Where Is Wendy Williams?

In the docuseries, fans learned about Wendy’s guardianship and how her family has not been granted contact with her for an extended period of time. Now, it seems like the ball might finally be in their court to regain access to their beloved family member.

Donald Glover Needs Surgery Amid Health Struggle, Cancels The Rest Of His Tour

After much anticipation and widespread excitement, Donald Glover, known musically as Childish Gambino, has had to make the difficult decision to cancel the remainder of his New World Tour in North America and Europe due to health issues demanding immediate attention.

The multifaceted performer behind hits like "This Is America" and the creator of the acclaimed series "Atlanta" broke the news through a heartfelt post on X, formerly known as Twitter. "After my show in New Orleans, I went to the hospital in Houston to make sure of an ailment that had become apparent," he wrote. "After being assessed, it became clear I would not perform that night, and after more tests, I could not perform the rest of the US tour in the time asked."

Initially, there were hopes that the tour dates could be postponed, as Glover had indicated earlier in September when he asked fans to "hold onto their tickets." However, as his condition requires surgery and a significant recovery period, all remaining North American and European dates are now canceled.
"As of now I have surgery scheduled and need time out to heal," Glover explained. "My path to recovery is something I need to confront seriously. With that said, we have made the difficult decision to cancel the remainder of the North American tour and the UK and European dates."

Donald Glover calls off all his tour dates
Fans who purchased tickets will receive refunds at the point of purchase. Glover has not disclosed the specific nature of his ailment or the details of his surgery, preferring to keep those matters private. "I want nothing more than to bring this show to the fans and perform," he added. "Until then, thanks for love, privacy, and support."
The New World Tour was heralded as Glover's final project under the Childish Gambino moniker, following his latest album "Bando Stone and the New World," which debuted at No. 16 on the Billboard 200. The tour dates were meant to accompany not only the album but also a forthcoming film of the same name and a re-release of his pandemic-era album, now titled "Atavista."

As of now, there is no information on how this development might impact his scheduled concerts in New Zealand and Australia in January and February 2025. Nonetheless, Glover's fans worldwide are collectively wishing him a speedy recovery and eagerly anticipating his return to the stage whenever he is ready.

‘Joker: Folie à Deux’ Underperforming at Box Office After Receiving D CinemaScore

Joker: Folie à Deux is off to a rough start at the box office.Todd Phillips’ R-rated sequel, starring Joaquin Phoenix as the Joker and Lady Gaga as Harley Quinn, earned a lower-than-expected $20 million on Friday (Oct. 4), including $7 million in previews, according to The Hollywood Reporter. Rival studios project that the Warner Bros. film will open below $50 million.
Contributing to the troubled box office numbers is Joker 2‘s dismal CinemaScore from audiences. The musical film received a failing D grade, marking the first time in history that a Hollywood comic book movie received such a low score, THR reports.

“For a movie running two-and-a-quarter hours, Folie à Deux feels narratively a little thin and at times dull,” The Hollywood Reporter‘s chief film critic David Rooney wrote following the movie’s world premiere at the Venice Film Festival in September.
Heading into the opening weekend, Joker: Folie à Deux — the sequel to 2019’s Oscar-winning Joker — was expected to earn between $50 million and $60 million. The original film debuted significantly higher on its opening weekend, bringing in $96.2 million and receiving a B+ CinemaScore. The first Joker went on to make just over $1 billion at the global box office.

Joker 2 follows Phoenix’s return as Arthur Fleck (aka the Joker), who is now confined in Arkham Asylum. There, he meets Gaga’s Harleen “Lee” Quinzel, and they form a powerfully chaotic bond with the goal of causing mayhem across Gotham City.

In addition to her acting role in the film, Gaga recorded an entire Joker-themed album, titled Harlequin, in which she channels her character on a series of classic covers and a few originals. The surprise companion project, released ahead of Joker 2 on Sept. 27, was recorded alongside the sessions for the superstar’s upcoming as-yet-untitled seventh studio album. Her new set is scheduled for release in February, with a first single dropping in October.

Madonna’s brother, Christopher Ciccone, has died at 63
Christopher Ciccone, a multihyphenate artist, dancer, designer and younger brother of Madonna, has died. He was 63. Ciccone died Friday in Michigan, his representative Brad Taylor told The Associated Press Sunday. He had cancer.
Madonna posted a tribute to him on Instagram Sunday with a carousel of photos from over the years.

“He was the closest human to me for so long,” she wrote. “Its hard to explain our bond. But it grew out of an understanding that we were different and society was going to give us a hard time for not following the status quo. We took each other’s hands and we danced through the madness of our childhood.”

Madonna wrote that discovering dance in their small Midwestern town saved them both, and that their ballet teacher created a safe space for her brother to be gay.
A dancer since his youth, Ciccone was deeply intertwined with his sister’s rise in pop stardom in the 1980s, appearing in music videos like “Lucky Star,” art directing her Blond Ambition World Tour and serving as tour director for The Girlie Show tour. He also directed music videos for Dolly Parton and Tony Bennett.

“When it came to good taste, my brother was the Pope, and you had to kiss the ring to get his blessing,” Madonna wrote. “He was a painter a poet and a visionary. I admired him. He had impeccable taste. And a sharp tongue, Which he sometimes used against me but I always forgave him.
In 2008, Ciccone released a bestselling autobiography called “Life with My Sister Madonna” in which he wrote about their strained relationship, her romantic entanglements as well as recollections from his time on tour with her. For two decades, he was by her side, choreographing, directing, dressing and helping his sister. He also interior designed her homes in New York, Miami and Los Angeles. He said that it was a bit like a marriage at times.

“It was a double-edged sword,” he told Good Morning America in 2008. “Nobody was chaining me down to make — to stay.”
The book, and his no-filter descriptions of the exploits of his sister’s famous circle, took its toll on some of his Hollywood friendships too. Several years later, in 2012, around the launch of a shoe collection he designed, he told The Standard that he and his sister were “on a perfectly personable level” and in contact.

“I don’t work for her, and it’s better this way,” he said.
In recent years Ciccone relocated to Michigan’s Lower Peninsula to be closer to family. In 2016, Ciccone married Ray Thacker, a British actor, who was by his side when he died.
Madonna wrote that when he got sick, they found their way back to one another.
“I’m glad he’s not suffering anymore,” she wrote. “There will never be anyone like him. I know he’s dancing somewhere.”

Madonna also lost her stepmother, Joan Clare Ciccone, to cancer just a few weeks ago, and her older brother Anthony Ciccone in early 2023.

Families of North Carolina Inmates Claim They Were Forced to Defecate in Plastic Bags and Went Without Water During

Last week, inmates at the Mountain View Correctional Institution in Spruce Pine, North Carolina, were awakened to find that their cells were flooding due to Hurricane Helene’s harsh rains across western areas of the state.
For the next five days, more than 500 inmates lived in inhumane prison conditions, without lights, running water, or communication with the outside world. While the impact of Hurricane Helene was intense for most, the incarcerated men’s experience was much worse. In fact, the storm turned the prison into a health hazard. According to the family members of the prisoners, the men were left trapped in their cells with filth and foul odor with no relief. With the power and water being out, the prison’s functioning system was crippled as inmates were forced to defecate in plastic bags that were stored inside their cells.

“My husband told me this morning he’s going to have to see a therapist because of what happened in there,” Bridget Gentry, whose husband is incarcerated at Mountain View, said. “He said, ‘We thought we were going to die there. We didn’t think anybody was going to come back for us.’”

Additionally, the family claims that breakfast for the inmates consisted of four crackers and a cup of juice, while dinner was two pieces of bread and peanut butter. They also stated that portable water wasn’t made available for days.
However, Keith Acree, head of communications at the North Carolina Department of Adult Correction (NCDAC), addressed the situation but downplayed its severity. He confirmed that “some offenders did defecate in plastic bags,” but the plan was created by the inmates. Acree also stated that the prison “did not run out of food or water,” adding that bottled water and buckets were provided.

To make things worse, less than a mile down the road from Mountain View, Avery-Mitchell Correctional Institution experienced a similar situation. Over 800 inmates were hit with flooding and water outages before being evacuated on October 1st.  Nonetheless, the NCDAC maintained that they reacted quickly and highlighted that the surrounding communities were left in worse conditions.

“The populations of the two Spruce Pine prisons are extremely fortunate to now be relocated and safe,” Acree said. “That’s so much more than many others in western NC have right now.”

NFL Hands Over Decision-Making on Tua Tagovailoa’s Comeback to Player and Medical Staff
After recent calls for the NFL to force Tua Tagovailoa to retire, the league has announced it will not be involved in the decision.
In a recent media conference call, Dr. Allen Sills, the NFL’s chief medical officer, clarified that the league will not intervene in the decision-making process regarding Tua Tagovailoa’s return to the Miami Dolphins. He emphasized that it is ultimately Tagovailoa’s responsibility to make choices about his health based on guidance from his consulting doctors, highlighting the importance of patient autonomy in medical decisions.

“Ultimately, when patients make decisions about considering their careers, it has to reflect that autonomy that’s generated from discussions with medical experts giving them the best medical advice,” Sills explained.

Dr. Sills stated that Tagovailoa has been working closely with the Dolphins’ medical staff while also consulting top neurological experts across the country. This is crucial as he navigates the implications of the repeated concussions that have impacted his career and placed him on injured reserve.
