#RHOA: Kim Zolciak’s Massive Debt to Her Attorneys is Revealed Amid Her Messy Divorce From Kroy Biermann, Plus Liens on Her Home
Last year ended on a sour note for Kim Zolciak as it saw her and Kroy Biermann moving out of their long-time Georgia mansion home.
The two Real Housewives of Atlanta stars are still going through their lengthy divorce, and it seems like it may be a while before things improve. Now, Kim’s massive divorce attorney fees have been revealed, and multiple liens have been filed against their former home.

As fans know, the former couple filed for divorce in 2023. They then called it off, but then quickly refiled. Sadly, there has been a ton of drama between the two, including the police being called to the home as well as reports of emotional abuse.
Now, In Touch Weekly is reporting that Kim owes her divorce attorneys a five-figure debt for the long time they’ve been representing her. She is represented by the Snider & Snider PC law firm, and more specifically, Rachel Snider is listed in the filing. The debt has grown so much that they even placed a lien against the seven-bedroom home the couple has now moved out of.

According to the report, Kim owed about $55,143 as of October last year for the work the firm had done in her divorce. Regarding the lien, the firm will be able to collect the owed fees once the bank sells the foreclosed home. However, this isn’t the only lien against the mansion. The same law firm filed a previous one for $77,000, which means the debt decreased before the second filing.

Unfortunately for Kim, there is a third lien against the home. This one is coming from an attorney by the name of David Beaudry, and it’s for $33,000.
Last year, Kroy’s divorce attorney, Ryan Proctor, also filed a motion in which he claimed Kroy owed his firm a total of $79,000 as of October 17.
This all comes after Kim and Kroy have publicly dealt with financial troubles. Back in 2023, it was reported that the IRS had filed a lien on their home due to a tax debt totaling over $1.1 million.

Since then, Kroy has taken on a new job, and Kim recently did The Surreal Life. More recently, multiple cast members of RHOA have expressed interest in seeing her make a comeback to the franchise.

#HipHopNews: Nelly Stands On His Decision To Perform At Donald Trump’s Inauguration
Nelly has received endless backlash from fans after he announced that he will perform at President-elect Donald Trump’s inauguration. He is joined by Snoop Dogg, Rick Ross and Soulja Boy as artists who will have performed at Trump-related events to celebrate his first day in office.

In a Saturday (Jan. 18) interview on the “Willie D Live” podcast, Nelly stated, “I’m not doing this for money. I’m doing this ‘cause it’s an honor. I respect the office. It don’t matter who is in office. The same way that our men and women, our brothers and sisters who protect this country have to go to war and have to put their life on the line for whoever in office. So,if they can put their life on the line for whoever in office, I can d**n sure perform for whoever in office.”

He later mentioned that he would like for people to show him where Trump is a “white supremacist,” before jokingly detailing a few statements and actions put in place by President Biden over the years. He even name-dropped Vice President Kamala Harris while attempting to stand behind his decision of performing at Trump’s second inauguration.

Sheryl Lee Ralph’s secret to a successful marriage? Live apart
Sheryl Lee Ralph is proudly celebrating 19 years of marriage to her husband Vincent Hughes, a member of the Pennsylvania State Senate, and part of the secret to their longevity as a wedded couple might seem a little unorthodox.
In a wide-ranging interview with People earlier this month, the Emmy-winning “Abbott Elementary” star explained how the pair – who met while Ralph was performing in the Broadway musical “Thoroughly Modern Millie” in the early aughts – “live in separate places.”

“He has his own life. I have my own life. He has his own real career, I have my own real career. He has his light to stand in, I have my light to stand in,” Ralph said. “He is not looking at me thinking about status or this or that. He’s doing his thing. I get to do my thing.”
“We also live in separate places,” she added. “When I go to see him, love to see him. When it’s time to leave, ‘Bye-bye. See you soon!’ I’m telling you, life is good. Perfect. I get to be the real good wife!”
Ralph also elaborated on how their arrangement evolved after they met.
“You fall in love with somebody and you realize, he’s not leaving his career. He is not leaving Philadelphia. I’m not leaving Hollywood. And when you have children, you can’t just pick up your children and move across country,” she said, in reference to her two children with her ex-husband Eric Maurice.

“So it just worked out that I was in California, he was in Philadelphia, and every two weeks we saw each other, and it worked out well, and it has continued to work out well,” she added. “We will celebrate 20 years of marriage, thank you, and some people can’t even get through two. So, it’s all good.”

Why Damon Wayans got himself fired from ‘SNL’

In the cutthroat world of comedy, getting fired from “Saturday Night Live” usually spells career disaster. But for Damon Wayans, getting the boot was exactly what he wanted – and the shocking way he made it happen will blow your mind.

Before we dive into the juicy details, let’s rewind to the 1985-86 season. Picture this: A young Wayans, bursting with talent and fresh ideas, lands his dream gig on SNL’s season 11. But what should’ve been a career-making moment turned into a masterclass in standing up for creative freedom.

The warning that changed everything
Before Damon  Wayans even set foot in Studio 8H, comedy legend Eddie Murphy had already dropped some serious truth bombs. Murphy shared crucial advice about writing his own material and avoiding falling into stereotypical roles, which would later prove to be eerily prophetic. It was as if Murphy, like a comedy fortune teller, had a clear vision of what was to come for Wayans. His insight into navigating the comedy world turned out to be spot on, shaping Wayans’ career in unexpected ways.

When dreams meet reality
Here’s where things get really interesting. Despite bringing fresh and innovative ideas to the writers’ room, Wayans found himself constantly hitting wall after wall. The show’s writers, including head writer Al Franken, just weren’t connecting with his vision. When Wayans pitched a character called “The Gifted Rapper,” it felt like he was speaking a completely different language to them. The disconnect between his ideas and the team’s approach became more evident, and the tension only grew as the weeks went on.

The infamous breaking point
Remember that time your boss made you do something you absolutely hated? Well, multiply that by about a thousand. When Wayans got passed over for his own sketch in favor of playing yet another stereotypical role, he decided to go nuclear. In what can only be described as the most expensive career mic drop ever, he deliberately changed his character’s voice during a live broadcast, essentially forcing the show to fire him.

Plot twist: The comeback
But here’s where this story gets even more fascinating. Instead of letting his SNL exit become a cautionary tale of career suicide, Damon Wayans flipped the script and turned it into the ultimate launching pad for his success. He went on to revolutionize television with groundbreaking shows like In Living Color, which reshaped sketch comedy, and My Wife and Kids, a beloved sitcom. His unexpected career shift became a prime example of “failing upward,” showing how setbacks can lead to incredible triumphs.

The most mind-blowing part? The very same person who fired him – the legendary Lorne Michaels – actually invited him back to perform later that same season. If that’s not the definition of boss moves, we don’t know what is.

The bigger picture
Let’s be real for a second: Wayans’ story isn’t just about one comedian’s rebellion. It’s a powerful reminder of the struggles Black comedians faced (and still face) in mainstream entertainment. His decision to choose artistic integrity over job security wasn’t just brave – it was revolutionary.

Fast forward to today, and Damon Wayans is still killing it on CBS’s “Poppa’s House,” proving that sometimes the riskiest career moves are the ones that pay off the most. His journey from SNL outcast to comedy legend shows that sometimes you have to break the rules to break through.
In an industry where playing it safe is the norm, Damon Wayans chose to light a match and burn down the bridge he was standing on. And somehow, through sheer talent and determination, he built an even better one in its place.

#BoxOfficeNews: Keke Palmer And SZA's 'One Of Them Days' Tops MLK Weekend Box Office
Amid a notably weak box office weekend, the Sony release "One of Them Days" emerged victorious, earning $11.6 million from 2,675 theaters. The comedy, starring Keke Palmer and SZA as cash-strapped roommates, edged out Disney's "Mufasa: The Lion King."
With a production budget of just $14 million, "One of Them Days" is projected to recoup its costs by Monday, January 20. The movie marks the first Black female-led theatrical comedy since "Girls Trip" in 2017.
Despite "One of Them Days" success, the overall box office struggled, with the total for Friday, Saturday, and Sunday expected to fall below $80 million, marking one of the worst Martin Luther King Jr. holiday weekends since 1997.

"For an individual film like 'One of Them Days,' this was a great weekend," said Paul Dergarabedian, senior media analyst for Comscore. "You can still find success stories within what is overall a low-grossing weekend for movie theaters."
Disney's "Mufasa" followed closely in second place with $11.5 million while the Blumhouse horror "Wolf Man" debuted in third place with $10.6 million. Amid mixed reviews, the "Wolf Man," starring Christopher Abbott and Julia Garner, is expected to reach $12 million by Monday.

"Sonic the Hedgehog 3" and "Den of Thieves 2: Pantera" rounded out the top five with $8.6 million and $6.6 million, respectively.
The Martin Luther King Jr. holiday weekend has historically seen major box office successes, but this year's sluggish performance is expected to improve with the release of "Captain America: Brave New World" and "Paddington in Peru" in February.
"One of Them Days" - $11.6 million
"Mufasa: The Lion King" - $11.5 million
"Wolf Man" - $10.6 million
"Sonic the Hedgehog 3" - $8.6 million
"Den of Thieves 2: Pantera" - $6.6 million
"Moana 2" - $6.1 million
"Nosferatu" - $4.3 million
"A Complete Unknown" - $3.8 million
"Wicked" - $3.6 million
"Babygirl" - $2 million

Hilary Clinton Bursts Out Laughing When Donald Trump Renames Gulf Of Mexico
A video from the inauguration ceremony shows Hilary Clinton burst out laughing in his seat when Donald Trump announced his plans to rename the Gulf of Mexico and Alaskar's Mount Denali from his inauguration stage. Hillary also shook her head when Donald Trump talked about the Panama Canal that Trump wants to bring back under US control.

In the viral video, as Hillary Clinton could be seen laughing, Bill Clinton turned toward her while Kamala Harris, Doug Emhoff, Joe Biden were sitting without showing any expression.

Renaming of Gulf of Mexico to Gulf of America
As announced earlier, Donald Trump Monday said the Gulf of America will be rechristened as the Gulf of America, and Denali, the highest mountain in North America will again become Mount McKinley. These two renamings is to honor "American greatness", the draft order said.
"We're going to be changing the name of the Gulf of Mexico to the Gulf of America, which has a beautiful ring that covers a lot of territory, the Gulf of America," Trump earlier said. "What a beautiful name. And it's appropriate. It's appropriate. And Mexico has to stop allowing millions of people to pour into our country."

The Gulf of Mexico is one of the largest and most important bodies of water in North America. It's the ninth-largest body of water in the world and covers some 600,000 square miles.
Renaming the Gulf of Mexico is just one of the executive action that Donald Trump will be taking during the first hours of his presidency. He will declare a national emergency at the US-Mexico border, send US troops to help support immigration agents and restrict refugees and asylum. He's also pledged to restart a policy that forced asylum seekers to wait over the border in Mexico, but officials didn't say whether Mexico would accept migrants again.

Tyra Banks  breaks silence on heartbreaking loss of her LA home. Supermodel and entrepreneur Tyra Banks has heartbreakingly revealed that she discovered her LA home has been destroyed in devastating fires.

On Monday, January 20, the 51-year-old was on the Australian breakfast show Sunrise, where she was asked about the fire and how it caused so much damage.
Speaking about her family and friends, the Dancing with the Stars alum, who has a 9-year-old son named York with ex-boyfriend Erik Asla, quipped, "Some are doing okay; some are not doing so great."

The host also enquired if she knew anyone who had lost their home, to which Banks replied, “I’m one of them. I lost my house."
She added, “I haven’t really talked about it but, yeah, I have. I just didn’t want to pull a lot of attention to me, I feel that there's a lot of people that need that attention, so I haven't really talked about it, but I can't sit here and not tell the truth, so yeah we lost our house."

Banks went on to reveal that she and her boyfriend, Louis Bélanger-Martin, were at a friend's house in Australia when they got to know about the destruction of their home.
Shedding light on this, she mentioned, “We were celebrating and just having fun. I kept checking my phone, not for my house, but just for friends and family. I was just making sure they were evacuating and everything.”

After finding out their home had burnt, the Higher Learning actress said, "I pulled it together. I didn’t say anything to my friends. I just stayed in that moment. Then we went home and we cried. We had our moment."
Notably, even though Tyra Banks’ house was destroyed, she luckily ended up saving many of her mementos because of living in both New York and Australia.

Wu-Tang Clan’s Method Man won’t be charged in alleged Staten Island gym fight
Legendary rapper and entertainer Method Man of the famed Wu-Tang Clan will not be charged after reports a man accused the hip-hop icon of assaulting him at a Crunch Fitness on Staten Island, the NYPD said Friday.
No police report has been filed for an assault in the incident and no arrest was made, according to a police source.
A 28-year-old man accused the rapper, 53, whose real name is Clifford Smith, of punching him in the face after the two ran into each other at the Staten Island gym on Thursday, according to a police source. But the Wu-Tang Clan co-founder and “Protect Ya Neck” rapper said that’s not how things went down.

“Mr. Smith categorically denies the allegations as reported and has not been the subject of an arrest by any law enforcement agency,” a representative for Smith wrote in an email to the Daily News.
A source confirmed to th News there was “no probable cause,” to arrest Smith.

The purported accuser was reportedly in a relationship with Smith’s daughter Cheyenne Smith, 28, more than a decade ago, when they were both around 18.
Last year the famous rapper’s daughter, who goes by “Chey,” launched her own music career, dropping a video for the single “Boujee & Ghetto,” in which she raps in a luxury car driving to her family’s home on Staten Island.
Smith, who was born in Hempstead, N.Y., made a name for himself as an actor as well as a rapper, playing gangster Melvin “Cheese” Wagstaff in the HBO series “The Wire.”

Kevin Costner Celebrates 70th Birthday With Heartfelt Tribute To Whitney Houston
Kevin Costner celebrated his 70th birthday by paying tribute to his late friend and co-star Whitney Houston. On January 18, Costner shared a throwback behind-the-scenes photo from the set of their iconic 1992 romantic thriller, "The Bodyguard". The photo features Costner, Houston, and her hairstylist, Ellin La Var.
"This photo reminds me of how lucky I am to be getting another birthday," Costner wrote in his Instagram story as he shared the image originally posted on Whitney's Instagram page which was managed by her estate. "We lost such a light when we lost Whitney."

"The Bodyguard," which starred Costner as a former Secret Service agent protecting pop star Rachel Marron (played by Houston), is a beloved classic that earned two Academy Award nominations for Best Original Song in 1993. The chemistry between Costner and Houston on set was palpable, turning the film into a box-office hit and solidifying their professional and personal bond.

Throughout the years, Costner has been open about his affection and admiration for Houston. During a June 2024 episode of the "Armchair Expert" podcast, he reminisced about working with the legendary singer. "I loved her - it's not like this giant mystery - so I knew that she should be the one," he said, recalling his conviction that she was perfect for the role despite initial hesitance from the film's director, Mick Jackson.
Costner revealed that he took on a guiding role for Houston during the movie's production, ensuring she felt supported. "I wasn't trying to usurp my director, but I had made a promise to her, not to f***ing him," he said. "I was always gonna keep my promise to her."

At Houston's funeral service in 2012, Costner delivered a heartfelt eulogy, encouraging mourners to celebrate her memory. "Whitney returns home today to the place where it all began," he told those gathered. "And I urge us all, inside and outside, across the nation and around the world to dry our tears, suspend our sorrow - and perhaps our anger - just long enough, just long enough to remember the sweet miracle of Whitney."

Laila Ali Throws Shade at Claressa Shields With Blunt Career Advice “Watch Your Character”-
The feud between Claressa Shields and Laila Ali has been one of the most talked-about rivalries in women’s boxing, despite the two never sharing the ring. Shields, a two-time Olympic gold medalist and undisputed champion, has often declared herself the greatest woman of all time (GWOAT). Ali, an undefeated former champion and daughter of Muhammad Ali, has publicly questioned Shields’ claim and expressed confidence in her own abilities.

Tensions escalated as both exchanged verbal jabs through interviews and social media. However, it seems Ali has a lot to focus on in her life at the moment but she still has some words of advice for the boxer.
Claressa Shields, the reigning WBC and WBO women’s heavyweight champion, in a candid interview, shed light on the ongoing tensions with Ali, aiming to clear up misunderstandings surrounding their rivalry. Widely regarded as one of the best in women’s boxing, Shields used the opportunity to provide her perspective on what many see as a clash between two different generations of fighters. The friction between Shields and Ali stems from a series of comments exchanged over the years, fueling speculation and debate among fans. But how exactly did the rivalry start between the two?

Well, in an interview on Sway’s Universe from four years ago, Ali was asked her honest opinion of what she thinks of Claressa Shields. In reply, she said, “First of all, she could never beat me. Let me get that real straight.” This did not go well with the 29-year-old, who decided to respond promptly. During an interview, the two-time Olympic gold medalist didn’t hold her feelings back and said, “If you go on boxrec and look at my caliber of opponents and look at her caliber of opponents you’ll see why she’s 24-0 with maybe 23 knockouts”.

While speaking on the All the Smoke Fight Clips Ali responded to Shields’ comments about her record, ‘She was basically trying to degrade my legacy and everything that I had done. I was like, ‘Wow you are crossing a line. You can think you can beat me, you can think that that’s fine. But to start going in on my legacy and what I have and haven’t done?” She further added, “‘You are not going to get very far in your life if you continue burning bridges. You gonna see a lot of people surpass you even though you are talented. So never think too big of yourself. You got to watch your character you got to stay humble.'”

Rami Malek Says He Was 'Thrown' on Hood of Police Car in Racial Profiling Incident: 'I Remember How Hot That Engine Was'
Rami Malek is opening up about an incident in which he was racially profiled. In an interview with The Guardian centered on his identity as an Egyptian-American man, the actor, 43, shared the moment he was "thrown" against a cop car in Los Angeles. The police, he said, received an account of a Latin man who stole liquor and a woman's bag, and he "fit the description."

"I remember how hot that engine was — they must have been racing over there and it was almost burning my hands," he said.
He added, "I remember laughing on the cop car, thinking, 'Okay, this is a very precarious situation. I may well be going to jail for something I've not done.'"
His friend, who is Caucasian, jumped in to correct the officers — that Malek is of Egyptian descent, not Latin, the actor said. The Los Angeles Police Department did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
Malek told The Guardian, "it's difficult enough traveling," being a Middle Eastern man in an airport. His full name, Rami Said Malek, has become something of a red flag with airport security, he said — though in those instances, his fame has often come to his aid.

“I started to think, ‘What is happening?’ Every time I tried to enter a country. These days, there might be a moment," Malek said. "Then they’ll go, ‘Nah, that’s the guy from Bohemian Rhapsody. Let him through.’”
Malek said he spent a lot of his upbringing reconciling his identity, between his Egyptian roots and his home in Sherman Oaks, Los Angeles. The Oscar winner didn't speak English until age 5 or 6, he said, and while his father did embrace aspects of American culture, it was a fine line of not "alienating yourself from certain aspects of the culture, but definitely not accepting them."

“I don’t know how you ever get over that. I’m what’s called ‘white passing’, but I have very distinctive features, and we definitely didn’t fit in," he said of himself and his twin brother Sami.
Malek and his brother learned to read situations carefully, to be hyper-conscious of their place or role in a room full of people. It's become such a habit that Malek can no longer "turn it off."

The actor described how another actor recently shared with his partner, Emma Corrin, that Malek has that ability to quickly sense and understand the vibe of the room.
“‘From the second Rami walks in the room, he is assessing every single situation, how it will affect him, or others, the domino effect of it all,'" Malek recalled the actor saying to Corrin. "I don't know if it's a blessing or a curse. Sometimes I find it detrimental."

Teen Heroes Denied $10K Reward for Catching Subway Arsonist Because They Called 911 Instead of Crime Stoppers Hotline
Three Brooklyn teenagers who helped catch a subway arsonist are being denied the $10,000 reward promised by the NYPD because they called 911 instead of the Crime Stoppers hotline. Navid, Kingson, and Christos spotted Sebastian Zapeta-Calil on a Queens-bound F train and alerted authorities, leading to his arrest for the gruesome murder of Debbie Kawam, a homeless woman set on fire.
Despite their quick thinking, reward administrators claim the teens are ineligible due to a technicality requiring tips to go through Crime Stoppers. The decision has sparked outrage, with Navid’s father calling it “B.S.” and Council Member Susan Zhuang demanding the NYPD honor its promise, saying, “These teens deserve the reward.”

The trio recognized Zapeta-Calil from an article Navid’s mom had shown them and called 911. Police stopped the train and apprehended the suspect. However, the NYC Police Foundation insists the Crime Stoppers hotline is the only path to eligibility for rewards, though exceptions have been made in the past.
The boys’ families are determined to fight for the reward, emphasizing their bravery and civic duty. The teens had planned to use the money for college tuition and small luxuries, like basketball shoes and NBA tickets. While they remain proud of their actions, critics say denying the reward discourages others from stepping forward in similar situations. Curtis Sliwa of the Guardian Angels called the decision “bureaucratic nonsense” and urged the city to recognize the teens’ heroism.

President Joe Biden issues “preemptive” pardons for Dr. Anthony Fauci, Gen. Mark A. Milley and members of the Jan. 6 committee

On Monday (Jan. 20), President Joe Biden issued “preemptive” pardons for Gen. Mark Milley, Dr. Anthony Fauci and lawmakers who served on the committee investigating the Jan. 6 Capitol riots. The decision, executed in the final hours of Biden’s term, aims to protect these figures from potential retaliation by his successor, Donald Trump. According to CNN, former Republican Rep. Liz Cheney, a staunch critic of the incoming head of state, was also among those granted clemency.

“I believe in the rule of law, and I am optimistic that the strength of our legal institutions will ultimately prevail over politics. But these are exceptional circumstances, and I cannot in good conscience do nothing,” Biden wrote in a White House press release. “Baseless and politically motivated investigations wreak havoc on the lives, safety and financial security of targeted individuals and their families. Even when individuals have done nothing wrong – and in fact have done the right thing – and will ultimately be exonerated, the mere fact of being investigated or prosecuted can irreparably damage reputations and finances.”

Fauci, who directed the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases for decades, became a divisive figure during the COVID-19 pandemic under Trump’s administration. Milley, the former chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, openly spoke out about Trump’s authoritarian tendencies. Since the deadly Jan. 6 insurrection, Trump repeatedly targeted Cheney and other critics in public speeches and on social media.

Despite the controversies, Biden made it clear that his final hour act did not imply any misconduct. “The issuance of these pardons should not be mistaken as an acknowledgment that any individual engaged in any wrongdoing, nor should acceptance be misconstrued as an admission of guilt for any offense,” he expressed. “Our nation owes these public servants a debt of gratitude for their tireless commitment to our country.”
This extraordinary act of executive power is without historical precedent. Unlike Gerald Ford’s pardon of Richard Nixon, which addressed an imminent legal threat, none of Biden’s recipients were actively facing prosecution. CNN added that the announcement caught some lawmakers who served on the Jan. 6 committee off guard.

Trump to sign executive orders to End All LGBTQ Rights And Diversity Policies (DEI)
President Donald Trump plans to sign executive orders Monday proclaiming that the U.S. government will recognize only two sexes, male and female, and ending “radical and wasteful” diversity, equity and inclusion programs inside federal agencies, according to senior White House officials.

The officials grouped both orders under the Trump administration’s wider “restoring sanity” agenda. An incoming official detailed the orders on a phone call Monday ahead of Trump’s swearing-in.
The official presented the gender order as part of a policy “defending women from gender ideology extremism and restoring biological truth to the federal government.”

The order aims to require the federal government to use the word “sex” instead of “gender,” and it directs the State Department and the Department of Homeland Security to “ensure that official government documents, including passports and visas, reflect sex accurately.”

In 2022, the Biden administration allowed U.S. citizens to be able to select the gender-neutral "X" as a marker on their passports.
The gender order will also prevent taxpayer funds from being used for gender-transition health care and add “privacy in intimate spaces” in facilities such as prisons, migrant shelters and rape shelters.
Trump campaigned on rolling back protections for transgender and nonbinary people and emphasized the issue in television advertisements, including a commercial that aired frequently in key swing states such as Pennsylvania. "Kamala is for they/them. President Trump is for you," the most notable ad said.

The second order the White House official detailed aims to end “radical and wasteful government DEI programs and preferencing” in the federal government.
The official said the new administration will hold monthly meetings with the deputy secretaries of key agencies to “assess what type of DEI programs are still discriminating against Americans and figure out ways to end them.”
The official said the new administration intended to "dismantle the DEI bureaucracy," singling out environmental justice programs and equity-related grants.

The official said it was “very fitting” that the DEI order was announced on Martin Luther King Jr. Day because the "order is meant to return to the promise and the hope, captured by civil rights champions, that one day all Americans can be treated on the basis of their character, not by the color of their skin.”
In recent years, Trump and conservatives have assailed DEI initiatives across American society, characterizing them as discriminatory.

Trump referred to the orders in his inaugural address Monday afternoon, saying in part that his administration would resist what he described as efforts to "socially engineer race and gender into every aspect of public and private life." He added that his administration would "forge a society that is colorblind and merit-based."
The proponents of DEI in American society have argued that such initiatives are essential to make companies, schools, government agencies and other institutions more racially and socially inclusive.
In the weeks leading up to Trump’s return to power, major corporations, such as Meta, McDonald’s and Walmart, have announced they are ending some or all of their diversity practices.

Jin Hee Lee, director of strategic initiatives for the NAACP Legal Defense Fund, said there are big questions about which exact DEI programs will be ended. She said the group is ready to take any action to prevent discrimination, including challenging the order in court.
Lee said a push to prohibit “anything dealing with efforts to address inequality” would be a “real setback in terms of racial justice advancement.”
She added that “any incoming president can set the policies for the federal administration” but that it would be disconcerting if it becomes permissible for employers or the government to “discriminate on the basis of race or sex.”
