#RHOA: Eva Marcille Confirms Reconciliation with Ex, Michael Sterling: “My Forever”
Eva Marcille is sharing a major update on where she stands with her ex-husband, Michael Sterling. Weeks after The Real Housewives of Atlanta alum revealed a "soft launch" with her ex and the father of her children on Instagram (more on that down below), she is giving a new look inside of their relationship now and confirming that they have reconciled.
Eva took to her Instagram Story earlier this week, where she reposted a photo of them hugging one another. "RHOA's Eva Marcille reveals reconciliation with ex-husband Michael Sterling two years after divorce," the caption reads. Eva then took to the Story, where she added her own commentary about their reunion.
"My FOREVER," she wrote over the photo, tagging Michael. "GangGang."
This statement comes weeks after Eva and Michael attended a Beyoncé concert in Atlanta with her oldest daughter, Marly Rae, whom Michael adopted in 2019. Just days before that, they attended Essence Festival together and were seen getting cozy with one another on a golf cart.
Eva filed for divorce from Michael in March 2023. The divorce was finalized in August 2023, according to Page Six.
Eva expressed her feelings of sadness about the split during a statement, released to People at the time.
"This has been one of the hardest decisions I have ever had to make, but sometimes life takes your journey in a direction you were not expecting," she told the publication. "Our children remain our biggest priority and the eight and a half years we have spent together will always be cherished. We ask that you respect our privacy at this time."
Eva Marcille attend the 2025 ESSENCE Festival of Culture on July 5, 2025 in New Orleans, Louisiana; Michael Sterling attends 41st Annual UNCF Atlanta Mayor's Masked Ball on December 21, 2024 in Atlanta, Georgia.
Eva took to Instagram on July 5, where she posted a video of herself, riding on a golf cart with Michael at her side at the Essence Festival in New Orleans. "Happy Essence!" she said in the video, giggling, before turning the camera on Michael, who smiled.
"I'm floating," she added, along with a sunflower emoji. "Soft launch."

The mom of three then took to Instagram on July 15, where she revealed that they had both taken Marley to see Beyoncé while she was performing in Atlanta. In the photos, Marley can be seen wearing a red cowboy hat and smiling alongside her parents inside the venue.
"Last night was epic. Marley's first ever concert with Mom and Dad, and she went and saw the Queen [Bee]!! Thank you baby," she wrote, tagging Michael.

#MusicNews: Barbra Streisand is still a woman in love, and she'll do anything to get you into her world.

That includes a new collection of duets with some of the biggest names in music. Streisand is preparing to release a new album, “The Secret of Life: Partners, Volume Two,” out in June. Across 11 tracks, she's joined by heavy hitters Paul McCartney, Bob Dylan, James Taylor, Sting, Seal, Tim McGraw, Mariah Carey, Ariana Grande and more.
First up is an emotive cover of “The First Time Ever I Saw Your Face” with Hozier. The song was originally written by English folk artist Ewan MacColl for his wife Peggy Seeger, but it's the late Roberta Flack's cover that stands out — and not only because it was used in a love scene between Clint Eastwood and Donna Mills in his 1971 film “Play Misty for Me.” Streisand and Hozier give it their own spin.
“I’ve always loved singing duets with gifted artists. They inspire me in unique and different ways… and make our time in the studio a joy," Streisand said in a statement. "I admire all of them… and I hope that you’ll enjoy listening to our collaborations as much as I enjoyed recording with all of my wonderful partners.”
“The Secret of Life: Partners, Volume Two" comprises covers and original tracks. It will be released June 25.
'The Secret of Life: Partners, Volu
me Two' tracklist
1. “The First Time Ever I Saw Your Face” with Hozier
2. “My Valentine” with Paul McCartney
3. “To Lose You Again” with Sam Smith
4. “The Very Thought of You” with Bob Dylan
5. “Letter to my 13-year-old Self” with Laufey
6. “One Heart, One Voice” with Mariah Carey and Ariana Grande
7. “I Love Us” with Tim McGraw
8. “Secret O' Life” with James Taylor
9. “Fragile” with Sting
10. “Where Do I Go From You?” with Josh Groban
11. “Love Will Survive” with Seal

#HipHopNews: Drake Pelted With Toilet Tissue & Water Bottles During Amsterdam & London Concerts
Videos have hit the internet showing fans pelting Drake with water bottles and toilet tissue while he continues to perform overseas.
According to multiple reports and TikTok videos, not all fans attending the Canadian Hip-Hop star’s shows are happy with the 6 God, as some are throwing objects at the rapper. A post on X, formerly Twitter, claims the bad behavior is due to Drake not delivering a performance worthy of the price of admission.
Drake, standing on the stage, hyping the crowd while asking them to sing his songs, is not what folks paid for, and is what is leading to fans chucking water bottles and toilet paper.
In one of the videos, Drake gets hit in the face with a bottle, while in others, you can see toilet paper being thrown and landing behind the “God’s Plan” crafter with his team quickly picking up the tossed items.
There haven’t been any videos of Drake threatening to stop the show if the dangerous behavior continues during his performances. So he seems to be taking it in stride and not punishing everyone for a handful of people acting stupid.
Drake’s touring abroad has been in the headlines lately, especially following his battle and loss to Kendrick Lamar. During some of his performances, Drizzy co-signed “f*** Kendrick Lamar” chants.
Throwing objects at performers has become an alarming trend, and we wish fans would stop, as someone can seriously get hurt.

The 2025 MTV VMA Nominations Are Here

Lady Gaga led the charge for most 2025 MTV VMA nominations, with Bruno Mars, Kendrick Lamar and Rosé not far behind her. See the full list of nominees for the show airing Sept. 7.
Just say “abracadabra” and the 2025 MTV Video Music Award nominations are at your fingertips.
The award show—which will air live on Sept. 7 from the UBS Arena in New York—promises to be as iconic as ever with Lady Gaga, Bruno Mars, Kendrick Lamar and Rosé leading the nominations.
Lady Gaga nabbed the most nominations this year, earning a Best Album nod for her recent release Mayhem, as well as being recognized in the Video of the Year category for “Die With a Smile,” alongside collaborator Bruno. The 18-time VMA winner also picked up noms for Artist of the Year and Best Choreography for “Abracadabra.” This marks the third time Gaga has amassed the most nominations, previously achieving the feat in 2010 and 2020.
But Bruno was right on her heels, with his Gaga collab also competing against his song “APT.” with Rosé in the Video of the Year, Song of the Year, Best Collaboration and Best Pop categories.
And it continues to be a big year for Kendrick, as he picked up 10 nominations including Video of the Year, Best Hip-Hop and Best Direction for his song “Not Like Us.”
Following along, Rosé nabbed nine nominations, with Sabrina Carpenter coming in behind her with eight and Ariana Grande and The Weeknd each scoring seven.
There were also 33 first-time nominees, including Alex Warren for Song of the Year with “Ordinary,” and Gigi Perez for Best New Artist. And despite already being a fixture in the country music scene, Blake Shelton picked up his first VMA nomination for Best Collaboration alongside Post Malone for their song “Pour Me A Drink.”
The VMAs could also see a record-breaking moment if Beyoncé or Taylor Swift take home the award for Artist of the Year, as the duo are currently tied as the most-awarded artists in VMAs history with 30 wins each.
Voting is open from now until Sept. 5 at 6 PM ET for all the VMA categories, aside from Best New Artist, which will remain active during the live telecast.

BET ‘Suspends’ BET Hip-Hop Awards & Soul Train Awards Indefinitely

In a move that has blindsided fans and artists alike, BET has officially suspended the BET Hip Hop Awards indefinitely.
Let me keep it a buck. I have known this for a very long time. I did not want to put it out there and cause issues. But, this is crazy! When you think of all the memories we have had with the Hip-Hop Awards. They broke out out after The Source Awards were a bust. And BET ran with it with the performances, the awards and – yes – those ciphers!
But, there is a hook I did not see. They are also ending the Soul Train Awards. Big Don Cornelius is rolling over! This was the last remnant of his legacy. What now?
These two iconic ceremonies have long served as cultural cornerstones! They both rep Black music in major ways. Since 2006, the BET Hip Hop Awards has been the ultimate showcase of rap excellence. Yes, it got wonky from time to time, but those legendary ciphers endure. Those unforgettable performances made headlines.
The Soul Train Awards go back even farther, with roots going back to 1987. They carried the torch for R&B and soul. They honored both the pioneers and the future of R&B. Now,there is no clear path forward. Oh well.
BET CEO Scott Mills confirmed the rumors, but did not say much else.
He told Billboard the following: “We have suspended the Soul Train and Hip-Hop award shows. But we have a team that’s actively thinking about where those award shows might best live as the media climate continues to evolve. They aren’t gone. And we also still have the NAACP Image Awards and the Stellar Awards.”
What do you all think about this? Are they cooking something else up or is this just a changing of the times?

T.D. Jakes Demands $76K Over Tyrone Blackburn’s AI-Fueled Bungled Legal Filings

T.D. Jakes is coming for Tyrone Blackburn and he’s not playing—the megachurch mogul says Blackburn’s sloppy AI-generated court docs wasted his legal team’s time and now he wants nearly $76,000 back.
Jakes dropped a defamation suit on Duane Youngblood after the ex-pastor accused him of decades-old sexual abuse.
But when Blackburn, Youngblood’s lawyer, filed court documents, they were filled with fake cases, false info and errors — all thanks to some AI tool that clearly flunked law school.
The judge already held a hearing to figure out if Blackburn should get hit with sanctions.
Now Jakes’ legal team says they spent 140+ hours cleaning up the mess and want to get paid for it. In a new filing, they told the court they’re asking for $75,932.50 to cover the extra work.
The filing breaks it down — time spent reading through garbage filings, responding to nonsense claims and tracking down citations that don’t even exist
Jakes’ team says their rates are solid, even with discounts and they only billed for hours tied to this AI disaster.
Jakes’ attorneys said the whole thing was a waste of time and money and they’re tired of dealing with “hallucinated” filings.
They want Blackburn or his client to cover the costs within 30 days if the judge signs off.
This whole thing is part of a bigger legal back-and-forth between Jakes and Youngblood, who’s accused him and his brother of abuse dating back to when Jakes was a pastor in West Virginia.
Jakes has denied everything and says it’s all a setup — even accusing Youngblood of trying to extort him for $6 million.
Youngblood’s lawyer tried to get the defamation case tossed, claiming it didn’t have enough detail. The court didn’t buy it.
Now the focus is on whether Blackburn’s AI-generated trainwreck ends up costing him — or his client — a fat check.

SNAP Benefits To Exclude Soda, Candy & Junk Food In 12 States Starting In 2026
Twelve states will soon ban the use of SNAP benefits for junk food purchases like soda, candy, and sugary snacks after receiving approval from the U.S. Department of Agriculture.
The new rules, effective in 2026, are part of the Trump Administration’s “Make America Healthy Again” initiative. According to Agriculture Secretary Brooke Rollins and Health and Human Services Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr., the goal is to combat obesity and chronic illness in low-income areas by limiting access to unhealthy foods through government programs.
Nebraska was the first state granted a waiver. Now, 11 more—Arkansas, Idaho, Indiana, Iowa, Utah, Florida, West Virginia, Colorado, Louisiana, Oklahoma, and Texas—are preparing to implement similar restrictions. Some will begin as early as January 1, 2026, while others plan mid-year rollouts.
Under the policy, SNAP recipients in these states will be blocked from using EBT cards to buy soda, chips, candy, and desserts. Officials say the change is intended to bring SNAP purchases in line with federal dietary guidelines and to promote healthier eating among benefit recipients.

Howard Stern’s long-running SiriusXM show reportedly set to end as $100M contract nears expiry

The Howard Stern Show may soon come to an end after a two-decade run on SiriusXM, as sources claim the broadcaster’s $100 million contract will expire later this year without renewal.
Stern, 71, who joined the satellite network in 2006, is reportedly unlikely to continue amid failed negotiations.
“Stern’s contract is up in the fall and while Sirius is planning to make him an offer, they don’t intend for him to take it,” a source told The US Sun. “Sirius and Stern are never going to meet on the money he is going to want. It’s no longer worth the investment.”
His outspoken political commentary, particularly his criticism of Donald Trump, may also play a role.
Stern famously interviewed Vice President Kamala Harris during the 2024 election campaign and has been a polarising media figure for decades. Despite his early “shock jock” reputation, he earned acclaim for his in-depth interviews with celebrities like Lady Gaga and Bruce Springsteen.
Stern began his radio career in the 1970s, rising to prominence with WXRK in New York. He transitioned to SiriusXM in 2006 and was also a judge on America’s Got Talent from 2012 to 2015. He authored several best-selling books and starred in the 1997 autobiographical film Private Parts.
With no comment yet from SiriusXM or Stern, fans await official confirmation.

Gayle King Responds After Trump Calls Her Untalented: ‘I’m Sorry He Feels That Way’

Gayle King has admitted she "feels sorry" for Donald Trump after he launched into a bitter rant about her on Truth Social.
The President wrote on social media, "Gayle King's career is over. She should have stayed with her belief in TRUMP. She never had the courage to do so. No talent, no ratings, no strength!!!" His comments came as CBS is allegedly facing growing pressure over the future of CBS Mornings, where King has been co-anchor since 2012.
King has now responded to Trump's criticism as she was filmed making her way to her car on Tuesday morning. "I'm sorry he feels that way," she shared.
The CBS host continued, "I like my job, I'm gonna continue to do a good job. There's a long list of people, there's a long list. I'm in a group now with Bruce Springsteen, Taylor Swift, Stephen Colbert. I'm sorry he feels that way."
Trump has previously launched attacks on the celebrities King listed, most recently taking aim at Colbert following the cancellation of his late-night show. While CBS blamed the axe on a "financial decision," some people blamed Trump for the move.
However, he took to Truth Social to slam the rumors. "Everybody is saying that I was solely responsible for the firing of Stephen Colbert from CBS, Late Night," the President wrote.
He continued, "That is not true! The reason he was fired was a pure lack of TALENT, and the fact that this deficiency was costing CBS $50 Million Dollars a year in losses - And it was only going to get WORSE!"Gayle King is brushing off Donald Trump’s negative comments about her.
After Trump said she was untalented and that her career was over in a recent Truth Social post, Gayle told TMZ, “I’m sorry he feels that way. I like my job and will continue to do a good job.”
Gayle also said she’s now part of a group recently targeted by the president, which includes Taylor Swift, Bruce Springsteen, and Stephen Colbert.

Dez Bryant Agrees To Fight Nicki Minaj’s Husband For $10 Million
Dez Bryant and Nicki Minaj have been jaw-jacking on social media, and it was all sparked by an issue between Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones and the team’s star defensive end Micah Parsons. In the latest chapter of their online feud, the former NFL wide receiver has agreed to fight the 42-year-old rapper’s husband with $10 million on the line.
So, how did we get here? Well, Jones mentioned his 2015 negotiations with JAY-Z, Roc Nation Sports, and Bryant while discussing his current contract stalemate with Parsons and his agent, claiming that Hov ghosted him. Roc Nation Sports fired back with a statement denying that claim, and Bryant took to X to say that he has more that he could reveal if need be.
Minaj lives for any chance to slam the Brooklyn rapper and Roc Nation, so she inserted herself and said she would tell stories about dealing with them each time the three-time Pro Bowler described his experiences with Jones, the Cowboys, and the NFL. Bryant initially entertained her threats before she made things personal, bringing up how he inserted himself in her online tension with Meek Mill in 2020 and allegedly assaulted his mother in 2012.
The 36-year-old former footballer countered that by denying the assault allegations, calling Minaj a “weird h*e” and bringing up her husband, Kenneth Petty, who is a registered sex offender. This is when the physical threats came into play. “I’m so happy you brought this up,” the Queens rapper wrote on X. “I’ll give you 10 million in cash if you’d come & fight him since you BEAT UR OWN MOM.”
Bryant seemingly had had enough of the keyboard warrior activity and agreed to fisticuffs. “I’ve been lied on my whole career so I’m not trying to hear all of that sh*t,” he wrote. “I thought we was speaking facts.. I don’t play all of that funny sh*t… go get that 10 million in cash.. I’ll stomp that ni**a out right in front of you.. and it’s ROC for life bi**h.” He added some fuel to the fire by wishing Hov a great day on X, and saying he would get Cardi B on her.
Somehow, an issue between Jerry Jones and Micah Parsons has led to Dez Bryant, JAY-Z, Desiree Perez, Meek Mill, Bryant’s mother, and Kenneth Petty’s names all being invoked. In true “Itty Bitty Piggy” rapper fashion, she has also been engaging with stan accounts who have dug up some disturbing claims about the 2014 NFL receiving touchdown leader’s family and birth. It has gotten ugly, and fists haven’t even been thrown yet.

Soulja Boy Released From Jail After Prosecutors Decline To Bring Gun Charges

Soulja Boy has been released from custody two nights after his arrest during a traffic stop in Los Angeles, with prosecutors determining that there’s not enough evidence to charge the rapper with being a felon in possession of a firearm.
The 35-year-old “Crank That” rapper (DeAndre Cortez Way) was arrested in the early hours of Sunday morning (Aug. 3) while riding in the passenger seat of a vehicle that was pulled over in West Hollywood, Calif. Police said they spotted a gun in the car and booked Soulja Boy on suspicion of being a felon in possession of a firearm (the rapper has a criminal record for previous weapons violations).
But Soulja Boy was released from custody just before 2 p.m. PT on Tuesday (Aug. 5) after prosecutors opted not to bring charges against him, according to city jail records. A spokesperson for the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office tells Billboard, “A case was declined due to insufficient evidence.”
The rapper tacitly celebrated his release with an Instagram story, writing, “First day out” against a plain black backdrop. Soulja Boy’s legal reps did not immediately return a request for comment.
Soulja Boy was convicted in 2014 for carrying a loaded firearm in public. While he was initially sentenced to probation, the rapper was later arrested for violating the terms of that probation and served 240 days behind bars in 2019.
He’s also faced a series of civil lawsuits for alleged sexual assault and domestic abuse in the years since the success of “Crank That,” which spawned a viral dance craze and spent seven weeks atop the Billboard Hot 100 in 2007.
Soulja Boy has already lost two trials over these abuse allegations, and he’s facing down jury verdicts totaling more than $4 million in cases brought by his ex-girlfriend Kayla Myers and an anonymous former personal assistant. Another anonymous ex-girlfriend has a pending civil lawsuit claiming Soulja Boy beat her while she was pregnant with their child.

Al B. Sure Accuses Diddy's PR Team of Erasing Kim Porter Stories
Al B. Sure has claimed that there’s a high-level cover-up in relation to Kim Porter’s death.
In a since-deleted post shared to his Instagram account, the 57-year-old singer-songwriter shared an alleged screenshot of an email thread between public strategy firm Actum and Diddy’s Bad Boy Entertainment with the subject line, “Kim Porter Media Blackout.”
The purported email shows an Actum representative writing, “Per our contract, we’ve suppressed Porter death rumors in 27 outlets. Enquirer is holding for $50K.” Beneath it, an “urgent” note about Sure “escalating Porter claims” is mentioned along with directions to “discredit via ‘mental health’ framing.”
Al B Sure is making some serious allegations against Diddy and his PR team.
Sure captioned the post, writing, “Diabolical! Remember when I stated there was ‘the most expensive PR media campaign’ initiated to conceal evidence, discredit, silence, and drag me through the national media when I exposed all of this deplorable activity, and then stood ten toes down about Kimberly's alleged murder? ‘Al B's just looking for attention, clout chasing,’ etc. Incorrect, I didn't asked to be dragged into any of this depravity, be gang stalked (and you have no idea what else, but will).”
In a separate post, he added, “Don't shoot the messenger here.If my name incidentally appears in a sealed court document without my knowledge, it is the responsibility of competent legal counsel to conduct appropriate due diligence to ascertain the context. Any reference to 'Mental Health/Framing' in such filings particularly if used inappropriately to deflect from the gravity of a potential murder investigation should be scrutinized with the utmost seriousness.”
In a cease-and-desist letter from Michael Eisner of Eisner Law, Actum denied ever working with Combs or being involved in any media suppression.
“Actum has never provided any services to Diddy, or to any of his affiliated companies or associates, either directly or indirectly,” read the statement, per Baller Alert. “We are working with our legal team and will be taking immediate action.”
Porter welcomed son Quincy with Al B. Sure in June 1991. She began dating Diddy in 1994 when Quincy was three years old.
The late model and actress also shared three other children with Diddy, including 27-year-old Christian “King” Combs, and twin daughters D’Lila and Jessie Combs, 18.
Porter died of lobar pneumonia in 2018. She was 47 years old.

Luenell on ‘Ugly’ Shannon Sharpe’s Lawsuit Settlement: ‘That Little Slut Worth All of That Money?’

Comedian Luenell has some thoughts about Shannon Sharpe getting fired from ESPN. On a social segment from Dish Nation, called Side Dish, the comedian revealed that she thinks it’s “goodie goodie” that he got let go, following him settling a sexual assault lawsuit. “Was that little slut worth all of that money?” she asked. “Shannon Sharpe suffers from the same thing that Dennis Rodman suffers from. I’m ugly, but I made it anyway.”
Luenell, who previously shot her shot at him on Instagram by asking if he wanted to have sex on a private plane, began ridiculing how Sharpe dresses. “You have to admire his body because he wears his clothes so obviously tight,” she joked. “He’s a little sus if you ask me.”
To explain her sudden change of heart about him, Luenell broke down why she’s not in his favor anymore. “Shannon Sharpe, we tried to get on your show,” she told the camera. “When you was popular, you didn’t want me. Back then, he didn’t want me, now he’s losing, and he’s all up on me, wants me to do the show. I’m not doing it, Shannon.”
ESPN cut ties with Sharpe less than two weeks after he settled his sexual assault lawsuit with an accuser, identified anonymously as Jane Doe, who originally sought $50 million in damages for emotional and psychological harm.”
At the time of the settlement, the Doe’s attorney, Tony Buzbee, confirmed that “after protracted and respectful negotiations, we have reached a mutually agreed-upon resolution. All matters have now been addressed satisfactorily, and the matter is closed. The lawsuit will thus be dismissed with prejudice.”
The dollar amount of the settlement hasn’t been revealed, but Sharpe joked on an episode of his Nightcap podcast that he’s currently a little “light” in the pockets — seemingly because of it.
Earlier this year, when speaking about the allegations, Sharpe claimed that the lawsuit was “a blatant set-up” and a “shakedown.”

Zendaya Flashes Her Engagement Ring on Walk With Fiancé Tom Holland
Zendaya and Tom Holland are enjoying an English summer.
After all, the couple—whose engagement was confirmed in January—were spotted enjoying a walk in London’s Richmond Park August 2, per photos obtained by The Daily Mail.
As they made their way through one of the park’s paths, the couple chatted casually as they walked their dogs—Zendaya’s miniature schnauzer Noon as well as Tom’s new dog Daphne.
For the low-key outing, Tom sported a red hat topped with a logo from his nonalcoholic beer company, Bero, along with casual black pants, a light blue T-shirt and sneakers. Zendaya, for her part, wore a baby pink sweater with oversized black shorts, white socks and a pair of lace-up Mary Jane sneakers.
Of course, the Euphoria actress also sported her five-carat engagement ring for the excursion, with the extravagant piece of jewelry standing out on her left hand.
As for when fans can expect to see Zendaya’s grandest accessory alongside a white dress? The Disney alum’s longtime stylist Law Roach recently revealed that the Odyssey stars have lots of professional endeavors to wrap up before they tie the knot.
“The process hasn't even started yet," he told E! News last month. “Zendaya is working on so many movies. She's now filming the next iteration of Dune, so she's away doing that. It's so many movies, so we have time. We have a lot of time.”
Indeed, Zendaya is quite booked filming Dune: Part Three and Euphoria’s third season on top of The Odyssey and Spider-Man: Brand New Day, both of which she’ll appear in alongside Tom.
But despite their packed schedules, the couple—whose romance was made public in 2021—are clearly making time for each other. On top of their recent day out together in London, they were previously spotted on a coffee date in Scotland last month, and Tom visited Zendaya on the set of her HBO series back in April.
And though neither Tom, 29, nor Zendaya, 28, have shared details of their engagement themselves, Tom’s dad Dominic Holland assured his son was “very incredibly well prepared” for their big moment, which happened over the holidays.
“He had purchased a ring," Dominic wrote in a Patreon post back in January. “He had spoken with her father and gained permission to propose to his daughter. Tom had everything planned out… When, where, how, what to say, what to wear."
Zendaya and Tom are a notoriously private pair, but they have shared glimpses into their love story over the years.

Marvin Sapp Defends Gospel’s Roots in Response to Maverick City Critique

*Renowned gospel artist and pastor Marvin Sapp responded to controversial remarks made by Norman Gyamfi, CEO of Insignia Assets, the parent company of Maverick City Music. Speaking on “The Isaac Carree Show,” Gyamfi criticized traditional gospel music for “over singing,” citing Sapp’s hit “Never Would Have Made It” as an example and claiming it doesn’t resonate with younger Black Christians.
Gyamfi, highlighting Maverick City’s five Grammy wins, claimed, “The Gospel norms wasn’t working [any] more, y’all sing too hard, y’all oversing.” As The Christian Post reports, he attributed the group’s success to a “perfect storm” of accessible songs crafted with “respectfully white writers and producers” during the pandemic.
Sapp, in a Facebook post, acknowledged Gyamfi’s points on gospel’s slow digital adaptation, stating, “Norman raised valid concerns about how slowly the gospel industry has embraced the digital age.” However, he emphasized the genre’s spiritual legacy, saying, “I’ve been a gospel artist for nearly four decades. … I didn’t get here by rejecting tradition.”
He underscored gospel’s role beyond commerce: “Gospel music has never just been about platforms or placement. It’s been about ministry, credibility, and connection.” Sapp cautioned against dismissing the genre’s historical ecosystems, such as church support and gospel festivals.
Maverick City’s Naomi Raine countered Gyamfi’s narrative, stressing the group’s organic roots. “As grateful as I am to be a founding member of Maverick City Music, … that was formed organically in songwriting rooms and writing camps by genuine connections and the Spirit of God!” she wrote on Instagram.
The debate sparked wider reactions. Comedian Jessie Woo, on Threads, called Gyamfi’s interview “a hard watch,” noting, “My biggest takeaway is that CCM is more money-driven than God driven.” Anne Marie Archer replied, “Gospel music isn’t there to make money, it is there to save your soul.”

Jennifer Lopez Reportedly Faces Weak Demand for Las Vegas Shows as Tickets Remain Largely Available
Jennifer Lopez might be working overtime to stay in the spotlight, but her fans don’t seem to be buying it, literally.
Following a canceled tour last year due to low ticket sales, Lopez is now on a global run performing at unexpected stops like Turkey, Kazakhstan, and Egypt. In Las Vegas, she’s prepping for a mini-residency, three shows for New Year’s and six in March. However, tickets are still widely available.
“(Lopez) made a deal for up to 100 shows over three years, but there’s been little interest so far from the fans, especially at these prices,” a music insider said, pointing to prices between $121 and $1300. A Lopez rep denied the 100-show claim, saying she has the option to do more “if she feels like it.”
Meanwhile, Dolly Parton’s two-week Vegas stint sold out within 24 hours, and resale tickets are going for over $10,000.
“It’s shocking how well Dolly did and how poorly JLo is doing (per sales),” the insider added.
In an effort to stay buzzworthy, Lopez has turned up the heat, teasing new, seductive music. She also debuted “Up All Night,” taking lyrical aim at ex-husband Ben Affleck.
Still, some insiders believe her constant reinvention is backfiring.
”It just all seems so desperate,” one said. “Maybe she should just stay home for a minute.”
Lopez is set to perform next in Warsaw, Poland.

Ice Cube’s “War of the Worlds” Reboot Hits Rock Bottom with Zero Percent on Rotten Tomatoes

Ice Cube’s 2025 take on “War of the Worlds” just joined an elite club: movies with a zero percent Rotten Tomatoes rating. Directed by Rich Lee, this version of H.G. Wells’ classic sci-fi story is streaming on Prime Video, but critics and audiences aren’t feeling it.
The film features Cube as a Homeland Security analyst monitoring threats through a computer screen. Even that unique concept couldn’t save it from its clunky execution.
One Rotten Tomatoes user noted the “rampant product placement,” visible multiple times within the first eight minutes. On Metacritic, it’s no better, currently holding a 1.8 user score.
Compared to past versions, like Spielberg’s 2005 hit starring Tom Cruise, this reboot seemingly misses the mark by a galaxy.
