“I love acting where it’s like, What is this? I can’t even mentally grab it,” she told me. “I love when I’m moving out of my own knowledge into a place of…it’s almost like free-falling.”
“Taking a risk is what I’ve always done,” she said. Nor does she dwell on mistakes. “You get back up and you try again and you learn.” Her successes, acting or producing, allow her the scope to work on offbeat projects. “I still go back to shoestring indie filmmaking because it was where I was born,” she explained, “but then I can move into a big studio [movie] like Practical Magic, where you go, Okay! But that has an enormous amount of pressure and responsibility,” she acknowledged, “and how do you carry that load?”

#RHOA: Kandi Burruss Joins Broadway’s ‘& Juliet’ Cast
Burruss, who performed in musical theater as a kid, made her Broadway debut in the long-running hit “Chicago” in 2018. She has since produced a range of plays and musicals such as “The Piano Lesson,” “The Wiz” and “Othello.” The reality TV star is also a music industry veteran; Burruss was a longtime member of the R&B girl group Xscape and has songwriting credits on hits like Destiny’s Child’s “Bills, Bills, Bills,” TLC’s “No Scrubs” and Ariana Grande’s “Break Up With Your Girlfriend, I’m Bored.”

Burruss starred on Bravo’s “Real Housewives of Atlanta” for 14 seasons, beginning with its second season in 2009. On the red carpet for the 2024 Grammys, she told Variety she was leaving the show ahead of its 16th season.
“& Juliet,” a jukebox musical, is a revisionist take on Shakespeare’s classic tale of star-crossed lovers. It uses the music of Swedish mega-producer Max Martin to imagine what would happen if Juliet didn’t die at the end of “Romeo & Juliet.” Her second chance at life (and love) is scored to pop anthems like NSYNC’s “It’s Gonna Be Me,” Kelly Clarkson’s “Since U Been Gone,” Britney Spears’ “I’m Not a Girl, Not Yet a Woman” and “Overprotected” and Katy Perry’s “Roar.” After opening on Broadway in 2022 at the Stephen Sondheim Theatre, the show was nominated for nine Tony awards, including best musical. Other stars like TikToker Charli D’Amelio and former NSYNC member Joey Fatone have joined the cast at various points in its run.
Variety gave “& Juliet” a positive review, with critic Cristian Lewis calling it “exactly the show Broadway needs right now: fun, exuberant, supremely joyful, hilarious, and excellently performed by a talented and diverse cast. The world is crumbling around us; we might as well dance to pop songs and throw some glitter in the air.”

Wendy Williams Says She’s Forced To Live In “Dump” That Costs $25K Per Month
Wendy Williams slammed her pricey New York City assisted living residence as a “dump” during a rare phone interview, as her court-ordered guardianship and health issues continue to stir controversy.
Coterie Hudson Yards is described as lavish, with marble floors, fresh lilies, a crystal chandelier, 24/7 nursing care, a private theater, spa and salon. Her 360-square-foot studio suite comes with a steep monthly cost.
The 60-year-old former daytime TV host currently lives on the memory care floor of the luxury facility, which charges $25,800 per month.
Despite the upscale amenities, Williams said she’s miserable. “Did you see the people? The elderly people? Why do I want to look at that? This is a f—-d-up situation,” she told The Cut. “I can’t tell you how many times I’ve asked that I be moved from this floor.”
Williams’ estate also covers her guardian Sabrina Morrissey’s fees, a $10,000 monthly retainer for her personal attorney and other legal expenses. In 2024, lawyers flagged concerns about her financial situation
Morrissey sold Williams’ 2,400-square-foot condo at a loss and rehomed her two cats.
Placed under guardianship in 2022, Williams has limited freedom. The memory care floor is locked, and she needs approval from both the facility and her guardian to leave. She has no cell phone access and can only make outgoing calls from a landline.
In February 2024, Williams’ team announced she had been diagnosed with frontotemporal dementia and progressive aphasia. Still, Williams denies having dementia.
Her ex-husband, Kevin Hunter, filed a $250 million lawsuit in June to terminate the guardianship, calling it “fraudulent bondage.” He also accused the judge in the case of being “crooked.”
A judge dismissed the lawsuit on October 9, but Hunter can refile. Williams and Hunter divorced in 2019 after she discovered he had fathered a child with another woman during their 21-year marriage.
Hunter had been receiving $37,500 monthly in alimony before the guardianship halted payments.
Williams’ attorney Joe Tacopina has been outspoken about the case. “She’s the same Wendy Williams that you know from TV. She’s a person who’s in control of her faculties and is a great human being,” he told TMZ in July.
Tacopina said the guardianship is “scary” and “it’s hard to get out.” He confirmed plans to sue those involved, calling the arrangement “basically, incarceration.”
He added, “This whole thing is about money, money, money, money,” and called the legal process “despicably slow.”
Despite her restricted living situation, Williams has made public appearances. She attended New York Fashion Week in September.
A new medical evaluation is expected in the coming weeks. The judge could maintain the guardianship, reduce restrictions, replace Morrissey or end the arrangement.
Questlove’s Earth, Wind & Fire Doc Finds Producing Partner in HBO
The Earth, Wind & Fire project will mark Questlove’s fourth documentary as a director. The documentarian saw Oscar success with his debut feature, “Summer of Soul (…or, When the Revolution Could Not Be Televised),” which won the statue for Best Documentary Feature in 2022 after a Sundance 2021 premiere.
HBO Documentary Films has joined the project alongside Fifth Season and will release the doc on HBO and stream it on HBO Max in 2026.
The Earth, Wind & Fire doc will tell the story of the legendary musical group through exclusive archival footage, audio and written material. Like some of Questlove’s other documentary work, the project will follow both the past and the present, speaking to both the group’s history and legacy.
“I’m honored to tell the story of Earth, Wind & Fire and the deep meaning behind their message and music,” Questlove said in a statement. “To grow up listening to the music is one thing but to be handed the keys to the kingdom of preserving history is another. I can’t imagine a better platform on which to share this documentary with U.S. audiences than HBO.”
After “Summer of Soul,” Questlove — whose extensive resume includes percussionist, producer, DJ, journalist and more — went on to helm the TV doc “Ladies & Gentlemen … 50 Years of SNL Music” ahead of the 50th anniversary special of “Saturday Night Live.” Questlove co-directed the project — which focused on the musical guests and sketches throughout the 50-year history of “SNL” — with Oz Rodriguez.
Questlove returned to Sundance in 2025 with a follow-up cinematic documentary: “Sly Lives! (aka The Burden of Black Genius).” The project, which focused on the career and legacy of Sly and the Family Stone, received rave reviews out of the film festival and was released in Feb. 2025.
“Thompson’s knack for cinematic pacing, compositions, and arrangement puts ‘Sly Lives!’ over the top, especially during his loving interview segments with the Family Stone band members,” Simon Abrams wrote in a Sundance review for TheWrap. “The resulting portrait feels not only true enough, but also meaningful in a way that extends well beyond Stewart’s individual circumstances. ‘Sly Lives!’ may not give you everything that you want from a movie about Stewart, but it does paint a full enough picture of an artist who knowingly ‘opened a portal,’ in Benjamin’s words, while also struggling to be both genuine and comfortable as himself.”
As for the upcoming Earth, Wind & Fire doc, Questlove produced the project alongside Dave Sirulnick, Samantha Grogin, KB White and Arron Saxe. Zarah Zohlman, Shawn Gee, Jon Kamen, Cheo Hodari Coker and Amos Newman served as executive producers.
Fight breaks out after Lions S Brian Branch smacks JuJu Smith-Schuster in the helmet after loss to Chiefs
Things got extremely heated in the final seconds of the Kansas City Chiefs’ win over the Detroit Lions on Sunday night.
As the two teams took the field at Arrowhead Stadium to shake hands with the final seconds ticking off the clock, Lions safety Brian Branch reached out and hit Kansas City Chiefs wide receiver JuJu Smith-Schuster in his facemask after blowing past Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes, who looked like he was trying to shake his hand though Branch ignored him.
That sent Smith-Schuster down to the ground. He jumped back up and went after Branch with a few others as the scuffle escalated. The fracas took officials and coaches a few minutes to sort out.

Things eventually calmed down and both teams left the field without further issue. Smith-Schuster walked off the field holding a towel to his face, and Chiefs head coach Andy Reid said that there is "pretty good damage" to his nose.
The scuffle is sure to lead to fines from the league, at a minimum, in the coming days.
"I did a little childish thing, but I'm tired of people doing stuff in between the play and refs don't catch it," Branch said after the game, via The Athletic’s Colton Pouncy. "They be trying to bully me out there.
“I should’ve never did it. It was childish."
Branch said that Smith-Schuster specifically hit him in the back at one point in the game while trying to make a block, and that it wasn’t called for a penalty.
“I got blocked in the back illegally, and it was in front of the ref,” Branch said. “The ref didn't do anything. Just stuff like that. I could've got hurt off of that, but I still should not have done that.”
That hit in question came near the end of the fourth quarter, where Branch seemed to be blindsided by Smith-Schuster and knocked to the ground.
Lions head coach Dan Campbell called out Branch after the game, too.
"I love Brian Branch," Campbell said, "but what he did is inexcusable. It's not going to be accepted here. It's not what we do, it's not what we're about. I apologized to [head] coach [Andy] Reid and the Chiefs and Schuster. That's not OK. That's not what we do here and it's not going be OK. He knows it and our team knows it. "
The outburst came after the Chiefs surged ahead in the second half to beat the Lions, 30-17, on Sunday night. They took a three-point lead into the locker room at halftime, and then Hollywood Brown scored his first of two second-half touchdowns on KC's first drive of the third quarter to take all momentum away from the Lions.
Mahomes went 22-of-30 passing for 257 yards with three touchdowns and ran for another score in the win for the Chiefs, who now sit at 3-3. Isaiah Pacheco had 51 yards on 12 carries, and Travis Kelce had 78 yards on six catches. Smith-Schuster had 57 yards on three catches.
Jared Goff completed 23 of 29 for 203 yards with two touchdowns for the Lions, who had won four straight games entering Sunday. Jahmyr Gibbs had 65 yards on 17 carries, and Jameson Williams had 66 yards and a score on six catches.
Branch, now in his third season in the league, had seven total tackles.

‘RHOP’ Star Ashley Darby Mocks Costar Wendy Osefo’s Felony Fraud Arrest
The Real Housewives of Potomac's Ashley Darby reportedly took aim at costar Wendy Osefo following her felony fraud arrest.
“We’re making melodies, not felonies, if you know what I mean,” Darby, 37, said while performing at Mr. Henry’s in Washington, D.C., on Friday, October 10.
“I’m just throwing it out there,” she reportedly continued, per Page Six. “In case there’s some confusion, that’s what we’re doing around here. That’s all I’m doing here. Just making melodies. This ain’t news to us. This just news to y’all.”
Referencing Osefo’s nickname on the show, Darby added, “Zen Wen is in the pen.”
Dr. Wendy Osefo Gushed About Her and Eddie’s Financial Success on ‘RHOP’ Premiere Days Before Fraud Arrest
Wendy and husband Eddie Osefo were indicted on insurance fraud, conspiracy insurance fraud and making false statements to police officers on Thursday, October 9, according to court documents obtained by Us Weekly.
The couple were booked in Westminster, Maryland, on Thursday. Wendy and Eddie were released the following day after posting $50,000 bond each, a rep for the Carroll County Detention Center confirmed to Us.
“Dr. Wendy Osefo and her husband, Edward Osefo, are back home safely with their family and in good spirits,” a rep for the pair told Us in a statement. “They are grateful for the outpouring of concern and support from friends, fans, and colleagues. The Osefos, alongside their legal team, look forward to their day in court. At this time, they respectfully ask for privacy as they focus on their family and the legal process ahead.”
The pair’s arrest comes more than one year after the Carroll County Sheriff’s Office responded to a reported burglary at their home. In April 2024, Wendy and Eddie claimed that when they returned home following a trip to Jamaica, several designer bags and pieces of jewelry were stolen.
At the time, Eddie shared statements with two insurance companies regarding the stolen property. Wendy and Eddie signed their statements, claiming $2,500 damages to their home and $450,000 in property.
Days after the alleged burglary, Eddie included Wendy’s gold diamond anniversary band in the insurance claim. The twosome went on to receive a $25,380 settlement from Travelers Insurance.
In a second claim, with Jewelers Mutual Insurance, Wendy’s gold diamond anniversary band was not mentioned. The Travelers Insurance settlement was also not included.
After the alleged burglary, authorities reportedly saw photographs of Wendy wearing the stolen band. A search and seizure warrant on their home found that at least 15 items Wendy and Eddie claimed to be stolen were in the house. According to court documents obtained by Us, the investigation found that the pair were “burdened by substantial debt.”

MTV will be removing music 5 channels from their network
The music died a little more on October 12, when Paramount Global delivered crushing news to millions of MTV fans worldwide. After 44 years of defining youth culture and launching countless musical careers, the entertainment giant announced it will permanently shut down five beloved MTV music channels by December 31, 2025.
For generations who grew up glued to their television screens, waiting for their favorite music videos to play, this marks the end of an era that shaped how the world experienced music, fashion and pop culture.

These channels will cease broadcasting first in the United Kingdom and Ireland, followed by similar shutdowns across continental Europe and other international markets. The main MTV channel will continue operating, though it now focuses primarily on reality shows like Catfish and The Challenge rather than music content.
The decision also affects other Paramount-owned networks including NickMusic EMEA, Comedy Central Extra and Paramount Network, as the company streamlines its television portfolio.
Why the legendary network made this painful choice
The writing has been on the wall for years as viewing habits transformed dramatically. Music fans no longer wait for their favorite videos to appear on television – they simply open YouTube, Spotify or TikTok and find exactly what they want instantly.

Paramount’s merger with Skydance Media earlier in 2025 accelerated these closures as part of aggressive cost-cutting measures. The music channels, which attract only a fraction of their peak audiences from the 1990s and 2000s, became financially unsustainable under the company’s new strategy focusing heavily on its Paramount+ streaming service.
The UK production unit already experienced staff reductions and programming cutbacks in early 2025, signaling these closures were inevitable.
Social media exploded with emotional reactions as news spread, with fans sharing memories of discovering their favorite artists through MTV’s carefully curated programming. Many described feeling like they were losing a piece of their childhood, remembering countless hours spent watching countdowns and music video marathons.

Penn State has access to talent in the Northeast, Mid-Atlantic and Midwest, and can compete for major goals on a regular basis. The team can aim high with candidates, including from within the Big Ten, and certainly target those with a track record of winning the biggest games.

Wendy and husband Eddie Osefo were indicted on insurance fraud, conspiracy insurance fraud and making false statements to police officers on Thursday, October 9, according to court documents obtained by Us Weekly.
The couple were booked in Westminster, Maryland, on Thursday. Wendy and Eddie were released the following day after posting $50,000 bond each, a rep for the Carroll County Detention Center confirmed to Us.
“Dr. Wendy Osefo and her husband, Edward Osefo, are back home safely with their family and in good spirits,” a rep for the pair told Us in a statement. “They are grateful for the outpouring of concern and support from friends, fans, and colleagues. The Osefos, alongside their legal team, look forward to their day in court. At this time, they respectfully ask for privacy as they focus on their family and the legal process ahead.”
The pair’s arrest comes more than one year after the Carroll County Sheriff’s Office responded to a reported burglary at their home. In April 2024, Wendy and Eddie claimed that when they returned home following a trip to Jamaica, several designer bags and pieces of jewelry were stolen.
At the time, Eddie shared statements with two insurance companies regarding the stolen property. Wendy and Eddie signed their statements, claiming $2,500 damages to their home and $450,000 in property.
Days after the alleged burglary, Eddie included Wendy’s gold diamond anniversary band in the insurance claim. The twosome went on to receive a $25,380 settlement from Travelers Insurance.
In a second claim, with Jewelers Mutual Insurance, Wendy’s gold diamond anniversary band was not mentioned. The Travelers Insurance settlement was also not included.
After the alleged burglary, authorities reportedly saw photographs of Wendy wearing the stolen band. A search and seizure warrant on their home found that at least 15 items Wendy and Eddie claimed to be stolen were in the house. According to court documents obtained by Us, the investigation found that the pair were “burdened by substantial debt.”

When he asked his parents why they kept him from the movement, their answer reshaped his perspective. “‘We didn’t want anything to limit you in your thinking of what the possibilities for your future could be,’” they told him. “‘And if we had attached you to our anger then you would be stuck in our anger.’”
Now 76, Richie expressed frustration with what he views as society’s regression. However, he makes it clear that politics is not his path. “If you’re waiting for Martin Luther Richie, he ain’t coming,” he said. “But if you’re waiting for Lionel Richie, the bearer of love, you got me.”
