#MAGFAB: Ciara for FOOD & WINE Magazine Also Shares Her Thanksgiving Menu and Tips

Ciara sat down with FOOD & WINE for The Holiday Entertaining Issue to share her Thanksgiving menu, what her last meal would be, and which fellow music icon inspired her mac & cheese recipe. She also dives into the meaning behind her latest album, “Cici,” and her journey being co-owner of Ten To One Rum.

On her go-to Thanksgiving menu and which music icon she gets her mac and cheese recipe from:

“I like to experiment,” she says. The buffet is the center of the action: “I like to have everything you can think of.” From her own “mean, lean, juicy” turkey recipe to honey-baked ham and fried chicken from her favorite New York soul-food spot, Flamingobaby Kitchen, it’s always anchored by mac and cheese, featuring Muenster and a touch of Velveeta. While she’s made the recipe her own over the decades, she admits it came from another soul diva: “Honestly,” she says, “I got a little inspired by Patti LaBelle.”

On her mission to reimagine people’s perception of rum:

“That is a great challenge, because rum is a category that’s often overlooked…When people come out of that understanding, it’s like, no: Rum can level up.”

On connecting with Ten To One founder and CEO Marc Farrell and becoming co-owner of the rum company:

“Once I met Marc, it was like all the boxes were checked off: I love the product first and foremost. I also like how he had beautifully crafted Ten To One, from the rum itself to the actual bottle. And so I joined him very quickly after as an investor, director, and co-owner, and we’ve been rolling ever since.”

On where the name ‘Ten to One’ came from:

“The idea of the first federation of 10 countries of the Caribbean coming together to become one…We’re stronger together than we are apart.”

On the meaning behind her 2025 album, “CiCi”:

“My album CiCi is titled after my nickname, and you know, I think when someone calls you by your nickname it’s really personal, and this album is somewhat personal for me because it’s really me reflecting on the journey, you know, to be doing this thing 21 years later since my first album ‘Goodies’ and to still feel the warm welcome that my fans give me and to feel all the love and support that my fans have shown me over the years, fills my heart up with so much gratitude and, you know, it’s just really personal for me.”

On her favorite track from “Cici”:

“My favorite song would probably be my song Low, featuring Diamond Platinums. This was a collaboration that I was so excited to make happen. Diamond is from Tanzania. And he is an incredible artist who can not only sing and make great music, but he can also dance and you guys know dancing is my jam, so I love the idea of us coming together from two different parts of the world but are connected in a great way because I do have African in my roots, but I just love being able to join forces on this song, to make it what it is and so I’m really, really happy and excited about this song.”

On what her last meal would be:

“My last meal is a little hard for me to pick because, you know, I’m definitely Blexican and Blasian, do the math. It would be a crispy rice tuna with jalapenos, extra jalapenos, yellow tail sashimi with extra jalapenos, edamame, and miso cod, honey with the honey sauce and some steamed rice. I think we in there like swimwear. And then the other combination that I love is my Red Lobster cheesy biscuits with my shrimp linguini, my coconut shrimp with the pineapple sauce, and I would have to do me a nice little seafood broil. Those vibes are perfect.”

On which essential goodies she keeps stocked in her kitchen:

“I’m really big on having the basics, because I think that you need the basics to survive…I also love things like my Oreo cookies, my Chips Ahoy chocolate chip cookies I’m obsessed with. You have to have Coca-Cola in my fridge. My fridge is not my fridge without Coca-Cola in it…Yeah, I love me some matcha green tea ice cream. It is a vibe. It’s so good. It’s like probably my favorite ice cream. And I also love cookies and cream ice cream. So those are, those are just a few of the items I love having. I also love having a Snickers bar ice cream in my freezer as well. It is so fire, but all of those things are just like CiCi’s necessities as it relates to my kitchen.”

#RHOA: Porsha Williams could face federal charges following incident on Delta flight
“Real Housewives of Atlanta” star Porsha Williams could end up facing federal charges following an incident on a Delta flight on Sunday night.
Williams was flying from Las Vegas to Atlanta when Williams and another passenger “were spoken to by cabin crew,” Delta said in a statement.

The airline said the flight continued to Atlanta without any problems, but TMZ obtained photos of Williams being escorted off the flight by Atlanta police at Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport.
Delta confirmed that “law enforcement met the flight upon arrival at Atlanta.”

While there are few details about what happened on the flight, the FBI told Channel 2 Action News that “FBI Atlanta is aware of the incident on the flight.”
“It is unknown at this time if federal charges will apply,” the FBI’s statement said.

#HipHopNews: Fetty Wap’s Early Prison Release After 6-Year Drug Trafficking Sentence Is Official
Fetty Wap is coming home in time for the holidays — next year. Currently serving six years on drug charges, the New Jersey rapper’s release date has been pushed up to early December 2026.
Born Willie Junior Maxwell II, Fetty was indicted and arrested back in October 2021 on federal drug trafficking charges. The Grammy-nominated rapper was freed on $500,000 bond and had to wear a GPS monitor as a condition of his bail.

The U.S. Attorney’s Office accused Fetty — who was the last to be arrested — and five others of conspiring to sell and distribute over 100 kilograms of illicit narcotics.
In 2023, and after an arrest for a bail violation the year prior, Fetty pled guilty to the charges of conspiracy to distribute and possess cocaine. He was sentenced to six years in federal prison. He was also hit with five years of supervision after his release.

“The pipeline of drugs in this investigation ran thousands of miles from the West Coast to the communities here in our area, contributing to the addiction and overdose epidemic we have seen time and time again tear people's lives apart,” FBI Assistant Director-in-Charge Michael Driscoll said in a statement at the time. “The fact that we arrested a chart-topping rap artist and a corrections officer as part of the conspiracy illustrates just how vile the drug trade has become.”

On Friday (Nov. 14), US Weekly reported that his release has been pushed up to Dec. 9, 2026. At time of publication, there was no information on what caused the update to Fetty Wap’s timeline.
Initially, the "Trap Queen” rapper was supposed to be a free man on March 13, 2027. However, in September, it was reported that he would be walking out of prison on Jan. 8, 2027, a couple of months early.

According to court filings, Fetty and his crew moved over 100 kilograms of coke, heroin, fentanyl and crack cocaine between June 2019 through June 2020 across New Jersey and Long Island. Along with drugs, the investigation also netted about $1.5 million in cash, two handguns, a rifle, a pair of pistols and ammunition.

Akon Requests Joint Legal and Physical Custody of Daughter Journey, 17, amid Divorce from Estranged Wife Tomeka Thiam

Akon has responded to his estranged wife's divorce filing.
According to court documents obtained by PEOPLE, Akon, born Aliaune Badara Thiam, has filed a response after his estranged wife Tomeka Thiam initially filed for divorce back in September.

In his response, Akon asks for joint legal and physical custody of their 17-year-old daughter, Journey. He also asked the court not to award his estranged wife any spousal support.
Tomeka had previously filed for sole legal custody and requested that she have physical custody of their teenage daughter, with Akon getting visitation. At the time, she requested spousal support and asked the court not to award the “Smack That” singer any spousal support.

Akon and Tomeka married in 1996. She filed for divorce from the musician back in September, just four days before what would have been their 29th wedding anniversary.
In the past, Akon has said he believes in polygamy, and in a 2022 interview on The Zeze Mills Show, revealed that he has nine children. Musician Amirror alleged in 2023 that she was one of the star’s four wives.

“[Polygamy is] part of our culture. Absolutely,” Akon said on Zeze Millz. “For me, it looks normal, because it’s culture for us. We didn’t go outside of our African culture when we got to the Western world. See, the flaw that the Western world made is they created all these rules without putting nature into account.”
The singer said he was “there for” all nine of his children, and that he considered it his job “to raise my kids to be responsible, to be understanding” and to “protect their mother.”

“My job ain't to be doing all that extra stuff and these holidays and recitals. While I’m taking care of my responsibility to make sure the family has a roof over their head and food, if I have the time to do that and show love, yes, I will do that,” he said. “Communication allows me to be there every day. That’s what my FaceTime phone is for.”

In Amirror’s interview with Rie Wit the Tea, she said Akon’s wives are spread out, including in Atlanta, Los Angeles and Africa.
“We all have different households, we all have different lifestyles,” she said. “We don’t have to see each other so we don’t have to be cool with each other… Akon is the type of man [where] it’s not manipulation, it’s just, if you f--- with it [or] you don’t. This is our culture… Every woman wants to be the only one, and it’s okay.”

Shedeur Sanders' home broken into during NFL debut
There was a break-in at the home of Cleveland Browns rookie quarterback Shedeur Sanders during Sunday's game against the Baltimore Ravens, a source confirmed to ESPN on Monday.
Sanders, the 144th pick in the 2025 NFL draft, made his NFL debut in the second half in place of starter Dillon Gabriel, who was placed in the concussion protocol. The game was played at Huntington Bank Field in Cleveland.
According to multiple reports, it wasn't clear whether anything was stolen from Sanders' residence and no suspects have been identified.

In the past year or so, burglaries have taken place at the homes of multiple high-profile athletes, including the Dallas Mavericks' Luka Doncic, the Cincinnati Bengals' Joe Burrow, and the Kansas City Chiefs' Patrick Mahomes and Travis Kelce.

In Sunday's 23-16 loss, Sanders completed 4 of 16 passes for 47 yards and threw an interception. He was also sacked twice. Browns coach Kevin Stefanski said after the game that Sanders will start next Sunday's game against the Raiders in Las Vegas if Gabriel cannot clear protocol.

Pro Football Talk first reported the news of the break-in.

Robin Roberts Is Bringing Roberta Flack’s Legendary Story to the Big Screen

Roberta Flack’s influence on modern music is one of those rare legacies that manages to feel both timeless and continuously rediscovered.
Known for her unmistakably soft, intentional delivery, Flack reshaped soul and pop in a way few artists have replicated. Her breakout recording of “The First Time Ever I Saw Your Face” didn’t just top charts—it shifted the entire tone of early ’70s R&B, opening a lane for quieter, more contemplative storytelling in a genre dominated by powerhouse vocals.

She later doubled down on that impact with “Killing Me Softly with His Song,” later to be remade by The Fugees, becoming the first solo artist to earn the Grammy for Record of the Year twice.

Her path to that level of acclaim was just as striking. Born in Black Mountain, North Carolina, Flack was classically trained from childhood and earned a scholarship to Howard University at the age of 15. Years before fame, she was performing at Mr. Henry’s in Washington, D.C., where jazz musician Les McCann first heard her and helped introduce her to Atlantic Records.

Her work reached a broader audience when Clint Eastwood featured “The First Time Ever I Saw Your Face” in his 1971 film Play Misty for Me, catapulting the song—and Flack—into the mainstream. In February, the legendary singer passed away, leaving behind a catalog that continues to influence artists across generations.

Now, according to Deadline, her life story is being adapted for the screen.
Robin Roberts, co-anchor of Good Morning America, is developing a scripted biopic on Flack through her company Rock’n Robin Productions
The team has secured the official life rights and is working directly with Flack’s longtime managers, Suzanne Mina Koga and Joan Martin. In addition to the feature film, a documentary about the late artist is also in development, providing audiences with a multi-faceted look at Flack’s journey.

NYPD Releases Footage of Man Wanted in Connection With Kris Boyd Shooting
The NYPD has shared new surveillance images as investigators continue searching for the man believed to be involved in the shooting of New York Jets cornerback Kris Boyd in Midtown Manhattan over the weekend.
The 29-year-old defensive back remains hospitalized, though officials say he has stabilized after initially being listed in critical condition.
According to police, the shooting unfolded around 2 a.m. Sunday outside a business on West 38th Street near Seventh Avenue. The NYPD confirmed a man was struck in the abdomen and taken to Bellevue Hospital.

While authorities did not immediately identify the victim, Mayor Eric Adams’ office later confirmed Boyd was the individual who had been shot.
Eyewitness News obtained footage showing the man detectives are trying to identify. In the video, the suspect is seen wearing a black cap, a black hoodie, matching pants, multicolored sneakers, and carrying a black backpack. The department is seeking the public's help in locating him as the investigation continues.

Boyd has reportedly told detectives the incident began as a dispute outside Sei Less, an Asian fusion restaurant on West 38th Street. Investigators are exploring whether the confrontation may have been part of an attempted robbery involving his jewelry.

No arrests have been made, and the motive remains unconfirmed.
Jermaine Johnson, one of Boyd’s Jets teammates, publicly reacted to the news, posting, “Everybody please send prayers to my brother and teammate Kris Boyd and his family!” The team also issued a statement acknowledging the incident but declined to comment further.

Boyd joined the Jets this offseason on a one-year deal but has yet to appear in a game after undergoing surgery for a preseason shoulder injury.
Before arriving in New York, he built his reputation as a force on special teams during stints with Minnesota, Arizona, and Houston. The Texas alum was initially drafted in the seventh round of the 2019 NFL Draft.
Anyone with information on the suspect is encouraged to contact the NYPD Crime Stoppers Hotline at 1-800-577-TIPS. Spanish speakers can call 1-888-57-PISTA.

Lil Nas X Is 'Doing Amazing' Months After Arrest, Lawyer Says

Currently out of treatment, Lil Nas X attended a court hearing early in the week, where his lawyer shared a positive update.
As captured by Rolling Stone senior reporter Nancy Dillion, on Monday (November 17), the lawyer for the two-time Grammy winner, Drew Finding, addressed media outside the courthouse in Los Angeles.

“As you can see, "First of all, Montero is doing amazing, doing great, and we’re super happy for him. We’re just looking forward to a positive resolution in this case, which we’re very confident of," Finding said, adding that the reporters would see them again in March 2026.

“As you can see, Montero is doing amazing, doing great, and we’re super happy for him. We’re just looking forward to a positive resolution in this case, which we’re very confident of,” his lawyer Drew Findling said
In August, the rapper and singer was arrested and received a misdemeanor charge after walking Ventura Blvd. in Los Angeles at 4 a.m. and reportedly charging at police officers when they were at the scene. Lil Nas X, born Montero Hill, was believed to have been having an unspecified overdose at the time. Before the 26-year-old was detained, he was caught on camera by drivers, one of whom the artist threatened. Lil Nas X was charged with three felony counts of battery and one felony count of resisting an officer.

The following month, Drew Findling told Dillion that Lil Nas X was getting treatment for his "issues" and was surrounded by an "amazing team of people" that were focused on his personal improvement.
“He’s had a great life. He’ll continue to have a great life. This is a bump that he’s gonna get over, and on behalf of him, his family is making sure that he addresses all those issues right now," Finding told the reporter.

Lil Nas X seeking inpatient “treatment" of an undisclosed nature after his arrest and felony charges last month
“We’re doing what is best for [him] from a personal standpoint and a professional standpoint, but most importantly, for his well-being," lawyer Drew Findling says
In an Instagram Story after being released from custody, Lil Nas X reflected on his arrest as "terrifying," but said he was going to be "alright."

Danny Masterson Wants a New Trial After Getting 30-Year Prison Sentence, Blames His Conviction on Previous Lawyer
Danny Masterson has filed a habeas corpus petition in hopes of getting his 30-year prison sentence thrown out.
The former That ’70s Show actor was convicted to 30 years-to-life in prison after being convicted of raping two women. The actor is now putting blame on his defense lawyer, Philip Cohen.

Masterson is making several claims in his motion filed in a California appeals court.
The actor claims that Cohen failed to call important witnesses during the trial or use evidence that would have aided his defense. The petition alleges that the lawyer only spoke to two out of 20 possible witnesses.

Masterson‘s new attorney, Eric Multhaup, said in a statement, “The unfairness of the second Masterson trial was the result of prosecutorial misconduct, judicial bias, and the failure of defense counsel to present exculpatory evidence. The habeas corpus petition is accompanied by 65 exhibits that document the evidence of innocence that could have been presented, but was not. The jury heard only half the story — the prosecution’s side. Danny deserves a new trial where the jury can hear his side as well.”

Masterson also believes that his previous lawyer failed to push back against the prosecution focusing on his involvement in the Church of Scientology, claiming that there was bias in the trial.
The news comes just weeks after Danny‘s ex-wife filed to have his last name removed from their daughter’s legal name.

Colman Domingo Channels the Lion on 'Wicked' Red Carpet After Joining 'For Good' Cast in Surprise Role

Colman Domingo is making his first appearance alongside his Wicked castmates!
The Oscar-nominated actor channeled his character, the Cowardly Lion, while walking the red carpet at the Wicked: For Good premiere on Monday night (November 17) at Lincoln Center in New York City.

Even though the movie was filmed years ago, Colman‘s involvement as the voice of the Cowardly Lion wasn’t announced until one month ago.

Director Jon M. Chu told Deadline he DM’d the actor on Instagram to cast him. He shared, “I was like, ‘It’s not a ton of lines, but maybe you have a little time. I know you’re busy. I’ll come to you.’ He was like, ‘Why the f-k not, let’s go!’ And then we went ahead and recorded the lines.”

The Church of God In Christ (COGIC) Hits Gospel Musician Moses Tyson Jr. with Defamation Lawsuit, Demands $500K
Gospel musician Moses Tyson Jr. is facing a $500,000 defamation lawsuit, and this from an unlikely source: the church. The good book teaches about turning the other cheek, but sometimes the slaps are just too much and need to be counterchecked.
In recent months, Tyson has been out and about on social media, accusing the “Church of God in Christ (COGIC)” of all sorts of evils. He claimed the church, headquartered in Memphis, removes pastors and steals church properties from the congregants.

In his whirlwind effort to hold the largest Black Pentecostal church in the world accountable, he appeared on “The Juice Radio Talk” show, featured on the “Official King Jives” YouTube Channel, among other platforms.

“I’m seeing a few churches being illegally taken,” Tyson told radio host Regina Ogbourne, “pastors being illegally removed.”
But COGIC insists church leaders follow all the organization’s rules and bylaws, and have done nothing wrong. They clarified this while turning to court, after turning the other cheek didn’t seem to work with Tyson.

This is the same church Tyson, 64, grew up in. He is a cousin of the famed singer Sly Stone.
“The church doesn’t have a problem with criticism. What it has a problem with is reckless falsehoods and untruths,” said Taurus Bailey, an attorney. “Lies. Things that are labeled as criminal in nature without any proof at all, just because of a personal opinion.”

“Well, he can post all he wants,” said legendary Memphis attorney Walter Bailey, the father of Taurus Bailey. “But he should not be entitled to perpetrate on COGIC with baseless and scurrilous remarks. Hopefully, at some point, he will find his way and back off. When people want to demonize the church, the church has no alternative but to step forward and vindicate itself from any kind of such accusations.”

But even as they turned to federal law to mute his comments, Tyson remained defiant. He sees himself as little David facing the mighty Goliath called COGIC.
Speaking to “The Juice” two weeks ago, he said, “I told the General Counsel, if you believe I’ve done the things you said, file that lawsuit. I don’t say anything I can’t back up with documentation, videotape, or court records.”

Rory Farrell Vanishes From X After Old Alleged Anti Black Posts Ignite Online Uproar

Well, this happened. Rory Farrell, well known from the Rory and Mal podcast, appears to have removed his X account after a wave of criticism erupted over resurfaced posts that users claimed contained anti Black comments. Many of the posts circulating online targeted Black women, including high-profile names such as Rihanna and Beyoncé. As conversations intensified on social media, Rory attempted to address the situation by joining an X Spaces discussion, but it only escalated the tension.

And get this …The space quickly filled with hip hop fans, journalists, and cultural commentators who challenged Rory about the resurfaced posts and his tone. His responses, described by many listeners as sarcastic, led to even more questions about his relationship to Black culture and the audience he speaks to. His co-hosts, Mal and Demarius, joined the conversation and tried to offer support, but their efforts did little to change the mood.

Now, one would think the exchange reached a breaking point when a woman in the space described Rory’s tone as violent. Rory responded, “I could not agree more with everything that you said. My point the entire time has been saying I am not apologizing for anyone that has said that I have called Black women ugly or roaches. That is all I have said. I apologize for everything else. Do not ever say I have called Black woman ugly or roaches or anything that y’all have been trying to put on me because I never said that.”

The timing of the uproar added even more fuel to the discussion. With his past posts now resurfacing, the narrative surrounding him has shifted from music conversations to questions of accountability. He is not the only public figure dealing with old content being brought back into focus. Kayla Nicole is also experiencing renewed scrutiny of past statements as social users expand the conversation.

Let’s see how this plays out in the world of cancel culture—wild times.

Ice Spice Joins ‘SpongeBob’ Universe With First Ever Voice Role and New Original Song
Ice Spice is expanding her creative reach this winter with her debut in animation. Nearly three years after dropping her hit Bikini Bottom, she is now part of The SpongeBob Movie Search for SquarePants, arriving in theaters on December 19 through Paramount Pictures. Fans got their first glimpse of her character after Billboard released an exclusive preview on November 17. The clip shows an animated Ice Spice, complete with her signature bright orange curls, delivering a sharp one-liner in her Bronx voice: “Do not make me call security.”

Ice Spice shared that joining a SpongeBob project feels like something she brought into reality through intention. In a behind-the-scenes featurette for the film directed by Derek Drymon, she said she truly believes she manifested the moment. She added that stepping into voice acting pushed her in new ways. “I think I manifested this,” she explained. “It was a challenge, but it was really fun, new and different. I never did anything like this.”

She appears alongside a cast that includes Regina Hall, Sherry Cola, Arturo Castro, and George Lopez. Ice Spice also contributed original music to the film. Her new track Big Guy produced by longtime collaborator RIOTUSA, was released last week and serves as a playful and family-friendly addition to the soundtrack. Reflecting on the opportunity, she said, “Being part of the SpongeBob soundtrack is such a full circle moment for me. It is crazy to see my music in a movie that has been part of so many people’s childhoods including mine.”

This voice role is just one part of her growing presence in film. Earlier this year she appeared in Spike Lee’s Highest 2 Lowest with Denzel Washington and A$AP Rocky, marking her official entry into the acting space and further expanding her influence beyond music.

Yolanda Adams Sparks Debate and Support After Suggesting God Might Be Genderless

In a recent TikTok livestream with creator The Kristiana Smith, gospel icon Yolanda Adams challenged traditional ideas of God by using nontraditional pronouns and questioning the need to define the divine by gender. Speaking freely with her followers, Adams said she doesn’t believe God is limited to being seen as just “he” or “she,” saying God is spirit, something beyond what human language can box in.

“I don’t think that God is this small entity that people are trying to make him or her or it,” she shared. “Because he is spirit.”
Adams pointed out that assigning gender to God is more about how people are raised than it is about divine truth.
She pushed the conversation further by questioning how people can say they love God while showing hate to others.

“I can tell how much your God loves by the people you hate,” she said. “If God is love, how can you hate what he created?”
The singer also noted that the diversity in creation itself proves God’s expansive nature, using the countless varieties of flowers as a symbol of divine creativity and inclusivity.

“I have a problem with people who say they love God, but hate God’s sons and daughters,” she added.
The message was met with debate but also support from Christians who are part of the LGBTQIA+ community, which has historically been scrutinized by the church.
