#FASHIONFAB: Gucci Pre-Fall 2026 Pulls The Past Into A New Mood

Gucci’s pre-fall story arrives like a late night signal. Demna sets his models inside a cool lunar glow and captures them in a wardrobe that pulls from three points in the house’s past. You feel the 70s travel era in the monogram bags, the 90s club memory in the visor shades, and a denim study that threads both worlds together.

Blazers sit clean on the shoulder and fall into flared jeans that recall California road shots from vintage fashion magazines. Leather becomes a second skin with fitted moto pieces. Meanwhile, a scarlet robe walks the runway with the same intention as a coat.
The season’s through line is denim. Long hems, side stripes, and Gucci’s signature Web details create a uniform for Demna’s cast. The Gucci man drifts through the frame like a character from a fashion noir.

Bags are shaped, flattened, or blown out, as if three decades of Gucci luggage sat together on the same shelf and learned from one another. Shoes transition from pointed hardness to slipper ease, lending the pre-fall collection its offhand glamour.

Taken as a whole, pre-fall feels like a trailer cut from archival memory. Juxtaposed with a late night impulse, it sets the mood before the main collection debuts in February.

#RHOA: Kandi Burruss Gives Update on Coparenting With Ex Todd Tucker Amid Their Divorce
Kandi Burruss is getting real about the ins and outs of coparenting with her ex Todd Tucker amid their divorce.
“We have determined that no matter what we’re always going to be great coparents for our kids,” Buruss, 49, told cohosts Jenna Bush Hager and Sheinelle Jones while appearing on the Friday, January 16, episode of Today With Jenna & Sheinelle.

“So that means that, you know, we’re going to spend holidays together sometimes because we’re still a family, even though he and I have decided to go our separate ways,” The Real Housewives of Atlanta alum continued. “And we’re trying to make it as easy as possible for our children.”

In November 2025, Burruss announced she was divorcing Tucker, 52, after 11 years of marriage.
“After deep thought and a lot of prayer, I’ve made the decision to move forward with a divorce. This is a difficult and emotional time, but my focus remains on protecting my peace, being the best mother I can be, and co-parenting with love and respect,” Burrus said in a statement to Us Weekly at the time. “I’m stepping into a new chapter pouring into my work, my family and my growth. I’m grateful to everyone who supported us throughout the years, and I ask for privacy, grace and understanding as we navigate this transition with our family.”

Less than a month later, Burruss revealed that she would be spending the holidays with her ex despite their split.
“Ya’ll already know I’m going through a divorce, but we have decided that we are still going to do Christmas together,” Burruss, who is mom to Riley, 23, Ace, 9, and Blaze, 6, said on a December 15 episode of her Amazon Live broadcast. “Even though we have all this mess going on right now, we still gonna do it together for our kids, so we are spending Christmas in New York.”

In addition to remaining committed to developing a healthy and sustainable coparenting relationship with her ex for the sake of their children, Burruss is also throwing herself into work, including her role as Angélique in the hit musical & Juliet.

“[The show] definitely helped,” Burruss said on Friday of how work has helped her navigate her divorce. “When I decided to do this show is right when … in the thick of it, exactly. So it has been the best therapy for me because sometimes you have to have, you know, something to put your focus into or your attention to keep your mind out of, you know, a sad place.”

She continued, “So for me it’s like singing, performing, you know, learning to be better, make myself better — work out more, you now, work on my vocals, do everything that I’m supposed to do to make sure I’m the best I can be on stage in front of everybody. Behind the scenes I might be breaking down but I have to keep it together, you know. It gives me motivation.”
In December, the reality TV star appeared on The View to perform a song from the Broadway show. Her estranged husband later posted a clip of the segment via Instagram to show his support.

“@kandi great job!” he wrote at the time. “Keep inspiring and doing your thing!!!”

#NewMusic from Al Green Returns With New EP ‘To Love Somebody’

Iconic soul singer Al Green is back with new music. The 79-year-old singer has released his EP, To Love Somebody, via Fat Possum Records.
The four-track set features Green’s rendition of music staples, including the 1967 Bee Gees classic that the project is named after. The EP also includes a collaboration with rising star RAYE, who appears on the alternate version of Green’s 2023 single “Perfect Day.”

Elsewhere is Green’s cover of The Velvet Underground’s “I Found A Reason” and his previously released interpretation of R.E.M.’s “Everybody Hurts.”

“When Fat Possum came to my studio and played me ‘To Love Somebody’ and ‘I Found A Reason,’ I felt this instant connection and harmonies immediately filled me,” said Green. “The music spoke to me, so we immediately went to work.”
Produced by Matthew Johnson and Clay Jones, To Love Somebody includes instrumentation by Reverend Charles Hodges (organ), Leroy Hodges (bass), Archie “Hubbie” Turner (piano), Will Sexton (guitar), Steve Potts [drums], and string section arrangements from Stax Records legend Lester Snell.

In November 2024, Green released his cover of “Everybody Hurts,” three months after Maxwell shared his rendition of Green’s timeless record “Simply Beautiful.” Michael Stipe from R.E.M. shared, “Speaking on behalf of the entire band—we could not be more honored, more flattered, more humbled…this is an epic moment for us.”
To Love Somebody is the “Let’s Stay Together” singer’s first non-compilation project since his 2008 album, Lay It Down. The album debuted at No. 3 on Billboard’s Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums chart. It included collaborations with John Legend, Anthony Hamilton and Corinne Bailey Rae, with production handled exclusively by Green, Questlove and James Poyser.

#HipHopNews: A$AP Rocky Reveals ‘Don’t Be Dumb’ Tracklist & Features
A$AP Rocky has revealed the Don’t Be Dumb features via Spotify billboards promoting the album. Tyler, The Creator, Westside Gunn, Doechii, Brent Faiyaz, Thundercat, Gorillaz, BossMan Dlow, will.i.am, Danny Elfman, Jon Batiste, Slay Squad and Jessica Pratt are all set to appear.A$AP Rocky has revealed the tracklist for his new album Don’t Be Dumb ahead of its long-awaited release this Friday (January 16). Dubbed “a true masterpiece by A$AP Rocky and his alter egos,” the project features 15 songs including the recently released “Helicopter$” and “Punk Rocky.”

Other tracks include “Stole Ya Flow,” “Stop Snitching” and “Whiskey (I’m Not Resisting),” all of which the Harlem rapper has performed live in recent years.
Guest features and producers remain under wraps for now, but Rocky has teased a number of high-profile collaborators including Tyler, The Creator, Metro Boomin and Busta Rhymes, among others.

There are also rumors that the elusive Frank Ocean will make a rare appearance on the song “Air Force (Black DeMarco)” after its producer, Digital Nas, strongly hinted as much on X (formerly Twitter) earlier this week.

A$AP Rocky — Don’t Be Dumb (Tracklist):

1. Order of Protection
2. Helicopter$
3. Interrogation (Skit)
4. Stole Ya Flow
5. Stay Here
6. Playa
7. Trespass
8. Stop Snitching
9. STFU
10. Punk Rocky
11. Air Force (Black DeMarco)
12. Whiskey (I’m Not Resisting)
13. Robbery
14. Don’t Be Dumb / Trip Baby
15. The End

One confirmed (and central) contributer to Don’t Be Dumb is Tim Burton, the legendary filmmaker behind Beetlejuice, Edward Scissorhands and the late ’80s/early ’90s Batman movies.
Burton’s name appears on the official cover art, which he also designed, while the tracklist describes the album as “the nightmare b4 the release” — a clear nod to Burton’s 1982 poem The Nightmare Before Christmas (which was, of course, later turned into a cult-classic film).

“I love Tim Burton, man. I’ve been inspired by him [since] a child,” A$AP Rocky told Vanity Fair last year. “I think what he does with claymation and how he transcended into live-action movies, the parallels between them and [how] he seamlessly included it from matte painting to German Expressionism. I think he’s a fucking genius.”
Longtime Burton collaborator, the composer Danny Elfman, is also involved, with A$AP Rocky saying in the same interview: “Danny Elfman did my album with me, he scored a bunch of the song. We had [the TV] on mute and were just making music to all of the old fims, Pee-wee’s Playhouse and The Simpsons, all that.”

As for the “alter egos” part, a clue may lie in the vinyl listing of Don’t Be Dumb.
“The 15-track [album] moves through genres the way you’d move through a city — jazz, hip hop, metal, indie, R&B — each track capturing a different block, mood, or moment. It’s Rocky in full range,” it reads.

Jackée Harry Reveals Alleged Intimate Experience with Michael Jackson

Jackée Harry makes a startling revelation about her experience with the King of Pop.
The Emmy-winning actress, beloved for her role on 227 and Sister Sister sparked conversation during her appearance on the We Playin’ Spades podcast with Nick Cannon and Courtney Bee. While the group was settling into the rules of the game, Cannon introduced “black cards” as part of the penalties. If anyone cheated, their “black card” would be taken away.

That moment sent Harry’s mind racing to think of the exclusive American Express Centurion Card, which is known colloquially as the “black card.” Harry was then asked to name the first celebrity she ever saw with one.

“Michael Jackson,” she said. “But his wasn’t black. He had titanium….had to spend a million [dollars] a year, minimum.”
From there, the conversation took an interesting and unexpected turn. Jackée Harry revealed she had known the King of Pop personally since the 1990s. She was introduced through her late best friend Marva Hicks, who sang background for him.
“Everything was true down there,” Harry teased, instantly setting off alarms and laughter around the table

Jackée hesitated, joking that she didn’t want to be sued. She implied she had seen Michael Jackson intimately. In her brief description, she mentioned a “spot,” on Jackson’s penis, which sent Cannon into laughter, with him suggesting she was referring to Jackson’s vitiligo, the condition he publicly battled.
She later described Michael Jackson as a “nice cat” and likened him to Nick Cannon.

Kianna Underwood, Former Child Star, Killed In A Hit-And-Run
Child actress Kianna Underwood died Friday in a hit-and-run accident at the age of 33.
The accident took place just before 7am EST on January 16, sources told the New York Post.

Underwood was crossing at the intersection of Watkins Street and Pitkin Avenue in Brownsville when she was struck around 6:50 a.m. by a black Ford SUV, the sources said.
The unidentified driver was in a grey vehicle. No arrests have been made, and police are still on the hunt for the suspect.
The driver fled the scene and left the victim’s body on the street. Underwood was dragged two blocks and suffered severe trauma.

One of her family members, Anthony Underwood, shared the devastating news of her death on Facebook, writing: ‘Please give me and my family time to process this. Thank you.’
Underwood’s acting career included Nickelodeon’s  “All That,” the sketch comedy show that also starred Amanda Bynes, Nick Cannon and Kenan Thompson. She appeared in “All That” for seven episodes in 2004 and 2005, according to her IMDB page.

She also had a voice acting role in the animated show “Little Bill,” as well as acting roles in the films “The 24 Hour Woman” and “Death of a Dynasty.”
The young actress also dabbled in stage production, touring with the musical Hairspray.

Ludacris Backs Out Of ‘MAGA Music Fest’ Following Social Backlash

Ludacris is no longer on the lineup for this summer’s Rock the Country music festival, per People.
The “What’s Your Fantasy” rapper originally appeared on the tour’s lineup earlier this week alongside “Country Grammar” rapper Nelly.

However, a representative for the the music festival confirmed with Rolling Stone that Ludacris was no longer on the festival and directed them to the rapper’s team “for any additional comments.” A rep for Ludacris told Rolling Stone that the inclusion of the rapper was “a mix-up. Lines got crossed, and he wasn’t supposed to be on there.”

Following the initial Rock the Country lineup announcement, many Ludacris fans expressed confusion and disappointment in the rapper’s then-participation.
“Wtf better cancel that concert if you want to keep your fans,” wrote one fan in an Instagram comment. “Don’t be on the wrong side of history. No paycheck is worth it.”
Another Instagram user wrote, “At this point these rappers used their people to become known only to sell us out… not even disappointed anymore I just know everybody has a certain number that they will be anything for…”

“I’m so disappointed in you, Luda, you were my favorite and I thought I wouldn’t have to worry about you getting wrapped up in this type of nonsense,” read another comment.
Nelly is currently still on the bid. The “Hot In Here” songwriter took the stage during the “Rock The Country” inaugural tour in 2024, and last year performed at President Trump’s inauguration.

The Alicia Keys’ Broadway Musical ‘Hell’s Kitchen’ will Close After 2 Years
Hell’s Kitchen, the Broadway musical inspired by the life and music of Alicia Keys, will close its Broadway run at the Shubert Theatre on Feb. 22, 2026, producers announced this week.
The show opened on Broadway in April 2024 after a well-received Off-Broadway run at The Public Theater. Over nearly two years and close to 800 performances, Hell’s Kitchen became one of Broadway’s most talked-about new musicals.

“This story was born of my life, my neighborhood and the people I grew up with,” Keys said in a statement released by the production. “It has been an honor to watch this community take it into their hearts.”
The musical drew notable attention from audiences and critics alike. It blended Keys’ greatest hits with original numbers written for the stage, bringing her music catalog into a theatrical context.

Hell’s Kitchen also became a commercial success, grossing more than $100 million in ticket sales during its Broadway tenure and supporting charitable causes. “We are proud of the millions raised for charity through this production,” producers said in a separate announcement.
Over the run, the company gave back through a partnership that funneled donations to global child-focused programs. “Both Hell’s Kitchen and Keep a Child Alive believe every child should have the opportunity to thrive,” Keys explained about the initiative.

Original cast member Brandon Victor Dixon will return to the role of Davis for the closing weeks, beginning Jan. 27. Producers said his presence will round out the show’s Broadway farewell.
Hell’s Kitchen earned critical acclaim and industry recognition throughout its run. It won multiple awards, including Tony and Grammy honors, and introduced new talent to Broadway’s stage.
“I’ve lived with this story for years,” Keys said. “To see it connect with audiences every night has been nothing short of magical.”

Although the curtain will fall in New York, producers confirmed the musical will continue touring nationally and expand overseas with productions planned in South Korea, Germany and Australia.
Leading the current cast is Amanda Reid as Ali, with performances by Kelsee Kimmel, Yolanda Adams, NE-YO and Lamont Walker II. The production also includes a creative team of acclaimed designers and directors.

Lamar Odom Busted For DUI – Again

Lamar Odom was arrested Saturday (January 17) morning in Las Vegas for driving under the influence. The former NBA champion remains in custody as of press time.
Police booked the 47-year-old on DUI charges around dawn Saturday. Officers also hit him with two traffic violations. He was driving more than 41 miles per hour over the speed limit. Cops also cited him for improper lane change and failure to maintain his lane.

This marks Odom’s second DUI arrest in just over a decade. His legal troubles stretch back years and include a disturbing pattern of substance abuse issues.
The two-time NBA champion’s most recent arrest comes after he spent years trying to rebuild his life.

Odom opened multiple drug treatment centers in California through his Odom Wellness Treatment Centers. He’s been helping other people battle addiction since getting clean himself.
But Saturday’s arrest shows his demons might still be haunting him. The former Lakers star has faced a long road of addiction and legal problems that nearly killed him.

Odom’s arrest history reads like a cautionary tale about fame and addiction. His most serious legal trouble happened in August 2013 when California Highway Patrol officers arrested him for DUI. Police said he was driving in a “serpentine manner” on the 101 Freeway around 3:54 A.M.

Officers noted he showed clear signs of being under the influence of drugs or alcohol.
That 2013 arrest landed him in Van Nuys jail on $15,000 bail. He spent three and a half hours behind bars before getting released. Odom later pleaded no contest to the charges in December 2013. The court sentenced him to three years’ probation and three months of alcohol education classes.

The 2013 DUI arrest happened during the darkest period of Odom’s life. His marriage to Khloe Kardashian was falling apart due to his drug use and erratic behavior. The reality TV star kicked him out of their home that same month after years of trying to help him get clean.
Odom’s addiction problems reached a terrifying peak in October 2015. He nearly died from an overdose at the Love Ranch brothel in Nevada. Workers found him unconscious after he collapsed from a dangerous mix of drugs and alcohol.

The overdose put Odom in a coma for four days. Doctors told his family he suffered 12 strokes and six heart attacks during his hospitalization. Medical staff at Sunrise Hospital in Las Vegas didn’t think he would survive. Khloe rushed to his bedside despite their separation and helped make medical decisions during his recovery.
Odom later claimed someone slipped drugs into his drink that night. He said he only had one drink before losing consciousness. But the incident left him fighting for his life and changed everything about how he approached sobriety.

His near-death experience became a wake-up call that finally motivated him to get serious about recovery. Odom spent months in rehabilitation and worked hard to rebuild his relationships with family and friends.
The 6-foot-10 forward had a successful 14-year NBA career before addiction derailed his life. He played for the Los Angeles Clippers, Miami Heat, Los Angeles Lakers and Dallas Mavericks. Odom won two NBA championships with the Lakers in 2009 and 2010 alongside Kobe Bryant.

His basketball success made him a household name before he married into the Kardashian family. Odom and Khloe met in August 2009 and married just one month later in September. Their whirlwind romance played out on Keeping Up with the Kardashians and their own spin-off show,s Khloe & Lamar.
The marriage lasted until 2016 when their divorce finally became official. Khloe had filed for divorce in 2013 but put the proceedings on hold during his medical crisis. She wanted to be able to make decisions about his care while he recovered from the overdose.

Saturday’s arrest raises questions about whether Odom has relapsed or if this represents an isolated incident. His representatives haven’t released any statements about the Las Vegas arrest. The Clark County jail system shows he remains in custody as authorities process the charges.

Wayne Brady Says Life Got Better After Coming Out as Pansexual
Wayne Brady is opening up about how life has shifted since he publicly came out as pansexual — and says the experience has been freeing. The actor and comedian, who shared his sexual orientation in 2023, recently reflected on the change during a PEOPLE in 10 interview.

Brady, 53, explained that coming out hasn’t dramatically altered his personal life, noting that he isn’t suddenly dating publicly or making major lifestyle changes. “It hasn’t changed in the big sense of, ‘Oh I’m out dating and whatnot,’ because really, I’m kind of [keeping] to myself,” he said.

Instead, Brady shared that the biggest impact has been emotional and purposeful. He said being open about his identity allows him to live more honestly while also helping others who may be struggling with self-acceptance. Pansexuality refers to being attracted to people regardless of their gender identity or sex.

“I’m a believer in really trying to help the next generation,” Brady explained, adding that visibility can matter deeply to young people who feel ashamed or isolated. He specifically pointed to Black and brown kids growing up in communities where conversations about identity may feel especially difficult.

“If they see me and think, ‘Oh, that’s Wayne — and he just said what?’ maybe I can be verbal about myself,” Brady said. “So I don’t have to carry that rock.”
Brady added that his decision to come out wasn’t about attention, but about relief — and the hope that living authentically might make the path a little easier for someone else watching.

Jill Scott clarifies Prince, not Chris Brown, is her King of Pop

After seeing the fan backlash to her original answer, Scott took to X on Saturday (Jan. 17) to make her true answer known.
Jill Scott is reminding people that there might be a time and place for all questions.

The singer, who is currently on a worldwide press run for her upcoming album, declared last week that Chris Brown was the King of Pop to her. Although the title is widely associated with Michael Jackson, a nickname bestowed upon him by Elizabeth Taylor, Scott gave the crown to the “Residuals” singer during an interview with UK content creator cleanheartedkidd.

“Chris Brown,” she told cleanheartedkidd with a shrug as he thanked her for her time.
The interview was captured on TikTok and widely shared, leading several people to pop up not only in defense of Mike Jack, but question why Scott would casually name Brown over him, or anyone else for that matter.

After seeing the fan backlash to her statement, Scott took to X on Saturday (Jan. 17) and declared while the title is arbitrary, she’s riding with Prince, an artist she told the UK content creator didn’t need to release any new material even if he were still alive because his catalog is widely considered among the greatest of all time.

“OH! Baby that bs title is a consensus,” she began. “I obviously wasn’t in the mood. If I was asked again, when I hadn’t been up since 3am, fighting jet lag, I’d say Prince. He is EVERYTHING- Dancer, opulent musician, visionary, divine songwriter, showman. Keep your war. Bigger ones 2 fight.”

Scott has been more than vocal about the life she’d lead and what she’s seen ahead of her “To Whom This May Concern” album.
The album features an eclectic and thoughtful lineup of collaborators, including Ab-Soul, J.I.D., Tierra Whack, and Too $hort, alongside production from heavyweights like Adam Blackstone, DJ Premier, Om’Mas Keith, Camper, Andre Harris, Seige Montracity, Trombone Shorty, Eric Wortham, DW Wright, and VT Tolan.

Scott’s follow-up to her 2015 album “Woman” arrives on February 13.

John Mellencamp Says Daughter Teddi is 'Really Sick' Amid Stage 4 Cancer Battle
Teddi Mellencamp is still struggling amid her cancer battle.
If you didn’t know, the 44-year-old Real Housewives of Beverly Hills alum was first diagnosed with skin cancer in 2022. After having more than a dozen surgeries over the next few years, she revealed in February 2025 that she had also been diagnosed with brain cancer. A month later, she said that she also had tumors in her lungs.

While appearing on The Joe Rogan Experience on Wednesday (January 14), Teddi‘s father, rocker John Mellencamp, said that she has been “suffering” recently.
“I do have a daughter that’s really sick,” John, 74, shared. “It’s not f–king fun. She’s got cancer in the brain. And she’s suffering right now.”
John‘s update on Teddi comes three months after she her brain cancer was “gone.” In October 2025, Teddi said that doctors found “no detectable cancer” during her regular scans, but clarified her cancer battle was far from over.

“I still need to stay on immunotherapy for another year,” Teddi said at the time. “I’m still in treatment.”
In an interview from April, Teddi said she was told she has a “50/50″ chance of surviving cancer.

Muhammad Ali Stamp to be Unveiled in L.A. with Muslim Leaders

*The U.S. Postal Service will honor boxing legend Muhammad Ali with a new commemorative stamp to be unveiled Jan. 16, 2026, in Los Angeles. The event will take place at the Islamic Center of Southern California, with Muslim leaders, civil rights activists, and residents.

The Muhammad Ali stamp recognizes one of the most iconic figures of the 20th century. Known for his bold personality and global impact, Ali remains a symbol of courage, faith, and justice. The stamp serves as a tribute to his legacy on and off the boxing stage.

Leaders from the Muslim Public Affairs Council (MPAC), Project Islamic Hope, Bilal Islamic Center, and other groups are scheduled to attend the unveiling. In life and death, Ali is praised for his role as both an athlete and an advocate for civil rights.
Najee Ali, director of Project Islamic Hope, said Ali’s commitment to justice still resonates today. MPAC President Salam Al-Marayati adds that Ali’s legacy goes far beyond sports and highlights the importance of standing firm for one’s beliefs.

Lonnie Ali: ‘His Legacy Was Never Just About Sport’
In a statement, Lonnie Ali, co-founder of the Muhammad Ali Center, reflected on the stamp and her husband’s lasting impact. She emphasized that Ali’s greatness came from his humanity, not just his athletic achievements.

“Muhammad’s legacy is timeless because it was never just about sport; it was about humanity,” said Lonnie Ali. “He believed that greatness is measured not by what you achieve for yourself, but by what you do for others.”
Designed by USPS art director Antonio Alcalá, the stamp comes in two versions. Both feature a 1974 photo of Ali in his signature boxing stance, originally taken by the Associated Press.

One version places the image at the top with “ALI” in dark brown below.
The phrase “THE GREATEST” appears vertically beside the letter “I.”
The second version flips the image to the bottom, with “ALI” in red above and “THE GREATEST” in peach beside the “I.”

The stamps are available for purchase nationwide and are expected to be popular with collectors and fans alike.
Muhammad Ali, born Cassius Clay, won Olympic gold in 1960 and went on to become a three-time heavyweight champion. He was known for his skill in the ring and for his fearless activism during the civil rights era.

Ali was awarded the United Nations Messenger of Peace honor in 1998 and received the Presidential Medal of Freedom in 2005. Despite battling Parkinson’s disease for over 30 years, he remained active in humanitarian efforts until his passing in 2016 at age 74.
Ali’s faith played a central role in his life and public image. His conversion to Islam and refusal to serve in the Vietnam War became defining moments in American history. Muslim leaders at the unveiling praised his spiritual strength and moral conviction.

Many see the Muhammad Ali stamp as a long-overdue recognition of a man whose beliefs helped shape his path. It also reflects the growing visibility of Muslim Americans in the nation’s cultural landscape.
The Muhammad Ali stamp is more than just a postal item — it’s a tribute to a man who stood for dignity, justice, and equality. It reminds people of all ages that greatness includes the courage to speak up for what’s right.

Ali’s voice, once controversial, is now celebrated for its truth and power. The stamp ensures that his story will continue to inspire future generations.

Minnesota Faith Leaders Protest Target After ICE Detains Employees And Customers
Minnesota clergy members aren’t backing down from Target, and they just successfully pressured the retail giant’s leadership into a face-to-face meeting.
On Thursday, more than 100 faith leaders from across the state gathered outside the Downtown Minneapolis Target store before marching to corporate headquarters for a peaceful sit-in that lasted seven hours.

The group, organized by the multi-faith coalition ISAIAH, is demanding that Target take a public stand against the recent “surge” of ICE activity in Minnesota. The tension hit a boiling point after ICE agents reportedly entered a Target store in Richfield and forcibly detained multiple employees, who were actually U.S. citizens.

Target must be a corporate leader in ensuring that this hellfire does not continue to rain on this state or anyone else,” said JaNaé Bates Imari, an Auxiliary Minister from St. Paul. “Now is the time… We stop talking about how horrible things are and truly do something about it… We know that corporations have the ability, they have the power to stop this.”

The clergy aren’t just asking for a conversation; they have a specific list of demands for the Minneapolis-based company:
• Publicly call for an immediate end to the ICE surge and for federal agents to leave the state.
• Formally affirm all Target locations as “4th Amendment workplaces” to protect staff and shoppers from warrantless searches.
• Publicly lobby Congress to stop funding ICE.

During the sit-in, faith leaders prayed, sang, and even celebrated Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.’s birthday while waiting for a response. While Target leadership was initially silent, and reportedly even hung up on a brief phone call, CEO Brian Cornell eventually agreed to an in-person meeting scheduled for Monday, Jan. 19.

Despite the breakthrough, the coalition made it clear they aren’t celebrating yet. In a media release, the group stated that there is no victory until Target actually leverages its massive corporate power to “meaningfully protect their workers, their customers, and the communities in the state they call home.”
