Ed Sheeran’s Tour Loses All Supporting Acts In Macklemore Aftermath
Finneas, Aaron Rowe, Lukas Graham and Beoga exited Ed Sheeran’s concert run as Macklemore’s removal fueled an escalating industry dispute.
Finneas joined Aaron Rowe, Lukas Graham and Beoga in abandoning Ed Sheeran’s Loop tour Tuesday after Macklemore’s pro-Palestinian statements led to his removal from the stadium trek.
The rapidly growing exodus left Sheeran without his announced supporting acts for upcoming dates and transformed Macklemore’s dismissal into a wider dispute involving artists, promoters and powerful stadium operators.
Finneas, Billie Eilish’s brother and longtime musical collaborator, announced he would no longer join Sheeran for six scheduled South American dates in November.
“Artists must not be silenced when they speak up for the oppressed,” Finneas wrote on social media. “I have decided to withdraw from my upcoming tour dates with Ed Sheeran. I stand with Palestine and its people.”
Lukas Graham also pulled out Tuesday. The Danish group had been scheduled to perform on Sheeran’s remaining North American dates.
“We should be able to speak about war, about civilians being killed, about children who deserve to grow up. Wherever they live. Whatever flag flies over them,” lead singer Lukas Forchhammer wrote.
“Money doesn’t give you the right to own the conversation. Nobody’s bank balance should decide who gets to speak or which suffering we’re allowed to acknowledge.”
Rowe’s withdrawal came with an equally forceful explanation.
“I have made the decision to withdraw as a support act for Ed Sheeran’s ‘The Loop’ North American Tour,” Rowe wrote. “I don’t take the decision lightly. Ed has been a friend to me and has changed my life, I could never thank him enough for this.
“But as Irish people,” he continued, “we know all too well about genocide, forced famine and violent occupation. I cannot stand by and allow billionaires to use their position of power to silence the rightful voices of those who speak up against Israeli genocide and who highlight the savage murder of children. I would lose all respect for myself to carry on as normal. I need to be true to myself and my ancestors who resisted colonisation, and fought for a freedom that I enjoy today in Ireland.”
Rowe ended his statement with “Free Palestine.”
Irish band Beoga also withdrew while emphasizing that its relationship with Sheeran remains intact.
“We have been friends with Ed for over 10 years now and will continue to be,” the band said. “We believe in dialogue as a means of progressing the plight of the Palestinian people… We are Irish people who understand colonialism. As founding members of the Irish Artists for Palestine movement, we are committed activists for justice and will continue to be.”
The wave of departures followed Macklemore’s removal from the Loop tour after his Sept. 4 and 5 appearances at MetLife Stadium in New Jersey. During the shows, the Seattle rapper expressed support for Palestinians and said “Free Palestine.”
Macklemore subsequently alleged New England Patriots owner Robert Kraft helped organize opposition among stadium owners to his continued participation.
Kraft defended the decision, citing what he described as Macklemore’s “recent actions” and “a broader history of antisemitic rhetoric and imagery that we believe has been deeply offensive and hurtful to the Jewish community.”
Sheeran said Tuesday that removing Macklemore was not his decision. He said promoters and venues made the final call after some stadium operators indicated they would not host upcoming concerts if Macklemore remained on the lineup.
“Macklemore coming off tour was the promoter’s decision, it was not mine,” Sheeran wrote. “I would never let down the fans who had made plans, nor would I abandon the touring crew and the other support acts and musicians who rely on me for work and to make a living.”

Dave Chappelle has announced a seven-date arena tour scheduled for October and November, concluding with a performance at Madison Square Garden.
The run begins October 20 at Bridgestone Arena in Nashville, Tennessee. Chappelle will then visit Charlotte, Toronto, Louisville, Austin and Houston before closing the tour November 6 in New York City.
The Madison Square Garden performance will serve as the opening-night event for the 22nd annual New York Comedy Festival. The festival is scheduled to bring 10 days of comedy programming to venues across the city from November 6 through November 15.

Big Tigger, real name Darian Morgan, was arrested in June and charged with aggravated assault and third-degree cruelty to children. But the charges didn’t stick after his estranged wife, Alicia Brown was herself arrested amid Maryland’s ongoing investigation into the disappearance of her now 17-year-old daughter, who was reported missing at age 10.
Last week, Tigger shared a video thanking everyone who stood by him and vowing to keep a list of those who turned their backs on hm in his darkest hour.
Over the weekend, he wrote an emotional post about his ordeal.
“It’s been one of the most difficult times for my family and I, but happily I can finally exhale and close this chapter,” he wrote. “As I continue to work through everything that has happened over the past few months, my full attention from this point forward will be focused on raising my son in a positive, loving environment, and my work on and off air.”
He concluded: “See ya Monday.”
Tigger was joined on the air by his co-host Francesca Amiker, who filed a defamation lawsuit against Brown.
The lawsuit accused Brown of making defamatory statements about her alleged romantic relationship with Tigger.

American Idol will move production out of Los Angeles to the Atlanta for the upcoming season, which is set to premiere in early 2027, Fremantle, which produces the show with Sony Pictures Television-backed 19 Entertainment, confirmed to Deadline.
Fremantle is in final talks with a studio complex in Georgia, but no official deal has been signed yet.
American Idol joins a growing slate of productions leaving California, where it has become increasingly expensive to shoot.
It was also recently reported that Fox’s The Masked Singer production has also moved out of California and the upcoming 15th season will instead film in New Jersey.
Georgia has become its own production hub in recent years, as Atlanta in particular is now one of the main filming locations outside of Los Angeles and New York in the United States.
Marvel projects including Captain America: Brave New World and WandaVision both filmed in Atlanta, along with Fox’s The 1% Club.
Georgia also offers an up to 30% tax credit for unscripted and reality television that spend up to $500,000 in the state, per The Wrap.

Whoopi Goldberg Shares Frustrations About Sister Act 3 Delays: ‘I’m Getting Old!’
Whoopi Goldberg is ready to get back in the habit again. She’s just getting tired of waiting.
The EGOT winner has spent years trying to get Sister Act 3 off the ground. And as the project remains in production limbo, Goldberg admits to PEOPLE she’s not necessarily “Joyful, Joyful” about the long road the return has taken.
“This is like seven, eight years now going on,” Goldberg, 70, says, when asked about the status of the film in an interview on Tuesday, Sept. 8, after the season 30 premiere of The View.
Is she as frustrated by the delays as fans are? “Yes, yes!” the actress and comedian says. “Oh my God!”
“I don’t think they really understand the relationship people have to Sister Act because everybody grew up with it,” she adds. “So, I think they’ll let us do it. I just hope it’s sooner rather than later because I’m getting old!”
The original Sister Act hit theaters in 1992, starring Goldberg as Deloris Van Cartier, a Reno lounge singer forced into witness protection after witnessing a murder committed by her gangster boyfriend. Hidden in a San Francisco convent as Sister Mary Clarence, Deloris initially clashes with its strict Reverend Mother (Maggie Smith) before transforming the convent’s struggling choir and teaching Sister Mary Patrick (Kathy Najimy) and Sister Mary Robert (Wendy Makkena) to raise their voice.
A hit with critics and audiences alike, the Disney’s Touchstone Pictures film went on to earn $232 million worldwide.
Goldberg returned as Deloris the following year for Sister Act 2: Back in the Habit, which saw her reunite with the sisters to help save a troubled Catholic school through its music program. Smith, Najimy, Makkena and Mary Wickes (Sister Mary Lazarus) returned, while Lauryn Hill, Sheryl Lee Ralph and Jennifer Love Hewitt were among the sequel’s new additions.
The popularity of both films only grew over the decades thank to VHS rentals and television reruns. Decades later, that nostalgia drove plans for a third movie, though getting the film to the screen has proven difficult.
News first broke of the film in 2015, with The Hollywood Reporter announcing that Kirsten “Kiwi” Smith and Karen McCullah — the writers behind Legally Blonde, The House Bunny, She’s the Man, Ella Enchanted and 10 Things I Hate About You — were penning a third chapter in the franchise. But by 2018, Smith and McCullah were out, Deadline reporting that Regina Hicks and Karin Gist (Camp Rock, Camp Rock 2, Drumline: A New Beat) had now been hired.
Two years later, in December 2020, Disney announced that Goldberg had officially signed on to return for a third film. The movie, which she would produce alongside Tyler Perry, would debut on Disney+, the company said.
From there, momentum on the project appeared to slow. Goldberg would offer periodic updates on The View, even inviting original star Jenifer Lewis and Ralph — who played Hill’s character’s stern mother in the sequel — to join her for the film.
Keke Palmer shot her shot to be a part of the film, too, telling Goldberg during a 2021 visit to the ABC daytime series, “I just want you to know I’m available to the job. Just let me know!”
But even with Palmer’s interest, the project never progressed further. When Goldberg spoke to PEOPLE about the project in March 2024, she insisted it was “still on the way” and “percolating,” revealing at the time that work was still underway on the script.
Perry had expressed his own impatience with the process one month earlier, telling Entertainment Tonight that he was “a little annoyed” by the pace development was taking. “It’s taking so long — like, I’ve done four movies since we started talking about this,” he said.
Disney has done about four reboots, too, Goldberg jokes to PEOPLE, referencing (without naming) legacy sequels like Hocus Pocus 2, Freakier Friday and Camp Rock 3. They’re even at work on The Princess Diaries 3, with Anne Hathaway returning as Mia Thermopolis.
“They’ve been doing these other projects first,” Goldberg says. “And I think we’ve been sort of on the backburner. So I do think if people were to remind them and say they missed the movie — I don’t know if that would be helpful, but of course it could be.”
Another setback involved Smith, who died in September 2024 at age 89. Goldberg tells PEOPLE the project had, at one point, gotten far enough along that her late costar had verbally agreed to return to the franchise.
“When we thought we had it the first time, she was waiting for the completed script,” she says. “Then people started saying, ‘Well, we want to change this for this,’ and then it got mired, as movies do.”
“You think you got it and then they’re like, ‘No, not quite,’ ” Goldberg laughs.
Despite the years of setbacks and the loss of one of the franchise’s most beloved stars, Goldberg isn’t giving up on Deloris just yet.
“It’s been a process,” she tells PEOPLE. “But I’m cautiously optimistic that we may see movement.”
And if that movement finally comes, Goldberg knows exactly what she wants to do.
“I want to put those boots on,” she says. “I want to put that hair on! I want to put on my habit! I am ready.”
Kennedy Center Closes Hours After Judge Blocks Trump Name And Plaza Renaming
The Washington Post reported Tuesday that the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts closed its main building to the public after its board voted to shut the venue immediately for renovations. The Kennedy Center closure unfolded just hours after a federal judge rejected another effort to place Donald Trump’s name on the building, creating a fast-moving mix of safety concerns, financial warnings and an escalating court dispute over the future of one of Washington’s best-known cultural institutions.
According to Reuters, the board voted September 15 to close the main building for what has been described as a renovation project costing roughly $257 million and potentially lasting as long as two years. Trump serves as chairman of the Kennedy Center board. Reuters reported that the vote came less than two hours after U.S. District Judge Christopher Cooper issued another order blocking efforts to put Trump’s name on the building or rename its grounds in his honor.
According to CBS News, Cooper ruled that the board could not move forward with a proposed inscription crediting Trump for restoring the Kennedy Center. The judge wrote, “Defendants cannot install memorials for President Trump or anyone or anything else at the Kennedy Center without Congress’s blessing.” The decision followed Cooper’s May ruling that the earlier addition of Trump’s name to the Kennedy Center was unlawful. Trump’s name was subsequently removed from the facade in June.
The board returned to the issue on August 13, approving a proposal for a new inscription honoring Trump and a separate plan to rename the surrounding campus the “President Donald J. Trump Plaza.” Cooper’s September 15 order blocked both proposals. The latest ruling means the Kennedy Center closure is now unfolding separately from the board’s effort to recognize Trump on the building, even though Trump has directly connected the renovation project to the outcome of the naming dispute.
Safety concerns are another major part of the board’s case for closing the main building. A draft resolution published by The Washington Post said additional water intrusion and deterioration had contributed to a partial ceiling collapse in the Grand Foyer, with debris falling from roughly 60 feet above. The resolution called for the building to close to patrons while repair and restoration work moved forward. However, attorneys for Rep. Joyce Beatty, an Ohio Democrat and ex officio Kennedy Center trustee who is challenging the board in court, have disputed how the safety evidence has been characterized. The Los Angeles Times reported that Beatty’s lawyers said consulting firm Delta Consulting Group had not concluded that the building was unsafe for continued occupancy.
The Kennedy Center closure also does not mean every program connected to the institution is ending. The board’s draft resolution said the main building would close to patrons, while educational and artistic programming could continue at the REACH. It also called for continued support of National Symphony Orchestra performances at other venues and for signature events, including the Kennedy Center Honors and Mark Twain Prize for American Humor, to continue off-site.
Trump addressed the shutdown and the naming dispute in a Truth Social post earlier Tuesday.
“The Board of The Kennedy Center today agreed, almost unanimously, to close the Building for Safety reasons, and so that it can begin the process of Reconstruction. The closing will take place immediately, however, the Renovation and Reconstruction, which is a very large and complex job, cannot begin until such time as the D.C. Circuit rules on the Board’s approved name. If the ruling is a negative one, which it should not be, and is not overturned by the U.S. Supreme Court, the Reconstruction and the Renovation of The Kennedy Center will not take place. The EGOT winner has spent years trying to get Sister Act 3 off the ground. And as the project remains in production limbo, Goldberg admits to PEOPLE she’s not necessarily “Joyful, Joyful” about the long road the return has taken.
“This is like seven, eight years now going on,” Goldberg, 70, says, when asked about the status of the film in an interview on Tuesday, Sept. 8, after the season 30 premiere of The View.
Is she as frustrated by the delays as fans are? “Yes, yes!” the actress and comedian says. “Oh my God!”
“I don’t think they really understand the relationship people have to Sister Act because everybody grew up with it,” she adds. “So, I think they’ll let us do it. I just hope it’s sooner rather than later because I’m getting old!”
The original Sister Act hit theaters in 1992, starring Goldberg as Deloris Van Cartier, a Reno lounge singer forced into witness protection after witnessing a murder committed by her gangster boyfriend. Hidden in a San Francisco convent as Sister Mary Clarence, Deloris initially clashes with its strict Reverend Mother (Maggie Smith) before transforming the convent’s struggling choir and teaching Sister Mary Patrick (Kathy Najimy) and Sister Mary Robert (Wendy Makkena) to raise their voice.
A hit with critics and audiences alike, the Disney’s Touchstone Pictures film went on to earn $232 million worldwide.
Goldberg returned as Deloris the following year for Sister Act 2: Back in the Habit, which saw her reunite with the sisters to help save a troubled Catholic school through its music program. Smith, Najimy, Makkena and Mary Wickes (Sister Mary Lazarus) returned, while Lauryn Hill, Sheryl Lee Ralph and Jennifer Love Hewitt were among the sequel’s new additions.
The popularity of both films only grew over the decades thank to VHS rentals and television reruns. Decades later, that nostalgia drove plans for a third movie, though getting the film to the screen has proven difficult.
News first broke of the film in 2015, with The Hollywood Reporter announcing that Kirsten “Kiwi” Smith and Karen McCullah — the writers behind Legally Blonde, The House Bunny, She’s the Man, Ella Enchanted and 10 Things I Hate About You — were penning a third chapter in the franchise. But by 2018, Smith and McCullah were out, Deadline reporting that Regina Hicks and Karin Gist (Camp Rock, Camp Rock 2, Drumline: A New Beat) had now been hired.
Two years later, in December 2020, Disney announced that Goldberg had officially signed on to return for a third film. The movie, which she would produce alongside Tyler Perry, would debut on Disney+, the company said.
From there, momentum on the project appeared to slow. Goldberg would offer periodic updates on The View, even inviting original star Jenifer Lewis and Ralph — who played Hill’s character’s stern mother in the sequel — to join her for the film.
Keke Palmer shot her shot to be a part of the film, too, telling Goldberg during a 2021 visit to the ABC daytime series, “I just want you to know I’m available to the job. Just let me know!”
But even with Palmer’s interest, the project never progressed further. When Goldberg spoke to PEOPLE about the project in March 2024, she insisted it was “still on the way” and “percolating,” revealing at the time that work was still underway on the script.
Perry had expressed his own impatience with the process one month earlier, telling Entertainment Tonight that he was “a little annoyed” by the pace development was taking. “It’s taking so long — like, I’ve done four movies since we started talking about this,” he said.
Disney has done about four reboots, too, Goldberg jokes to PEOPLE, referencing (without naming) legacy sequels like Hocus Pocus 2, Freakier Friday and Camp Rock 3. They’re even at work on The Princess Diaries 3, with Anne Hathaway returning as Mia Thermopolis.
“They’ve been doing these other projects first,” Goldberg says. “And I think we’ve been sort of on the backburner. So I do think if people were to remind them and say they missed the movie — I don’t know if that would be helpful, but of course it could be.”
Another setback involved Smith, who died in September 2024 at age 89. Goldberg tells PEOPLE the project had, at one point, gotten far enough along that her late costar had verbally agreed to return to the franchise.
“When we thought we had it the first time, she was waiting for the completed script,” she says. “Then people started saying, ‘Well, we want to change this for this,’ and then it got mired, as movies do.”
“You think you got it and then they’re like, ‘No, not quite,’ ” Goldberg laughs.
Despite the years of setbacks and the loss of one of the franchise’s most beloved stars, Goldberg isn’t giving up on Deloris just yet.
“It’s been a process,” she tells PEOPLE. “But I’m cautiously optimistic that we may see movement.”
And if that movement finally comes, Goldberg knows exactly what she wants to do.
“I want to put those boots on,” she says. “I want to put that hair on! I want to put on my habit! I am ready.”
