HipHopNews: Tory Lanez Claims His Ex-Lawyer Sabotaged His Defense At Roc Nation’s Request
Tory Lanez accused his former lawyer Shawn Holley of intentionally hindering his defense in the Megan Thee Stallion shooting case. According to court documents obtained by TMZ, Lanez filed an ethics complaint claiming Holley never had his best interest in mind due to her alleged ties to Roc Nation.
Lanez, whose real name is Daystar Peterson, said acted on Roc Nation’s orders to try to get him to accept a plea deal. He pointed to the Hulu series Reasonable Doubt, which is loosely based on Holley’s life, as the source of her alleged conflict of interest. The show featured Megan’s “Savage” remix and a song by Holley’s daughter, who sang backup for Beyoncé. Holley scoffed at Lanez’s allegations.
“Mr. Peterson brought these meritless claims to the State Bar over a year ago and they were summarily rejected and the matter was promptly closed,” Holley told TMZ. “His actions to publicize this failed effort are likely tied to the appeal of his criminal conviction, for which I wish him well.”
Lanez was convicted of assault with a semiautomatic firearm, having a loaded unregistered firearm in a vehicle and discharging a firearm with gross negligence in 2022. Holley told him she was “not comfortable” with his defense strategy, which sought to blame Kelsey Harris for shooting Megan in the foot.
A judge sentenced Lanez to 10 years in prison in 2023. Lanez appealed his conviction. His current legal team filed a writ of habeas corpus petition on October 23.
“It is more than an abstract possibility that the jury could have been swayed by positive DNA test results showing Ms. Harris’s DNA contributed to one of the four profiles recovered from the magazine and firearm,” Lanez’s lawyers argued. “If the people had made such evidence available to the jury or the defense, it is reasonable to conclude that a rational trier of fact would have found the requisite reasonable doubt as to whether Mr. Peterson had fired the weapon. When looking at the sum total of the circumstances of Petitioner Peterson’s trial, it is clear that a miscarriage of justice has occurred.”
Lanez remains in custody in California.
CNN Panelist Pulled From ‘NewsNight' After Making "Lowest Of The Lowest" Verbal Attack On Mehdi Hasan
CNN pulled a panelist off of NewsNight with Abby Phillip this evening after he made a swipe at Mehdi Hasan, suggesting that he was aligned with terrorists.
Ryan James Girdusky, a writer and commentator, was having an argument with Hasan over the rhetoric used at Donald Trump’s rally on Sunday evening at Madison Square Garden.
Hasan said that “if you don’t want to be called Nazis, stop doing, stop saying,” but he was interrupted by Girdusky. He noted that Hasan was called an “anti-Semite more than anyone at this table.”
“By you,” Hasan said.
Then, Girdusky denied that he had called him that.
“I am in support of the Palestinians, so I am used to it,” Hasan said.
“I hope your beeper doesn’t go off,” Girdusky replied. That was a reference to a Hamas terrorist.
“Did you guest just say I should be killed on live TV?” Hasan asked Phillip.
Phillip told Girdusky, “That is completely out of pocket. You know that.”
“I apologize,” Girdusky said.
After a commercial break, Phillip apologized to Hasan and noted that Girdusky was no longer at the table.
“There is a line that was crossed there, and it’s not acceptable to me,” Phillip said. “It’s not acceptable to us at this network. We want discussion. We want people who disagree with each other to talk to each other. But when you cross the line of a complete lack of civility, that is not going to happen here on this show. It’s a heated time. We’re in the middle of a political season. We are eight days from a presidential election, but we can have conversations about what is happening in this country without resorting to the lowest of the lowest kind of discourse. I want to address that and I want to apologize to the viewers at home, because we want to be able to hear each other, we want to be able to talk to each other.”
Hasan was an anchor for MSNBC his departure earlier this year. He then started his own media company, Zeteo.
Diddy Accused Of Drugging & Raping 10-Year-Old Boy
Attorney Tony Buzbee sued Sean “Diddy” Combs once again, this time for sexually assaulting a 10-year-old boy. The lawsuit claimed Diddy drugged and raped the child during an “audition” in 2005.
The plaintiff, identified as John Doe, was an aspiring rapper. His family hired a consultant to help him break into the entertainment industry. The consultant arranged a meeting with Diddy, who allegedly requested to meet with the boy alone.
John Doe performed for Diddy at a hotel in New York. Diddy told the child he could “make him a star” and asked “how badly” the boy wanted it. The plaintiff said he’d “do anything.” The alleged victim was given a soda believed to be laced with drugs.
“After plaintiff consumed his soda and began feeling its effects, Combs told plaintiff to move closer to him, which plaintiff did,” the lawsuit read. “Combs then abruptly pushed plaintiff down and said words to the effect of, ‘You have to do some stuff you don’t want to do sometimes.’ Once plaintiff had pushed plaintiff down, Combs pulled his penis out of his pants and told the 10-year-old plaintiff to ‘kiss it.’ When plaintiff resisted, Combs nevertheless forced his penis into plaintiff’s mouth and proceeded to repeatedly push it in and out.”
John Doe said he lost consciousness. The plaintiff woke up with his pants undone.
“His a### and buttocks hurt badly,” the lawsuit noted.
The boy cried as he sought his parents. Diddy allegedly threatened to hurt the child’s parents if the victim told anyone what happened.
John Doe’s parents noticed he was “lethargic and acting differently.” They were “terrified” to report the abuse after their son told them what occurred.
Buzbee is representing more than 150 people accusing Diddy of sexual assault. John Doe is one of multiple plaintiffs who were minors at the time of the abuse. Diddy’s lawyers denied the allegations.
“Mr. Combs and his legal team have full confidence in the facts, their legal defenses, and the integrity of the judicial process,” they said. “In court, the truth will prevail: that Mr. Combs has never sexually assaulted anyone – adult or minor, man or woman.”
Diddy is currently in custody on racketeering conspiracy, sex trafficking and transportation to engage in prostitution charges. His trial is scheduled to start in May 2025.
Chad “Ocho Cinco” Johnson And Sharelle Rosado Have Broken Up: “He Is A Free Man Ladies”
Chad “Ocho Cinco” Johnson and his fiancée, Sharelle Rosado, have split according to a X post on Saturday (Oct. 26).
The Selling Tampa star made the announcement that they are “no longer together,” and asked fans to stop “tagging” them in photos.
“Chad and I are no longer together please stop tagging us,” the real estate broker wrote. “He is a free man ladies.”
At the time, Johnson reposted Rosado’s statement online with a GIF from Arrested Development that showed the character George Michael (played by Michael Cera) walking with his head hanging low.
The realtor and the former NFL star got engaged in early 2023 after welcoming a 2-year-old daughter, Serenity, in January 2022.
“This was absolutely beautiful and to see my family and friends here to celebrate our love, that really did it for me,” Rosado told PEOPLE at the time. “He is definitely not a planner, so for him to pull this off for me is so amazing. Just the thought he put into this and having our family and friends here to witness says a lot.”
She added that their engagement was, “the next step of our beautiful journey together,” and the confirmation made her “so emotional” because when they “first started dating, he used to always tell me, ‘I’m going to make you my wife.'”
The couple went Instagram official in Nov. 2020 as Johnson posted the two of them with the caption: “The Jags may have lost the game today but my baby is leaving a Winner [heart emoji].”

Over 200k People Cancel Washington Post Subscription After Jeff Bezos Blocked Outlet’s Kamala Endorsement
Jeff Bezos' decision to block The Washington Post from endorsing Vice President Kamala Harris has not only cost the paper its reputation—it’s also costing it financially.
The paper has seen more than 200,000 subscribers cancel their subscription since Friday‘s shock decision to end presidential endorsements, according to NPR. The cancellations represent roughly 8 percent of the paper’s 2.5 million paying customers, an outsized percentage for a paper that lost $77 million last year and was forced into multiple rounds of layoffs and buyouts.
A #BoycottWaPo hashtag circulated on social media over the weekend as legions of people opted to end their subscriptions over the news. Multiple Post columnists and journalists, many of whom publicly disagreed with Bezos' decision, urged readers in posts and columns not to punish the journalism for its billionaire steward’s controversial decision.
“Boycotting the newspaper won’t hurt Bezos, whose fortune comes not from Post subscribers but from Amazon Prime members and Whole Foods shoppers,” columnist Dana Milbank wrote on Sunday. “His ownership and subsidization of The Post is just pocket change to him.”
Milbank added: “But boycotting The Post will hurt my colleagues and me. We lost $77 million last year, which required a(nother) round of staff cuts through buyouts. The more cancellations there are, the more jobs will be lost, and the less good journalism there will be."
The hefty total came hours after editorial board members Molly Roberts and David Hoffman stepped down from their posts over the decision, condemning the paper in their respective letters for abdicating its responsibility to democracy. The two will remain at the paper.
“I’m resigning from The Post editorial board because the imperative to endorse Kamala Harris over Donald Trump is about as morally clear as it gets,” Roberts wrote. “Worse, our silence is exactly what Donald Trump wants: for the media, for us, to keep quiet.”
Hoffman concurred, writing to opinions editor David Shipley that he found it “untenable and unconscionable that we have lost our voice at this perilous moment.”
“I stand against silence in the face of dictatorship,” he wrote, according to Semafor. “Here, there, everywhere.”
The exits followed those of editor-at-large Robert Kagan and columnist Michele Norris, who resigned from the paper entirely over the decision. Post publisher Will Lewis said on Friday the paper would end its nearly 50-year tradition of endorsing presidential candidates, a decision decreed by Bezos.
Lupita Nyong’o Says Losing Kenyan Accent For Hollywood Acting Career ‘Felt Like Betrayal’
Kenyan-Mexican actress Lupita Nyong’o is opening up about what she had to do to become a household name.
During a newly released podcast interview with Trevor Noah, Lupita Nyong’o candidly revealed the self-betrayal she felt when ditching her Kenyan Accent for Hollywood acting roles.
“The first permission I gave myself to change my accent or allow my accent to transform was going to drama school. I went to drama school because I didn’t want to just be an instinctive actor. I wanted to understand my instrument. I wanted to know what I was good at, what I was not good at, and work on the things that I wasn’t good at. And one of the things I wasn’t good at was accents. The process of deciding, ‘OK, I’m going to start working on my American accent and I’m not going to allow myself to sound Kenyan,’ so that I’m like monitoring and really trying to understand my mouth in a technical way to like make these new sounds. Making those new sounds in a context that wasn’t the classroom felt like betrayal. You know, I didn’t feel like myself and I cried many nights to sleep…many, many nights.”
Lupita’s first big break came with 2013’s “12 Years a Slave.” She walked away with an Academy Award for her performance in the biographical drama film and has starred in many more box-office hits since. Most recently, she appeared in Paramount’s “A Quiet Place: Day One,” which grossed $261 million worldwide.
Gisele Bündchen and Boyfriend Joaquim Valente Are Expecting Their First Child Together After 1 Year of Dating
Congratulations are in order: Gisele Bündchen is pregnant. A source connected to the 44-year-old model confirmed to People on Monday that she is expecting a child with boyfriend Joaquim Valente, 35.
"Gisele and Joaquim are happy for this new chapter in their life and they're looking forward to creating a peaceful and loving environment for the whole family," the source said in a statement to the magazine.
Valente, who is Bündchen's Jiu-Jitsu instructor, has been romantically linked to her since June 2023.

Shawn Mendes Gets Honest About His Sexuality, Says He's Still Figuring It Out
Shawn Mendes is becoming more open and honest about his sexuality than he’s ever been during his career.
The 26-year-old singer spoke candidly with the audience during his For Friends and Family Tour concert on Monday (October 28) at Red Rocks Amphitheatre in Colorado.
Shawn sings about his sexuality on his new song “The Mountain” and he made honest comments about his feelings while introducing the song at the show.
“I was really young when I started. I was 15 years old,” Shawn said. “The truth is that I didn’t get to do a lot of 15-year-old things and discover parts of myself that you do at 15.”
“Since I was really young, there’s this thing about my sexuality, and people have been talking about it so long. I think it’s kind of silly, because I think sexuality is such a beautifully complex thing, and it’s so hard to just put into boxes,” he continued.
“It always felt like such an intrusion on something very personal to me. Something that I was figuring out in myself, something that I had yet to discover and still have yet to discover it,” Shawn said. “Writing the song felt really important to me because it felt like a moment where I could address it in a way that felt close to my heart. And I guess I’m just speaking freely now, because I just want to be able to be closer to everyone and just kind of be in my truth.”
Shawn added, “The real truth about my life and my sexuality is that, man, I’m just figuring it out like everyone. And I don’t really know sometimes and I know other times. And it feels really scary because we live in a society that has a lot to say about that. And I’m trying to be really brave and just allow myself to be a human and feel things. And that’s all I really want to say about that for now.”
Taye Diggs Reflects On Experience Judging ‘Second Chance Stage’: ‘Live Life As You Are Experiencing It’
Taye Diggs is embracing second chances in his newest gig as a judge.
The actor, who's known for his many roles in musicals, dramas, and comedies, is now helping people who had to put their dreams on hold to have their time to shine. The role as a judge is something that Diggs said was "life altering" for him.
Diggs, a well-known actor with a resume a mile long that includes TV, movies, musicals, writing, and voiceovers, was excited to embark on the journey of being a judge on a new show.
"I am excited about becoming a judge on the upcoming show 'Second Chance Stage,' which highlights incredible performers who had to put their dreams on hold and gives them another chance to pursue these dreams," Diggs told The Blast exclusively. "The experience of filming this was eye-opening, emotional, and truly life-altering."
For Diggs, the experience helped him to "appreciate" all he has pursued in his own career.
"The experience of filming this was eye-opening, emotional, and truly life-altering," he said. "It was an honor to get to watch these performers have the courage to try again, to hope and work for opportunities that sometimes seem impossible to get, and it really made me appreciate the opportunities I have pursued in my career as well."
When asked what advice Diggs would give an aspiring actor or performer who's just starting out in the industry, he referred back to the new show.
"Riffing off the title of the upcoming show I judge on, 'Second Chance Stage,' I would actually encourage aspiring actors to forget the notion of first or second chances, but rather to take benchmarks out of the equation, and just live life as you are experiencing it, with no judgment, or beating yourself up or believing that you failed," he told The Blast.
"With this reframing, you are free to be yourself and enjoy the art that you are a part of, with all the ups and down, and a welcomed part of the process."

Gerard Depardieu Sexual Assault Trial Postponed to March 2025
Gerard Depardieu’s sexual assault trial has been delayed until March 2025, French news agency AFP reports.
Earlier on Monday, Depardieu had asked for a postponement as he was no longer able to appear in court due to health reasons. His trial was scheduled to begin at 1:30 p.m. Paris time on Monday.
According to the AFP, Depardieu’s lawyer Jeremie Assous told FranceInfo that the actor is “extremely affected and unfortunately his doctors have forbidden him from being present at the hearing.”
Depardieu’s lawyer did not immediately respond to Variety‘s request for further comment.
Depardieu is being tried on two alleged sexual assaults, which date back to the filming of Jean Becker’s “The Green Shutters” (“Les volets verts”) in the South of France in August and September 2021. He was taken into police custody earlier this year on April 29 and was summoned to appear before the criminal court on Monday. Based on the charges, Depardieu — long considered a mascot of France’s cinematic history who has starred in over 150 films, including classics such as Jean-Paul Rappeneau’s “Cyrano de Bergerac” — risks five years of imprisonment and a fine of €75,000.
In a letter sent to the prosecutor on Feb. 23, Amelie K., who worked as a set decorator on “The Green Shutters,” accused Depardieu of having sexually assaulted and harassed her on Sept. 10, 2021, during filming. Amelie K said she overheard Depardieu make several crude comments, and alleges that one day, as she walked past him sitting in a corridor, he grabbed her, pulled her toward him, blocked her with his legs and kneaded her on the waist, hips and chest, while making obscene comments.
She added that she was helped by two colleagues while Depardieu left the scene accompanied by his bodyguards. After reporting the incident to the production manager, Depardieu was asked to apologize to her but instead made unfriendly remarks about her during the rest of the shoot.
“The plaintiff explained that it had taken her some time to decide to lodge a complaint, but that she had been shocked to hear on television that there had never been any incident during the filming. She added that she was not the only one to have been sexually assaulted,” said a spokesperson for the Paris Prosecutor’s Office in a statement obtained by Variety.
A second woman, Engela W., who was working as Becker’s assistant on “The Green Shutters,” accused Depardieu of sexually assaulting her on Aug. 31. She lodged a complaint on March 21 of this year and reported that Depardieu had touched her buttocks in the street, then touched her breasts a few days later on location and touched her buttocks again on another occasion. Having expressed her refusal to be touched, she added that Depardieu had started being insulting toward her. She reported the incident to her family the same day.
Variety has contacted Depardieu’s attorney, Jérémie Assous, for comment on the trial’s outcome. Depardieu has previously denied all charges. In a statement sent to Variety ahead of the trial, Assous said, “the witnesses and evidence he will present will demonstrate that he is merely the target of false accusations.” Assous also claimed that the “true intent has just been revealed through the civil parties’ compensation demands: to gain financially, ranging from €6,000 to €30,000.”
As part of a separate case, the 75-year-old famous French actor has been, since Dec. 16, 2020, indicted over allegations of rape and sexual assault filed by actress Charlotte Arnould in 2018.
In August, the Paris public prosecutor’s office requested in a final indictment that Depardieu be referred to the departmental criminal court to stand trial for rape by digital penetration and sexual assault that allegedly occurred on Aug. 7 and 13, 2018. The examining magistrate now has to decide what direction to give to the proceedings.
Another sexual assault complaint filed last year by actor Helene Darras, who accused Depardieu of groping and propositioning her during a 2007 film shoot, has since been dropped for being past the statute of limitations.
In April of last year, 13 women accused the actor of sexually inappropriate behavior in a report published by French investigative news website Médiapart. Depardieu vehemently denied all the accusations, and in October penned a letter for the newspaper Le Figaro in which he stated, “Never ever have I abused a woman.”
Having triggered a watershed moment for the #MeToo movement in France, Depardieu, who up until 2022 was still lining up roles, has seen his career come to a near end. In the last couple years, he appears to have only acted in a small Italian horror film called “Twins,” which is in post-production.

Funk Flex Claims Shyne Was Responsible For 1999 Club Shooting, Wanted To “Spit” In His Face For “Lying” On Diddy
Funk Flex has branded Jamal “Shyne” Barrow a “liar” after the former rapper recently claimed he was “the fall guy” in the infamous Manhattan club shooting that landed him a 10-year prison sentence.
In the wake of the release of the official trailer to The Honorable Shyne, a forthcoming documentary chronicling Shyne’s rap and political career, Funk Flex addressed Shyne’s assertion that he was not responsible for the 1999 shooting incident at Club New York.
In the clip, the Belizean emcee seemingly suggests that it was Sean “Diddy” Combs, his former CEO at Bad Boy Records, who fired the shots that injured multiple club patrons on that night.
However, according to Funk Flex, Shyne’s recollection of his involvement in the shooting is in stark contrast to the actual events that took place, as the DJ alleges that Shyne was the gunman in the incident, not Combs.
“When somebody tries to say they the scapegoat or they was used… it’s been bothering me,” Flex said while on New York radio station Hot 97. “And I’m gonna keep it a buck. Shyne, I love you bro, and I know what you’ve been though—no I don’t—but you’re a liar. You’re a stone-cold faced liar, Shyne.”
The Bronx native continued, mentioning a physical encounter between Shyne and Damion “D-Roc” Butler, close friend of late rap legend The Notorious B.I.G., due to his growing ego after joining Bad Boy.
“First of all, you remember when D-Roc had to beat you up in that studio ’cause you were feeling yourself? You lucky you signed to Bad Boy ’cause if you did not sign to Bad Boy and you signed to Def Jam or anywhere else they were gonna pound you out like the day they beat you up at that studio.”
Funk Flex, who deemed Shyne as a “sucker,” also claims that it was Combs who stepped in to shield Shyne from his foes in the industry and the streets, questioning the former hitmaker’s supposed reputation for being feared by others during that period.
“Let me tell you about that night in that club,” Flex said, as he continued to lash out at Shyne. “I don’t know what people are talking about Shyne was the streets. He was a punk. So all of that street talk. You don’t ever come my way with that. Puff had to keep people off of you from beating you to death. Had to keep D-Roc from strangling you, Shyne.”
According to Funk Flex, the events that lead to the club shooting stemmed from Shyne’s involvement with Matthew “Scar” Allen, a convicted drug dealer from Brooklyn who passed away in 2011, and his crew regarding a monetary debt. The DJ alleges that it was Shyne who fired his gun in the club out of fear of his alleged foes’ presence in the venue.
“Let me tell you something, New York, about Shyne that night in that club. He knew exactly who those guys were that he got into a situation. It was his situation, not anybody else’s. This ain’t about Puff, It’s about the Notorious B.I.G. and you sounding like him and you trying to act like you were in demand and you was somebody. You a punk, and you shot that gun off that night because you was scared.”
Funk Flex also admonished those who appeared in The Honorable Shyne trailer who had previously expressed their displeasure with Shyne regarding the shooting incident and his actions thereafter, but appear to have tempered their animosity towards the East Flatbush rep.
“If none of you veterans are gonna check this bozo, I’m gonna check him,” said Flex. “I saw that trailer to Shyne’s documentary, and everybody sitting in it wanted to spit in Shyne’s face. I don’t care what friends I lose tonight, everybody sitting in that doc wanted to spit in your face, Shyne. I wanted to spit in your face.”
He continued, crediting Combs with securing Shyne the radio airplay that launched his rise to stardom.
“Puff had to beg me to play them records. Nobody was rocking with you. Sounding like Biggie, just died. You thought you were gonna step out here in these streets, and nobody was gonna check you. I’m gonna check you, man.”
During the rant, Funk Flex pointed out that Shyne and Combs had made amends following his release, both publicly and privately. He also highlighted that Shyne was in attendance when Combs received the key to New York City from NYC Mayor Eric Adams, which has since been rescinded in light of Combs’ ongoing legal issues.
The Honorable Shyne will premiere Nov. 18 on Hulu. The film is directed by Marcus A. Clarke; produced by Jason Perez; executive produced by Dwayne Bray, Talitha Watkins, Jason Aidoo, Carolina Groppa, Angela Augustus, James Shani, Ameer Collier and Steve Carless; and co-executive produced by David Dennis, Jr. and Justin Tinsley.

Solange Opens Up About Battling ‘Debilitating Symptoms of POTS’
Solange Knowles has opened up about her struggles with postural orthostatic tachycardia syndrome (POTS), which Johns Hopkins describes as “a blood circulation disorder that causes heart rate to increase and symptoms to worsen when standing upright.”
Knowles, 38, wrote about her experience with POTS in the comments section of 33-year-old musician Shaun Rosss’ Instagram post about his POTS diagnosis which he said developed as a result of long COVID. “Sending u so much love and strength Shaun and to all in the comments struggling with the debilitating, confusing, and lonely symptoms of POTS,” Knowles wrote.
According to US Magazine, Knowles also revealed she was previously diagnosed with Sjögren’s syndrome and mast cell activation syndrome (MCAS), noting that she can “really relate to not wanting your health to be your identity.”
The superstar singer also gave a shout-out to Dysautonomia International, a nonprofit that “seeks to improve the lives of individuals living with autonomic nervous system disorders,” per its website.
“The good folks at @dysautonomiaintl were really an incredible resource for me and I feel really grateful for the spoonie community for holding me down during my times of complete uncertainty!” she wrote.
Ross responded to Knowles’ comment, saying, “Thank you so much Solange. You’ve known me since I was a teen and how energetic I can be. This definitely changed my entire outlook on so much [trying] to navigate this entirely. I appreciate you so much. Sending love ❤️.”
In the post’s comments, one person also shared their battle with POTS, writing, “Thank you for sharing. I recently got diagnosed with POTS in March and still struggling to control these debilitating symptoms. I’ve seen so many drs and the most I’ve gotten was some heart meds to get the heart rate down and yet that still doesn’t work. Any suggestions on what has helped you manage the symptoms?”
Another IG user added, “Sharing your story is going to help someone else who’s curious or struggling with those same symptoms 🖤 You’re making a difference.”

Amber Rose Walks Back Beyoncé Speech Theft Claims After Beyhive Swarms
Amber Rose appeared to accuse Beyoncé of stealing material from her speech after the Destiny Child’s singer addressed a crowd in support of Kamala Harris at a Texas rally. Rose, who has pledged her unwavering support to Donald Trump, claimed on social media that Beyoncé’s remarks on motherhood mirrored her own.
“She wanna be me so bad,” the proud Trumper wrote. “Literally took my whole speech.” She added an eye-rolling emoji in the post. After getting nearly 7,000 snarky replies, she later claimed she was only trolling.
Beyoncé, appearing with former Destiny’s Child member Kelly Rowland, took the stage on Friday (October 25) to offer her support for Harris, the current vice president.
“We are so happy to be standing here on this stage as proud Texas women supporting and celebrating the one and only Vice President Kamala Harris,” Beyoncé told a cheering crowd.
The singer, who shares three children with husband JAY-Z, spoke deeply about the future her children would inherit. The rally unfolded amid a pivotal moment in Texas, where Harris, the first female vice president, continues to garner support ahead of potential electoral challenges.
“I’m not standing here as a public figure tonight. I’m here as a mother who cares deeply about the world my children and all our children will grow up in, a world where we have the freedom to control our bodies,” she said.
In her speech, Beyoncé spoke passionately about the importance of women imagining a future with fewer restrictions.
“Imagine our daughters growing up seeing what’s possible with no ceilings, no limitations. We are at the precipice of an incredible shift, the brink of history,” she said.
Although the two women both addressed motherhood, the contexts and motivations behind their speeches seem rooted in very different political ideologies. Rose’s criticism quickly drew pushback from her followers, many of whom dismissed her claim.
Fans commented with responses like, “Amber Rose, we promise you more than anything that Beyoncé does NOT want to be you,” while others wrote, “If reaching were a person… Amber, please, not now.”

Corey Hawkins Joins Star Studded Cast of Chris Hemsworth, Halle Berry and Mark Ruffalo in ‘Crime 101’ Film Set at Amazon Studios
Corey Hawkins, best known for his acclaimed roles in The Piano Lesson and Straight Out of Compton, has joined the cast of the upcoming Amazon MGM Studios thriller Crime 101, written and directed by Bart Layton.
As initially reported by Deadline Hollywood, the film will feature a star-studded cast of Chris Hemsworth, Halle Berry, Mark Ruffalo, Barry Keoghan, and Monica Barbaro. However, plot details and specifics about each actor’s role remain under wraps.
The film will likely align with the storyline of Don Winslow’s novella Crime 101, which revolves around a tense cat-and-mouse pursuit. In the original story, a veteran jewel thief named Davis plots a final heist involving a valuable diamond, using the Pacific Coast Highway as his route before he plans to vanish. Meanwhile, LAPD Detective Lou Lubesnick is determined to bring him down.
As the headline suggests, the production team is stacked with talent: Joely Fether of RAW is set to executive produce, with producers including Hemsworth and his Wild State co-founder Ben Grayson, RAW founder Dimitri Doganis, Layton, and Working Title’s Tim Bevan and Eric Fellner. Shane Salerno of The Story Factory also joins the producing lineup.
As mentioned, Hawkins will soon appear in The Piano Lesson, an adaptation of August Wilson’s classic play, set to premiere in select theaters and on Netflix on Nov. 22. The cast of The Piano Lesson includes John David Washington, Daniel Deadwyler, Samuel L. Jackson, Ray Fisher, Erykah Badu, Michael Potts, and Skylar Aleece Smith, with direction by Malcolm Washington, who co-wrote the screenplay with Virgil Williams.

Matlock Renewed at CBS For a Season 2
CBS announced on Tuesday afternoon that its Matlock not-a-reboot starring Kathy Bates has been renewed, after just two airings.
Matlock debuted with a special Sunday sneak preview that delivered 7.7 million total viewers — CBS’ most-watched series launch not airing after a Super Bowl since April 2019 — and a 0.4 demo rating. TVLine readers gave the twisty premiere an average grade of “A-.”
Following a multi-week break, the series’ first regularly scheduled Thursday-at-9/8c episode retained 6.4 million viewers and put up the same 0.4 demo rating. Of all shows that aired that Thursday night, Matlock posted the second-largest audience, trailing only the premiere of CBS’ own Georgie & Mandy’s First Marriage.
“This reconceived Matlock was devised by Jennie Snyder Urman with a brilliant surprise plot twist,” notes CBS Entertainment president Amy Reisenbach, “and we knew we had something very special the moment we saw the first episode brought to life by the incredibly talented Kathy Bates. The audience reception and critical acclaim for it has been overwhelming. We can’t wait to get started on a second season.”
Matlock stars Emmy and Academy Award winner Bates as, the official synopsis told(/lied to) us, “Madeline ‘Matty’ Matlock, a brilliant septuagenarian who achieved success in her younger years and decides to rejoin the work force at a prestigious law firm where she uses her unassuming demeanor and wily tactics to win cases.”
Matty painted herself to law firm colleagues as the broke widow of a cheating husband, and caretaker for her late daughter’s brat of a son. But in truth — series premiere spoiler alert! — Matty’s real name is Madeleine Kingston; she is wealthy with a doting, alive husband and loving grandson; and she is out to infiltrate the Jacobson Moore law firm so as to find out who there was responsible for helping a Big Pharma client keep in the marketplace the opiates that her daughter Ellie died from.
Matlock‘s series regular cast also includes Skye P. Marshall (Good Sam), Jason Ritter (Parenthood), Leah Lewis (Nancy Drew) and David Del Rio (The Baker and the Beauty).

VP Kamala Harris Campaign Launches “Freedom Town” Fortnite Map to Engage Young Voters
With the 2024 U.S. presidential election just days away, Vice President Kamala Harris is taking an innovative approach to voter outreach by entering the world of Fortnite. Her campaign launched “Freedom Town, USA,” a custom map in Fortnite Creative designed around key themes of her campaign, including small business tax incentives and affordable housing. Players can access it using the code 733155366547, and popular Fortnite content creators like Jordan “Huskerss” Thomas and Khairi “Kdot” Harris are hosting livestreams on the map to boost visibility.
This Fortnite initiative is part of a larger Harris campaign strategy targeting young male voters through gaming platforms. Alongside “Freedom Town,” at least eight other Fortnite Creative maps, such as Drive City and Football Boxfights, have been infused with Harris-themed in-game signs, models, and audio cues that underscore campaign messages. One sound cue, activated by collecting an in-game item, even references her opponent Donald Trump with a quote: “they’re eating the dogs, eating the cats.”
Beyond Fortnite, the campaign has launched additional gaming outreach efforts. These include a recent Geeks & Nerds for Harris fundraiser, a Twitch stream featuring VP candidate Governor Tim Walz playing Madden NFL and Crazy Taxi with Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, and extensive ads across mobile games, sports betting apps, and YouTube.
