#MAGFAB: The Iconic Marla Gibbs for Essence Magazine's Black Women In Hollywood

Marla Gibbs has always been on the right side of history—from her role as Florence Johnston on the groundbreaking sitcom The Jeffersons to advocating for a Black woman to hold the highest office in the nation one day. “I hope to see a Black woman president in my lifetime,” says Gibbs, 93, reflecting on her desire for the world that future barrier-breakers like herself will live in. “We didn’t get it this time, but I think next time we might.
Gibbs’s dream for the Black girls who will follow her should come as no surprise. Black women have been a cornerstone of her career—both as inspirations and as allies on her acting journey, which began in the early 1970s. In fact, retracing the steps of the Black actresses who came before her gave Gibbs her first big break, in a community workshop at the Performing Arts Society of Los Angeles (PASLA). “There was a young lady named Ta-Tanisha, who starred in Room 222, whom we admired so much—and she went to that workshop,” Gibbs says. “So my daughter Angela and I wanted to go, because she went there. Angela is also an actress, and it turned out to be the best decision we could have made. We started at PASLA, and then we went to Mafundi Institute when PASLA was ending. And at Mafundi, we found out about Margaret Avery’s workshop and decided we wanted to try that, because they’d just won an award for Does a Tiger Wear a Necktie? We wanted to know if we were as good as they were.”
It was at that workshop that Gibbs met screenwriter and director Ted Lange and began acting in his plays. She’d later appear in his 1977 film Passing Throughand on the popular TV series The Love Boat, in which he starred. It was also at Mafundi that she found out about auditions for the Norman Lear TV show that would change her life.

At the time of the casting call, Gibbs was represented by Ernestine McClendon, an actress and comedian who was also the first Black theatrical agent in New York City—and one of the first talent agents to take on Black entertainers as clients. “While I was with her, she decided that her clients were not being seen the way they should be. So she wrote a letter to The Hollywood Reporter, complaining that her actors were treated like revolving doors, in and out, and never really considered,” Gibbs recalls. “After she wrote that letter, everybody wanted to see her people. So I went in for The Jeffersons and did an audition, and it was the first time they paid attention to me. I had been there a couple of times before, but it was like I wasn’t even in the room. But this time, they were paying attention. The casting agent had me try out twice. And then she took me over to the producers and said, ‘Do what you did in the office.’ So I did what I did in the office, and I had the job.”

Gibbs, who was 44 years old when she landed the role of Johnston, earned five Primetime Emmy Award nominations for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Comedy Series. She also won multiple NAACP Image Awards for her portrayal of George and Weezy’s wisecracking housekeeper. She played the role for 11 seasons of what became one of the longest-running sitcoms in history.

“Before The Jeffersons, you didn’t see Black people on TV that much. It was kind of rare. So just the idea that you were auditioning for something to be on television—the people that I grew up with were shocked.”

Gibbs has nothing but fond memories of her time on the show, especially because it was such a disruption to the status quo. “It was awesome, because we weren’t expecting it,” she says. “Before The Jeffersons, you didn’t see Black people on TV that much. It was kind of rare. So just the idea that you were auditioning for something to be on television—the people that I grew up with were shocked.” Musing on how the medium has evolved, she notes, “You cannot turn on the TV now without seeing a Black person. It’s impossible.”

And Gibbs is one of them. Her acting credits run up to the present day, with a role in the third season of the ABC police procedural Will Trent, which premiered in January. In recent years, she has also guest-starred on Scandal, This is Us, Black-ish, A Black Lady Sketch Show, Grey’s Anatomy and The Ms. Pat Show. In 2021, she received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. And two years later, she announced plans to release a memoir, aptly titled It’s Never Too Late.

Now, as the kind of legend she once looked up to, Gibbs remains tuned in to the Black women who have followed in her comedic footsteps on-screen. “I’m a fan of a lot of the actresses today, especially Tiffany Haddish, Tisha Campbell and Tichina Arnold,” she says. Gibbs worked with Campbell and Arnold on Martin in 1995, and with the latter again on The Neighborhood. “I hope that they picked up that I love them,” she says of the Black women entertainers she has inspired over her 50-plus-year career.
Beyond the accolades she has received as an actress, Gibbs’s greatest hope is that she has left behind a legacy of love. “That’s what God wants us to do, love each other, because we’re all one,” she says. “No matter what we look like, we’re still one.”

#HipHopNews: 50 Cent Disses Joe Budden For Saying Fifty Needs Therapy
50 Cent is dissing Joe Budden for insisting Fif needs therapy for 50's reaction to Irv Gotti's death.
On Tuesday (Feb. 18), Joe shared a segment of his latest podcast episode on YouTube titled "50 Cent Needs Therapy." During the clip, which can be seen below, Joe chastises 50's reaction to Irv's passing earlier this month.

"50 Cent needs therapy," Joe says at the 2:24 timestamp of the video below. "I don't care if you agree with the rationale. 50 is 50, he gon' stand in it. He gon' stand strong in it."
In the wake of Irv's death on Feb. 5, 50 shared a post on Instagram showing himself smoking on hookah while sitting next to a mock tombstone. He captioned the post, "I’m smoking on dat Gotti pack, nah God bless him LOL." 50 received some backlash for the post. Joe agrees that it was done in poor taste.

"If 50 feel like that, then go smoke a cigar in the cigar room," Joe adds. "I'm not telling him how to feel. But publicly saying 'Damn, I wanted him to see my new shows....' Or whatever the f**k is being said, I think it's wrong.
After catching wind of the video, 50 responded to Joe's comments on Instagram. 50 captioned a screenshot of the podcast episode, "Stay out my mix Joe talking about I need therapy. B***h you need to stop walking around naked. The fvck is you doing in the hallway with ya balls out PUNK!"

50's response is in reference to Joe being charged with lewdness last December for being naked in his apartment hallway and knocking on a neighbor's door. Joe claimed it was simply a sleepwalking episode and the charge was later dropped.
As for 50 and Irv Gotti's beef, it dates back two decades and partly involves Irv being friends with the person who allegedly commissioned 50's infamous 2000 shooting. Other violent incidents include the altercation with Murder Inc. at the Hit Factory studio where 50 was stabbed in 2000. There had been no love gained since then.

ASAP Rocky Found Not Guilty On Gun Assault Charges

ASAP Rocky was cleared of two firearm assault charges by a Los Angeles jury on Tuesday (Feb. 18) evening. The not guilty verdict came as a major sigh of relief for the rapper, who had been facing up to 24 years in prison over a 2021 altercation with Terell “ASAP Relli” Ephron.

After the verdict was read, courtroom footage showed ASAP Rocky jumping over the gallery wall to hug Rihanna and his mother. “Thank you, guys, for saving my life. Thank you, thank you, thank you, your honor,” the “L$D” hitmaker told Superior Court Judge Mark Arnold.
Outside the courthouse, fans and several of ASAP Rocky’s peers had plenty to say, with the most notable coming from the mother of his two children. “The glory belongs to God and God alone!” Rihanna wrote on her Instagram Story. “Thankful, humbled by his mercy!”

“I told [people that] I would bet $500,000 he [was] gonna beat it when ASAP Tellie started getting tired of telling five days straight,” 50 Cent captioned an Instagram post. Meanwhile, Ye posted a black-and-white photo of ASAP Rocky with a simple prayer hand emoji as its caption.
Kicking off the new year with a trial was not exactly ideal, but luckily, ASAP Rocky has plenty on his plate for the rest of 2025. In March, he will headline the first night of Rolling Loud California, where other artists like Playboi Carti, Sexyy Red, YG and Quavo are also set to take the stage.

Fans also have Don’t Be Dumb to look forward to, which, according to Rolling Loud co-founder Tariq Cherif, is set to drop “before the [festival].” The Harlem native’s long-awaited fourth studio album was originally slated for August 2024 but, for obvious reasons, faced multiple delays. Afterward, ASAP Rocky will co-chair the Met Gala in May and star in the Spike Lee-directed Highest 2 Lowest.

Andrew Lester dies while awaiting sentencing after pleading guilty in shooting of teen Ralph Yarl
Andrew Lester, the Kansas City man who pleaded guilty to felony assault in the second degree for the shooting of Ralph Yarl, has died while awaiting sentencing, Clay County Prosecuting Attorney Zachary Thompson announced on Wednesday.

"We have learned of the passing of Andrew Lester and extend our sincere condolences to his family during this difficult time," Thompson said. "While the legal proceedings have now concluded, we acknowledge that Mr. Lester did take responsibility for his actions by pleading guilty in this case. Our thoughts remain with both families affected by this tragic incident as they continue their healing process."

Lester, 86, was set to go on trial this week for shooting Yarl, a Black teenager who mistakenly knocked on his door, but ahead of the trial, Lester entered a guilty plea on Friday for felony assault in the second degree.
He was expected to be sentenced in this case during a hearing on March 7.

Second-degree assault, a Class D felony, carries with it the sentencing possibility of up to seven years in prison, Thompson said at a press conference after Friday's hearing.
Lester was initially charged with one count of felony assault in the first-degree and one count of armed criminal action, also a felony, in the shooting of Yarl, who mistakenly went to Lester's Kansas City home after arriving at the wrong address to pick up his twin brothers from a play date on April 13, 2023.

Lester, who is white, shot Yarl in the head and right arm, saying he believed someone was trying to break into his house, according to a probable cause statement obtained by ABC News. He initially pleaded not guilty in 2023 and was released on a $200,000 bond.
Yarl was 16 at the time of the shooting and suffered a traumatic brain injury, according to his family.
Yarl's family told ABC News in a statement Wednesday that "justice was never truly served."

"The news of Andrew Lester’s passing brings a mix of emotions, but it does not bring justice," Yarl's family said.
"We remain committed to seeking a world where no child fears for their life because of their race, and no family has to endure what we have. Ralph’s story is far from over, and neither is our fight for justice," the family added.
Yarl's family previously told ABC News Live Prime's Linsey Davis on Friday that they were not happy with the plea deal that Lester accepted.

"About two years ago, we knew Mr. Lester was guilty," Yarl's mother Cleo Nagbe told Davis on Friday. "We let him do what he wanted to do and waited two years after for him to show up and say, 'I'm going to plead guilty to the lesser of the charges.' So we're sick of this. So let's just move on and give this kid a chance to move on with his life and live on as a regular kid."
Lester’s attorney, Steve Salmon, previously argued that his client's mental and physical capacity was a factor in the case, postponing the initial trial date from Oct. 7, 2024 to Feb. 18, 2025. Salmon said the retired air mechanic had heart and memory issues, a broken hip and had lost over 50 pounds.

In November, the judge ruled that Lester was fit to stand trial after reviewing the results of a mental exam.
Yarl opened up about the shooting in an exclusive interview with "Good Morning America" co-anchor Robin Roberts in July 2023, where he reflected on his recovery and the harrowing experience.
"He points [the gun] at me … so I kinda, like, brace and I turn my head," Yarl told Roberts. "Then it happened. And then I'm on the ground ... and then I fall on the glass. The shattered glass. And then before I know it I'm running away shouting, 'Help me, help me.'"

Irving “Irv Gotti” Lorenzo’s unexpected passing has left his loved ones in grief, with many of his family members, friends and business associates attending the Murder Inc founder’s funeral service Wednesday (Feb. 19).
In post shared by TNT, Gotti’s artist and good friend, Ja Rule, is seen emotionally remembering the mogul who brought him, DMX, and JAY-Z to Def Jam Records, essentially saving the label in the mid-late 1990s. Hov was also in attendance to pay his respects, seated in the front pew of the Greater Allen A.M.E. Cathedral Church in Jamaica, Queens, where the funeral took place.

“I just want to say, Irv, I love you, everyone in this room loves you. You touched everybody in their own way. Everyone had their moment with that, with him,” the “Put It On Me” rapper expressed through tears. “We’re here, at the celebration of your life, because it will live on forever.
“I love you, my brother. See you when I get there,” Rule concluded before stepping down from the pulpit. Other guests included Ashanti, Lloyd, Charli Baltimore, Vita, Fat Joe, Steve Stoute, Hype Williams, Benny Boom and Angie Martinez.  See the clip below.

Gotti died on Wednesday, Feb. 5, 2025. While an official cause of death has not been released, Gotti reportedly suffered a second stroke following one last August, which reportedly caused a brain bleed.

Tamera Mowry’s Husband Bashed For Saying People “Work The System” In Response To SNAP Reform
Tamera Mowry-Housley‘s husband Adam Housley shares his alleged experience with people who use food stamps in response to proposed changes to the SNAP program by President Donald Trump’s administration. On Tuesday (Feb. 18), Housley detailed in a post on X his time working in his family-owned shop in his youth, where people would purchase “crap food” with government assistance.

“As a kid who grew up in neighborhood grocery stores since I was 5, I can’t tell you how many times I saw people come in and buy crap food for their kids with food stamps, then open the wallet and use cash for liquor, beer, wine and cigarettes,” he reflected.
“Then there were those who would repeatedly buy a lemon or lime, get the change, walk out the door throw them away and do it again. Until they had enough change to buy cigarettes or alcohol. As a kid it pissed me off because there are some people who could really use the help and then there are these others working the system.”

Many replies questioned his desire to police the purchases of others, however, Housely defended his reaction.
After being labeled a “silver spoon leech with generational wealth handed to him, b**ching and moaning telling lies about moms on food stamps” by a social media user, Housley responded, “Yeah not talking about moms on food stamps. I clearly defended helping families in need and clearly saw those taking advantage. Funny. Those taking advantage are the ones who hurt moms in need. Plus we’ve been helping families in need since I was a kid…you?”

He asserted in another post, “It’s people like this that make me dislike social media. They jump to conclusions and judge completely missing the point. I clearly said “when I was a kid” I worked the register from age 7-on and worked every holiday and yes grew up in the backroom of a family market. My parents didn’t always have money, but they busted their asses and so did we as kids and made it into something. They’ve also given back to my community for damn near 50 years. You see sometimes stating facts isn’t judging. Get a life.”

According to the Associated Press, Robert F. Kennedy Jr., the newly confirmed Health and Human Services secretary, and Brooke Rollins, the new Agriculture Secretary, have show support from limiting families who use SNAP benefits from purchasing certain items, including sugary snacks.

“The one place that I would say that we need to really change policy is the SNAP program and food stamps and in school lunches,” Kennedy explained on Fox News last week, per AP. “There, the federal government in many cases is paying for it. And we shouldn’t be subsidizing people to eat poison.”
“When a taxpayer is putting money into SNAP, are they OK with us using their tax dollars to feed really bad food and sugary drinks to children who perhaps need something more nutritious?” Rollins shared. “These are all massive questions we’re going to be asking and working on in the coming months and years.”
The AP reported that, for the administration to make these changes, Congress would need to change the law, as the SNAP program is run by the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA), not HHS, and is administered through individual states.

According to the USDA in 2023, SNAP served an average of 42.1 million participants per month. Federal SNAP spending totaled $112.8 billion and benefits averaged $211.93 per participant per month.

The Estate of Michael Jackson estate fights auction of unreleased music
In a bold move to protect Michael Jackson’s musical legacy, representatives of the late artist’s estate have spoken out against an upcoming auction of cassette tapes allegedly containing unreleased tracks from the 1980s and 1990s. The estate claims these recordings are merely copies of master tracks already in their possession, challenging both the authenticity and value of the items.

Auction controversy centers around 12 previously unheard songs recorded during Jackson’s most productive era. Gotta Have Rock and Roll auction house has listed the collection with an opening bid of $85,000, projecting final prices between $150,000 and $200,000.
Estate representatives characterized the auction as misleading, asserting ownership of all original master recordings. This raises significant questions about what rights, if any, a potential buyer would actually acquire – specifically noting that reproduction or public performance rights would not transfer with purchase.

The president of Gotta Have Rock and Roll has offered a counterargument, suggesting the tapes hold special collector value precisely because they represent material kept from public release. According to this perspective, the estate’s protective stance inadvertently increases the rarity and desirability of these recordings among serious collectors.

This dispute highlights broader questions about posthumous artist legacy management. The Jackson estate has consistently maintained tight control over unreleased material, balancing preservation of artistic integrity against commercial interests and fan desires.
Music historians note that unreleased recordings often provide valuable insight into an artist’s creative process, yet ethical questions persist about whether works an artist chose not to release should remain private.

The high-profile nature of this auction reflects growing collector interest in unreleased music from iconic artists. Authentication challenges and copyright complications often surround such items, creating complex valuation considerations.
Memorabilia experts suggest that while the tapes themselves might change hands, their status as copies without rights to reproduce content fundamentally limits their utility. This distinction represents a critical factor potential bidders must evaluate.
Jackson‘s dedicated fan base has expressed mixed reactions. Some believe access to any previously unheard music honors the artist’s legacy, while others support the estate’s protective stance as respecting Jackson’s artistic choices and vision.

Online forums dedicated to the late performer have seen heated debates about whether such unreleased works should remain private or become accessible to dedicated fans and researchers.
Entertainment law specialists point out that this case resembles previous disputes over unreleased materials from other prominent artists. Courts have generally supported estates’ rights to control unreleased content, though specific ownership questions can become complicated when dealing with demo recordings or collaborative works.
The auction outcome may establish precedent for how similar situations are handled with other artists’ estates in the future.

Beyond legal considerations, cultural historians recognize the difficult balance between preserving artistic legacies and making significant works accessible. Jackson’s influence on popular music remains profound, generating continuing interest in his creative process and unreleased compositions.
Music industry observers note that posthumous releases require careful curation to maintain artistic integrity while satisfying public interest in comprehensive catalogs from influential artists.
Authentication represents a particularly thorny issue in this case. Without access to master recordings for comparison, determining the exact provenance and completeness of the copies becomes problematic for potential buyers.

Audio forensics experts explain that without proper chain of custody documentation, verifying whether these tapes contain authentic Jackson studio sessions versus alternate takes or edited versions presents significant challenges.
Auction specialists acknowledge the complex factors affecting valuation of such items. While association with an iconic artist drives initial interest, limited usability rights fundamentally constrain commercial value.

The auction house’s valuation model appears to emphasize collector appeal rather than commercial exploitation potential, positioning these tapes as historical artifacts rather than exploitable content.
As the auction date approaches, attention focuses on whether legal intervention might delay or prevent the sale. The Jackson estate has previously demonstrated willingness to pursue legal remedies when perceived threats to the artist’s legacy emerge.

The outcome will likely influence how similar situations involving unreleased material from major recording artists are handled in the future, potentially establishing precedent for the boundaries between collector markets and intellectual property rights.
Whatever the auction’s outcome, this situation underscores the ongoing complexity of managing artistic legacies in the digital age, where reproduction capabilities create new challenges for controlling creative works and preserving artist intentions beyond their lifetimes.

Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs moves to dismiss federal charge, arguing statute’s ‘racist origins’
Attorneys for Sean “Diddy” Combs are moving to dismiss one of the charges the embattled music mogul is facing, arguing that the currently incarcerated Combs has been subject to a racist prosecution — which prosecutors have previously denied.
“This case is unprecedented in many ways, but perhaps most notably, and most disturbingly, no White person has ever been the target of a remotely similar prosecution,” Combs’ defense argued in a new motion, filed Tuesday evening.

“Mr. Combs has been singled out because he is a powerful Black man, and he is being prosecuted for conduct that regularly goes unpunished,” the filing continued.
Combs’ attorneys are asking the court to drop Count Three in the superseding indictment against Combs — transportation to engage in prostitution — arguing that there has “never been a similar” prosecution under The Mann Act.

Prosecutors include two more victims in Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs’ federal indictment
The Mann Act, which was previously called the White-Slave Traffic Act, was passed in 1910 to prohibit the transportation of women for prostitution and human trafficking.
As recently as 2021, Ghislaine Maxwell, the longtime companion of Jeffery Epstein, was convicted under the Mann act for transporting minors with the intent to engage in criminal sexual activity.

Attorneys for Combs have previously accused the government of racism. One of Combs’ lawyers, Marc Agnifilo, told TMZ in an interview last year that the case was a “takedown of a successful Black man.”
Prosecutors took issue with Agnifilo’s statements to TMZ, raising concerns in court.
“He baselessly accused the government of engaging in a racist prosecution,” one of the prosecutors told the judge at an October hearing, adding that the accusations posed a “serious risk” for a fair trial.

Combs’ attorneys argued that the statute has only been used to prosecute people of color, writing, “What was racist in its inception has often been racist in its operation.”
The charge of transporting escorts across state lines for purposes of prostitution is based on a law, his defense said, which has “a long and troubling history as a statute with racist origins, used to target Black men and supposedly protect White women from them.”

Combs is facing three federal charges, also including racketeering conspiracy and sex trafficking. He has pleaded not guilty to all charges and is currently being held at a federal detention center in New York City.
Attorneys for Combs did not provide any additional comment to CNN on Tuesday evening, in regards to their latest filing.

Cassie Is Expecting Her Third Child

Cassie is expecting her third child! The singer announced her pregnancy on Wednesday with a series of very sweet photos featuring her husband, Alex Fine, and their two daughters, Frankie and Sunny. Cassie opted for a simple emoji-forward caption, writing, “🤰🏽💙 #3.” Under his matching announcement, Fine wrote, “Best gift I could ask for.”

The comments of Cassie’s post were filled with famous well-wishers, with Jessica Alba, Kim Kardashian, Khloé Kardashian, Ciara, and Chloe Bailey all congratulating the singer and her family.
Cassie has maintained a low profile since late 2023, when she accused Diddy of rape and years of abuse in a federal lawsuit. The day after she filed, they reached an undisclosed settlement. Her suit opened the door for more victims to come forward, and Diddy is now awaiting a federal sex-trafficking trial and facing several civil suits from people who claim he abused them as well.

Last May, when graphic footage of Diddy assaulting Cassie in a hotel in 2016 was published by CNN, the singer shared a powerful statement about domestic violence. “Thank you to everyone that has taken the time to take this matter seriously,” she wrote. “My only ask is that EVERYONE open your heart to believing victims the first time. It takes a lot of heart to tell the truth out of a situation that you were powerless in.”

Kevin Spacey Fires Back At Guy Pearce After Allegation Of Inappropriate Behaviors: 'You Are Not A Victim'
Guy Pearce has recently accused Kevin Spacey of targeting him during the making of their 1997 Oscar-winning film "L.A. Confidential". Pearce, 57, claimed in an interview that he was "young and susceptible" at the time and that Spacey's alleged behavior left him "scared."

Spacey, 65, responded to Pearce's allegations in a video uploaded on February 18. He questioned Pearce's timing and motives for speaking out, saying, "While I would have preferred not to have to play this out in the media, you obviously have your own reasons for wanting to do exactly that."
"If I did something then that upset you, you could have reached out to me then. We could have had that conversation. But instead you've decided to speak to the press, who are now, of course, coming after me because they would like to know what my response is to the things that you said. You really wanna know what my response is? Grow up."

Spacey also claimed that Pearce visited him on the set of another film after they finished working on "L.A. Confidential", indicating that their relationship was not as contentious as Pearce had portrayed.
"Did you tell the press that too? Or does that not fit into the victim narrative you have going?" Spacey remarked. He stressed, "I've got nothing to hide. But, Guy, you need to grow up. You are not a victim."

Guy Pearce did say he tried to confront Spacey on multiple occasions, only to find the interactions to be "ugly."
Recounting the incident, Pearce stated, "Really I was sort of scared of Kevin because he's quite an aggressive man. He holds a room remarkably. But I was young and susceptible, and he targeted me, no question."
According to Pearce, he was not the only one that caught Spacey's eye. He remembered "the only days I feel safe are the days when [Simon Baker] is on set because I'm dumped like a hot potato, and [Kevin] focuses on [Simon] because he was ten times prettier than I am."

It was not the first time Pearce talked about Spacey's alleged inappropriate behaviors. Back in 2018, he described the "House of Cards" alum as "a handsy guy," before later clarifying, "I addressed and handled the situation when it took place, hence my regret at making it public now."
Looking back, he has since regretted downplaying Spacey's alleged misconduct. "I don't want him to get away with what he gets away with," he explained. "I just try to be more honest about it now and call it for what it is."

Spacey has faced multiple allegations of sexual misconduct, some of which he has been cleared of in court. He has also spoken out about losing his home due to debt from legal bills. Making his stance clear on Pearce's allegations, Spacey said, "I've got nothing to hide. But, Guy, you need to grow up. You are not a victim."

Meghan Markle Faces Second Copycat Allegation Amid New Brand Controversy
After being accused of plagiarism over her new brand logo, Meghan Markle found herself embroiled in another controversy due to her rebranded lifestyle business venture "As Ever."
It turns out the moniker Meghan has chosen for her brand is the exact same as the name of a small New York-based vintage clothing company. The owner raised this issue, voicing concerns about the potential name confusion.

"In the last 36 hours there has been an outpouring of support and concern regarding recent events around our namesake brand. We are aware. We are not affiliated," founder Mark Kolski issued a statement.

He explained that his venture began in 2015 and has been operating officially since 2017. "I'm a very small business, it's a family-run operation. I'm essentially a one-man band," he told The Sun. "This new venture has the power and money of Netflix behind it."

He's now "exploring all possibilities" but has no plan to rename his brand. He believes that while he does not hold a trademark for the name "As Ever," he has common law rights to sell clothing using it.
The Duchess of Sussex ditched the name "American Riviera Orchard" because she didn't want to be limited to "things that were just manufactured and grown in this area." She secured copyrights for "As Ever" in 2022.

She launched a new website, featuring her little daughter, Princess Lilibet, in a rare photo with her famous mother, along with its upgraded logo: a palm tree with hummingbirds on both sides.
Leaders in a Spanish town named Porreres accused Markle of copycat due to similarities to their traditional coat of arms, which also depicts a palm tree with two birds hovering on either side. Mayor Xisca Mora said the town is considering legal action against the Duchess.

90 Day 's Jasmine Is Pregnant With Boyfriend's Baby Amid Gino Marriage
The 90 Day Fiancé universe is getting bigger by one little resident.
Jasmine Pineda announced that she is expecting her third child and first baby with boyfriend Matt Branis, amid her rocky relationship with husband Gino Palazzolo.

“I have very special news,” 38-year-old revealed as she cradled her baby bump in a video shared on the official 90 Day Fiancé Instagram account Feb. 18. “Let me announce to you that I am pregnant. I am so happy and excited, and I cannot wait to meet my beautiful baby.”
Jasmine did not share any further details about her pregnancy including the date she is expecting her baby or the sex.

However, she was all too happy to celebrate the moment, cradling her bump in the maternity shoot and posing alongside her boyfriend and dog Coco.

Matt also shared the news on his Instagram account, alongside the maternity pics with a simple red heart for the caption.
Though Jasmine and Gino continued their time on the TLC franchise with a trip to Arizona to film 90 Day Fiance: The Last Resort, fans have speculated their getaway didn’t ultimately have a happy ending with Gino largely disappearing from Jasmine’s social media feed.

In fact, Jasmine, who shares Panama-based sons Juance and JC with her first husband, made her announcement the day after introducing Matt on the spinoff’s Feb. 17 episode.
Gino and Jasmine—who got married in 2023 after she made the move to be with him in Michigan—attended the retreat to work on their marital issues, including an ongoing lack of intimacy. After Gino revealed that Jasmine’s hot temper makes him less sexually attracted to her, Jasmine suggested opening their marriage after a nine-month dry spell.

While chatting with fellow cast members, Jasmine admitted that she had the perfect person in mind and called Matt—who she knows from the gym. Fans have yet to see if Jasmine and Gino leave the resort together. However, Jasmine and Matt have left subtle hints regarding their relationship status in recent months, as they appeared on each other’s social media platforms sharing workouts and fitness tips.

And now that they’ve definitively hard launched their romance, her costars are raising a glass.
“Congrats dear friend,” Jeymi Noguera wrote in a reshared video on her Instagram Story Feb. 18. “You deserve all the good things in the world.”
Nikki Exotika wrote on her Instagram Story, “I’m so happy for @jasminepanama.”
Daniele Gates, meanwhile, celebrated the moment by taking a shot at Gino writing, “I guess Gino FAFO! Congratulations @jasminepanama you deserve all the happiness in the world. Idk who needs to hear this, but I hope these other boys are paying attention.”

AND FINALLY FROM “THE CRAZY PEOPLE SHOPPING AT WALMART” FILES
