#MAGFAB: Teyana Taylor For Essence's Magazine's Black Women In Hollywood Edition

Teyana Taylor knows her strengths as an artist, and she isn’t shy about them. “I work really, really well under pressure,” says the performer, 34. “And I’m a really good problem solver. The queen of pivoting.”
Taylor’s ability to transfer her talents across multiple industries has made her a cultural mainstay for nearly 20 years. The singer and songwriter first amassed fans as a budding recording artist signed to Pharrell’s Star Trak Entertainment record label. She was introduced to the world on MTV’s My Super Sweet 16, and she continued to grow a following through the release of her solo music projects VII, K.T.S.E. and The Album.
Movie roles in Stomp the Yard: Homecoming, Madea’s Big Happy Family and Coming 2 America, as well as in the TV musical-drama Star, built Taylor’s acting career along the way—preparing her for the lead part of Inez de la Paz, in A.V. Rockwell’s Sundance Grand Jury Prize–winning A Thousand and One. For that latter role, Taylor won the Breakthrough Performance Award from the National Board of Review in 2023.

“I’ve never allowed myself to be put into one box,” says Taylor. “I’m like a Glade PlugIn. Why only make the kitchen smell good, when you can make the whole house smell good?” The multi-hyphenate entertainer’s first choreography credit came when she was just 15, for her work on the set of the music video for Beyoncé’s 2006 single “Ring the Alarm.” She later went on to win the 2017 MTV Video Music Award for Best Choreography for her sultry performance in Kanye West’s “Fade.”
“Plug me in! I can do it all,” she declares. “I can handle it. That’s what I want other women to know about themselves, too.” Taylor, who is also a two-time BET Video Director of the Year Award recipient, has directed music videos for herself and other artists, like Schoolboy Q and Queen Naija, under the moniker “Spike Tee.” “You can plug in anywhere you want to plug in,” she says. “You can make the whole building smell good, versus settling for making just one room smell good.”
Taylor’s turn as a creative director and performance coach has been a testament to her empowering “aroma”—and its lingering ability to rub off on others. Under her guidance, young rappers and singers like Latto, Summer Walker and Lola Brooke have been transformed from small music acts into certified entertainers, commanding incrementally larger audiences as they hone their craft onstage.

“I just want to see people win, especially other Black women. I think that’s where the auntie coin kicks in.”
“I’m a super-nurturer,” explains Taylor. “I spoil all my clients. It’s like a real-life auntie for sure.” And she gains as much from fostering newer talents as they do in learning from her. “I just always want to see people win, especially other Black women,” she says. “I think that’s where the auntie coin kicks in, because I want to help everybody. I just want to coddle them and say ‘Okay, baby, we got it. You ain’t got to be discouraged about this. You ain’t got to be discouraged about that.’ Again, how do we pivot? What’s the solution? How do we turn this negative into a positive?
“I’m always trying to see the light in everything, and helping others heals me in a way,” Taylor adds. “Helping others makes me happy. It’s a feeling that I can’t explain, but I enjoy it. It brings me so much life and so much peace.”
Doing things that spark joy is particularly important in this moment for Taylor. “With everything I’ve ever been through, showing up for myself has been my biggest success,” she says. “In a lot of the work that I’m doing, whether it’s in the public or behind closed doors, I give a lot, and a lot of times it’s not necessarily reciprocated. I’m not looking for it to be, nor am I looking for a gold star, but I’m realizing I need to also show up for myself. How can I fully be happy if I’m not showing up for myself in the same way that I show up for everybody else?”

Being a mom to Junie, 9, and Rue, 4, helps Taylor follow through on that need. “My daughters give me the confidence to be fearless, because they’re super fearless,” she says.
Her girls also inspire her to raise the stakes and go for her heart’s desire. After appearing in Kenya Barris’s White Men Can’t Jump reboot and Jeymes Samuel’s The Book of Clarence, Taylor is diving into acting once again with the action-adventure flick One Battle After Another, set for release on August 8. She stars in the film alongside Leonardo DiCaprio, Regina Hall, Sean Penn and Benicio Del Toro.
These days, she’s unwaveringly cool about what the future may hold. “I feel like I’m on a faith walk, and I’m just following the path,” she says. “I don’t really know what’s coming, and I’m not focusing on what’s behind me. I’m kind of just coasting. I look forward to whatever is already written in God’s plan for me.”

Since the 1980s, Simon Guobadia, Real Housewives of Atlanta” star Porsha Williams’ husband, has been trying to become a U.S. citizen, according to court records.
According to court documents, Guobadia’s latest request for citizenship was denied by U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services last month.
Guobadia, a Nigerian citizen, initially entered the U.S. in 1982, but overstayed his visa and was declared deportable in 1985. He came back into the country the next year, but once again overstayed his work visa.
In 1987, he was arrested and pleaded guilty to bank and credit card fraud. Over the next few years, he was arrested two more times.
In 1992, Guobadia was deported and physically removed from the U.S. Less than a month later, he was granted permanent residency status under an undisclosed identity, the federal filing says.
Years later, in 2016, he applied for naturalization, but was denied because his previous status was “unlawfully granted.”
Since then, he has filed several complaints and appeals in an effort to become a naturalized citizen, but none of them have been granted.
Guobadia and Williams are currently going through a contentious divorce. The couple became separated in 2024 after just 15 months of marriage.
In November, Guobadia filed a lawsuit against Williams asking for $75,000 in compensatory and punitive damages over claims of defamation, infliction of emotional distress, and invasion of privacy at the hands of his estranged wife.
In the document, Guobadia claims that Williams intentionally and maliciously posted “false and defamatory statements about Plaintiff on social media platforms, specifically implying that (Guobadia) suffers from erectile dysfunction.”
Guobadia says in the document that the posts “have caused significant harm to Plaintiff’s personal and professional reputation, subjected him to public ridicule, and inflicted severe emotional distress.”

#MusicNews: En Vogue Reunites With Maxine Jones For Epic 2025 NBA All-Star Game Halftime Show Performance

The 2025 NBA All-Star Game had basketball fans in a chokehold, but music lovers had another reason to tune in. The All-Star Halftime Show entertainment was curated by DJ Cassidy who brought a few Bay Area faves with him to the Chase Center in San Francisco for the NBA All-Star Game edition of Pass The Mic Live!. The set was heavy on hip-hop with E-40, Too $hort and Saweetie rocking the mic, but what really set the performance off was an appearance by R&B superstars En Vogue who had a surprise in store.
Before En Vogue graced center court, DJ Cassidy introduced the celebration of sport and sound with E-40 going dumb on his hit “Tell Me When To Go.” Too $hort kicked things up a notch with his party-starting jam “Blow The Whistle” complete with dancers dressed like referees who blew their whistles, of course. Saweetie then popped out with a medley of her songs “Tap In” and “Best Friend.”
It was then time for En Vogue, and Oakland’s Funky Divas made quite an entrance. As the smoke cleared, it was immediately evident that the group, which has been performing as a trio with newest member Rhona Bennett since 2004, was once again a foursome. In a shocking plot twist, original member Maxine Jones was back in the mix and in step with fellow OGs Cindy Herron-Braggs and Terry Ellis and Bennett.
All four ladies began singing the iconic breakdown from “My Lovin’ (You’re Never Gonna Get It)” before the instrumental switched to “Free Your Mind.” One by one, Cindy, Rhona and Terry sang their parts leading up to Maxine’s solo moment on the mic, and she sounded as incredible as ever and exactly like we remembered. En Vogue sang the first verse and chorus to “Free Your Mind” before ending their segment with their fists raised high.
En Vogue didn’t just make a statement on Pass The Mic Live!, they signaled their triumphant return with this performance. Today (Monday, February 17th), the group officially welcomed Maxine Jones back in a video posted to their socials. Although the fourth original member Dawn Robinson is still MIA, having Max back is an answered prayer for many fans.
We’re excited to see what’s in store for this next chapter of En Vogue’s story. One thing is for sure, it’s gonna sound amazing. In case you missed anything, watch En Vogue’s reunion performance, the complete Pass The Mic Live! 2025 NBA All-Star Game Halftime Show and the group’s special announcement BELOW

#HipHopNews: A$AP Relli Breaks Silence On A$AP Rocky's Acquittal In Shooting Trial
A$AP Relli has broken his silence after seeing his criminal case against A$AP Rocky crumble at trial.
The former A$AP Mob member and friend of the rapper accused him of shooting him during a dispute in November 2021, resulting in Rocky being charged with two felony counts of assault with a weapon.
After a weeks-long trial that concluded on Tuesday (February 18), Pretty Flacko walked away a free man after being found not guilty by a California jury, avoiding a lengthy prison sentence.
In his first public statement since the verdict, Relli (real name Terell Ephron) took on a defiant tone as he hit out at his detractors.
“Gossiping is a form of entertainment for people who have no meaningful goals or purpose in life, hate me, bring shame to my name, say bad things about me, I don’t care,” he wrote on his Instagram Stories.
“Your existence doesn’t add any value in my life [praying hands emoji],” he added.
Relli has faced much criticism since losing the trial. 50 Cent, one of Rocky’s biggest supporters throughout the ordeal, branded him “A$AP Telli” in a celebratory Instagram post.
“Not guilty I told [ninja emoji] I would bet 500,000K he gonna beat it when A$AP Telli started getting tired of telling 5 days straight. BOOM. Now stay sucker free,” he wrote.
Fellow A$AP Mob alumnus A$AP Ant also took aim at Relli, writing on X: “Stupid fool really turnt rat” alongside a photo of him testifying on the witness stand.
Addressing the media outside of the courthouse after the trial, he said: “I thank God first. You gotta thank God first. And I really wanna thank to jury for making the right decision.
“I’m just so thankful. This is crazy right now. This whole experience has been crazy for the past four years but I’m thankful nonetheless. We blessed to be here right now, to be a free man talking to y’all. All praise be to God.”
He also hinted that his long-awaited new album may finally be around the corner, simply writing “DON’T BE DUMB” on X (formerly Twitter).
The rapper’s acquittal was also celebrated by his girlfriend Rihanna, Kanye West and Tyler, The Creator, among others.

A’ja Wilson Confirms ‘Love & Basketball’ Romance With Bam Adebayo

A’ja Wilson and Bam Adebayo are walking into their Love & Basketball era—just without all the unhealthy Quincy McCall shenanigans. During a recent interview with People, the WNBA MVP briefly opened up about her boo, dishing on a few details about their Valentine’s Day plans.
“My plans are here at NBA All-Star,” Wilson coyly expressed before noting that Bam didn’t make the All-Star selection. “My NBA All-Star is not here.” As the South Carolina native explained that because of the Miami Heat player wasn’t able to be at the 2025 NBA All-Star Game, she acknowledged that he was taking time off from the court to “[get] the rest he needs.” “And that’s the best Valentine’s gift that I can truly give him, is just the rest.”
However, the Las Vegas Aces captain did stop short of labeling each other their Valentines in the usual A’ja fashion, humorously saying, “I mean—.” The conversation then shifted to Bam’s viral moment, with the Olympian sporting the Nike A’One–Wilson’s first signature shoe with the Oregon-based company.
“It was super dope. It was a moment…[Bam Adebayo] really wanted to be at the forefront of pushing my shoes,” she revealed about her homie-lover-friend. “If I have to put it out in the NBA, why not have someone like Bam Adebayo, who’s just a good person all around, to kind of showcase my shoes, so I was thankful he was able to wear it.”
Rumors of the two-star athletes becoming a couple intensified in the second half of 2024 during the Paris Olympics. Bam Adebayo and A’ja Wilson were photographed together, slyly hanging out or near one another, careful not to draw much attention to their budding flame.
The two became the topic of many online conversations, with numerous netizens gushing about the potential Love & Basketball vibes they were giving off—regardless of how hard they attempted to conceal it. “Yea they can’t hide anymore,” one account typed at the time.
After the Olympics, more folks began catching on to the love in the air. During a September 2024 ceremony that saw the Heat player get the key to Miami-Dade County for snagging gold with Team USA, the mayor put the couple on blast.
“A’ja Wilson, she won gold in women’s basketball. I guess that has something to do with Bam and the Heat being here today,” Daniella Levine Cava comically told the crowd.

Brittney Griner pulls out of The Women Grow Leadership Summit event due a possible death threat!
The appearance of WNBA All-Star Brittney Griner at a prominent cannabis industry conference was abruptly canceled this week following the discovery of a concerning note near her hotel accommodations. A subsequent investigation, however, is leading authorities to believe that it might just have been an unfortunate coincidence.
Griner, 34, recently acquired by the Atlanta Dream, was scheduled to address attendees at the Women Grow Leadership Summit on Feb. 17 at Maryland’s Gaylord National Resort & Convention Center when the incident occurred. Her decision to withdraw came after finding a note containing the phrase “Gay Baby Jail” in proximity to her hotel room. Griner has come out as gay.
The phrase, while seemingly obscure, raised significant concerns about Griner’s safety at the event. The timing was particularly sensitive given Griner’s high-profile status following her 2022 detention in Russia.
However, preliminary findings by law enforcement officials from Prince George’s County suggest the phrase has connections to online gaming communities, though they’ve emphasized no direct threats were made against Griner or other hotel guests. They also believe the phrase, found on a piece of duct tape, might’ve been left by a previous guest — which raises questions about how well housekeeping does its job between guest stays.
“Detectives have learned the phrase ‘gay baby jail’ is commonly used as a video game reference,” according to a statement from police obtained by TMZ Sports. “At the time the tape was located, a large convention was taking place at the Gaylord which attracts thousands of people, many with an interest in anime as well as video game enthusiasts. At this time, detectives have uncovered no link to or threat against the guest who located the tape.”
The incident has prompted scrutiny of the hotel’s safety procedures. Women Grow CEO Dr. Chanda Macias has publicly questioned whether proper room cleaning protocols were followed.
The situation highlights the complex security considerations for venues hosting high-profile figures, particularly those who may face heightened risks due to their public standing.
This disruption comes at a critical time for the cannabis industry, where women remain underrepresented in leadership positions despite the sector’s explosive growth.
The Women Grow Leadership Summit represents an important platform addressing systemic challenges facing women entrepreneurs and executives in the cannabis industry. Recent industry data shows women hold approximately 37 percent of executive positions in the sector.
With the cannabis market generating more than $32 million annually and serving nearly 50 million consumers, the summit aims to address funding disparities, policy hurdles, and mentorship opportunities crucial for women’s advancement in the field.
Industry projections estimating $58 million in sales by 2030 underscore the importance of diverse leadership as the market expands. Events like the Women Grow summit provide vital networking and educational resources for those traditionally marginalized in business leadership.
This incident reflects larger concerns about public safety for high-profile individuals, particularly those who may face multiple intersecting vulnerabilities. For Griner, whose 10-time All-Star status and personal history have placed her firmly in the public eye, such security concerns represent a serious consideration when accepting speaking engagements.
The cannabis industry’s rapid evolution presents both opportunities and challenges for diverse leadership. Organizations like Women Grow work to ensure women can participate fully in the economic opportunities presented by cannabis legalization while navigating complex regulatory and social environments.
As authorities continue investigating the note’s origins, the incident serves as a reminder of the security considerations event organizers must prioritize when hosting prominent figures. It also highlights how quickly such incidents can disrupt professional gatherings and limit important conversations about representation in emerging industries.
The convention center management has not issued public statements regarding potential security enhancements following the incident. However, industry observers note that venues hosting high-profile events increasingly face pressure to implement comprehensive security protocols that protect all participants.
For the cannabis industry specifically, creating safe and inclusive professional environments remains crucial to attracting diverse talent and leadership. As the sector continues its transition from underground market to mainstream business, establishing professional standards that prioritize safety and inclusion will be essential to its long-term success.
The disruption to the summit’s programming underscores how security concerns can impact industry events and limit important conversations about representation, policy reform, and business development in the rapidly evolving cannabis marketplace.

Beyoncé’s new perfume draws fan criticism over timing

The launch of Beyoncé’s latest fragrance has sparked unexpected controversy, as fans find themselves caught between excitement for her new venture and frustration over the steep prices of her upcoming tour. The global superstar, known for her influence across music, fashion, and beauty, unveiled her new perfume, Cé Lumière, on Feb. 19, at a time when many of her supporters were already facing challenges securing tickets for her highly anticipated Cowboy Carter tour.
While the announcement was intended to celebrate her expanding empire, it instead fueled growing discontent among fans who feel stretched thin by the financial demands of following their favorite artist.
Beyoncé’s latest addition to her luxury brand, Cé Lumière, was expected to make waves in the beauty industry, with its carefully curated scent profile and high-end packaging. The perfume, described as a luminous and sophisticated blend of florals and warm undertones, reflects the artist’s signature elegance and attention to detail. However, rather than being met with unanimous praise, the release was met with mixed reactions, as fans voiced their frustrations over the timing of the launch.
With tickets for Cowboy Carter going on sale around the same time, many devoted members of the BeyHive were already struggling to afford the high costs of attending her concert. Prices for premium seating skyrocketed due to demand and dynamic pricing models, leaving many longtime fans priced out of the experience. Some supporters who had eagerly anticipated both the tour and the fragrance launch found themselves forced to make a difficult choice between purchasing a ticket or indulging in the latest addition to Beyoncé’s growing brand portfolio.
The fragrance announcement landed during a particularly sensitive period for Beyoncé’s fanbase. Concert tickets for her upcoming tour have reached unprecedented price points, with some seats commanding thousands of dollars. The contrast between these costs and the introduction of another luxury product has struck a discordant note with many followers.
Adding to the complexity, many members of the Beyhive report exhausting their finances attempting to secure concert tickets, only to face disappointment. This financial strain has amplified criticism of the perfume launch, which some view as poorly timed.
The perfume launch represents the latest addition to Beyoncé’s growing business empire, following her recent ventures into haircare with Cécred and spirits with Sir Davis. However, the rapid succession of product releases has created tension within her traditionally supportive fanbase.
Social media platforms have become forums for fans expressing their disillusionment. The response highlights a growing disconnect between celebrity business ventures and fan financial realities. Many supporters have voiced concerns about feeling pressured to support multiple launches while struggling to afford concert experiences.
At the heart of the controversy lies the broader issue of concert ticket accessibility. Dynamic pricing models have pushed attendance costs beyond many fans’ reach, creating frustration that extends beyond Beyoncé to the entire live music industry. The limited number of Cowboy Carter tour dates has only intensified competition for tickets.
Industry analysts note that while artists often have minimal control over ticket pricing structures, fans increasingly look to them for advocacy against expensive pricing models. The timing of the perfume launch has become a flashpoint for these broader concerns about concert accessibility.
This situation reflects a growing tension in the entertainment industry between artist brand expansion and fan accessibility. As performers increasingly diversify their business interests, they must navigate the delicate balance between entrepreneurship and maintaining connection with their base.
The controversy surrounding Cé Lumière’s launch may signal a shifting dynamic in how artists approach product releases during tour seasons. It raises questions about the need for more coordinated timing strategies that consider fans’ financial constraints.
Looking ahead, this incident might influence how other artists approach the intersection of touring and product launches. The reaction from Beyoncé’s fanbase demonstrates that even the most devoted supporters have limits to their financial and emotional investment.
For the music industry, this moment provides valuable insights into the complex relationship between artist diversification and fan expectations. As ticket prices continue to challenge concertgoers, artists may need to reconsider how they time and present their business ventures to maintain fan loyalty.
The ultimate impact of this controversy remains to be seen, but it has already sparked important conversations about artist-fan relationships in an era of expanding celebrity brands and rising concert costs.

Ice-T Thanks Haters While Accepting Star on Hollywood Walk of Fame

Ice-T celebrated getting a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame by giving his haters some appreciation.
The hip-hop legend took the podium, with his daughter behind him, and directed a profanity-filled message to anyone that’s ever doubted him. “I want to thank the motherfucking haters because you really make me get up in the morning and be the best that I can be,” he said as the audience cheered.
“All the naysayers, all the people that wanted to end my career, now I’m on the Walk of Fame bitch ass motherfuckers,” he continued. You have to let the haters motivate you. If you want to go to the gym, go on YouTube and see somebody talking shit about you and go get your reps in.”
Ice-T’s celebratory rant didn’t end there. “If it wasn’t for the haters, I definitely wouldn’t have pulled this off, I swear to God,” he said. “Thank you so much. I’m going to give you so much more to hate in the future.”
After Ice-T posted his speech on X, someone chastised him for cursing in front of his daughter. Responding to someone asking him where his wife Coco was to stop him from using profanity, Ice-T hilariously responded with “Shut up Bitch…”
After his clap back, Ice-T let the world know how his family was reacting to his foul language by sharing a picture of them lounging on a beach. “Us right now…….While people go back and forth about our parenting,” he wrote. “It’s so Obvious we look like we give F… Have a nice day! #TheIceFamily.”
Ice-T also shared a message with a more positive note to his followers today. “ICE COLD FACT: EVERY person on Earth 🌍 is dealing with some level of Stress..,” he wrote. “Every single person. Some more than others. But the illusion that someone is stress free… is just that. An illusion. 💎 Stay strong. This LIFE thing is not easy for Anybody.”
Last month, footage of Ice-T going hard on a police officer surfaced on the internet. The rapper-turned-actor was stopped for expired plates in 2021 in New Jersey and indicated that he was headed to a nearby DMV to take care of the situation. After the police officer informed him that he would tow the rap legend’s vehicle, Ice-T said to him, “I’m one foot away form the DMV — you’re a fucking asshole. I showed you all of the paperwork.
Later, when the officer told Ice-T to "show some respect," the rapper, as on-brand as he could possibly be, retorted with, "I don’t have t."

Anthony Mackie Reacts to Memes About His Facial Expressions: 'I Still Don’t Get It!'
Anthony Mackie is perplexed by fans’ memes about his facial expressions.
Mackie sat down with Danny Ramirez for the latest installation of Dad Jokes, where they were shown a meme about Mackie’s knowing smile.
“Bruh Anthony Mackie always look like he know something about you,” the meme said.
“I’ve seen this before and I still don’t get it. I wanna get it,” the Captain America actor said. “Do you get it?” he asked Ramirez.
“Don’t look at me like that. You don’t know anything about me,” Ramirez said, playing into the joke, which prompted them both to laugh
Mackie recently found himself immersed in controversy over remarks about Captain America. Last month, he reminded fans of the “universal characteristics” of Captain America.
“For me, Captain America represents a lot of different things and I don’t think the term ‘America’ should be one of those representations,” Mackie said in a clip. “It’s about a man who keeps his word, who has honor, dignity, and integrity; someone who is trustworthy and dependable.”
However, some fans took that as him dissing their beloved USA, which compelled Anthony to later add on his Instagram Story, that he is “a proud American” and called it “the honor of a lifetime” to play the Captain America character.

Jaguar Wright Honored With Defender Of Freedom Award For “Dedication To Truth And Justice”
Jaguar Wright was the recipient of a special award during a ceremony on Tuesday (Feb. 18) by the America’s Future, Inc. non-profit organization. Presented by General Michael Flynn, the singer was one of several individuals honored at the event, which was held at President Donald Trump’s Mar-A-Lago club in Palm Beach, Fla.
“Jaguar Wright: A Voice of Truth and Courage,” began the post shared across the America’s Future social media platforms.
“Tonight, Jaguar Wright was honored with the Defender of Freedom award, presented by General Michael Flynn, in recognition of her fearless dedication to truth and justice. As a bold and unapologetic voice in the fight for transparency and accountability, Jaguar continues to shine a light where others fear to tread.”
While being recognized for her commitment to truth, Wright has been known for making controversial claims regarding several famous musicians that have not always been verified as factual. This includes unsolicited commentary on Beyoncé, Meek Mill, Sean “Diddy” Combs, Mary J. Blige, and more.
In an interview last year with Piers Morgan, Wright claimed Diddy and JAY-Z to be “monsters.” Morgan issued an apology for the interview after a “legal request:” from JAY-Z and Beyoncé.
“Jaguar, unexpectedly, made several serious allegations about JAY-Z and Beyoncé during that interview. As I said in the moment, they were not present to respond or defend themselves, but now they have. Their lawyers contacted us to say that those claims were ‘totally false’ and have no basis in fact, and we’ve therefore complied with a legal request to cut them from the original interview,” detailed Morgan.
Alongside Wright, Ted Nugent, Lt. Col Carolyn Rocco, Lt. Col Theresa M. Long, Lt. Col Stuart Scheller, CDR Robert A. Green Jr., and Former Lt. Col Matthew Lohmeie all received special honors during the event. Mike Tyson was also in attendance for the pool-side reception.
According to the official website, America’s Future, Inc. is led by Flynn who serves as chairman. The organization was founded in New York in 1946 and explains it “is committed to preserving the Judeo-Christian values that make America exceptional.”
The website continues to detail, “Trusting in this foundation, we are not ashamed to proclaim objective truth in a subjective culture. We believe that every mother, father, son, and daughter should have a part in that ongoing legacy, which is why we work to empower grassroots activists to get engaged in their communities.”

Doechii Not Here For The ‘Industry Plant’ Allegations: “It’s Confirmation I’m Doing Something Right”

Doechii is clapping back at critics who label her an “industry plant,” offering a confident response to the speculation surrounding her rapid rise to fame. In an interview with The Cut as the publication’s February 2025 cover star, the Florida-born artist opened up about the conspiracy theories and rumors that have followed her since she began making waves in the music industry.
That industry plant thing is wild. It’s almost as crazy as saying artists who have been simultaneously dominating Hip-Hop, R&B, and pop suddenly are corny. Weird times.
“When people aren’t familiar with the history of an artist these days, they get suspicious,” Doechii explained. “I’m pretty detached emotionally from it because I understand where it’s coming from. And to be honest, once you get any conspiracies around your career, that’s just confirmation that I’m going somewhere, and I’m doing something right.”
ICYMI 2024 marked Doechii’s mainstream breakout year with the release of Alligator Bites Never Heal, which helped her secure the 2025 Grammy Award for Best Rap Album; her path to success has been anything but overnight. She has steadily built her career for years, releasing multiple mixtapes and EPs before signing with Top Dawg Entertainment in 2022. “I woke up one day and told my label, ‘I’m just going to make a mixtape,’” Doechii recalled. “I was able to birth this out of pure presence and creativity, and I think I want to carry that with all of my projects and have that mentality moving forward.”
Despite racking up accolades and years of obvious hard work, Doechii’s Grammy performance sparked fresh criticism, particularly around allegations that she lip-synced her live show. During her performance of “Denial Is a River” and “Catfish” from her critically acclaimed mixtape, the artist once again defended her artistry. Addressing the rumors on TikTok, she didn’t hold back, saying, “I can’t possibly get on here and say calmly or nicely… y’all are stupid as hell — so slow!”
Doechii’s reaction to the industry plant rumors and her Grammy performance controversy highlights her confidence. The scrutiny only fuels her drive to prove the critics wrong.

Victor Wembanyama Expected to Miss Remainder of Season Due to Blood Clot
Victor Wembanyama is expected to miss the remainder of the season after being diagnosed with deep vein thrombosis (DVT) in his right shoulder, the San Antonio Spurs announced Thursday. The condition, a form of blood clot, was discovered after Wembanyama returned from the All-Star Game. Treatment typically involves blood thinners, which generally prevent athletes from participating in contact sports.
A team source told ESPN that the Spurs are optimistic the 20-year-old center will fully recover in time for the 2025-26 season. Wembanyama had been averaging 24.3 points, 11.0 rebounds, 3.7 assists, and a league-leading 3.8 blocks per game over 46 appearances. His absence means he will not meet the 65-game minimum required to qualify for All-NBA, Defensive Player of the Year, and other major awards. He had been the overwhelming favorite to win Defensive Player of the Year, but following the announcement, Memphis Grizzlies forward Jaren Jackson Jr. became the betting favorite.
“It’s tough,” Spurs guard Chris Paul said. “Tough more than anything, I think for all of us, knowing how much he means to our team, but more so knowing how much he means to the game and how much he loves to play.”
Wembanyama’s injury marks the second major setback for the Spurs this season, following head coach Gregg Popovich’s stroke in November, which has kept him away from the team indefinitely.

Senator Mitch McConnell Announces He Will Not Seek Reelection in 2026

Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell announced Thursday he will not seek reelection in 2026, marking the end of a historic political career that helped define the modern Republican Party.
McConnell, who first took office in 1985, made the announcement on his 83rd birthday, calling his time in the Senate “the honor of a lifetime.” His decision comes amid shifting GOP dynamics, particularly as Donald Trump’s influence continues to reshape the party. Despite working together to confirm three conservative Supreme Court justices, McConnell and Trump have clashed in recent years, particularly after McConnell blamed the former president for the January 6 Capitol riot.
McConnell’s leadership has been marked by strategic victories, including blocking Merrick Garland’s Supreme Court nomination in 2016 while rushing through Amy Coney Barrett’s in 2020. He also played a pivotal role in Trump’s two impeachment trials, voting to acquit but later condemning him as “practically and morally responsible” for the insurrection.
His departure leaves a major vacancy in Kentucky politics and the GOP leadership, with speculation already swirling over who will replace him. However, McConnell made it clear that, for now, he’s still focused on the work ahead, telling colleagues, “To the disappointment of my critics, I’m still here on the job.”

Days after Ne-Yo went viral for sharing kisses with his three girlfriends, the fourth lady in his life has been unveiled.
Bri, one of his tour dancers, shared some behind-the-scenes footage of their love life, both of whom are embracing the polyamorous lifestyle. Bri posted footage of the pair working out, enjoying the beach, and sharing PDA every step of the way.
The dancer joins his other three partners, Bella, Phoenix Feather, and Arielle Hill. Despite criticism, Bri defended their situationship online, sharing a photo of Ne-Yo with a message.
“Them: ‘Ne-Yo, we don’t approve of your poly relationship,’” Bri wrote on the image, which shows Ne-Yo wearing a shirt that reads, “Fun fact, I don’t care.”
Phoenix also defended their relationship days ago on social media, writing, “Y’all need to understand over here it’s a solid foundation… just know it’s US VS NOBODY.”
Ne-Yo, a father of seven, has long stood by his decision to be in a polyamorous relationship.
“You should let people do whatever the hell they want to do.” He previously told TMZ, “I don’t recommend anything to anybody—what works for me might not work for you.”
Previously married to Crystal Renay, Ne-Yo’s past relationships have faced turmoil, with exes citing infidelity and an obsession with threesomes. He made headlines for having two children outside of his marriage, leading to his divorce.

Meagan Good Makes Shocking Confession About Coming Home to Her Fiancé Jonathan Majors Lying In Her Mother’s Lap

Meagan Good seems to have fans giving her soon-to-be-husband the side-eye.
On Feb. 12 she joined the series “House Guest” hosted by Scott Evans, where she discussed topics like the final season of her Amazon series “Harlem” and more.
But while discussing her relationship with fiancé Jonathan Majors, Evans asked a harmless question about how Good’s family reacted to their engagement, and her response left some fans stunned.
“Really wonderful,” she said, “Like my mom absolutely adores Jonathan. Like I come in the house and he’s laying in her lap and I’m like that’s my – that’s my place. I’m always going to be sitting in her lap.”
Good stated that Majors also has a bond with her dad, who cuts his hair in the garage sometimes. But the “laying in her mother’s lap” part of her statement is what really threw some fans into a spiral.
Onsite reposted the clip to their Instagram where one person said, “LAP? Huhhh? yeah that can’t be right. Might need to clean my ears up a bit.”
Another wrote, “In her lap ?? Yea idk about that Meg.”
A third said, “I feel like this is tmi…but idk.”
“She said what!?! Their relationship gets W E I R D E R by the day! The timing funny tho,” said a fourth.
In response to fans who called the act “inappropriate,” some suggested that Majors possibly “never experienced love like this.” Still, many were not buying it.
“Ppl saying ppl aren’t raised with love …its a Big Difference u putting ur head on ur own mom’s lap…verses ur man putting his head on Your mother’s lap…thats just inappropriate either way u look at it,” said one social media user. “It’s a red flag and she will ignore it ..and we will all see where this relationship will be in a few years.”
One individual offered a more positive outlook writing, “She just meant he’s like a son to her parents. He’s welcomed even when she’s not around. I’m glad everyone is healthy and healing. God’s good!”
Majors and Good got together in May 2023 in the midst of Majors’ domestic violence case with his ex-girlfriend who accused him of assault. Although Majors avoided jail time he was convicted of misdemeanor assault and harassment charges.
As for Majors and Good, who revealed their engagement last year in November, all appears to be well between the two. Also, Good’s mother isn’t her only family member that has taken a liking to Majors.
She shared a moment with Evans of a time where she caught her man and her father bonding. “My dad doesn’t have any sons, I mean obviously my brother-in-law Eric, said the “Eve’s Bayou” star.
“To come outside and just see him cutting his hair and they’re just out there talking and it’s just quiet and they don’t know anybody is watching them and it made my heart —” cutting herself off, she didn’t finish her statement, but her facial expression showed that the moment truly meant a lot to her.
Good also said her sister and her sister’s husband have a good relationship with Majors as well. So much so that he trains them both.
She said, “The dynamic like my sister and him like that’s his buddy. Him and my sister’s husband Eric like it almost makes me emotional because he’s such a great addition to our family and he’s also made me so much better.”
“She looks happy Devon just got engaged too! They had a very peaceful split,” on commenter said, referring to Good’s ex-husband DeVon Franklin recently announcing his own engagement.
There’s been no word yet on a wedding date for Good and Majors.

LaVar Ball has his right foot amputated
LaVar Ball, well-known father of NBA players Lonzo and LaMelo Ball, had his right foot amputated, according to reports published Wednesday.
Ball, 57, suffered a “serious medical issue” that required the procedure, TMZ reported. The health problems that led to the amputation were unclear.
Notorious for his publicity blitz before his sons were drafted into the NBA, Ball had largely avoided the spotlight in recent years.
Lonzo, 27; LaMelo, 23, and their brother LiAngelo, 26, have not publicly commented on their father’s health. While Lonzo and LaMelo have had successful NBA careers, LiAngelo is now a breakout rap artist.
The entire Ball family starred in a six-season reality series, “Ball in the Family,” from 2017-2020 on Facebook. In addition to chronicling the Ball brothers’ rise to stardom, it also covered a stroke suffered by their mother, Tina, in 2017.
Before he became known for his parenting decisions, LaVar played college basketball at West Los Angeles College, Washington State and Cal State-Los Angeles. He also had a brief stint in the NFL, where he was signed to the practice squads of the New York Jets and Carolina Panthers but never played in a game.
