#MAGFAB: Dua Lipa For Harper’s BAZAAR US Global ‘ICONS’ Issue
For the Harper’s BAZAAR September 2025 ICONS issue, Dua Lipa was photographed by Anthony Seklaoui and styled by Harper’s BAZAAR style director at large, Carlos Nazario, to coincide with her American tour. Lipa spoke with Harper’s BAZAAR features director, Kaitlyn Greenidge, who caught up with Lipa on the European leg of her tour, and found a 30-year-old at the peak of her powers, newly in love, and determined to be a force for good. “You’ve got to f**king keep on the straight line and do something positive,” she says
“I admire that Dua uses her platform to not just bring good vibes to sold-out stadiums of fans or inspire endless outfits with her sparkly stage and street style but also share diverse perspectives from some of the sharpest writers, thinkers, and creative minds through her podcast, newsletters, and website,” says Samira Nasr, Harper’s BAZAAR Editor-in-Chief.

On how she approaches performing and how she wants to make ‘big spaces feel small’: “There’s a moment where I go out into the crowd,” Lipa says, “and that part of me is not the same person that I am when I’m just, like, singing and performing and dancing. When I’m singing the songs, I feel really powerful. The rooms get bigger. I want to make big spaces feel small.”

On being intentional with the things she writes: “I have this firm belief that whatever I write comes true. So I’m always very, very cautious about the things that I write. I’m not trying to put some crazy energy into the world. I’m trying to just be light and have fun and share my experiences.”

On creating art and how once she’s put something out in the world, she feels it no longer belongs to her: “Once I put something out into the world, it no longer belongs to me. You make the thing that you love; you make the thing that you’re passionate about and you’re proud of. You put it out in the world and you have to put your hands up. The people choose. We don’t get to choose.”

On working on her new album: “Sometimes overthinking is a gift,” Lipa says. She’s talking about her next album—new music that she’s thinking about even in the midst of her tour. “Every day I’m making something that sounds completely different from yesterday. Trying to figure out the new direction is probably the most fun part, but it’s also the hardest.”

On being ‘happier than ever’ with fiancé Callum Turner and allowing herself to love: “I love love. It is a beautiful thing. It’s a really inspiring thing. You find yourself so intensely falling all the time in the best way possible. That vulnerability is so scary, but I feel so lucky to get to feel it. I’ve spent a lot of time being guarded or protecting my heart, and so I’m letting go of that feeling and just being like, ‘Okay, if I’m supposed to get hurt, then this is what’s going to happen.’ I have to just allow love.” I ask how it feels to be speaking so candidly about her relationship. “I’m happier than ever, so it feels like I’m doing a disservice by not talking about it. … When you’re a public person, anything that’s very personal is very vulnerable. It’s not like I don’t want to share it.”

Mark Ronson on Dua possessing something increasingly rare in the entertainment space: a unique voice, both literally, in terms of its tone, and metaphorically, in terms of her art: “It’s just undeniable. She just has a God-given thing.”

A few months ago, Ronson and Lipa were recording new material at a studio in New York. “We’ve been making music together for eight years now,” he says, “and she was singing this song. It’s a beautiful lyric about her relationship, and I just said to her, ‘I know this sounds really corny: I feel like I’m watching you now as a woman deliver these new songs and this vocal.’ She was always mature and grown-up, because of the way she grew up so fast. She always had her s**t together. But who she’s become now … this is a new era for her as a songwriter and as a singer and as a human.”

#HipHopNews: Funk Flex Isn’t Leaving NYC’s Hot 97, His Time Slot Is Changing

Funk Flex is staying at Hot 97 but leaving his 7 p.m. slot for a new one.His new show will air from 5 p.m. to 10 p.m. starting after Labor Day.
Hot 97’s schedule is changing, with DJ Enuff out and new slots for Nessa Nitty and DJ Camilo.

On Thursday (Aug. 28), Funk Flex announced his last show on Hot 97 would be on Labor Day, throwing fans into dismay. However, the legendary DJ/rapper/record producer is only switching up his time slot — and there are plenty more other changes at the NYC Hip Hop station, too.

On his socials, Flex wrote, “This Monday, Labor Day, September 1st, [will] be my last show on Hot 97 at 7 p.m.! All things come to an end! End of an era that I enjoyed very much! I super enjoyed it all! I will make the last show a great one! Appreciate everyone who has supported me over the years!”

Fans and artists alike started panicking and reminiscing, saluting Flex for his decades of memories, viral moments and taking hits to the masses. “Thank you for breaking some of my records,” wrote Missy Elliott on X, formerly known as Twitter.

But if you carefully read Flex’s message, he never said he was actually leaving Hot 97 entirely. He specifically said Sept. 1 would be his “last show on Hot 97 at 7 p.m.”

TMZ confirmed the speculation, reporting that Funk Flex is just changing time slots. The Bronx native will now be on the air from 5 p.m. to 10 p.m. after this Labor Day. Also worth noting, Nessa Nitty will be on from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m., while DJ Camilo takes the mix from 5 p.m. to 6 p.m. Unfortunately, longtime mixer DJ Enuff was let go.

The morning show, which features co-host Ebro Darden, will be on from 6 a.m. to 11 a.m. All that to say, after 33 years with the station, Funk Flex isn’t going anywhere.

Rihanna Marks ‘Music Of The Sun’ 20th Anniversary With “20 Years’ Worth Of Thanks” To Her Fans

Rihanna honored the 20th anniversary of Music of the Sun with a heartfelt message to fans and collaborators.
She shared a montage featuring career highlights, from early music videos to her Super Bowl performance.
A limited-edition vinyl box set and merch collection were released to celebrate the milestone.

Rihanna is celebrating two decades of greatness. On Friday (Aug. 29) evening, the singer marked the 20th anniversary of her debut album, Music of the Sun, with a huge thank-you to everyone who’s supported her along the way.

“20 years ago, I left my country, my culture, my food, and family to embark on a journey that started with the release of my very first body of music!” Rihanna wrote on social media. “So many of you were a part of my life and career since the very beginning, and some of you have joined the adventure along the way. I’m forever grateful to all of you. Each of you played a very crucial role in where this journey has taken me thus far!”

Alongside the caption, Rihanna shared a montage revisiting some of her most iconic moments — and there are plenty. The clip included several music videos, such as “SOS” and “Rude Boy,” her award show performances and acceptance speeches, campaigns from her ever-growing Fenty empire, and even a glimpse into her acting career.

Among the more recent clips were her 2023 Super Bowl Halftime Show, the launch of her PUMA Avanti collaboration, and most importantly, snapshots of her life as a mom. “I just wanted to take this moment to say thank you!” Rihanna said.

“Thank you for the greatest first 20 years ever!” she continued. “20 years of the most loyal, die-hard fans that don’t play about me whatsoever, 20 years of hard work and hardworking teams around me, 20 years of lessons, 20 years of unforgettable experiences and accomplishments, 20 years of my family being my No. 1 support system, and to all the people who said yes to me and gave me a chance before it was ‘cool’ to (execs, DJ’s, writers, producers, dancers, choreographers, directors, fashion designers, photographers, glam [teams], journalists, brands, mentors, etc.), 20 years' worth of thanks to you!”
“I thank God. He’s been very generous to me, and the glory belongs to Him!” Rihanna concluded. Also available for pre-order via her website are a layered tee, hoodie, and “Rhenna” doodle doll inspired by the sketch she’s used as her profile picture for the past decade.

Karrueche Tran Says She’s ‘Dating’ After Deion Sanders Romance Rumors
Actress Karrueche Tran quietly confirmed she is dating—and content—during a recent podcast appearance. While she declined to name names, her remarks have only intensified speculation about a possible romance with former NFL superstar and current Colorado Buffaloes coach Deion Sanders.

On the Aug. 28 episode of the What’s Next with J. Ryan podcast, host J. Ryan playfully asked Tran, “Is she dating right now? I saw that you took a liking into football recently.” She responded with a coy smile: “Yeah, I’m dating.” When asked if she was enjoying it, her reply was equally direct: “If I wasn’t having fun, I wouldn’t be in it.” Tran added, “I’m at a point in my life, like, I know what I want. I’ve dated a lot. I’ve done a lot… young, old. And so, if I wasn’t happy and content, and feeling good in my situation, I’m not wasting my time.” She closed with a knowing grin: “So yeah, I’m in a good place.”

Though Tran didn’t mention Sanders by name, the remarks follow widespread attention after she appeared at his bedside in a video documenting his recovery from a bladder cancer surgery earlier this summer. That footage showed Tran offering emotional support, prompting widespread speculation and speculation that only grew stronger after her recent podcast comments.

Sanders, for his part, neither confirmed nor denied any romantic involvement. On a separate podcast appearance, he calmly deflected the question with humor: “We got a bad connection,” he joked when asked about Tran.
With a career built on resilience and reinvention—from her Emmy-winning work on The Bay to her stints on Claws and other series—Tran appears determined to chart her personal life just as intentionally. She emphasized that relationships must align with her happiness and energy, otherwise she’d rather be at home, “namaste, chile, in bed at 9 o’clock doing my own thing.”

At 37, she says she’s avoiding drama and seeking authenticity. “If I wasn’t having fun, I wouldn’t be in it,” she reiterated. The clarity of her candor hints at a fresh, self-assured chapter unfolding—romantic or otherwise.

The Dentist Who Treated Tamar Braxton Gives Details On Her Near Fatal Accident

Singer and reality TV star Tamar Braxton is sharing harrowing details about a recent near-fatal accident that left her hospitalized and reflecting deeply on life.
As previously reported, on Sunday, August 17, 2025, the Grammy-nominated artist was found by a friend lying in a “pool of blood” after suffering severe injuries. In an emotional Instagram post, Braxton revealed she had fractured her nose, lost several teeth, and suffered impaired mobility as a result of the incident. “I struggled to write this but everyone keeps calling me and honestly, I can’t even really talk anymore—I’m so weak,” she wrote. She goes on to say she “almost died Sunday … I was found in a pool of blood … I fractured my nose, lost some teeth and mobility.”

Following the traumatic incident, cosmetic dentist Dr. Amira Ogunleye revealed that she treated Braxton. In a video posted to Instagram, Ogunleye explained she believes the accident may have been caused as a result of sleepwalking.

She says Braxton is still working with medical professionals to understand what triggered the accident, as Tamar has no memory of it.
This isn’t the first time the star has faced a serious health crisis. In 2015, Braxton was forced to withdraw from Dancing with the Stars after developing pulmonary embolisms in her lungs. She later battled a life-threatening flu in 2022 and has been candid about her struggles with mental health, including a 2020 suicide attempt.

Lil Nas X’s Dad Blames Nude Escapade On Fleeting Fame
Lil Nas X was nearly naked and behaving erratically on a Los Angeles street just before sunrise when police took him into custody, but his father says the real story goes deeper than what the cameras caught.
His father, Robert Stafford, a gospel singer from Atlanta, told The Times that the incident was the result of mounting emotional strain, the weight of fame and unresolved family trauma.

“I understand how the music business is,” Stafford said. “It’s like a high. When you get to that level, you want that drug again, you want to hit that high again.”
The 26-year-old rapper, born Montero Hill, was arrested in late August after being spotted wandering Ventura Boulevard in Studio City wearing only cowboy boots and underwear.
Witnesses said he was incoherent, rapping to himself and placing a traffic cone on his head. By the time officers arrived, he had stripped completely and allegedly charged at them, leading to his arrest.

Lil Nas X was briefly hospitalized for what authorities believed could be a drug overdose, then booked into jail. He now faces four felony charges, including three counts of battery on a police officer and one count of resisting an executive officer.
Stafford said his son has struggled with the pressure of supporting others while feeling powerless to help his mother, who has battled addiction for years.
“For a 26-year-old to have to deal with what he’s dealing with — to be a breadwinner for a lot of people, the inability to change his mother’s situation and the pressure he puts on himself…” Stafford said.

He described visiting his son in jail as an emotional moment
“I went to visit him in jail and as soon as I walked through that door, I couldn’t do anything but cry,” Stafford said. “To see my baby boy on the other side of that glass. We shed tears with each other for a minute. And I had to tell him that ‘what you’re going through is normal.’

“We all have breakdowns every now and then, but the difference is, yours get played out in the public eye.”
Stafford believes the arrest could mark a turning point for his son.
“Hopefully, this is a turning point in his mental stability,” he said. “Sometimes God will take you through your worst moment to give you your best moment.”

Lil Nas X has pleaded not guilty. Bail was set at $75,000, with conditions that he avoid illegal substances and enter outpatient treatment.

Kanye West Ordered To Pay Hefty Legal Bill Over Stolen “Donda” Track

Kanye West has just taken a legal hit in Los Angeles, where a federal judge ordered him and his companies to pay $52,015 in attorney fees tied to a copyright dispute over his album, Donda.
The ruling upheld an earlier decision requiring West to pay legal costs after his team refused to cooperate during the discovery phase of a lawsuit filed by Artist Revenue Advocates, LLC.

The group claims that West unlawfully used copyrighted material created by DJ Khalil and three other musicians on two tracks, “Moon” and “Hurricane”—from his 2021 album, Donda— without authorization.
Kanye West credited them as songwriters and producers, but he never received their clearance to use the music, which they say generated at least $15 million in revenue.

West’s and his legal team objected to all 65 of their attempts to obtain key documents and produced no records at all. That led them to ask the court to intervene.
A judge agreed with DJ Khalil and his crew, ordering Kanye West’s companies to hand over the requested materials and pay the legal fees incurred in forcing that outcome.

After reviewing billing records, the magistrate set the amount at just over $52,000.
West’s lawyers pushed back, calling the fee “excessive” and arguing that the songwriters used too many senior attorneys at high hourly rates. They requested that the court reduce the award to $15,000.
The judge wasn’t persuaded and said the number of objections from West’s team justified the time spent by the plaintiff’s lawyers.

The fee order is part of a broader lawsuit that remains active in federal court. The case, filed in 2023, could determine whether West and his companies are liable for copyright infringement related to the two tracks.

Coco Gauff Says Simone Biles Inspired Her To Push Through For US Open Second Round Win
Coco Gauff is one of the sports world’s most prominent rising faces, and she further cemented her star power at this year’s US Open. The Georgia-born talent won her second round match in straight sets against Donna Vekić on Thursday (Aug. 28) and said fellow athlete Simone Biles was her inspiration through the tough matchup.

During a difficult first set, Gauff was left in tears as she fought through the building pressure. The world No. 3-ranked player pushed through and wrapped the match up 7-6(5), 6-2. She became emotional again during her her post-match interview and took the time to acknowledge and thank Biles who was watching in the stands.

“She helped me pull it out. I was just thinking if she can go on a six-inch beam and do that under all the pressure of the world, then I can hit the ball on [this court],” Gauff said.
She said thinking about the trials and tribulations the Olympic gold medalist went through was what gave her the motivation to secure her victory. “It brought me a little bit of calm, just knowing her story with all the things she went through mentally, so she’s an inspiration surely and her presence definitely did help me today,” she added. The camera then panned over to Biles in the crowd who cheered and shouted, “Love you!” Watch the moment below.

During her road to becoming one of the most decorated gymnasts in the world, Biles faced her own set of peaks and valleys. In 2021, she withdrew from several individual events at the Tokyo Olympics after she decided to prioritize her mental health.

Gauff currently leads the WTA Tour with 320 double faults so far this season. She told reporters that she’s feeling confident her performance will be on an upwards trajectory moving forward. “It’s been tough doing it all over and kind of refactoring everything, a motion that I knew very well,” she said, per CNN. “But I know for the future this is the right step forward, and this is the biggest test of them all. It will only get easier from here.”

Psychiatrist Testifies Woman Suing Cardi B Doesn’t Have PTSD, Cites Her recent travels to Hawaii and Mexico

The courtroom drama around Cardi B’s civil assault trial continues. Psychiatrist James Rosenberg testified as a defense witness and told jurors he doesn’t believe the plaintiff, Emani Ellis, suffers from PTSD.
Ellis, a former security guard, claims Cardi scratched her face with a long fingernail during a February 2018 dispute at a medical facility where Cardi was for a pregnancy checkup.

Rosenberg explained that after evaluating Ellis for about six hours in 2023, he found “no significant evidence” that she sustained an emotional injury.
He noted that Ellis reported traveling to Hawaii, Las Vegas, and Mexico, and also taking on a more demanding job since the alleged incident. According to his testimony, those activities are inconsistent with the symptoms of severe PTSD, which often include withdrawing from others, avoiding social interaction, and struggling to maintain employment.

Ellis is suing Cardi B for $24 million in damages. Jurors will return to Los Angeles County Superior Court in Alhambra, California, next week to hear closing arguments.

Mya Details Her Choice to Not Marry and Have Children

Grammy-winning singer and actress Mýa offers a candid reflection on why marriage and children were never priorities in her life. In a recent episode of the Hot & Bothered podcast, hosted by Melyssa Ford, she explored how deeply her early experiences shaped her outlook.
“It’s not even my focus, and it never has been,” Mýa said plainly, when asked whether she had ever desired marriage or parenthood. She credits much of her viewpoint to what she observed growing up. “My mother is an independent thinker. I’ve witnessed a divorce between my parents. I’ve witnessed all kinds of things,” she explained.

Those early observations left a lasting impression. Mýa revealed, “The white wedding dress … I was very fearful of those things,” adding, “I looked elsewhere and probably escaped too much in my work.” She noted that constant travel and demanding schedules in her career would have made traditional relationships difficult. “If I have to be gone 95% of the time … I also can’t show up properly for my significant other,” she said.

Rather than chasing societal norms, Mýa chose creative and personal fulfillment. She said she had to “strip a lot of things that are expected of me on a specific timeline for the society … I’m talking about marriage. I’m talking about kids.” And though some might assume something is wrong if a woman doesn’t follow that path, Mýa stated plainly: “But did I desire it? No, not with what I’ve witnessed.”

Still, she remains open—but unhurried. “Not to say it’s not possible, and I’m not open to it,” Mýa clarified. “I’m open to all things, but right now, I’m on a specific assignment. That’s all.” Reflecting on familial ties, she remarked, “What is that feeling that I get with puppies? Is that going to happen with babies for me? … But I have godchildren, I have nieces, I have nephews … lots of children in my life.

Snoop Dogg Reportedly Faced Backlash at NBC Over LGBTQ+ Comments Before Quiet Instagram Apology
Before Snoop Dogg offered his public apology for controversial comments about LGBTQ+ characters in kids’ movies, insiders say NBC was already holding crisis talks behind the scenes. According to The U.S. Sun, execs at “The Voice” were “furious” and reminded the rapper he represents a “family-friendly, inclusive” show.

“Production had to remind him that he works for an inclusive, apolitical, family-friendly show,” a source told the outlet. “Comments like this only go on to create a divisive environment… It just makes contestants and even some crew members not feel like the set is a safe space.”

The backlash followed Snoop’s remarks on the podcast “It’s Giving,” where he expressed being “scared to go to the movies” after seeing LGBTQ+ representation in “Lightyear” with his grandson.
“I didn’t come here for this s**t! I just came to watch the godd**n movie,” he said. “These are kids, that we have to show that at this age? They’re going to ask questions. I don’t have the answers.”

After public criticism, Snoop took to an Instagram comment section, saying, “I was just caught off guard and had no answer for my grandsons…all my gay friends [know] what’s up…they been calling me with love…my bad for not knowing the answers for a 6 year old.”
Despite his apology, sources claim his relationship with the show is strained: “This is exactly why Snoop is already on the outs with the show.”

Lizzo Calls Out Airlines Charging ‘Bigger Bodied’ People For Extra Seats, Tells Body Shamers ‘STFU’
Lizzo has a message about minding your own body. In a recent TikTok video, the Grammy-winning singer spoke out against airlines charging plus-size passengers for extra seats, calling the move a “fascism indicator.” Her comment comes just days after Southwest Airlines announced they would be implementing a policy requiring larger passengers to purchase additional seating.

Lizzo, who’s been a longtime advocate for body acceptance, also addressed the backlash surrounding weight loss dr*gs. She slammed critics who call the use of medication “cheating,” calling that label both “unnecessary” and “a lie.”

Ultimately, Lizzo urged people to stop commenting on other people’s health or weight journeys, signing off with a blunt message:
“How about we all mind our own bodies. STFU.”

Man Pulls a Knife on Travis Scott & Tyla's UK Video Set
Travis Scott and Tyla's UK video set invaded by a knife wielding thug...According The Sun
US superstar Travis Scott’s music video set was targeted by a man who “threatened to stab” a member of the crew.
He was arrested and taken into police custody as the Metropolitan Police continue to investigate the incident.
Travis, 34, who headlined Reading and Leeds last weekend, was filming the new video with South African singer Tyla, 23.
She was on set filming a scene when the man walked onto the set and caused a commotion.
An onlooker told The Sun that when confronted, the man is alleged to have pulled out a blade.
They said: “Travis and Tyla’s music video was being filmed on a quiet street but with all the crew and security, it attracted a lot of attention.

“Tyla was filming some scenes about 40 yards away when this man kept walking onto the set.
“A member of the crew approached him and asked him to leave and that is when he started being threatening and pulled out what looked like a knife.
“It was terrifying for everyone. Travis was already shut away and Tyla was taken off set. It all went into lockdown and the police were called.”
On Thursday the Metropolitan Police confirmed they were investigating.
In a statement a spokesperson said: “A man flagged down officers in Willan Road, N17, on Wednesday, 27 August to report that a man had threatened to stab him.

“Officers searched the area and stopped a man, aged 29, matching the suspect’s description.
“The man resisted the search and so he was placed in handcuffs. Officers recovered class B drugs and cash. No knife was found.
“He was arrested on suspicion of possession of a class B drug and section 4A of the public order act.
“He was taken to a north London police station where he remains in custody.
“Enquiries continue.”

California Highway Patrol to protect Kamala Harris after Trump pulls Secret Service detail, sources say

Former Vice President Kamala Harris will receive protection from the California Highway Patrol after President Trump revoked her Secret Service protection, law enforcement sources said Friday.
California officials put in place a plan to provide Harris with dignitary protection after Trump ended an arrangement that gave his opponent in last year’s election extended Secret Service security coverage.

Trump signed a memorandum on Thursday ending Harris’ protection as of Monday, according to sources not authorized to discuss the security matter.
Former vice presidents usually get Secret Service protection for six months after leaving office, while ex-presidents get protection for life. But before his term ended, then-President Biden signed an order to extend Harris’ protection beyond six months to July 2026. Aides to Harris had asked Biden for the extension. Without it, her security detail would have ended last month, according to sources.

Gov. Gavin Newsom, who would need to sign off on such CHP protection, would not confirm the arrangement. “Our office does not comment on security arrangements,” said Izzy Gordon, a spokesperson for Newsom. “The safety of our public officials should never be subject to erratic, vindictive political impulses.”
The decision came after Newsom’s office and Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass were in discussions Thursday evening on how best to address the situation. Harris resides in the western portion of Los Angeles.

Bass in a statement, said “This is another act of revenge following a long list of political retaliation in the form of firings, the revoking of security clearances and more. This puts the former Vice President in danger and I look forward to working with the governor to make sure Vice President Harris is safe in Los Angeles.”

The Secret Service, CHP and Los Angeles Police Department do not discuss details of dignity protection in terms of deployment, numbers and travel teams. CNN first reported the removal of Harris’ protection detail. Sources familiar with Harris’ security arrangements would not say how long the CHP would provide protection.

The curtailing of Secret Service protection comes as Harris is about to begin a book tour for her memoir, titled “107 Days.” The tour has 15 stops, which include visits to London and Toronto. The book title references the short length of her presidential campaign. The tour begins next month.

Harris, the first Black woman to serve as vice president, was the subject of an elevated threat level — particularly when she became the Democratic presidential contender last year. The Associated Press reports, however, a recent threat intelligence assessment by the Secret Service conducted on those it protects, such as Harris, found no red flags or credible evidence of a threat to the former vice president.

During his second term, Trump stripped Secret Service protection from several one-time allies turned critics, including his former national security adviser John Bolton, former Secretary of State Mike Pompeo, both of whom have been targeted by Iran. In March, he ended Secret Service protection for Biden’s children — Hunter and Ashley Biden — who both had been granted extended protection by their father.

Harris’ predecessor, former Vice President Mike Pence, did not have extended Secret Service protection beyond the standard six months.
Harris, a former senator, state attorney general and San Francisco district attorney, announced earlier this year she won’t seek to run for California governor in 2026.
During last year’s campaign, Trump faced two assassination attempts, including the July 2024 rally in Butler, Pa., where a Secret Service countersniper shot a gunman dead after he fired eight shots, killing an attendee, wounding two others and grazing Trump’s right ear.
