#RHOBH: The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills alum Garcelle Beauvais addresses 'auntie' label and Bravo controversy
Garcelle Beauvais has become the queen of Lifetime. Earlier this year, it was announced that her partnership with the network had been extended she was now set to star in and executive produce two new television films. She’s continuing on with bringing necessary subject matters to life through films.
In her latest role in Taken at a Truck Stop: A Black Girl Missing Movie, Beauvais stars as Kai, “a tough, tenacious trucker and co-owner of her family’s business is thrown into a harrowing manhunt after her sister Madison’s (Marci T. House) neurodivergent daughter, Toy (Sierra Sidwell), is abducted by an online predator. When law enforcement hits a dead end, Kai leverages her loyal trucking network and social media influence to launch a grassroots rescue mission to find her niece. The gripping story underscores the realities of online exploitation, the strength of community, and the inequities in media coverage of missing girls of color. This installment of the Black Girl Missing franchise continues to shine a spotlight on stories too often overlooked. for its unflinching portrayal of the disparities in missing persons cases involving Black women and girls.”
Nowadays, the actress is also giving no apologies for walking away from the Real Housewives franchise. Blavity’s Shadow and Act spoke with Beauvais about her work with Lifetime, and why she knew it was time to choose herself.
Your deal with Lifetime has expanded and you’re not only acting in films, but also producing. What makes this partnership so fruitful?
Garcelle Beauvais: They got the message of what we wanted to do with the Black Girl Missing movie in the first place. They get the message, they have the fan base, they have the demographics that we want to reach, and it was just a no-brainer. The collaboration is easy. It’s really great and we’ve expanded and it’s great working with Lifetime. Honestly, I have nothing bad to say.
Now, the Black Girls Missing series has been critically acclaimed. Ironically, I’m on the East Coast, and we dealt with our own unfortunate Black and missing case with Kada Scott that had a devastating ending. Do you think that through programming like Lifetime’s, more eyes have been centered on stories of color, because historically we know that that has not been the case?
Yes, absolutely. I think Lifetime being the champion for our franchise has helped tremendously. And I also think that the awareness — I think people didn’t realize the disparity of when Black and brown people go missing, that we don’t get the same coverage, the same urgency, the same compassion. And I think it started getting people to talk about it, to see it, and I hope that we can continue doing so until we can hopefully no longer have to do it.
Now let’s talk about preparing for this specific role. I’m sure as a mom, it wasn’t difficult to understand the character, but what did you do to prepare for this role? It’s a little bit more down and dirty too, and I am considering that’s what I loved about it.
Yeah, that’s what I loved about it. I loved playing Kai. I love who she is. I love that she’s a badass, no-nonsense type of girl, but I also love the family aspect of this movie, her relationship with her sister. Sister relationships [and] family relationships are complicated and complex, and I love the relationship with her niece, and I have great relationships with my nieces. And I think it’s important to show family, but also to see that these two sisters inherited their dad’s trucking company, which normally you don’t picture women as truckers, but let me tell you, there’s a huge community of women truckers and I have a newfound respect for them, what they do, the danger of the job, the loneliness of the job, the missing out on family things and important dates because they’re on the road. So I loved a lot of things about it, including the storytelling of it. And then also Toy being neurodivergent, showing a little bit of that and showing that you can still function, it’s not a taboo thing.
Now, how did you go about balancing the multiple roles in this film, because you’re obviously a star in it, and also an EP.
Yeah, I try to compartmentalize. When I’m on set, I’m an actor. We made all the decisions prior to getting on set. Obviously, the director, the budget, locations, the actors, all those things were already set in place. And listen, I don’t do it by myself. There’s other producers. So when I’m on set, I’m an actor unless something crazy happens and they need my input on something, but it’s been really, really great. It stretched me in so many ways, even though I’ve been in the industry for a long time. Being a producer has taught me so much that I didn’t know that went into productions, because as an actor you show up, you do your lines, you do your character work, but it’s been really, really cool to learn so much more.
One of the things that has been—every time I speak with you that’s been fascinating and like just very exciting to watch is that obviously after some time, because for some time you were focused on motherhood and you were acting here and there, but you really had an amazing resurgence in terms of acting, producing and hosting. Your career is really on fire, and you know we know that you are a bomb auntie of a certain age that you do not look,
If there is a word I hate, it’s the word auntie unless I’m really your auntie, and unless I’m related to you.
We use it as a term of endearment
No, I know.
We’ll just say that you’re an icon, OK?
I like that.
We know that you’re just everything and your career is on fire. So are you taking everything in? And how do you feel that you’ve been able to combat the ageism that we know is in Hollywood?
Thank you for all the things that you just said. It’s interesting because I have a friend of mine, every now and then she’ll call me and she goes, ‘Have you sat in your accomplishment? Take a moment and sit and just take them in.’ And that’s the only time I do when she reminds me to, because, I am a hustler. So I’m always like, what’s next? And I love what I do. I didn’t know this world existed when I was a little girl, when I was growing up, I had no idea. So I really love what I do. And obviously, motherhood is the most important, and my boys now need me less and less and less, which I don’t like, but it’s giving me the opportunity to sort of branch out and do more because they’re growing up.
Before I let you go, obviously, we have to get into some Housewives stuff. Now there are some hot topics with everything going on with Wendy Osefo on The Real Housewives of Potomac and her recent arrest and fraud charges. What do you think about this Housewives to prison pipeline we see going on?
I think it’s really sad. I think it’s really sad, and the job of a reality show is we’re in a fish bowl. Everybody thinks they know everything. They wanna know everything. They want to digest everything about you, that if you’re not doing anything on the up and up, it’s gonna be found out because it’s a fish bowl. It’s really difficult. And, I hate to see it. I hate to see it.
You left The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills. I was sad to see you go because of course you’re one of my favorites, but I feel like collectively we were all so proud that you left and that you took a stand for something that you believed in, which we don’t necessarily see all the time in reality television. Looking back, did you feel supported by the Network and by the cast? Did you feel as if that was a safe space for you, especially with you making the groundbreaking history that you made as the first Black full-time housewife on that franchise?
I can’t speak to a lot of that because I’m working on something, but definitely supported by the network for sure. It was just time. I had to choose me. And sometimes we have to choose us, and so it was time for me to choose me.
And what are you looking forward to doing next? Because we obviously spoke about, you know, your resurgence and you doing all this acting and hosting. What are you looking to really dig your teeth into?
I am having a ball with producing, so I’m hoping to produce more. I know I will. I just sold a couple of shows, so I really just want to continue on this ride and have fun, enjoy my family and work and play a little bit in between.
And would you do reality television again? Maybe have your own. I mean, you do have such an interesting family dynamic.
No. I would host a reality show, but I won’t be in one.

#NewMusicVideo from Ari Lennox - Under The Moon
Four days ago, Ari Lennox shared the haunting visual for her latest single, ‘Under the Moon’. #HipHopNews: Donald Trump’s Granddaughter Dances To Nicki Minaj, Queen Approves
Nicki Minaj is loved worldwide, but seeing Donald Trump’s granddaughter as a fan? That’s pretty random.
Kai Trump recently was doing a TikTok trend that had the Queens ‘ “Beez In The Trap” song. Trump’s granddaughter, alongside her friend Emma Markin, was rapping their hearts out to Nicki’s chorus. An online user reposted the video on X and tagged Nicki Minaj. This is where the legendary female rapper saw the video. Sending Kai and Emma a heart emoji for supporting the song.
This is not the first time Minaj showed the Trump family love, as she shouted out the president earlier in the month, “Flattering photos are allowed to be posted of me again. Thanks, POTUS. Epiphany had politicians thinking she would lead them to victory. Had Live Nation thinking she knew her sh*t. How much money did VP Harris have stacked up for her campaign, again? Yikes.”
In other news, the Starships rapper has been beefing with Jay-Z, which resulted in her putting new music on ice. She alleged that Hov and Roc Nation have allegedly tried to blackball her. Also adding a jab at Jay’s failed attempt at getting a Casino in NY, “They came BEGGING the QUEEN for a tour & album & I said NOPE!!!!! LMFAO. Wanted to patch it up. They needed help from the QUEEN & the BARBZ. I called the Barbz on the secret BARB phone & it was resounding NOOOOOOOO. Just like the casinoooooooooo”.

D’Angelo Remembered: Stevie Wonder & Kim Burrell Lead Musical Tributes at His Funeral

Family, friends, and fellow artists gathered in Richmond, Virginia, to honor the life and legacy of Michael Eugene “D’Angelo” Archer, the Grammy-winning neo-soul singer who passed away on October 14, 2025, following a battle with pancreatic cancer. The Celebration of Life service was held at Saint Paul’s Baptist Church in Henrico, Virginia, where D’Angelo’s career and spiritual journey first began.
The ceremony included a video montage titled “Another Life: The Enduring Art of Michael Archer,” directed by Brennan “Will Coloan” Williams and Lisa Mabry Pulley, alongside tributes and performances that reflected D’Angelo’s deep musical roots. The service was officiated by Bishop Ralland V. Robinson Sr. of New Birth Fellowship Ministries.
Musical tributes were led by Stevie Wonder, Kim Burrell, and The Soultronics & The Vanguard — longtime collaborators of the late artist. Burrell performed “Total Praise,” while Wonder, joined by harpist Brandee Younger, offered renditions of “If It’s Magic,” “The Lord’s Prayer,” and “As.” The performances served as the emotional centerpiece of the service, honoring D’Angelo’s lasting influence on modern soul and R&B.
The program’s acknowledgements listed family members Michael D’Angelo Archer, Imani Archer, Morocco Archer, Luther Archer Jr., and Rodney Archer, as well as close friends, collaborators, and industry peers including Questlove, Marcus Bryant, Melody Short, Dr. Jamal Bryant, Sanaa Lathan, and Breyon Prescott. Pallbearers included Sundiata Archer, Eric Brown, Bakari Cox Muwahkil, Michael Smith, Brian Cox, Wendell Gabriel Cox, and Dan Fairley.
The service concluded with the message printed on the back of the program: “Through music, love, and light, Michael D’Angelo Archer’s spirit will shine forever.” It was a fitting farewell for a musician whose voice, vision, and authenticity defined a generation and whose legacy continues to shape the sound of soul today.

HE'S STILL THE KING! Michael Jackson tops list of highest-paid deceased celebrities
Michael Jackson might have left the world in 2009, but his impact—and income—keep growing like he never stopped performing. According to Forbes, the King of Pop was once again named the highest-paid dead celebrity of 2025, earning an incredible $105 million over the past year. That’s more than any other late icon by a wide margin.
Since his passing, Jackson’s estate has brought in $3.5 billion, keeping his name on top not only as a music legend but also as a financial powerhouse. “When it comes to estate earnings, it’s MJ, then an enormous canyon, then everybody else,” an estate attorney told Forbes.
Much of this year’s fortune came from the 2024 sale of half of Jackson’s master recordings and publishing catalog to Sony Music for $600 million. The deal also included a new royalty structure giving the estate a bigger piece of global profits from his music.
Not everyone was thrilled about it—Jackson’s mother, Katherine Jackson, argued the sale went against her son’s wishes. But the agreement secured Jackson’s catalog as one of the most valuable in history.
This kind of deal is nothing new for MJ. Back in 1985, he shocked the industry by buying the ATV Music catalog, which included The Beatles’ Lennon-McCartney songbook, for $47.5 million. When that catalog sold to Sony in 2016, it earned $750 million—worth about $1 billion today. Talk about a smart move.
Jackson’s legacy goes far beyond music royalties. His 2009 posthumous concert film This Is It grossed $267 million at the box office, while Michael Jackson: The Immortal World Tour by Cirque du Soleil made another $160 million, becoming the top live show of 2012.
In Las Vegas, Michael Jackson ONE has surpassed 5,000 performances at Mandalay Bay and is now extended through 2030. On Broadway, MJ: The Musical continues to thrill audiences, earning nearly $300 million worldwide since its 2022 debut, with five productions running around the globe in 2025.
And there’s more on the way. The highly anticipated biopic Michael, starring Jackson’s nephew Jaafar Jackson, is set to premiere in April 2026. Industry insiders expect it to spark another wave of interest—and, of course, another surge in sales.
Even surrounded by other music greats on Forbes’ list—like Prince, John Lennon, and Bob Marley—Jackson still stands alone. Together, the top-earning deceased celebrities brought in $541 million before taxes, but MJ’s cut towers above the rest.
Whether on stage, screen, or streaming, Michael Jackson remains the ultimate symbol of posthumous success. The King of Pop’s crown isn’t going anywhere anytime soon.
Patti LaBelle Sells Her Music Catalog To Primary Wave

Patti Labelle recently inked a deal with Primary Wave for the income stream from her royalties, according to the company.
Although Primary Wave did not disclose financial details of the acquisition, the company reported that the royalties will come from LaBelle’s entire catalog. LaBelle’s catalog includes 18 studio albums and three live albums.
LaBelle is one of the greatest vocalist of all-time best known for hits like “If Only You Knew,” “On My Own,” “New Attitude” “If Only You Knew,” “On My Own,” “New Attitude” and “Lady Marmalade.”
Recorded in 1974 by LaBelle, “Lady Marmalade” topped the Billboard Hot 100. Christina Aguilera, Mya, Pink, and Lil’ Kim covered for the movie Moulin Rouge! in 2001. The Library of Congress selected LaBelle’s version for the National Recording Registry in 2020.
In a recent interview, Queen Latifah shared how Labelle helped during her career.
“There’s always people along the way who help you and I think that Patti LaBelle was one of those people that helped me actually stay in the business,” Queen Latifah said.
“I’m sure you can imagine how this can be when someone is like, ‘Queen Latifah, I heard about your brother. Can I get an autograph?’ I’m like same sentence? What?! And I was like, ‘Y’all don’t really know how I feel,” she continued. “Y’all don’t care.’ And I was about to walk away from it for a second, and Patti was one of those people who had talked to me and who had been through things like that and was like, ‘Listen. Don’t give up. You just keep staying on your path. You’re going to get through this.’”
“We are so honored to be in business with a legend such as Ms. LaBelle,” Primary Wave’s Steven Greener said in a statement. “She’s a true icon and trailblazer. We are looking forward to doing great things together.”

#BoxOfficeNews: Halloween Box Office: ‘Regretting You,’ ‘Black Phone 2’ Lead Worst Weekend of 2025
Ticket sales nearly ground to a halt without any new releases, as well as the misfortune of the spooky holiday landing on Friday (meaning families were trick-or-treating, not visiting their local movie theater). Another distraction was Saturday night’s Major League Baseball championships, which saw the Los Angeles Dodgers score a victory over the Toronto Blue Jays in a nail-biting Game 7. As a result, revenues between Friday and Sunday amounted to just $49 million, marking the worst weekend of the entire year, according to Comscore.
“The cavalry cannot get here soon enough,” says Comscore’s head of marketplace trends, Paul Dergarabedian. “The industry is in dire need of a boost [after] this scary-slow World Series-impacted, Halloween-festivity-laden weekend. It’s emblematic of what has been a quiet post-summer moviegoing corridor.”
Another scary stat: This closes out the lowest-grossing October in 27 years with domestic earnings stalling at an abysmal $425 million, the poorest haul since October 1997 with $385 million, not adjusted for inflation. This ignominious record doesn’t include 2020, when theaters hadn’t rebounded from the pandemic.
Although Halloween is traditionally a moribund period at the box office, October is usually the time when studios start to launch their awards hopefuls. Instead of providing a box office jolt, though, Oscar contenders and big-budget tentpoles alike, such as Dwayne Johnson’s “The Smashing Machine,” Luca Guadagnino’s “After the Hunt,” Disney’s “Tron: Ares” and “Springsteen: Deliver Me From Nowhere” struggled to show signs of life.
In a surprise win, the Colleen Hoover adaptation “Regretting You” rose to No. 1 with $8.1 million from 3,424 theaters in its sophomore outing. However, Universal’s “Black Phone 2” was ever-so-slightly behind with $8 million from 3,305 venues — so the final order could shift when final numbers are confirmed on Monday.
“Regretting You” declined just 41% from its debut, bringing ticket sales to $27.5 million in North America and $50 million globally against a $30 million budget. Hoover is the author of last year’s sleeper hit “It Ends With Us.” Two of her other novels, “Verity” and “Reminders of Him,” are being adapted by other studios for theatrical release in 2026.
“Black Phone 2” has grossed $61 million domestically and $104 million globally to date. The scary sequel is this year’s only Blumhouse release to get anywhere near the $100 million mark, though “Five Nights at Freddy’s 2” in December will attempt to continue the good fortunes.
In another potential photo finish, Netflix’s “KPop Demon Hunters” re-release likely tied for No. 3 with Sony and Crunchyroll’s “Chainsaw Man – The Movie: Reze Arc,” with both films estimating a $6 million weekend haul.
Netflix isn’t reporting grosses for “KPop Demon Hunters,” which played 2,890 theaters over the weekend, so projections hail from rival studios and exhibitors. This is the second big-screen stint for the animated musical, which first screened theatrically in August (after becoming Netflix’s most popular film ever) and led in North America with roughly $18 million.
“Chainsaw Man – The Movie: Reze Arc,” which topped the box office last weekend, has grossed $30 million in North America to date. Like many anime films, “Chainsaw Man” has been much bigger at the international box office, with earnings at $109 million overseas and $139 million globally.
In fifth place, “Bugonia,” the latest collaboration between director Yorgos Lanthimos and star Emma Stone, successfully expanded nationwide with $4.8 million from 2,043 theaters. The film, in which Stone portrays a high-powered tech CEO who is kidnapped by two conspiracy theorists who believe she is an extraterrestrial being sent to destroy Earth, earned a “B” grade on CinemaScore exit polls. However, that kind of middling reception isn’t unusual for a polarizing film, as Lanthimos is wont to make. Ticket buyers were mostly younger males, with men accounting for 61% of audiences and 24 to 34-year-olds representing 39% of crowds.
Elsewhere, “Back to the Future” returned to theaters in honor of the film’s 40th anniversary and collected a respectable $4.7 million from 2,105 theaters over the weekend. “The Twilight Saga” also made its way back to the big screen to celebrate the 20th anniversary of the publishing of author Stephanie Meyer’s first novel. Theaters are playing one of the five “Twilight” films each night between Oct. 29 and Nov. 2, which have collectively accounted for roughly $3 million from 1,500 locations.
Next weekend sees the debut of Disney’s “Predator: Badlands,” followed by heist threequel “Now You See Me: Now You Don’t” and Edgar Wright and Glen Powell’s “The Running Man” remake. But business might not pick up in earnest until the Thanksgiving corridor when Disney’s “Zootopia 2” and Universal’s “Wicked: For Good” float to theaters. Then James Cameron’s “Avatar: Fire and Ash” on Dec. 19 is expected to end the year with a bang.
“Early November releases will be most welcome,” says Dergarabedian. “But mid-November through New Year’s Eve will be vitally important [for] the industry.”

Mo’Nique Wants ‘Public Open Conversation’ With Tyler Perry & Oprah

Mo’Nique is once again asking for transparency — this time, in front of the world.
During a recent appearance on The 85 South Show, the Oscar-winning actress and comedian said she still wants a public, open conversation with Tyler Perry and Oprah Winfrey about long-standing issues she believes affected her career.
“My knees don’t buckle. I don’t waver from what I know is right. I don’t waver from the truth,” Mo’Nique said. “So if that has to be public, I’m okay with that.”
She added that she’s still waiting for both Perry and Winfrey to agree to the conversation, saying:
“I’m still waiting for Tyler Perry, still waiting for Oprah Winfrey to say, ‘Let’s have this public open conversation. Don’t run. Don’t run.’”
According to Mo’Nique, the tension stems from her decision not to travel internationally to promote Precious — the 2009 film that Perry and Winfrey co-produced alongside director Lee Daniels. She has long claimed that the fallout from that decision led to her being blacklisted in Hollywood.
Mo’Nique also addressed the long-running narrative that she’s “hard to work with,” saying that label originated from Tyler Perry himself.
“For the people that said I’m hard to work with — they’ve not worked with me,” she explained. “But when you have a man named Tyler Perry saying, ‘She’s difficult to work with,’ and you’ve never worked with me, that cost me twelve years of my career.”

Jayden Daniels will reportedly ‘miss several games’ with dislocated elbow; MRI on Monday will reveal more
The Washington Commanders were getting blown out in prime time Sunday, and then it got much, much worse. Quarterback Jayden Daniels, who was still in the game and running the ball in the fourth quarter despite the Commanders trailing the Seattle Seahawks by 31 points, was spun around on a tackle and landed awkwardly on his left non-throwing arm.
It was a graphic injury, which was a dislocated elbow, according to ESPN. Teammates surrounded him on the field as he got looked at by the athletic training staff. Daniels had a temporary cast put on his left arm, he walked to the sideline and to the locker room.
Monday began with a glimmer of hope when NFL Network reported Daniels’ injury is “not as bad as it could have been,” and he’ll “miss several games.” An MRI later Monday will reveal the full extent of the damage.
The Seahawks ended up winning Sunday night, 38-14.
In his postgame news conference head coach Dan Quinn said it was a left elbow injury but he had no further information. As for leaving Daniels in the game with the outcome already decided, Quinn said he didn't consider pulling him, but he was upset by the injury.
"I’m gutted by it. Bummed," Quinn said. "It’s a bummer, man, in a big way."
Quinn said the play during which Daniels was injured wasn't a designed quarterback run, and he would usually hand it off or throw it short.
"If we run it 50 times, it's either a handoff or a throw I'd say 50 times," Quinn said.
It's not Daniels' first injury this season. He had missed time with knee and hamstring injuries. The NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year from last season was making his return to the lineup Sunday night. The game itself wasn't going well for the Commanders, but with the outcome not in doubt and less than eight minutes left, Washington saw its star quarterback suffer a brutal injury.
Other quarterbacks, such as Joe Burrow of the Cincinnati Bengals, have dealt with injuries in part because the team might not be providing good enough play around them. Having seen Daniels get injured multiple times this season, Quinn said the team will give him the support Daniels needs.
"It’s really important we get that part right, and we will," Quinn said.
Quinn will be questioned for why he had his star quarterback, who has missed multiple games already due to injury this season, still playing in a game that was out of hand.
The Commanders, who made the playoffs last season with a 12-5 record during Daniels' magical rookie season, already had five losses coming into Sunday's game, and they were down 31-7 by halftime. A lot went right last season for the Commanders and Daniels, but that fortune has turned sour.

Mass Shooting Erupts During Teen Birthday Party At Illegal Airbnb Rental

Akron law enforcement and fire crews responded to multiple 911 calls just after midnight Sunday (November 2) reporting shots fired at a residence in the 900 block of Top Of The Hill Drive. The massive party, filled mostly with juveniles, had been promoted on social media and drew a crowd that quickly spiraled out of control at the “very large home.”
By the time officers arrived, most partygoers had fled the scene. First responders found victims suffering from gunshot wounds and other injuries scattered across the first floor of the house, with shell casings littering the crime scene as officers worked to secure the property.
“Officers responded at around midnight to reports of gunfire at a residence,” Bath Township Police confirmed in their investigation update.
The shooting has left the Bath Township community reeling, with authorities revealing that Airbnb rentals are actually banned in the town. The homeowner now faces serious questions about how the illegal party was allowed to happen on their property.
Police are actively seeking suspects in connection with the mass shooting and continue their investigation into the circumstances that led to the violence at what should have been a simple birthday celebration.
All nine victims were transported to area hospitals for treatment of their injuries, though the extent of their conditions has not been released by authorities.
Mayor Shammas Malik has pledged full city support for the ongoing investigation.
“Those who perpetrate violence anywhere in our community must be held accountable for their action,” he said in a social media post. “This kind of deadly behavior cannot be normalized. In addition, the reports of so many young people at a rented house party are very concerning.
“As we learn more about the situation that occurred last night, it appears to be part of a broader issue – helping make sure youth across our community are safe.”

People Are Upset Over Winnie Harlow's "Distasteful" Whitney Houston Costume
Winnie first paid homage to Whitney by dressing up as her in the "I Wanna Dance With Somebody" music video before later recreating Whitney's appearance at the 2001 BET Awards, when Whitney took the stage to accept the Lifetime Achievement Award. At the time, Whitney was facing intense scrutiny and speculation about her drug use, which was amplified by her visibly thin appearance and energetic behavior during the show.
Whitney never publicly addressed the reaction to her appearance — though she later admitted to previously using drugs in a 2002 interview with Diane Sawyer, including marijuana and cocaine. She died in 2012 from an accidental drowning, with heart disease and cocaine use listed as contributing factors.
One commenter wrote, "If this was a reenactment of a more positive part of Whitney's career and impact on the earth I would be ok with you pretending to be her every now and then because you did such a good job. I think you should do a positive one."
Another person wrote on X, "um. i think she's an asshole for this. she made a 'costume' & is reenacting a time when Whitney was in the throws of addiction."
"She picked the most distasteful moment to 'honor' her," someone said, as another person called the costume "not cute" nor "fun," "especially knowing what we know now."
Others agreed that the costume missed the mark: "Something about this feels disrespectful. Idk. Maybe I’m too woke."
"seems like she's mocking her," another X user said, while one more added, "She owes everyone an apology for this nonsense."
Winnie addressed the backlash on her Instagram story, saying that she meant to celebrate Whitney, not mock her. "That clip has always been one of my favorites," she said. "She was radiant, funny, confident, and captivating. She was being awarded. The way she moved across that stage with flair and swag? Iconic."

Winnie also shared a personal connection to Whitney. "My mother is one of her biggest fans and named me Whitney after her," she shared. "That's my real legal name. She's always been a queen in my house."
She then concluded the post by saying, "People are more than headlines. A woman who could command a room, make you laugh & carry herself like royalty. If all you see when you see Whitney are her struggles, you're missing her charisma, humor, talent, personality, & wit. She was hilarious & magnetic. THAT is and what should always be highlighted. The light that made us all love her attention to positivity."

Pastor Marvin Winans Perfecting Church is Demanding an Apology From Roberta McCoy

Perfecting Church parishioner Roberta McCoy walked back her support of Pastor Marvin Winans after initially defending his actions.
Last month, McCoy sat down with a local news station to defend Pastor Winans after he rebuked her for donating $1,235 instead of the $2,000 he asked for.
McCoy explained that Pastor Winans did not rebuke her, he simply corrected her for getting in the wrong donation line.
“He absolutely did not rebuke me,” McCoy insisted. “Now there’s a difference. There was a correction because let me clearly state that pastor gave instruction on the lines to get into.”
She added: “There was a correction, not a rebuke.”
Many Americans expressed support and compassion for McCoy – until she defended Pastor Winans.
However, McCoy walked back her defense of the mega-church pastor. In an emotional post on Facebook, McCoy said she was ordered to apologize to Pastor Winans for making him look bad.
McCoy said she has become “invisible” in the Detroit church community. She said they used her for “damage control” purposes. Then they turned their backs on her.
“It’s like I’m turning invisible now. I’m no longer useful to them. I served their purpose. I was only damage control. They wanted to protect the name. Protect the brand. Their calls of “concern” stopped when the media “storm” stopped. I see that with wide open eyes now. They turned on me. They blame me!!!”

Additionally, McCoy says the mega-church pews were half empty after the controversy went viral last month.
“Did you see the empty seats on Sunday at 10:45 [a.m.]?” she wrote.
“People are appalled and tired of being mistreated in churches. Do you know what would bring people back to church in great numbers? I think seeing the human side of a pastor. I think if they saw a Pastor who was not prideful, but who was humble, like Jesus, and just said he was sorry for the offense. I think that would bring a lot of people back to churches all over the world.”

'Wicked' Director Jon M Chu Reacts to Ariana Grande & Cynthia Erivo's Matching Tattoos
Ariana Grande re-shared a photo of one of her matching tattoos with Cynthia Erivo.
In a post celebrating the upcoming release of Wicked: For Good in a few weeks, the Oscar nominated actress and singer shared a pic of their “For Good” palm tattoos.
Ariana previously debuted these tattoos back in December 2023.
However, after reposting them this weekend, director Jon M Chu shared on his Instagram story that he advised them to maybe wait to get the tattoos.
“I cautioned them to maybe wait to get any tattoos about the movie until AFTER they see it… but they opted to ignore me and got them on like days 3 of rehearsals,” he wrote.
“LOL i remember you saying this and being like ‘omg …. what does THAT MEAN ?????????’ But it was about what we were experiencing and creating and feeling in our hearts, not about the end result !” one of the ladies responded.
There was also a fact check. “hello fun fact these and the poppies we got the evening after we shot ‘for good’ and then the first round was done right after we shot popular”
During the press tour for the first movie last year, Ariana and Cynthia gave Kelly Clarkson a Wicked tattoo tour. Watch here!
The Wicked: For Good worldwide press tour and premieres are kicking off later this week. The first stop is on Tuesday (November 4) in Sao Paulo, Brazil. They will then go to Paris on Friday (November 7), London on November 10th, Singapore on November 13th and New York on November 17th.
Wicked: For Good is set to hit theaters on November 21st.

Diddy Spotted Smiling and Socializing at Fort Dix Prison
Some more pics of Sean “Diddy” Combs at Fort Dix prison, via TMZ again, have surfaced, showing the humbled music mogul mingling casually with fellow inmates. Dressed in a dark blue coat, gray pants, and a gray beanie, he appeared relaxed and cheerful during a Saturday yard session. The image is a stark contrast to earlier pictures showing him looking more serious.
In one snapshot, Diddy is seen shaking hands, possibly with a new friend behind bars. Others show him laughing, surrounded by a small group of inmates who seem engaged and at ease in his presence. Diddy is adjusting to prison life with calm and confidence.
Fort Dix is now home for Diddy after Mann Act conviction. Diddy, whose real name is Sean Combs, was recently transferred to Fort Dix, a low-security federal prison in New Jersey. He’s serving time after being convicted on two counts related to the Mann Act, a federal law addressing illegal transport across state lines for immoral purposes. He reportedly requested to be sent to Fort Dix, making the transfer a legal win for his defense team.
Mark Geragos, Diddy’s lawyer, had expressed concern about his client’s well-being behind bars. But early images and reports suggest that Diddy is adjusting well to his new environment. Fort Dix offers yard time and work programs, which appear to be helping him settle in.

Trump Threatens Nigeria with Aid Cuts and War Over ‘Christian Persecution’

Donald Trump made headlines with a threat aimed directly at Nigeria. In a Truth Social post, he warned that the U.S. would cut all aid if Nigeria fails to stop violence against Christians. He also ordered the Pentagon—renamed by Trump as the “Department of War”—to prepare for possible military action.
The post triggered global shock. Trump called the violence an “existential threat” and blamed “radical Islamists.” His threat included the phrase “guns-a-blazing,” stirring instant debate over religion, policy, and power.
Trump accused Nigeria of doing nothing to protect Christians. He wrote that if attacks continue, the U.S. would pull $1.2 billion in annual aid. He also hinted at military strikes to “wipe out” Islamic terrorists.
“If the Nigerian Government continues to allow the killing of Christians, the U.S.A. will immediately stop all aid and assistance… and may very well go into that now disgraced country, ‘guns-a-blazing,’ to completely wipe out the Islamic Terrorists.”
He also gave the Pentagon the green light for “possible action.” Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth backed Trump, saying the “Department of War is preparing for action.”
Nigerian President Bola Ahmed Tinubu quickly pushed back on X. He said Nigeria respects religious freedom and does not support persecution. He called the U.S. claims false and harmful.
Information Minister Mohammed Idris said the violence is complex and affects both Christians and Muslims. He urged the U.S. to understand the broader crisis—not just religion, but terrorism and poverty.
Why this conflict runs deeper than religion alone
Nigeria has long faced deadly violence from groups like Boko Haram and Fulani extremists. Many attacks are rooted in land disputes, poverty, and weak government control. Over 15 years, tens of thousands have died—many of them Muslims.
Still, Christian villages in central and northern Nigeria have faced brutal massacres, like the recent Yelewata killings, where nearly 200 people died. That event helped trigger Trump’s post and the latest outrage.
Evangelicals cheer while critics fear foreign chaos
U.S. conservatives, especially evangelicals, strongly supported Trump’s move. Sen. Ted Cruz called for sanctions. Rep. Tom Cole said the situation demands action. Evangelical groups called it a “bold stand.”
But critics worry Trump’s words could spark more chaos. Human rights groups say military threats will only worsen instability. Amnesty International urged a focus on diplomacy, not “guns-a-blazing” talk.
Religious freedom vs. reckless policy: A global debate
The U.S. once labeled Nigeria a “Country of Particular Concern” for religious freedom violations. That designation was dropped in 2021 under President Biden but revived now by Trump. The U.S. Commission on International Religious Freedom (USCIRF) welcomed the return but warned against rushing into war.
Pope Leo XIV also condemned recent violence in Nigeria and called for unity. Experts say Trump is reviving a playbook from his first term, where defending Christians abroad aligned with his base at home.
