#MAGFAB: TIME100 Next 2026: The World's Most Influential Rising Stars Feat Raye
It’s been a while since South London singer Raye was a supporting act for another artist. And honestly, she admits, the experience has been humbling at times. With two critically acclaimed studio albums and world tours of her own under her belt, the 28-year-old has racked up countless hours on stage. But opening for pop heavyweight Bruno Mars on his Romantic Tour means she’s facing stadium crowds of around 70,000, a scale that still intimidates her.
“I think people know ‘Where Is My Husband!’” she tells me on a Zoom call from New Orleans, the 12th stop on her leg of the tour. The hit single has surpassed a billion streams on Spotify since its release a year ago, and she recently performed it at the 2026 MTV VMAs. But that recognition only goes so far when the audience has come to see someone else. “It’s that taste of humility, where you’re like, ‘Right, this person is just staring at me like they are bored out of their mind,’” she says. “But it encourages something within you that’s like, ‘I need to put on a good show for this person!’ It’s quite funny, but also healthy.”
Raye is exactly that—a ray of sunlight. Warmth and depth radiate from her, both in person and through that extraordinary voice. The truth sounds better coming from her: powerful, honeyed, vulnerable, and knowing. As heard on her 2026 album, This Music May Contain Hope, she has that rare ability to make something deeply personal feel universal, turning heartbreak, humor, and hard-won honesty into music that reaches straight through you.
I was lucky enough to watch my friend perform at Glastonbury, and seeing her infectious spirit lift thousands of people into a collective reverie was one of those moments I’ll never forget. There was joy, but also something deeper: the sense of watching an artist completely inhabit the place she has earned for herself. Raye has fought for her voice in every sense, and perhaps that’s why we believe her when she sings. There’s no distance between the woman and the artist. She is all heart, all soul—all Raye.

RHOA: Porsha Williams Reportedly Hires Law Roach, Steps Out With Him at Schiaparelli
Law Roach brought new client Porsha Williams to Schiaparelli’s Spring/Summer 2027 show during Paris Fashion Week, signaling the RHOA star’s push into high fashion.
The “Image Architect” continues to expand a roster that recently added Kim Kardashian and has included Zendaya, Céline Dion, Ariana Grande, and Khloé Kardashian.
Roach has also extended his influence beyond red carpets through fashion-week partnerships and an archival installation featuring Chanel, Dior, and Tom Ford-era Gucci.
Law Roach reportedly has another new client—and this time, he’s bringing one of Atlanta’s most recognizable Real Housewives into the Paris fashion scene.
Roach arrived at the Schiaparelli Womenswear Spring/Summer 2027 show in Paris on Thursday, October 1, with The Real Housewives of Atlanta star Porsha Williams, marking a high-profile outing for their reported new stylist-client partnership. The pair were photographed together outside the show during Paris Fashion Week, with Williams stepping into one of the biggest stops on the fashion calendar under Roach’s creative direction.
For Williams, 45, the Schiaparelli appearance puts her in considerably different territory from the Bravo world where she became famous. The reality star has been a fixture on RHOA for years.
Roach’s involvement also comes as the self-described “Image Architect” appears to be expanding his client roster.
Last month, Roach revealed that Kim Kardashian had become a client, posting a photo of Kardashian on Instagram with the straightforward caption, “New client.” Vogue subsequently confirmed the partnership.
His past and current styling credits have included Céline Dion, Ariana Grande, Khloé Kardashian and, most famously, Zendaya.
Zendaya and Roach have worked together for more than a decade, building one of Hollywood’s most recognizable celebrity-stylist partnerships. Roach recently made headlines by explaining just how protective he is of the actress—even admitting he deliberately gives conflicting answers when people ask about her marriage to Tom Holland.
“Stop asking me about somebody who I love’s personal business,” Roach said during an appearance on Outlaws with TS Madison. “Every time you ask me, I’m going to tell your ass something different.”
His influence has increasingly stretched beyond individual red carpets. During New York Fashion Week in 2025, Roach partnered with The Dominick Hotel in SoHo for his “Fashion Week Must-Haves” package, which combined luxury products with some considerably less formal favorites, including Cheddar & Sour Cream Ruffles.
He also curated an archival fashion installation with What Goes Around Comes Around featuring pieces from Chanel, Dior and Tom Ford-era Gucci.
That event brought Roach together with Camilla Araujo, who said she was attempting to make a bigger move into fashion. Their appearance prompted fans to call for Roach to style the social media star, although no collaboration was announced.

#MusicNews: Bruno Mars Unveils “Dance With Me” Visual

16-time GRAMMY® Award-winning global superstar Bruno Mars has officially released the music video for his latest single, “Dance With Me,” featuring global powerhouse Karol G. The visual follows their collaborative hit “Still” and arrives on the heels of Mars’ electrifying live performance of “Dance With Me” at last weekend’s 2026 MTV Video Music Awards, where he secured seven nominations and took home a coveted Moonman.
The track serves as the newest offering from The Romantic—Mars’ No. 1 fourth solo studio album and the biggest commercial debut of his career to date.
Earlier this year, The Romantic officially debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200, marking his first album to reach the summit since Unorthodox Jukebox more than a decade ago. The project simultaneously claimed the No. 1 spot on Apple’s Global Album Chart and Spotify’s Global and Top US Album Charts.
The album has spawned massive hits, including the explosive “I Just Might,” which became Mars’ 10th Billboard Hot 100 No. 1 and his inaugural No. 1 debut. The follow-up smash, “Risk It All,” landed at No. 1 on the Billboard Global 200 and Billboard Streaming Songs charts. Becoming his 22nd Top 10 hit on the Hot 100, the track also took over the top spot on Billboard’s all-format Radio Songs chart, earning Mars his 12th No. 1 and extending his record for the most leaders among male artists.
Mars is currently bringing his blockbuster era to massive stadium stages. After kicking off The Romantic Tour earlier this year with two sold-out shows at Las Vegas’ Allegiant Stadium—his first full headline tour in nearly a decade—he will continue the momentum later this week with a massive five-night sold-out run at SoFi Stadium in Los Angeles.

To commemorate the initial tour launch, Clark County honored the pop icon with a series of distinct accolades. April 10 was officially declared “Bruno Mars Day,” he was awarded a key to the Las Vegas Strip, and Park Avenue was officially renamed Bruno Mars Drive, placing him alongside legendary Las Vegas fixtures like Elvis Presley and Frank Sinatra.
The current album lands in the wake of monumental success from Mars’ recent collaborative smashes. The Grammy-winning “Die With A Smile” alongside Lady Gaga became the fastest song in Spotify history to reach 1 billion streams, reigning over the Billboard Global 200 for a record-tying 18 weeks.
Meanwhile, “APT.” with ROSÉ dominated 2025. Named the IFPI’s biggest-selling global single of the year and crowned the most globally streamed song of 2025 by Apple Music, the track scored 19 weeks at No. 1 on the Billboard Global Excl. U.S. Chart and 12 weeks atop the Billboard Global 200. Beyond its massive chart achievements, “APT.” won “Song of the Year” at the 2025 MTV Video Music Awards and earned three major nominations at the 68th Annual GRAMMY® Awards. Across his 2024–2025 hits, Mars has spent a staggering total of 30 weeks atop the Global 200.
Mars continues to solidify his position as one of the industry’s most influential commercial forces. In January 2025, he became the first artist in Spotify history to surpass 150 million monthly listeners. His RIAA dominance is equally unmatched: he was the first artist to earn six Diamond-certified singles and currently holds at least seven, including “Just the Way You Are,” which is now the highest-certified song in history at 21x Platinum. Bolstered by his debut Doo-Wops & Hooligans remaining the longest-running studio album by a solo male artist on the Billboard 200 (over 345 weeks), Mars’ commercial reign remains entirely unchallenged.

Paramount Agrees To Sacrifice BET & Other Black Channels If It Violates $110B Merger Rules With Warner Bros.

Paramount’s California settlement exposes six BET networks to a forced ownership change if the company violates cable deal protections according to AllHipHop
Paramount has agreed to sell BET if it forces cable providers to buy its channels to get access to Warner Bros. networks. Black viewers’ channels are now bargaining chips in a $110 billion takeover, with ownership hanging on the company’s business practices.
A forced sale would cover BET, BET Gospel, BET Her, BET Hip-Hop, BET Jams and BET Soul under the agreement. If Paramount breaks those rules, it has six months to fix the breach and make the affected cable firm whole. A judge must then find that Paramount broke the rules and failed to fix them before the sale requirement takes effect.
California Attorney General Rob Bonta led 12 states that sued in July to stop the $110 billion merger. The states said the deal would give one company too much power over films and cable channels and could raise prices.
Paramount and Warner denied breaking the law, but struck a deal with the states to end the court fight. Judge Araceli Martínez-Olguín approved that deal September 30, after the states announced the terms of their settlement nine days earlier.
The settlement ends California’s merger challenge while setting rules meant to protect cable firms and their TV viewers. Paramount must keep talks for its own cable channels separate from talks for Warner’s networks unless the cable firm requests joint talks. It cannot demand that a cable firm accept terms for one group of channels to get access to the other.
The decree requires the company to sell its “entire direct and indirect ownership interest in the Divestiture Channels” under those conditions. VH1, Comedy Central, Smithsonian, Destination America and Science appear on the sale list alongside six named BET channels.
Robert and Sheila Johnson launched BET in 1980 to serve Black viewers, building a TV brand with national reach. The network grew into a major home for Black music and shows, with programs such as the video countdown 106 & Park.
In 1991, BET became the first Black-owned firm listed on the New York Stock Exchange, a milestone in the network’s growth. Viacom paid $3 billion for BET in 2001, placing the brand inside a larger media group. BET stayed in that group through later corporate changes, including the Viacom-CBS merger and the parent’s switch to Paramount Global in 2022.
AllHipHop reported that BET brought in LL Cool J, Queen Latifah and founder Bob Johnson to help guide the network.
The states must approve any buyer, and the sale includes the brands and assets needed to run the networks. The decree calls for support to keep the channels working as “viable, ongoing programming assets” when a buyer takes over.
Existing deals to use licensed shows would last through their terms, while the studios that own those shows would keep their rights. The decree also bars Paramount from buying back those channels for the rest of the term of the settlement.
If the court triggers the sale requirement, Paramount must sell the channels within 120 days after the correction period ends.

#RIPVonScales, Husband of Trina Braxton, Dies at 58 in Atlanta
Von Scales, the husband of reality television star and singer Trina Braxton, died early Thursday morning in Georgia.
He was 58. A representative for the Braxton family confirmed the news in a statement, describing Scales as a “beloved husband” and asking for privacy as the family navigates the loss.
According to sources close to the family, Scales passed away around 2 a.m. in Atlanta following a period of heart-related health issues. An official cause of death has not been released. Scales became a familiar face to television audiences through his appearances on the long-running reality series “Braxton Family Values” and the subsequent show “The Braxtons.”
His 2019 wedding to Trina was a central storyline for the famous family, representing a new beginning for the singer following years of personal challenges. The loss marks another tragic chapter for Trina Braxton, who has faced significant grief in recent years. Her ex-husband, Gabe Solis, with whom she shares two sons, Eric and Caleb, died in 2018 at age 43 following a battle with cancer. In interviews following her engagement to Scales, Trina often spoke about how he supported her through the grieving process for her former spouse. “He really helped me through it, he stood right by me,” Trina previously said of Scales during an interview with Entertainment Tonight.
She noted that his presence helped her realize the importance of making amends and resolving conflicts, stating that life is too short for “unnecessary foolishness.” The Braxton family has been plagued by several high-profile losses in the last decade. In 2022, Trina’s sister, Traci Braxton, died at the age of 50 after being diagnosed with esophageal cancer.
Funeral arrangements and memorial service details for Scales have not yet been announced. May he rest peacefully.

Michael McDonald Reunites With Son He Placed for Adoption at 14, Nearly 60 Years Later

Michael McDonald spent decades wondering how life had turned out for the son he and his teenage girlfriend placed for adoption. Nearly 60 years later, an unexpected family DNA match finally gave him an answer.
Michael Goessling, now 59, grew up in the St. Louis area with adoptive parents Paul and Kay Goessling. He always knew he was adopted and describes the childhood they gave him warmly, while curiosity about his biological family stayed with him into adulthood.
The connection began to surface in 2025 after one of Goessling's previously unknown half-brothers took a 23andMe test and received a match identifying Goessling as family
That discovery eventually led Goessling to his birth mother and then to McDonald, the five-time Grammy winner whose voice he had already known for most of his life. The reunion answered questions on both sides of the adoption.
A Half-Brother's DNA Test Opened the Door
Goessling's search took a major turn through a relative he had never met. First Alert 4 reported that one of his half-brothers submitted DNA to 23andMe and received a notification identifying Michael Goessling in St. Louis as a half-brother.
The result eventually led Goessling's biological parents back to him. In a separate interview with NBC News, Goessling said he received a letter in May 2025 asking to make contact. He spoke with his biological mother that night and suggested they meet on his 58th birthday.
Goessling later learned that his biological parents had tried to reach him at other points in his life through similar letters. McDonald and Goessling's birth mother had remained friends over the decades even as both built separate families.
After meeting his mother, he received a voice message from his father and spoke with him by phone the following day. Goessling told NBC that he entered the call knowing his father's first name was Mike. During their conversation, he asked what the man did for work and learned that he was a musician preparing for a September 2025 show in St. Louis.
His father mentioned performing at the Hollywood Casino Amphitheatre on September 4, so Goessling searched the venue's schedule and found the Doobie Brothers listed for that night. He then asked whether he was speaking with Michael McDonald, and McDonald confirmed it.
Goessling had been a Doobie Brothers fan since childhood. He told NBC that he remembered McDonald joining the group in the 1970s and had even seen the band perform twice before learning that the singer was his biological father.
McDonald and Goessling's birth mother were both teenagers when their son was born. First Alert 4 reported that they conceived Goessling at 14 and placed him for adoption as an infant, while NBC described the arrangement as a closed adoption with Paul and Kay Goessling, who lived in the St. Louis area.
McDonald said he and Goessling's biological mother continued talking about their son over the years, with one question weighing most heavily on them: how life had treated him.
Learning that Goessling had grown up happy brought McDonald considerable relief. He told First Alert 4 that he had carried guilt about the uncertainty and credited Paul and Kay for giving his son the life he hoped he would have. "The real rock stars in this story are his adoptive parents," McDonald said.
Father and son eventually moved from phone calls to an in-person meeting. Goessling recalled McDonald opening his arms when he saw him and immediately pulling him into a large hug before the two exchanged words of affection.
The wider families also came together. NBC reported that the group gathered the night before McDonald's September 2025 St. Louis concert, an evening Goessling described as one of the greatest events of his life.
The reunion brought another family discovery for McDonald: Goessling has children, making the singer a grandfather through the son he had spent decades wondering about. McDonald told First Alert 4 that he was still absorbing that new role and spoke proudly about Goessling's wife and children.

Nas is Bringing ‘Beat Street’ To The Broadway Stage
Nas is bringing the iconic 1984 movie Beat Street to Broadway as a brand-new musical. According to Deadline, Nas has assembled a top-tier creative team for the stage adaptation. The project features director Schele Williams (The Wiz), playwright Kristoffer Diaz (Hell’s Kitchen), and music supervisor Jason Michael Webb.
Under Williams’ direction, Diaz will adapt the original film’s script for the stage while Webb handles musical arrangements and orchestration. To refine the adaptation, the creative trio recently completed an intensive 29-hour workshop in August.
“Beat Street wasn’t just a film – it spread the revolution of hip-hop culture throughout the country and the world. It left an indelible mark, inspiring generations of young artists and creating new hip-hop fans alike,” Nas told The Hollywood Reporter in June of 2024. “It’s a thrill for me to join the creative team of Beat Street, bringing the raw energy of hip-hop into the fabric of Broadway. It’s an honor to breathe new life into this iconic work and celebrate its enduring legacy.”
Released in 1984 and directed by Stan Lathan, Beat Street is a seminal dance drama that captured the explosive rise of early hip-hop culture in the South Bronx. The film follows aspiring DJ Kenny Kirkland, his b-boy younger brother Lee, and their graffiti-artist friend Ramon as they strive to elevate their artistic talents beyond their local neighborhood.
Beyond its narrative, the movie stands as an invaluable cultural time capsule, showcasing authentic breakdancing battles at iconic spots like the Roxy, alongside electrifying performances from genre pioneers including Grandmaster Melle Mel, the Treacherous Three, and the Rock Steady Crew. By bringing all four core elements of hip-hop—DJing, MCing, breakdancing, and graffiti—to mainstream cinema, Beat Street played a vital role in exporting the South Bronx movement to a global audience.
Doug E. Fresh, DJ Kool Herc, Afrika Bambataa & The Sonic Force, Us Girls, The Treacherous Three, Magnificent Force, The New York City Breakers, Rock Steady Crew, and Grandmaster Melle Mel & The Furious Five all appeared in the film.
It was produced by Harry Belafonte and David V. Picker, with music by Belafonte and Arthur Baker.

Judge has sobering comments to Rick Ross after felony battery by strangulation charge

Rick Ross got a dose of reality Thursday when he appeared in court after his Wednesday arrest on battery charges in Miami.
Ross, whose real name is William Roberts II, appeared before Judge Mindy Glazer, who wasn’t impressed with his celebrity status.
His attorney Bradley Horenstein asked whether the rapper’s release could be “expedited” because of his fame.
“I have no idea who you are,” Glazer told Ross in response, per TMZ.
According to the report, she said he’s be treated fairly “just like everybody else here.”
The 50-year-old rapper spoke with reporters outside the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center in West Miami-Dade on Thursday afternoon.
“I’m totally innocent of these fabricated allegations made against me,” he told 7News. “I repeat, I’m totally innocent of these fabricated allegations made against me.”
He was arrested on domestic violence charges, including felony battery by strangulation. Ross pleaded not guilty.
The woman told police the alleged violent incident took place on Aug. 28. She told the outlet she was sleeping in the home they shared, and he woke her up in a jealous rage over a photo she was tagged in on social media. Things then turned physical.
The rapper, 50, faces one felony count of battery by strangulation and one misdemeanor count of battery. Both charges are listed as involving domestic violence.
Per TMZ, citing sources, the woman told police Ross questioned her about lying to him and then slapped her in the face. He later accused her of being involved in a relationship, she said, and “every time she denied it, he struck her.”
Bond was listed at $5,000 on the battery by strangulation charge and $1,000 on the battery charge, for a total of $6,000.
The woman gave police photos of her alleged injuries, per the report.

Tyler Perry Says Netflix Film ‘Doing Life’ Is An Homage To ‘Love Jones’ & ‘Jason’s Lyric’
Tyler Perry is revealing the inspiration behind his newest Netflix film, “Doing Life.” The filmmaker says the romantic drama pays homage to two beloved Black films from the 1990s. Those movies are “Love Jones” and “Jason’s Lyric.”
Perry shared the connection in an Instagram post Friday. He posted images featuring the posters for both films alongside one for “Doing Life.”
“I’m just gonna go on and say it… My latest movie, Doing Life, is an homage to these great films and the way they made me feel after I saw them,” Perry wrote. “For all of you who’ve seen Doing Life already, thank you. And for those who haven’t, I can’t wait to hear your thoughts.”
The revelation gives audiences more context about Perry’s approach to his latest romance.
“Doing Life” arrived on Netflix on Oct. 2. Perry wrote, directed and produced the film. Angi Bones and Tony L. Strickland also served as producers.
The film stars Naomi Baker and Jay Reeves as two people who form an unexpected relationship. Tamberla Perry, Karen Obilom and Danielle Moné Truitt also appear in the cast.
“Doing Life” follows Anika, a single mother played by Baker, and Carousel, played by Reeves.
Carousel is an incarcerated man who eventually attempts to rebuild his life after his release. The pair form a bond that develops as they navigate personal struggles, family pressures and difficult choices.
Netflix describes the film as a story about redemption, hope and love. The romance develops after Anika and Carousel begin communicating through heartfelt letters.
The story places two people from complicated circumstances at the center of a romantic drama. That approach connects “Doing Life” with the films Perry named as inspirations.
“Jason’s Lyric” was released in 1994 and starred Allen Payne and Jada Pinkett Smith. Doug McHenry directed the romantic drama.
The film follows Jason, a Houston man carrying trauma from his childhood. His relationship with Lyric gives him a chance to imagine a different future. However, Jason also feels responsible for his troubled younger brother, Joshua, played by Bokeem Woodbine.
“Love Jones” arrived three years later in 1997.
Theodore Witcher wrote and directed the film, which starred Larenz Tate and Nia Long
Tate portrayed Darius Lovehall, a writer and poet living in Chicago. Long played Nina Mosley, a photographer navigating her own career and romantic uncertainty. Their complicated relationship became the center of a film about intimacy, vulnerability and commitment.
“Love Jones” has remained a notable entry in Black romantic cinema decades after its release. The Criterion Collection added the film to its collection in 2022.
Perry’s decision to reference both movies places “Doing Life” within a recognizable tradition of Black romance on screen. However, the filmmaker stopped short of describing the new project as a remake or direct adaptation.
Instead, Perry focused on how the earlier movies made him feel. That distinction suggests the connection is emotional rather than simply narrative.
With “Doing Life,” Perry appears to be revisiting the kind of complicated Black romance that helped define both films.

Rihanna responded "damn" to a video of EJ Johnson struggling to enter his Paris hotel after posing for photographers.
Johnson had recently shaded Rihanna for arriving an hour late to a Dior presentation, saying: "We didn’t care to wait for her."
The exchange follows Johnson’s May critique of the 2026 Met Gala, which he called a "graveyard" with "awful" outfits.
Rihanna has thrown some shade back in the direction of EJ Johnson after the media personality was blocked from entering his Paris hotel this week.
On Friday (October 2), a clip shared by The Hollywood Fix on Instagram showed Johnson struggling to gain access to his Paris hotel after posing for photographers, after which paparazzi were overheard telling hotel staffers to let Johnson inside.
Many people commented on the post, but the one comment that stood out most was from Rihanna, who simply wrote: "damn."
RiRi's comment comes after Johnson made a slight dig at the nine-time Grammy winner in an IG video posted on Wednesday (September 30).
The son of Earvin "Magic" Johnson and Cookie Johnson shared a Paris Fashion Week recap that showed him before and after attending a Dior presentation.
Following the show, the Proud Family: Louder and Prouder star said: "The show itself was beautiful. It did start an hour late because Rihanna was late, and you know, like, we didn’t care to wait for her."
In May, Johnson shared how unimpressed he was with fashion from the 2026 Met Gala, calling the event a "graveyard" while the outfits were "awful."
"Let the Met Ball go," Johnson said of the event. "I’m gonna shed a tear right now if I can."
While Johnson didn’t attend the gala, Rihanna and her longtime partner and children's father, ASAP Rocky, were present.

Zach Bryan and his band wore "Free Palestine" shirts during his October 2 concert at Gillette Stadium, signaling solidarity with Macklemore.
The statement appeared aimed at stadium CEO Robert Kraft, who Macklemore said pushed Ed Sheeran to remove him from the Loop Tour over his pro-Palestine speech.
Macklemore later announced a three-date Free Palestine Tour in Europe and pledged $1 million in projected tour earnings to six organizations supporting Palestinians.
Zach Bryan has publicly shown that he stands with Macklemore after the rapper was kicked off Ed Sheeran's tour for his emphatic message towards Palestine.
According to Deadline, Bryan wore a "Free Palestine" tee with cut-off sleeves during his Friday night (October 2) concert at Gillette Stadium. The message serves as a protest to Robert Kraft, CEO of the stadium, who Sheeran claimed was insistent about Macklemore being dropped from his Loop Tour.
Bryan's band also wore "Free Palestine" shirts in support of the "I Remember Everything" vocalist. The country singer is due to perform a second concert in the stadium on Saturday night (October 3).
In September, Macklemore claimed that Kraft had given an ultimatum to Sheeran over the rapper's "Free Palestine" speech, with the businessman sharing in a social media post that he refuses to "provide a platform to hate speech."
Following the tour controversy, Macklemore announced the three-date Free Palestine Tour in Europe, which will be held in late-October, and in a message to fans, the Grammy winner pointed out a "collective awakening around Palestinian liberation."
Previously, the Seattle native said $1 million net earnings from his time on Sheeran's tour would be donated "to six organizations working directly to support the Palestinian people."
"It’s 2026. Being apolitical during a genocide doesn’t work anymore," he wrote in an Instagram post. "People are asking artists to show up, educate themselves, and be in community. To use the stage for more than entertainment. To push back when the call for a Free Palestine is met with attempts to silence it."

Halle Berry Fires Back at Olivier Martinez’s Child Abuse Allegations: ‘Meritless and Deliberately Misleading’
Halle Berry is responding to ex-husband Olivier Martinez’s restraining order, filed on behalf of their son Maceo, 12.
In court docs obtained by “Extra,” Martinez claimed that Berry physically abused Maceo.
In response to the court filing, Halle’s lawyer Marina Beck told TMZ, “To say this filing is entirely meritless and deliberately misleading would be an understatement. There is voluminous evidence, including numerous judicial rulings, that Olivier Martinez repeatedly violated court orders and interfered with necessary therapeutic and educational interventions to the detriment of his and Halle Berry’s minor son Maceo — misconduct for which Mr. Martinez has already been legally sanctioned.”
Beck continued, “In a way, today’s filing is not entirely unexpected from an individual with a well-documented history of erratic, possessive, and violent behavior. Fortunately, Halle is used to this kind of outrageous conduct from Mr. Martinez and, while she is deeply saddened, she will not allow it to deter her from fighting for Maceo’s best interests and providing him with the love and support he needs.”
The docs filed by Martinez claimed that Berry has caused “emotional and mental distress due to physical abuse of our minor child, Maceo.”
Martinez claimed that Berry “physically abused our son, Maceo, by jumping on him, putting her hands around his neck, and choking him” on September 26.
As part of the docs, Martinez is requesting sole custody of Maceo.
In a statement to “Extra,” Martinez’s attorney Patrick Baghdaserians said, “My client’s motivation purely is to ensure the health, welfare, and safety of the minor child moving forward. That’s the paramount concern. That’s number one. Number two is to ensure and try to motivate opposing party to get the help that she very clearly needs as it pertains to her anger management and her impulse control.”
The statement continued, “Because at the end of the day, she is the mother of this minor child. She’s the parent, and if she can better herself and address these issues and these problems, it will not only benefit herself, but it will help benefit the minor child in turn, and also foster a healthy relationship between them moving forward. Because my client’s motivation is not, by any stretch of the imagination, to eliminate mom moving forward, but rather to protect the child and ensure the child is safe and in a safe and nurturing environment moving forward.”
In 2015, Halle and Olivier filed for divorce after two years of marriage.
At the time, they said, “It is with a heavy heart that we have come to the decision to divorce. We move forward with love and respect for one another and the shared focus of what is best for our son. We wish each other nothing but happiness in life and we hope that you respect our and, most importantly, our children’s privacy as we go through this difficult period.”
Eight years later, they finalized their divorce, agreeing to joint legal and physical custody of Maceo, which includes splitting the week between households and alternating weekends.

Nicole Linton Convicted of Murder in Crash That Killed the Slauson 6

Nicole Linton has been convicted of six counts of second-degree murder in the 2022 Windsor Hills crash that killed six people, bringing a long-awaited verdict in a case that devastated families and the Los Angeles community.
A jury returned the guilty verdict Friday, Oct. 2, after Linton went on trial over the fiery Aug. 4, 2022 collision at La Brea and Slauson avenues.
The Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office said Linton drove her Mercedes-Benz through a red light at 130 mph, striking multiple vehicles. Three vehicles caught fire.
The victims were Asherey Ryan, 23; her boyfriend, Reynold Lester, 24; their 11-month-old son, Alonzo Quintero; Ryan’s unborn child, Armani; Nathesia Lewis, 43; and Lynette Noble, 38.
The convictions mark the first measure of legal closure for families who have spent more than four years mourning six lives lost in a matter of seconds.
Prosecutors presented evidence that Linton accelerated before entering the intersection rather than stopping or swerving. The DA’s office said she floored the accelerator for at least five seconds before the collision.
Linton’s defense maintained during the trial that she experienced a seizure and lost control of her vehicle. Prosecutors disputed that account.
The jury ultimately found Linton guilty of all six felony murder counts.
Los Angeles County District Attorney Nathan Hochman said the verdict represented accountability for six lives lost, declaring that while it could not bring the victims back, it could ensure “that their lives were not forgotten and that justice prevailed on their behalf.”
Linton faces multiple life sentences. Her sentencing is scheduled for Dec. 1.
