The Daily Buzz For Jul 2☕📰☕

#MAGFAB: Susan L. Taylor for Essence Magazine 55th Anniversary Issue!

Susan L. Taylor: A Life Of Meaning And Purpose. This story was originally published in ESSENCE’s special 55th anniversary July/August 2025 issue, on stands now.

I was four months pregnant in the late fall of 1999 when I was invited to interview with Susan Taylor for a senior editorial position at ESSENCE. A decade earlier, I’d learned to fake self-assurance when I walked into rooms; but on that day, there was no unearned confidence to assume, only humility.

Would I belong at a publication that sisters held with nearly biblical reverence—as they did the woman who had made it so? It was, in a very real sense for me, John 14.2: In my Father’s House there are many mansions. If it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you…”  Read the full interview at Essence: https://www.essence.com/cover-stories/susan-l-taylor-life-meaning-and-purpose/

#RHOA: Season Finale Highlights: Shamea & Brit Exchange Accusations + Phaedra Put on Blast
On the season finale of “Real Housewives of Atlanta,” Brit and Shamea make scathing accusations; Phaedra maintains her innocence after Marcus pins the cheating rumors about Charles on her. Here are the highlights for “Game Over.”

Brit and Shamea exchange messy accusations. Shamea invites the group to see her perform her new music. While the performance was great and everyone’s spirits are high, Shamea decides she doesn’t want the evening to end without talking to Brit. Cynthia told her that Brit said she showed text messages between her and Porsha.

Brit stands firm on her claims. She insists Shamea told her that Porsha wasn’t a good friend. Shamea accuses Brit of lying, and Brit questions why she would need to make this up.
During her green screen interview, Brit says Shamea said Porsha hasn’t been a good friend to her. She also thinks it was shady for Shamea to allegedly show their private text message conversations. This isn’t something a best friend should do, in her opinion.

Shamea thinks Brit is jealous that she has grown close to Kelli. She then calls out Brit for taking off her clothes after she had been drinking alcohol. Then she thanks Brit for showing up fully clothed to talk. In response, Brit calls out Shamea for not leaving the Grenada trip to check on her sick daughter after she received the phone call from Gerald. Brit alleges that Shamea was taking shots in Miami instead.
Shamea accuses Brit of “popping pills,” the same claim Kelli made when she and Brit fell out.
Before walking away, Shamea calls Brit a “lady of the night.” Brit then says that people have alleged that she cheats on Gerald.

Phaedra is put on the spot by Marcus.
Angela and Charles host a charity event for their foundation. They honor Porsha and her cousin, Londie, for all the work they have done for their grandfather’s foundation. Porsha gives a speech to highlight how much work Londie did. It’s an emotional moment for her as she remembers her younger cousin who recently passed away. All the women support her, including Shamea, who later tells producers she hopes Porsha knows she will always have love for her.

Once the speeches are over, Angela and Drew invite Marcus to come out and set the record straight for the group. When Charles sees Marcus come around, he immediately tells him to leave because Marcus disrespected him as a man. Angela argues that Marcus needs to tell the truth to clear Charles’ name, but Charles says he doesn’t need Marcus to clear up anything. It should be clear that the cheating claims made were BS.
Angela calms Charles down. Marcus then tells the ladies it was Phaedra who told him to show up to Kelli’s waffle cook-off and make cheating accusations about Charles. He also alleges that they have a mutual connection named “Junebug.”

In a green screen interview, Phaedra denies having anything to do with Marcus. She says her marriage was ruined on the show, and that is why she wouldn’t want to harm anyone else’s.

Angela and Phaedra clash.
Marcus makes his exit. Phaedra tells Angela she did all this research but forgot to tell everyone she’s in foreclosure for one of her properties. Angela tells Phaedra this isn’t tea. But what Phaedra forgot to tell everyone is that she was the one who called Angela and supplied Marcus’ information. So the trail leads back to her and no one else.

Kelli believes Brit is behind it, Porsha thinks Angela set it up herself, despite Phaedra’s past actions on the platform.
Shamea brings up Brit’s comment regarding her daughter, and Brit says she didn’t say Shamea faked the child being sick. But she did point out that Shamea didn’t leave Grenada to be with her child before departing the event with Mike.

Porsha tells Cynthia she wasn’t supposed to go back to Shamea to tell her what Brit said. As far as she’s concerned, she hasn’t changed how she moves with Shamea. She has a lot on her plate so it’s up to Shamea if she wants to retain the friendship or not.

#MusicNews: Kem Has Returned to the Independent lane Relaunches Kemistry Records

R&B veteran Kem has departed from Motown Records, his label home for more than 20 years.
The “Love Calls” singer is returning to his independent roots with the relaunch of Kemistry Records, which initially released his debut album, Kemistry, before reissuing it on Motown.

“For more than 20 years, the Motown Records label has been good to me,” Kem said in a statement. “I’m forever honored and grateful to have had the opportunity to share in the rich legacy of the many legendary Motown artists, producers, songwriters, musicians and arrangers who solidified Detroit’s position on the musical map.”
Kem confirmed that he had asked to be released from Motown after careful consideration. “Earlier this year, I made the difficult decision of requesting that the label I’ve loved and called ‘home’ for more than two decades, release me from my contract, and Motown graciously granted my request,” he explained. “I have now returned to my Kemistry Records label, where my musical journey and my first album, Kemistry, were born.”

He continues, “My move back to Kemistry Records is a return to everything I love and cherish about the music-making process. I’m returning to my musical roots and to my independence as an artist, a songwriter, and an entrepreneur. Most importantly, I’m returning to the ability to musically reach out and touch my fans in a more meaningful way.”

In addition to his new label announcement, Kem has also revealed that his new single “Give My Love” will release later this summer via Kemistry Records.

According to press materials, the song was inspired by his recent trip to South Africa: “His reflection led to the creation of sounds and lyrics that reflect the embracing love and emotional connection that he felt during his experience in the Motherland.”
“Give My Love” will mark Kem’s first single since releasing his Full Circle EP in 2022. The five-track project included the No. 1 hit “Stuck On You,” plus features from Ty Dolla $ign and Rick Ross.

As indicated above, Kem signed to Motown Records in November 2001, following the successful sale of 15,000 copies of Kemistry without major backing. He reissued the album in February 2003, and it was certified gold by the RIAA in the summer of 2004.
Kem released five studio albums under Motown: Kemistry (2003), Album II (2004), Intimacy: Album III (2010), Promise To Love (2014), Love Always Wins (2020). He also released a holiday album, What Christmas Means (2012), and an EP, Full Circle (2022).

Over the years, the Grammy-nominated singer has collected eight No. 1 hits on the Billboard Adult R&B Airplay chart: “Love Calls,” “I Can’t Stop Loving You,” “Why Would You Stay,” “It’s You,” “Nobody,” “Lie To Me,” “Live Out Your Love,” featuring Toni Braxton and “Stuck On You.”

In 2023, Kem celebrated 20 years at Motown with his first-ever live album, Anniversary – The Live Album.
“Celebrating the 20th anniversary of my signing to the Motown label is exceptionally significant for me,” he said. “As a young man creating music, only in my wildest dreams could I envision a life that could encapsulate the magnitude of a moment like this.”

#HipHopNews: Rakim, KRS-One, Kool G Rap & Big Daddy Kane Might Be Forming Supergroup
“Mt. Rushmore” supergroup in the works with Rakim, KRS-One, Kool G Rap & Big Daddy Kane—with a bonus MC. Read on.
A quiet storm is brewing behind the scenes that could change the landscape of Hip-Hop’s legacy acts forever. Listen to me and listen good. According to AllHipHop they have received exclusive word from a high-flying bird that a high-powered supergroup is in the final stages of formation.

This is about to be crazy if the rumor comes true. Tentatively dubbed Mt. Rushmore, Rakim, Kool G Rap, KRS-One and Big Daddy Kane could be the next supergroup. I don’t think I need to run down the history of these rappers, but if you are a younger fan, trust me on this one. From back in the day, these are the best of the best of the best in Hip-Hop. Each of them can rap circles around most rappers today.

Sources close to the development say the project is “getting finalized,” with the budget already locked in.
There’s one question. One of the artists is not fully on board at the time of this writing. I am waiting with bated breath that this happens with all of the acts mentioned. I think he can be convinced to join the movement—but that’s not all.

There’s also a bee buzz that says Slick Rick might be tapped for at least one track. Slick recently emptied the clip with a recent album. He’s 60 years young, but adding his iconic voice would be crazy. He’s not a member of the group, but maybe he will be if the fourth person doesn’t join.

Details like the official group name, release date or label is under wraps, but this isn’t wishful thinking. This one’s for real. The budget is in place. If this materializes, Mt. Rushmore could become one of the most culturally significant Hip-Hop collaborations ever. It would unify some of the most competitive forces in Hip-Hop history. We need this lyrical masterclass.

Come on guys! Stay tuned.

Televangelist and Pastor Once Marred in Scandal Jimmy Swaggart dies at 90

Pioneering televangelist Jimmy Swaggart, one of the first preachers to bring his ministry to a massive TV audience before being embroiled in a damaging sex scandal, died in Louisiana following a two-week hospitalization, a family representative said Tuesday.

He was 90. "Today, our hearts are heavy as we share that Brother Swaggart has finished his earthly race and entered into the presence of His Savior, Jesus Christ," according to a statement posted on his Facebook page.
"He met his beloved Savior and entered the portals of glory. At the same time, we rejoice knowing that we will see him again one day."
Swaggart was taken to the hospital on June 15 after suffering cardiac arrest, his family said.

The pastor's loved ones thanked the staff at Baton Rouge General Medical Center "for their incredible support and care given during this time," the statement said.
"Rest in peace to Rev. Jimmy Swaggart," Louisiana Gov. Jeff Landry said in a statement. "He devoted much of his life to bringing people to Christ. Our prayers go out to the Swaggart family during this difficult time."
Swaggart became famous in 1975 when, according to his Jimmy Swaggart Ministries, "his television crews were able to capture the services live and replay them on his weekly program."

And by the mid-1980s, his Sunday show was aired on hundreds of TV stations across America.
But his standing in the TV Christian community suffered a terrible blow when allegations emerged that he frequented a local prostitute.
Swaggart famously gave a tearful 1988 sermon, telling the congregation he had "sinned," though he didn't offer any specifics.

"I have sinned against you," Swaggart said. "I beg you to forgive me."
Jimmy Lee Swaggart was born March 15, 1935, in Ferriday, Louisiana, to W.L. and Minnie Bell Swaggart.
The family was blessed with showmanship and musical talent, exemplified by Swaggart's TV acumen and the singing ability of his famed cousins Jerry Lee Lewis and Mickey Gilley.

The pastor was comfortable spreading his Pentecostal message at a typewriter, behind a radio microphone and eventually in front of a TV camera.
But with his microphone always metaphorically on, Swaggart was often caught making deeply divisive statements.
He once described the Catholic Church as "the whore of the Apocalypse" and as a false religion.

Misfortunes endured by Jewish people came "because of their rejection of Christ," according to Swaggart.
The TV preacher's flock didn't seem to mind those statements. Still, his career took a decided turn south when Swaggart was photographed leaving a Louisiana motel after spending time with a prostitute.
Swaggart was eventually defrocked by the Assemblies of God.

Swaggart is survived by his wife, Frances, son Donnie, daughter-in-law Debbie, grandson Gabriel, daughter Jill, granddaughter Jennifer, son-in-law Clif, son Matt, daughter-in-law Joanna and nine great-grandchildren — Sam, Ryder, Abby, Lola, Harper, Navy, Harrison, Caroline and Mackenzie.

The WNBA To Expand Into Cleveland, Detroit, And Philadelphia Within Next Five Years

The WNBA announced on Monday (June 30) that it will expand the league into Cleveland, Detroit, and Philadelphia over the next five years— growing the league to 18 teams in total.
WNBA Commissioner Cathy Engelbert described it as a “truly monumental day” for the league.

“These are proud cities with powerful sports legacies, each one rich in basketball tradition,” she stated, according to CNBC. “This is a bold step forward as we grow our footprint.”

Nic Barlage, CEO of the Rock Entertainment Group, which owns the Cleveland Cavaliers and other professional sports teams in the city, considered the move to be “transformative.” Arn Tellem, the vice chairman of the Detroit Pistons basketball franchise, called it a “huge win for our city” while Josh Harris, co-founder and managing partner of Harris Blitzer Sports & Entertainment (HBSE) that owns the Philadelphia 76ers, said bringing the WNBA to Philly “wasn’t just a nice-to-have, it was an obligation.”

The WNBA currently has 13 teams and already announced expanding franchises in Toronto and Portland, with the latter set to join in 2026.
“As the WNBA builds on a season of unprecedented growth, bringing a team back to Portland is another important step forward,” said WNBA Commissioner Cathy Engelbert back in September 2024 following the confirmation. “Portland has been an epicenter of the women’s sports movement and is home to a passionate community of basketball fans.”

Cleveland Rockers play against the Los Angeles Sparks at Staples Center in June 2001 Lisa Blumenfeld/ALLSPORT
The Cleveland team will be launched first in 2028, followed by Detroit in 2029 and Philadelphia in 2030. Per an anonymous source, each team will reportedly pay $250 million in franchise fees to join the league— marking a “historic high for the WNBA.”

This, however, isn’t Cleveland’s first foray into women’s basketball. The city hosted one of the WNBA’s original franchises, the Cleveland Rockers from 1997 to 2003. The team folded after seven seasons when the team’s owner, Gordon Gund, claimed he couldn’t find a way to make them profitable. The Detroit Shock played from 1998 until 2009— setting records and winning three championships before being moved to Tulsa, Oklahoma.
Several cities including Kansas City, St. Louis, Austin, Houston, Miami, Denver, and Charlotte, submitted bids to be part of the expansion for more than two years. The WNBA selected the markets after “analyzing market viability, infrastructure and local support.”

Engelbert specifically mentioned that Houston could be the next city that the league would expand into.

Ja Rule Trolls 50 Cent Over Alleged Low Concert Ticket Sales
The decades-long feud between Ja Rule and 50 Cent reignited — yet again — on Saturday (June 29), as the Rule took aim at his longtime nemesis over what he alleged were low ticket sales during 50’s current European tour.
As Fif embarks across the U.K. and Germany, the Murder Inc. vet took to social media to mock a reported “two-for-one” ticket offer for the London stop. When a 50 fan attempted to correct Rule on X with screenshots of sold-out show dates, Rule doubled-down on his stance.
“You sure bout that??? Ain’t nobody coming to see you, Otis… I mean Curtis,” Rule quipped, referencing the iconic line from The Temptations. The post included a clip from the concert showing a crowded standing-room area, while many of the surrounding seats appeared noticeably empty.

In a recent interview with Big Boy, the TV mogul revived a claim that he once bought out the first four rows of a Ja Rule show just to leave them empty. “I did [buy Ja Rule’s tickets],” 50 admitted. “They were cheap tickets. They were on StubHub. I just want you to feel like you gotta reach the people, four or five rows back.”
“It wasn’t that big of a sacrifice,” he continued. “That was fun, watching the show and seeing the spaces are empty because they were reserved for someone else.”

Rule, however, quickly called cap. “You believe this dumb sh*t??? Like I said before I got 10k for ANYONE who can produce this footage… what city/venue did this said show take place??? @50cent is a fat f**king LIAR,” he fired back on X.
Rule has been serving 50 Cent a healthy dose of his own trolling medicine. Back in April, the “Always On Time” rapper took a shot at the Queens native, blaming him for the New York Knicks’ loss to the Detroit Pistons in the NBA Playoffs.

Taking to social media to highlight the final score of 100-94, Rule wrote, “Man, I knew my Knicks was gonna lose as soon as I seen that black cat (rat) in the building…”
Surprisingly, 50 Cent chose to stay silent on that jab. Take a look above at Ja Rule’s latest antics against Fif.

Bryan Kohberger To Plead Guilty To All Counts In Killings Of Four Idaho College Students
Bryan Kohberger, a former graduate student charged with the murders of four Idaho college students, has agreed to plead guilty on all counts and will face four consecutive life sentences, according to multiple news reports.
Kohberger will not face the death penalty in exchange for his guilty plea, and will next appear in a court hearing on July 2, when he’s expected to formally enter it.

As part of the deal, Kohberger will plead guilty to four counts of first-degree murder and one count of burglary. He’ll also waive his right to appeal and to serve his prison sentence without the possibility of parole.
Kohberger stands accused of stabbing three University of Idaho roommates — Kaylee Goncalves, 21, Madison Mogen, 21 and Xana Kernodle, 20 — as well Kernodle’s boyfriend, Ethan Chapin, 20, during a 2022 attack at their off-campus house.

The killings, which took place in the early morning of Nov. 13, 2022, spawned a weekslong manhunt in the area and thousands of tips as police sought to track down a suspect. Two other roommates inside the home survived.
Kohberger, then a criminology Ph.D. student at Washington State University, was apprehended by police in December 2022 based on DNA evidence, his white Hyundai Elantra and cellphone records, according to court documents.
Kohberger’s plea comes just weeks ahead of his trial, which was set to start in August. Prosecutors have said that they met with available members of victims’ families this past week to discuss potential options after Kohberger’s defense requested an offer.

A judge had previously entered “not guilty” pleas on Kohberger’s behalf to all counts. His defense team had also attempted to introduce evidence of a slate of alternative suspects, a move that a judge rejected.
“This resolution is our sincere attempt to seek justice for your family,” the prosecutors reportedly wrote in a letter to the victims’ family members. “This agreement ensures that the defendant will be convicted, will spend the rest of his life in prison, and will not be able to put you and the other families through the uncertainty of decades of post-conviction appeals.”

The relatives of Kaylee Goncalves, one of the victims, expressed anger at the development on Facebook on Monday.
For two decades, HuffPost has been fearless, unflinching, and relentless in pursuit of the truth. Support our mission to keep us around for the next 20 — we can't do this without you.
“It’s true! We are beyond furious at the State of Idaho. They have failed us. Please give us some time. This was very unexpected. We appreciate all your love and support,” read a post from The Goncalves Family Page.

Taraji P. Henson Sets Broadway Debut alongside Cedric the Entertainer With “Joe Turner’s Come And Gone”

Taraji P. Henson will make her Broadway debut in Joe Turner’s Come and Gone next spring alongside Cedric the Entertainer.
Taraji P. Henson is stepping onto Broadway for the first time next spring alongside Cedric the Entertainer in a revival of Joe Turner’s Come and Gone, a powerful drama by the late August Wilson that will be staged at a Shubert theater in New York.

The Hidden Figures star will portray Bertha Holly, a boarding house matriarch in 1911 Pittsburgh, while Cedric takes on the role of her husband, Seth.
The production, helmed by Debbie Allen and produced by Brian Anthony Moreland, marks Henson’s Broadway debut. Cedric previously appeared on Broadway in 2008’s American Buffalo.

The play, part of Wilson’s ten-part Pittsburgh Cycle, examines the lives of African Americans during the Great Migration. Its themes of displacement, identity and resilience remain timely more than a century after its setting.
Producer Brian Anthony Moreland called the opportunity to revisit Wilson’s work a privilege.
“We are truly honored to return to August Wilson’s legacy,” he said. “Joe Turner’s Come and Gone is Wilson’s seminal masterpiece — an unflinching exploration of pain, identity, and hope.”

Moreland added, “With Debbie Allen’s visionary direction and this extraordinary cast, the entire company will present a performance that resonates deeply and lingers in the hearts and minds of all who experience it.”
Moreland’s recent credits include The Piano Lesson, which starred Samuel L. Jackson, John David Washington and Danielle Brooks, as well as a staging of Othello featuring Denzel Washington and Jake Gyllenhaal.

The revival is set to open in spring 2026, with the exact Shubert venue to be announced.

Dwight Howard loses best friend in hit-and-run and asks for help in finding the culprit

Dwight Howard took to Instagram on Wednesday to share the heartbreaking news that his beloved dog, Sunday, was killed in what he described as a hit-and-run incident.

The tragedy occurred on June 18 in Suwanee, Georgia, where Howard currently resides.
Sunday, a loyal Belgian Malinois who was more than just a pet to the 38-year-old athlete, was allegedly struck by a vehicle that fled the scene.
Now, as Howard continues his basketball career in the BIG3 league, he finds himself seeking justice and mourning the loss of one of his closest companions.

"I need answers," Howard pleaded on Instagram. "And I won't stop searching until I find out what happened to my beautiful Sunday."
Howard, who played 18 seasons in the NBA and won a championship with the Los Angeles Lakers in 2020, has often shared glimpses of his life outside basketball with his fans.
But this loss has clearly shaken him deeply. Accompanying his emotional post were photos and videos of Sunday over the years.

Sunday was more than a pet
In a poignant tribute, Howard reflected on Sunday's unique role in his life.
"You were my peace. My protector. A reminder of everything beautiful and calm, just like those early Sunday mornings," Howard wrote.
"You were joy. You were warmth. You were my girl. And your life was cut short too soon."

The depth of Howard's grief shows how much Sunday meant to him, not simply as a guard dog or companion, but as a stabilizing presence during the ups and downs of life.
While the eight-time NBA All-Star has endured plenty on the court, he often found solace in his pets. Sunday, in particular, was frequently featured in his personal posts and behind-the-scenes content.
Following the tragic incident, Howard made it clear that he is determined to uncover what happened. He is appealing to the public for any information that could help identify the driver responsible for Sunday's death.

Howard's fans responded with compassion, flooding his comments section with words of comfort and encouragement.
One follower wrote: "My condolences, brother. Sunday was a beautiful dog. May you find the answers and have peace."
Others shared their own stories of losing pets, offering solidarity and emotional support.

Rihanna stuns at Smurfs premiere with her maternity moment

Rihanna transformed the Brussels red carpet into her personal runway on June 28, commanding attention at the Smurfs world premiere with a stunning display of maternity fashion. The Barbadian superstar, visibly pregnant with her third child, wore a custom Chanel creation that perfectly showcased her pregnancy glow while maintaining her signature high-fashion edge.

Standing alongside her partner A$AP Rocky, the couple presented a picture of contemporary celebrity elegance that reminded audiences why they have become fashion’s most watched duo. The premiere marked another significant moment in Rihanna’s remarkable ability to balance multiple creative ventures while embracing motherhood.
The evening’s standout element was Rihanna’s revolutionary approach to pregnancy fashion. Her custom Chanel ensemble featured strategic draping that celebrated rather than concealed her changing silhouette, establishing a new standard for expectant mothers in the spotlight.

Fashion insiders noted how Rihanna’s styling choices have consistently pushed boundaries throughout her career, from her groundbreaking Fenty Beauty launches to her revolutionary Savage X Fenty shows. This premiere appearance continued that trajectory, demonstrating how pregnancy can enhance rather than limit sartorial expression.

The singer’s confidence radiated through every photograph, reinforcing her status as a style innovator who refuses to conform to traditional expectations of maternity wear.
A$AP Rocky matched his partner’s fashion prowess in a meticulously tailored Louis Vuitton ensemble. The rapper has increasingly established himself as a menswear influencer, making their joint appearances highly anticipated fashion moments in entertainment circles.

Their relationship has evolved from a long-standing friendship into a romance that represents modern celebrity partnerships. Both artists maintain individual creative pursuits while supporting each other’s professional endeavors, creating a dynamic that resonates with contemporary audiences.

The couple has been traveling extensively across Europe, attending prestigious fashion events including Paris Fashion Week for Dior Homme’s collection just days before the Brussels premiere.
In Smurfs, Rihanna voices Smurfette, reimagined as a strong leadership figure on a mission to rescue Papa Smurf. This casting choice reflects the entertainment industry’s shift toward more dynamic female characters, with Rihanna’s distinctive vocal qualities bringing fresh energy to the beloved animated franchise.

Her involvement extends beyond voice acting, as she contributed original music to the project, including the track “Friend of Mine” on the official soundtrack. This dual contribution demonstrates Rihanna’s continued evolution as a multimedia entertainer.
While fans continue awaiting Rihanna‘s long-anticipated ninth studio album, her Smurfs soundtrack contribution provides a preview of her current musical direction. The track represents her first official release since her album Anti, making it particularly significant for her devoted fanbase.

Her strategic approach to music release has evolved significantly, with selective drops replacing traditional album cycles. This methodology allows her to maintain relevance while focusing on her diverse business ventures, including Fenty Beauty and Savage X Fenty.
The Brussels premiere reinforced Rihanna and A$AP Rocky’s position as one of entertainment’s most influential couples. Their coordinated fashion choices and natural chemistry have made them red-carpet favorites, with fashion publications eagerly documenting their appearances.

Their relationship includes two previous children together, making this third pregnancy a natural progression of their family journey. Both artists have prioritized family while maintaining professional commitments, creating a model for work-life balance.
As Smurfs prepares for its July 18 theatrical release, Rihanna’s promotional activities are expected to continue throughout the summer. Her ability to generate headlines through fashion choices alone ensures each appearance will be closely scrutinized by entertainment and fashion media.
The Brussels premiere served as another reminder of Rihanna’s unique position in contemporary culture, where music, fashion, beauty, and family intersect in ways that consistently captivate global audiences.

Vin Diesel Announces Fast & Furious Finale Release Date
The eleventh installment in the “Fast & Furious” franchise will be released in April 2027, and fans can expect Brian O’Conner — the character played by Paul Walker until his death in November 2013 – to return, Vin Diesel told fans at FuelFest in Los Angeles on Saturday.
Universal declined to comment, but the studio has not yet publicly confirmed a release date for the film.

The actor told the crowd he had spoken to Universal on Friday and was asked what it would take to bring the movie to fruition. His conditions were to “bring the franchise back to L.A.” and to “return to the car culture, to the street racing.”
“You wanna know what the third thing was?” Vin Diesel then asked to cheers. “Does anybody wanna know what the third thing was?”
As the cheers continued, he added, “The third thing was reuniting Dom and Brian O’Connor. That is what you’re gonna get the finale.” The actor did not elaborate.

Walker died in a car crash in November 2013.
A post shared on the actor’s Facebook page announced his death in 2013.
“He was a passenger in a friend’s car, in which both lost their lives,” the post read. “We appreciate your patience as we too are stunned and saddened beyond belief by this news. Thank you for keeping his family and friends in your prayers during this very difficult time. We will do our best to keep you apprised on where to send condolences. – #TeamPW.”

TMZ, which first reported the death, said the car slammed into a post or tree and burst into flames around 3:30 p.m. on November 30.
The franchise paid tribute to Paul Walker in 2015 with a final scene in “Furious 7.”

Why Keke Palmer regrets pulling plug on Jonathan Majors

Keke Palmer found herself defending her editorial choices after her production team shelved a completed podcast episode featuring embattled actor Jonathan Majors. The actress and television personality publicly criticized the decision during a recent appearance on Power 105.1 FM’s “The Breakfast Club,” igniting debate about media responsibility in Hollywood’s charged atmosphere.

The incident underscores the complex challenges facing entertainment media as they balance controversial content with audience expectations and ethical considerations.
Palmer’s podcast, “Baby, This Is Keke Palmer,” has established itself through authentic conversations with celebrities and public figures. The show’s format encourages guests to speak candidly, allowing audiences to form independent conclusions about personalities and topics discussed.

Palmer emphasized her dedication to remaining unbiased during the radio interview. She explained that meaningful conversation requires space for dialogue to exist, even when audiences may disagree with a guest’s actions or character. Her approach reflects a belief that authentic journalism involves presenting multiple perspectives rather than filtering content based on public sentiment.

The shelved episode was recorded in April, during Majors’ promotional tour for Magazine Dreams, an independent drama showcasing his performance as an obsessive bodybuilder. The timing proved problematic as the interview was completed shortly before serious allegations emerged against the actor.
Palmer’s production team cited potential backlash and sensitivity surrounding Majors’ legal situation as primary factors in their decision to pull the episode. The team worried about public reception and the appropriateness of platforming someone facing domestic violence allegations.

Palmer acknowledged these concerns while expressing frustration with the outcome. She stated that while she understood reasoning about audiences potentially not receiving value from the interview, she disagreed with completely silencing the conversation. The actress emphasized her commitment to respecting differing viewpoints while maintaining her belief in open dialogue’s importance.

Her position highlights a growing divide within media circles about whether controversial figures should receive platforms during active legal proceedings.
Majors exemplifies the rapid trajectory changes that characterize modern Hollywood careers. The Yale School of Drama graduate gained critical acclaim through performances in The Last Black Man in San Francisco and HBO’s Lovecraft Country, establishing himself as a promising talent.

His casting as Kang the Conqueror in Marvel’s cinematic universe represented a career pinnacle, positioning him as a central figure in future franchise storylines. However, domestic violence allegations dramatically altered his path. Marvel Studios terminated their relationship, and Magazine Dreams faced distribution challenges despite positive festival reception.
During her radio appearance, Palmer addressed criticism of comparisons she made while discussing the situation. She clarified that she was not equating Majors with more extreme criminal cases but rather emphasizing the principle of allowing dialogue regardless of uncomfortable subject matter.

The clarification demonstrates Palmer‘s attempt to balance advocating for open conversation while acknowledging the serious nature of allegations against her intended guest. Her approach reflects broader questions about accountability, redemption, and media’s role in shaping public discourse.
Palmer‘s experience illustrates complex decisions facing content creators when public opinion can rapidly impact careers. The entertainment industry increasingly grapples with questions about when and how to engage with controversial figures.

Some observers argue that Palmer’s commitment to dialogue represents responsible journalism enabling informed audience decisions. Others contend that providing platforms to individuals facing serious allegations can minimize victims’ experiences or normalize problematic behavior.
Despite disappointment over the shelved episode, Palmer remains optimistic about eventually releasing the conversation. She suggested that timing and context might eventually align to make the content viable for public consumption.

Her experience serves as a case study for media personalities navigating similar challenges. As entertainment industry standards continue evolving around controversial content, Palmer’s stance on maintaining dialogue while respecting concerns offers one approach to these difficult decisions.
The situation extends beyond individual cases, touching on fundamental questions about media responsibility and conversation’s role in processing complex social issues.

‘Devil Wears Prada 2’ Starts Filming With Meryl Streep, Anne Hathaway, Emily Blunt and Stanley Tucci Returning; Kenneth Branagh Joins Cast
Gird your loins: Meryl Streep, Anne Hathaway, Emily Blunt and Stanley Tucci are officially set to return for “The Devil Wears Prada 2,” which has now started production.
In addition to the stars of the original 2006 film, Kenneth Branagh will join the cast as the husband of Miranda Presley (Streep), the demanding editor-in-chief of Runway magazine. Disney’s 20th Century Studios confirmed the news on Instagram, sharing only a teaser of two devilish red pumps.

Based on Lauren Weisberger’s 2004 novel, “The Devil Wears Prada” follows aspiring journalist Andy Sachs (Hathaway) who is hired at a glossy fashion magazine (it’s a job a million girls “would kill” to get!) but finds herself at the mercy of her demanding editor-in-chief. The dishy book is a roman à clef; Weisberger briefly worked as Anna Wintour’s assistant at Vogue. In especially timely news, Wintour announced last week her plans to down as American Vogue’s editor-in-chief after 37 years.
Plot details for the sequel haven’t been confirmed, but the storyline reportedly follows Miranda Priestly as she navigates her career amid the decline of traditional magazine publishing. She faces off against Blunt’s character, her one-time assistant who is now a high-powered executive for a luxury group with advertising dollars that Priestly desperately needs. It’s not clear how Hathway’s Andy Sachs will factor into the story; at the end of the first film, she quits Runway and takes a job at a newspaper. David Frankel and Aline Brosh McKenna, who directed and wrote the original film, are returning for the sequel. Producer Karen Rosenfelt also returns.

“The Devil Wears Prada 2” will open in theaters on May 1, 2026.

Why Raven-Symoné and Wife Miranda Pearman-Maday Sleep in Separate Bedrooms

Raven-Symoné and wife Miranda Pearman-Maday call this popular routine magic. Indeed, the couple—who tied the knot in 2020 after five years of dating—revealed the nighttime hack that’s helped strengthen their relationship: sleeping in separate bedrooms.
“Honestly, there were many reasons,” Miranda, 37, said during their June 26 appearance on the Jeff Lewis Live radio show. “Raven is a crazy sleeper and she would keep me up at night. She kicks, tosses, and breathes.”
Miranda specifically noted that her wife’s sleeping habits interfered with her detailed routine.
“It’s the hair, the humidifier, the curtains, the way she lays in the bed with red light systems on her whole entire body,” Raven explained, before sharing her own toned-down ritual that helps her to sleep. “I’m in bed on TikTok. My legs are spread all the way open, half naked.”

Though the duo might have a niche sleeping arrangement, they will always be a united front—especially when they’re faced with backlash. In fact, the That’s So Raven star defended Miranda from “death threats” last May, following her revelation that she didn’t watch any of Raven’s iconic projects growing up.
Raven’s response seemed to calm the negative criticism, and later that month, the 39-year-old explained why she stood up for her wife.
“It was so important because my wife didn’t deserve the backlash that she was receiving,” the Cheetah Girls star told E News in a May 2024 interview. “She didn’t say anything offensive to a culture or me or herself, and they were miscategorizing her, period.”

Miranda noted that while critics will “always” have “opinions” about their relationship, she’ll always be Raven’s biggest supporter—even if she was late to the That’s So Raven club.
"I love Raven," Miranda added. “I support Raven. I love That's So Raven. I've seen it all. I've seen everything she’s done. And now, if people are going to continue that conversation, at least they know that they're falling into a false narrative and they're basically just perpetuating gossip.”

Quinta Brunson Calls 'Abbott Elementary' 'Time Consuming', Cast Members Want to Do Other Projects

Quinta Brunson is opening up about Abbott Elementary‘s complicated filming schedule.
The 35-year-old actress and creator of the ABC show spoke to Bustle about the series recently.
According to Quinta, the show’s long filming schedule has made pursuing other projects difficult for some of the cast members.
In the Bustle cover interview, Quinta opened up about the success of the show and her plans for the future of her career.

“That being said, I have cast members who would love to pursue other projects, and our show is very time-consuming. We shoot about seven months out of the year. That can stop people from being able to do a lot of other things,” Quinta shared of the other cast members, adding that they all feel extremely lucky to still have a dedicated fanbase five seasons into the show.

As for her own career, Quinta shared that she would like to play a new kind of character that’s unlike Janine on Abbott Elementary.
“Right now, I’m receiving scripts, and waiting for that moment that feels like, ‘Oh man, this is exactly what I’ve been looking for.’ Abbott has been so successful, and I want to use that success to get other people’s projects off the ground,” Quinta told Bustle.
She went on to talk about future roles and said, “I’m always interested in playing against type. I think that’s any actor’s dream. Right now my type is ‘Janine’ and ‘teacher.’ I’m looking forward to moving away from that a little bit.”

Young girl, dad rescued after falling overboard from Disney cruise: Passengers

The Disney Dream cruise ship docked this morning in South Florida, after a father and daughter went overboard, according to passengers. NBC6’s Julia Bagg reports.
A young girl and her father were rescued after going overboard from a Disney cruise on Sunday, according to passengers who spoke to NBC News.

The girl, whose age was not immediately known, fell from the fourth floor deck of the ship despite the plexiglass safety barriers, the TODAY show reported.
One witness described the “horrific" scene, saying the child fell from a railing.
"She was sitting on the rail, and he wanted to take a picture, and she fell off," Gar Frantz said. "We were just on that deck. And then you saw them throwing, like, life jackets over the sides and stuff.”

Another passenger, Damali Hepburn, said she was told by a crew member that her father jumped in after her.
"We spoke to one of the crew members, and she said that the little girl was in the area she wasn’t supposed to be in, and she fell," Hepburn said. "And her father jumped in after her. And the mother said there was one person in the water, but there were two people in the water. So that’s why they had to turn around and and go back for him."

Gail Merrick recalled a commotion."We noticed a bunch of staff running outside and we thought there was some type of emergency," she said. "We were watching, you know, with bated breath basically, waiting for what would happen. We saw the rescue boat circling around. Our boat did turn around, so we did do a U-turn."

They did not confirm their names, ages or what caused the fall.
The ship docked at Port Everglades on Monday morning after setting sail for the Bahamas on June 26, according to CruiseMapper.
Several passengers aboard the ship praised the crew for their fast response and quick thinking.
"It was really fast, the boat moved into action right away, and thankfully it was a positive outcome," Merrick said. "Such a sigh of relief, I mean it's a parent's biggest nightmare."

Others said they heard an announcement from the ship's command that the rescue efforts worked.
"The captain announced it and said thankfully everybody was good," Jeanie Mikanowicz said.
The statement from Disney Cruise Line went on to say: "We commend our Crew Members for their exceptional skills and prompt actions, which ensured the safe return of both guests to the ship within minutes. We are committed to the safety and well-being of our guests, and this incident highlights the effectiveness of our safety protocols."

Lady Gaga Never Asked for $6 Million to Perform at Bezos Wedding, Insider Says

A source close to Lady Gaga is clarifying a report that claimed she asked for a $6 million fee to perform at Jeff Bezos and Lauren Sanchez’s wedding.
The Amazon founder tied the knot with Lauren last week in Venice, Italy and it has reported that the multi-day event cost over $50 million.

A report claimed that Bezos asked both Gaga and Elton John to perform at the wedding, but it was alleged that they both demanded $6 million apiece to perform, which the couple turned down.
Now, an insider says the report is completely false.
TMZ reports that “neither Elton nor Gaga was even approached to play the wedding — let alone demand such a gigantic fee.”

The wedding featured performances from Ellie Goulding and Matteo Bocelli.

Vera Wang, 76, Wears Daring Black Minidress as She Celebrates ‘Yet Another Big Birthday’
Vera Wang celebrated her 76th birthday on Friday, June 27, with a trip to Paris
On Instagram, the fashion designer shared several photos of her celebrations, including a meal at Le Relais Plaza where she wowed in a stylish black minidress

“A SMALLISH CAKE for yet another BIG BIRTHDAY…. 🙂🙃🎂👏🖤," she captioned snaps of her blowing out candles at the venue
Vera Wang is embracing Parisian style on her 76th birthday!

After traveling to Paris to celebrate her birthday on Friday, June 27, the fashion icon shared several glimpses of her celebrations on Instagram. She began by posting a photo of the fruit basket and flowers that she received as a welcome after arriving at Hotel Plaza Athenee.

Wang teased that she was going out for multiple meals during her time in the European city in the caption of her following photo, which showed her wearing denim pants, a floral jacket and platform boots. A day later, she enjoyed a “rare event” — breakfast in bed — before putting on a jersey and black pants to admire the view from her balcony.

The bridal wear designer’s main event was an evening spent at the stylish restaurant Le Relais Plaza. For the occasion, she wowed in a black minidress teamed with knee-high boots. As an extra touch, Wang painted her age in glitter on her arm. She kept her signature waist-length hair straight and opted for minimal makeup.
“Just celebrating my 75 9/10 - 76th birthday NEW YORK TIME with my Parisian crew and a few others who have been lifelong besties! Thank you all for this special night! 🖤🇫🇷🎂” she captioned a trio of photos of her walking into the venue.

Despite her celebrations coming amid Paris Fashion Week, Vetement’s creative director Guram Gvasalia was among those who took time to attend.
Wang shared four photos alongside him, captioned, “FINALLY… Guram, in the same city at the same time…. so happy to see you and Kirill for my birthday!🎂😌👏🇫🇷”

She appeared in good spirits throughout the extravaganza, which involved indulging in cocktails and wine before being presented with a birthday cake topped with candles and her age.

“A SMALLISH CAKE for yet another BIG BIRTHDAY…. 🙂🙃🎂👏🖤” Wang captioned snaps of her blowing out the candles.
The style expert also shared a photo of the “perfect summer” menu that she and her friends enjoyed, which included cod, mushrooms and a minute floating island for dessert.

After the celebrations, Wang was showered with gifts ranging from sweet treats and flower bouquets to designer sunglasses. “Merci a tous !!! 🖤🖤🖤” she captioned a photo of the items.
Wang’s birthday comes after she recently mentioned her age while speaking exclusively to PEOPLE about her Vera Wang Love Eau De Parfum.
The fragrance is sold in a bottle shaped like a diamond ring to evoke a sense of romance, while having a “feminine and confident” amber floral scent. At a time where studies report that marriage is declining, Wang said love is needed.

“I think it's because my age,” Wang told PEOPLE. “I've experienced not only a lot of fashion, needless to say when you look at my resumé, but I think I've experienced a lot of humanity. And I have to say that I see, now more than ever, that there is a need for this.”
