#NewMusic from Ari Lennox “Vacancy” (Produced by Jermaine Dupri & Bryan-Michael Cox)
R&B singer-songwriter Ari Lennox has released her new single, “Vacancy,” on Friday, September 26, 2025. The track is an R&B-infused song filled with double entendres about a love interest.
“Vacancy,” is a smooth, mid-tempo R&B track that leans into a classic, ’70s-inspired sound. The production, handled by Jermaine Dupri, Bryan-Michael Cox, and BoogzDaBeast, is lush and intimate, featuring a silky instrumental and subtle horn arrangements that create a sensual atmosphere.
Lyrically, the song is a confident and direct invitation to a lover. The central theme revolves around a “vacancy” that Lennox wants to be filled, using clever double entendres and metaphors to convey her desire for intimacy and connection. She sings, “I want you to fill this vacancy / Come through, ooh baby,” and “I got some walls that need paintin’, rearrangin’ / See them legs on the table, kind of shaky / Got some pipes that be leakin’, do you see it?” The lyrics are both playful and explicit, a signature style for Lennox, and they perfectly complement the song’s slow-burning, seductive groove.

The single follows Lennox’s previous release, “Soft Girl Era,” and is described by critics as a smooth, confident addition to her discography. “Vacancy” is her first significant release in months and is expected to appear on her upcoming project.
The new song also comes amid reports that Lennox has parted ways with her longtime label, Dreamville, and is now operating under Interscope Records.
#HipHopNews: Cardi B's AM I THE DRAMA? is #1 at Billboard with 200K sold

Cardi B just shut the entire music industry down. Her second album, AM I THE DRAMA?, entered the Billboard 200 and claimed the No. 1 position with 200,000 units, including a staggering 88,000 pure sales. That ain’t just a win for Cardi, that’s a win for every woman rapper who’ve ever been told they could never top the charts without a man’s stamp of approval.
This makes Cardi the first female rapper in history to see her first two albums debut at No. 1. Sis did that with Invasion of Privacy, and seven years later, she did it again. That’s called consistency, longevity, and straight-up domination.
AM I THE DRAMA didn’t just debut at No.1, it also registered the biggest first-week U.S. sales ever for any woman rap album in the year 2025. Cardi is no longer included in the dialogue, she defines the dialogue.
In true Cardi fashion, the star celebrated the milestone this weekend, being the ultimate humblebrag. On X (previously Twitter), she posted:
“Thank you sooo much everybody that supported my album!! Two weeks ago the album was projected to do 115k off of Outside and Imaginary Players.. I didn’t know what the outcome was gonna be I didn’t put out a album in 7 years and haven’t put out as much music in the last year but we just surpassed all that expectation… Thank you to everyone who gave the album a listen, did a video to the songs and everything!! You don’t know the confidence and boost you gave me in my music to keep pushing.. I can’t wait to see you guys on tour. Tonight we celebrate!!! I can’t pop no champagne… but maybe I can open up some cranberry juice or something!”
And that is why Cardi is still winning. She is a superstar who doesn’t flinch from the nerves, the uncertainty, the gratitude. Hip-hop is based on truth, and Cardi has never stopped delivering hers.
Cardi now comfortably ranks second behind Nicki Minaj, and the two Bronx natives collectively have redefined the story of what female rap is capable of commercially. They’ve shown there’s no limit, no barrier, no other outcomes than bars, bops, and fanbases that are worth billions.
Bad Bunny to Play 2026 Super Bowl Halftime Show
Bad Bunny will perform the halftime show at Super Bowl LX in Santa Clara, California on Sunday, February 8, 2026. The news arrived during tonight’s (September 28) Sunday Night Football game between the Green Bay Packers and the Dallas Cowboys.
“What I’m feeling goes beyond myself,” Bad Bunny said in a statement to Billboard. “It’s for those who came before me and ran countless yards so I could come in and score a touchdown… this is for my people, my culture and our history. Ve y dile a tu abuela, que seremos el HALFTIME SHOW DEL SUPER BOWL.”
In a statement to Variety, Roc Nation founder Jay-Z added, “What Benito has done and continues to do for Puerto Rico is truly inspiring.” His company has partnered with the NFL in booking the Super Bowl halftime show since 2019.
Super Bowl LX takes place at Santa Clara’s Levi’s Stadium. Apple Music is the halftime show’s presenting sponsor, so the 2026 event is formally known as the Apple Music Super Bowl LIX Halftime Show.
Bad Bunny shared his latest album, Debí Tirar Más Fotos, in January. The Puerto Rican superstar has since made his third appearance as Saturday Night Live’s musical guest and staged a 30-show concert residency in San Juan. His upcoming world tour in support of Debí Tirar Más Fotos kicks off in November and is set to run through July 2026, with no stops in the United states currently planned. That means Bad Bunny’s halftime show will be his only stateside performance for the forseeable future.
“[Estuve] pensando en estos días, y luego de hablarlo con mi equipo, creo que haré una sola fecha en Estados Unidos,” Bad Bunny wrote in an X post prior to the announcement. Translated, it reads: “I've been thinking about it these days, and after discussing it with my team, I think I'll do just one date in the United States.”
This past February, in New Orleans, Kendrick Lamar played the Super Bowl LIX halftime show, becoming the first rapper to headline the event as a solo artist. During his set, Lamar brought out Samuel L. Jackson, SZA, Serena Williams, and Mustard. He also repeatedly dissed Drake to camera. A performer in the show was detained and subsequently arrested months later for unfurling a Sudanese-Palestinian flag during the performance.
#BoxOfficeNews: Leonardo DiCaprio’s ‘One Battle After Another’ Wins the Weekend With $22 Million

Director Paul Thomas Anderson’s comedic action thriller “One Battle After Another” topped box office charts in its debut, collecting $22.4 million from 3,634 North American theaters over the weekend. The film, starring Leonardo DiCaprio as an ex-revolutionary on the run, added another $26.1 million internationally for a global tally of $48.5 million.
Box office experts are mixed on what to make of those initial results. A low $20 million debut is disappointing for a film that cost above $130 million to produce and another $70 million to market. And “One Battle After Another” certainly requires a huge turnout — roughly $300 million globally — to break even theatrically. That’s because ticket sales are typically split 50-50 between studios and theater operators.
But the R-rated film is original (and nearly three hours long) and doesn’t enjoy the built-in audience that benefits franchise fare like “Superman” or “Jurassic World: Rebirth.” Building excitement (and getting people to buy a ticket) can take time. Moreover, Warner Bros. keeps defying box office expectations, generating hits of all shapes and sizes from the kid-centric “A Minecraft Movie” and “Superman” to the not-so-family-friendly “Sinners,” “Weapons” and “The Conjuring: Last Rites” since April.
“This movie has a chance of getting to profitability if it lasts long enough in theaters and/or overperforms abroad,” says David A. Gross, who runs the movie consulting firm Franchise Entertainment Research. “It’s going to get a lot of awards nominations, but that’s two to three months away and unlikely to help this immediate release.”
Positive word-of-mouth is key to inspiring the level of staying power that’ll be needed to justify the studio’s sky-high expenses. In that regard, “One Battle After Another” has been rapturously received by audiences (scoring an “A” grade on CinemaScore exit polls) and critics (a 96% Rotten Tomatoes average), which should be a good sign for its theatrical run. Premium large formats like Imax, Dolby and VistaVision, which cost more than the average ticket, will also help bolster its earnings. Those larger-than-life screens contributed a massive 51% of the overall domestic tally, according to Warner Bros.
“One Battle After Another” will test DiCaprio’s box office bankability. (Although Anderson, the director of “Boogie Nights,” “Magnolia” and “The Master,” is considered one of the greatest filmmakers of his generation, his movies aren’t usually commercial draws. For context, Anderson’s highest-grossing film is 2007’s “There Will Be Blood,” which earned $76.4 million globally.) DiCaprio, an A-lister who has proven his theatrical bona fides with “Titanic,” “Inception” and “The Revenant,” was most recently on screen in 2023’s “Killers of the Flower Moon.” That film, directed by Martin Scorsese and co-starring Robert De Niro, opened to $23 million and ended its run with $68 million domestically and $158 million globally.
Will “One Battle After Another,” which opened below “Killers of the Flower Moon,” ultimately prove to be the more commercial offering? Loosely inspired by Thomas Pynchon’s 1990 novel “Vineland,” DiCaprio stars in “One Battle After Another” as Bob Ferguson, a washed-up revolutionary who’s living off the grid with his daughter, Willa (newcomer Chase Infiniti), until an enemy (played by Sean Penn) resurfaces and threatens to split up the family. Initial ticket buyers were predominantly male (65%) and over the age of 25 (42%).
“One Battle After Another” loomed over two fellow new releases, Universal’s kid-friendly “Gabby’s Dollhouse: The Movie” and Lionsgate’s R-rated slasher “The Strangers: Chapter 2.”
“Gabby’s Dollhouse” debuted in second place with $13.5 million from 3,500 North American theaters, squarely in line with projections. The G-rated film, based on the hit Netflix series aimed at pre-schoolers, earned a coveted “A+” grade on CinemaScore exit polls, which could extend its theatrical life. Universal spent $32 million on production costs.
“The Strangers: Chapter 2” landed at No. 5 with a tepid $5.9 million from 2,650 theaters in its first weekend of release. That’s far below the prior installment in the series, “The Strangers: Chapter 1.” The first slasher reboot launched to $12 million in 2024 and ultimately earned $48 million globally. Although the sequel is unlikely to near those box office heights, the film cost just $8.5 million to produce.
That’s a relief for Lionsgate because reviews and word-of-mouth likely won’t help the film stick around on the big screen. “The Strangers: Chapter 2” was panned by audiences and critics, who saddled the movie with a “C-” grade on CinemaScore and a brutal 18% on Rotten Tomatoes. Renny Harlin directed the follow-up, which brings back the masked maniacs at the center of the first installment. When they discover that one of their victims (Madelaine Petsch) is still alive, they return to finish the job.
“Reviews are poor; that’s not a big deal for horror,” says Gross. “But the audience score is also weak, even for the genre.”
Sony’s anime smash “Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba Infinity Castle” and “The Conjuring: Last Rites” rounded out the top five.
A major sleeper hit, “Demon Slayer” has generated $118.1 million domestically after three weekends to stand as the biggest anime release ever in North America. And business has been even bigger overseas with $487.3 million for a monster global tally of $605.4 million.
“Conjuring” landed at the No. 4 spot with $6.9 million. The paranormal sequel is also breaking records with $161.5 million domestically and $435 million globally, by far the biggest installment in the long-running franchise.
Meanwhile, last weekend’s new offerings, Universal’s “Him” and Sony’s “A Big Bold Beautiful Journey,” collapsed in their second outings. “Him,” a sports thriller produced by Jordan Peele, collected $3.8 million, a painful 71% decline from its debut. Ticket sales stand at $20.9 million domestically and $21 million globally. “A Big Bold Beautiful Journey,” a romantic drama starring Margot Robbie and Colin Farrell, tumbled all the way to 10th place with $1.2 million, plunging 63% from last weekend. So far, “A Big Bold Beautiful Journey” has earned $5.8 million in North America and $8 million overseas against a $45 million budget.
Tina Turner Statue Unveiled In Nutbush Tennessee
The statue's unveiling was part of the city's Tina Turner Heritage Days, which celebrates the early life of the singer.
Tina Turner has quietly been honored in her hometown of Brownsville, Tennessee, for the past decade but on Sept. 27, the Rock ‘n’ Roll legend received another honor, this one cast in bronze.
According to Billboard, Turner’s statue sits near her old high school, Carver High School, in close proximity to the community of Nutbush, where she grew up, in Heritage Park, located across the street from the high school.
Turner’s sculpture was designed by the Atlanta-based, world-famous artist Fred Ajanogha, who aimed to capture her signature wild hair and flexible movement through the statue’s posing.
Before Turner died on May 24, 2023, she immortalized Nutbush through her hit song “Nutbush City Limits,” and left her imprint on the American music scene through other hit songs such as “Proud Mary,” “Private Dancer,” and arguably her most well known song that became the title of an Angela Bassett-led film, “What’s Love Got To Do With It,” that recounted her tumultuous and abusive marriage to Ike Turner.
Turner’s long career earned her a long list of admirers, from Rolling Stones frontman Mick Jagger to ’90’s R&B icon Mariah Carey to Beyoncé and the affectionately bestowed title of the Queen of Rock ‘n’ Roll, a royal title she also shared with Little Richard, who was alternatively known as the Real King of Rock ‘n’ Roll.
The statue’s unveiling was part of the city’s Tina Turner Heritage Days, which celebrates the early life of the singer, before she left the city as a teenager to pursue her dreams as a recording artist.
Karen Cook, friends with one of Turner’s cousins, traveled from Georgia to attend the event, which she said reminded her of listening to Turner with her mother.
“She’s a great artist, I love her music,” Cook told the outlet. “My mom listened to her a lot. It’s a big deal and a great thing for the community to have Tina Turner in her small town.”
According to Marianne Dunavant, community relations manager with the Ford Motor Company, their $150,000 contribution towards the statue’s construction is part of their commitment to listening to the voices of the local community.
“We want to preserve history for our youth, right, so when we’re no longer here these statues will still tell that story and remember that Tina Turner came from this community and we want our young people to know that they can do anything they want and thrive too,” she told WBBJ 7 Eyewitness News.
Currently, a jukebox musical, “Tina: The Tina Turner Musical,” is touring across the country, after taking a brief hiatus to recast. The play is directed by Phyllida Lloyd and was written by Pulitzer Prize-winner Katori Hall along with Frank Ketelaar and Kees Prins.
The original Broadway run of the production, which starred Adrienne Warren in the titular role opened in 2019, and Turner was kind enough to give the budding starlet some advice, even if she was wary of yet another depiction of her life for an audience.
In an op-ed for Rolling Stone, Turner was, well, Tina Turner, as she explained how it all came to be.
“My life has been quite a story. The story of a little girl who grew up with big ambitions; the story of a naive young woman who entered into a troubled marriage with nothing but her voice and her dreams and who escaped — just barely — with nothing but her voice and her dreams; the story of a middle-aged singer with strong winds against her who found success and true love with the man she never thought she’d meet. I thought about that, and of all the people who tell me that my story gives them hope and is my legacy, and I said, “Yes.” Then, I sat back to watch director Phyllida Lloyd and writer Katori Hall do what they do best.”
Turner continued, offering high praise to Warren. “She took it all in, worked harder than hard, and stepped into the shoes. She transformed herself into the person she needed to be. With every note and every move of her hips, Adrienne is pure Tina. She has my admiration and my blessing. In fact, I like to say that I want to thank her parents because now that she’s onstage, I can truly retire.”
Chaka Khan To Be Honored At Inaugural Beauty Icon Awards In Atlanta

This fall, Bronner Bros. is teaming up with Vivace and Red by KISS to spotlight the brilliance of Black beauty, honoring its trailblazers with the debut of the Beauty Icon Awards.
On Saturday, October 11, 2025, the Bronner Center of Performing Arts (Riverside EpiCenter) in Atlanta will transform into the ultimate stage for the first-ever Beauty Icon Awards. It’s being described as “a live museum of beauty over the decades.”
The night will be hosted by television personality Segun Oduolowu and bring together celebrities, cultural tastemakers, and industry leaders for a celebration to remember.
At the center of it all is the legendary Chaka Khan, who will be honored with the inaugural Beauty Icon Award in recognition of a career that has inspired and empowered generations far beyond the music.
Executive Producer Kelly Keith says honoring Khan was an obvious choice for the inaugural award. “Honoring Chaka Khan with the Beauty Icon Award feels natural. Her music and presence have empowered generations,” Keith explained.
She added that it’s not just about the music, but the way Khan has carried herself over decades.
“Her fearless style redefined beauty on her own terms. She is the embodiment of a beauty icon.”
For Keith, the awards are about more than one legendary figure. “The Beauty Icon Awards is our love letter to beauty, celebrating the founders, artists, and innovators who built an industry, shaped culture, and set the standard for style and excellence.”
In addition to celebrating Khan, the awards will also salute a powerful lineup of trailblazers who’ve shaped beauty, style, and culture. Among this year’s honorees are June Ambrose, Jesseca Harris-Dupart, and Cliff Vmir, the celebrity hairstylist turned entrepreneur behind Femme Haircare.
For Ivan Chae, Senior Director at KISS USA, beauty has always carried a deeper meaning.
“At Vivace, by KISS, beauty is about more than style. It’s culture, creativity, and community,” he shared.
For Chae, the collaboration with Bronner Bros. felt like a perfect fit.
“Partnering with Bronner Bros. to honor icons who shape the future of beauty is both an honor and a commitment to the innovation that inspires us all.”

Chicago Federal Immigration Enforcement Sparks Concerns Amid Downtown Patrols
Federal immigration agents were seen throughout downtown Chicago over the weekend, with operations drawing criticism from city leaders and immigrant advocates. Dozens of agents, including border patrol officers, patrolled on foot and by boat along the Chicago River.
According to ABC 7 Chicago, Mayor Brandon Johnson called the heightened enforcement a brazen provocation that does nothing to improve public safety. Videos circulating online show individuals evading ICE agents, while at Millennium Park, agents appeared to detain a woman and multiple children. Outside Catholic Charities in River North, one man was seen being detained.
Democratic Rep. Jesus “Chuy” Garcia condemned the operations, saying, “They showed up downtown to indiscriminately continue to profile against people just because of what they look like.” Local advocates described the deployment as fear tactics targeting immigrant communities.
Governor JB Pritzker is expected to respond Monday to the federal enforcement measures. It remains unclear whether additional patrols will be conducted downtown.
The Department of Homeland Security defended the actions on social media, stating, “DHS under @Sec_Noem will NOT back down. We will not rest until every violent terrorist, thug is arrested.” The post also cited former President Donald Trump and Secretary Noem, saying they will return “LAW AND ORDER to our streets.”
The downtown operations highlight ongoing tension between federal immigration authorities and local officials who argue such measures disproportionately target communities of color while doing little to address broader public safety concerns.

Phoenix Mercury Rally Past Minnesota Lynx to Reach WNBA Finals

The Phoenix Mercury overcame a 13-point fourth-quarter deficit to beat the Minnesota Lynx 86-81 in Game 4 on Sunday, advancing to the WNBA Finals for the first time since 2021. Alyssa Thomas led the Mercury with 23 points, while DeWanna Bonner’s two clutch three-pointers in the final minutes sealed the victory.
Phoenix pulled within one at 70-69 on Sami Whitcomb’s three-pointer with under five minutes left. Bonner hit another three to give the Mercury a 77-73 lead, finishing the fourth quarter with 11 points during a 31-point outburst. Satou Sabally added 21 points, and coach Nate Tibbets praised the team’s defensive resilience and execution under pressure.
Minnesota, playing without coach Cheryl Reeve and All-Star guard Napheesa Collier, struggled down the stretch. Kayla McBride scored 31 points, including six second-half three-pointers, while Courtney Williams added 20. Lynx associate head coach Eric Thibault credited Phoenix’s fourth-quarter defense for the comeback.
Phoenix’s Kahleah Copper hit a key three-pointer in the third quarter to briefly take the lead before Minnesota rallied with a 23-9 run. Thomas’ halftime layup tied the game at 38, setting the stage for the Mercury’s decisive late-game performance.
The Mercury will now await the winner of the Indiana-Las Vegas series, which is tied 2-2 heading into a Game 5 in Las Vegas on Tuesday. Indiana defeated Las Vegas 90-83 on Sunday behind Aliyah Boston’s 24 points and 14 rebounds and Kelsey Mitchell’s 25 points. Boston and Mitchell led Indiana to their third consecutive elimination-game victory, extending the best-of-five series to a winner-take-all showdown.
Phoenix enters the WNBA Finals with just two returning players from 2024, marking the first team in league history to reach the Finals twice in five years with nearly a completely new roster. The Mercury will aim for their first championship since 2014.

Faith Evans wrote her first album as a “love letter” to The Notorious B.I.G.
During an interview with ABC News Evans spoke the romance that sparked her debut project.
“My first album was absolutely a testament, a love letter, to B.I.G.,” admitted Evans about the project, which is celebrating its 30th anniversary this year. “It was the story of our relationship at the time.”
Released in 1995, Faith featured several her hit songs including “Soon as I Get Home” and “You Used To Love Me.”
In an nterview in 2011, the late Chucky Thompson, who produced much of Faith, shared how the track “You Don’t Understand” was inspired by Biggie.
“Her and BIG, I guess figured out what they were doing with their relationship and she was going through a rough patch,” Thompsonad said. “It was a situation where she wasn’t really liking him at first. They got married, he went on tour, now she is in love, then she is hurt. She is now going through all these feelings, and that’s where the other song came, ‘You Don’t Understand.’”
Elsewhere in the interview, Evans spoke about how her son Ryder Russaw,18, is on the autism spectrum.
“I met a parent just before we even had a diagnosis, and she was like ‘Well, have you had an IEP [Individualized Education Program for a child with a disability] yet?’,” Evans recalled. “And I hadn’t.”
“You feel like you’re alone in a lot of those moments. Because there’s some moments I’ve had where it’s like, ‘Oh my God.’ But then I gotta just keep it moving,”
To raise awarness, Evans founded Ryder’s Room Inc. The Non-Profit seeks to help other families access tools and resources to support loved ones with autism. Their inaugural Ryder’s Room Gala was held on Saturday, September 27 at The Newark Museum of Art.
Guest at the gala included MC Lyte, Mike Epps, Christoper Williams, Redman, Avery Wilson,Freeway and Lil’ Cease.

The Game and Shaniece Hairston Celebrate Son’s First Birthday
The Game and Shanice Hairston’s son, Blaze Taylor, made one year around the sun and his parents celebrated with an out of this world party.
Over the weekend, the pair hosted a space-themed birthday bash for Blaze. In the clips, the rapper and internet personality could be seen leading the crowd in the “Happy Birthday” song for the adorable celebrant.
As BackOnline reports, the party featured a sky-blue two-tiered cake decorated with tiny astronauts, rockets, metallic stars, and fondant planets that looked like they were floating in orbit.
Earlier in the week, grandmother Evelzyn Lozada wrote a sweet message on Blaze’s actual birthday.
“Happy 1st Birthday to my grandson Blaze! God knew exactly what my heart needed when He brought you into this world. I can’t believe you’re already ONE! You are so funny, so sweet, and you have no idea how much joy you’ve brought into your grandma’s life, my little bestie!” she wrote
In May, Hairston got candid with the listeners of her ‘Drop the Lo‘ podcast episode, co-hosted with her mom, Lozada. While chatting with guest Anansa Sims, Hairston revealed she’s navigating life as a single mom, sharing her struggles with dating as a new mother.
“I’m now a single mom, and my big thing now that I’m a mom, I think it was just such an insecurity of dating as a mom,” she said, signaling she and The Game are not together.
Hairston revealed she was expecting her first child in June 2024.
The Game shares eldest son, Harlem Caron, 22, with Aleska Jordan. He shares son King Justice, 18, and daughter Cali Dream, 14, with Tiffney Cambridge.

Devoted Trump Supporter Opens Fire in Michigan Church, Kills 4 and Sets Building Ablaze

A Michigan community was rocked by a senseless mass shooting at a Mormon church. Now, authorities believe the gunman may have been a devoted Trump supporter.
Forty-year-old Thomas Jacob Sanford stormed into the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Grand Blanc Township on Sunday morning, ramming his truck through the doors, opening fire on worshippers, and setting the building ablaze. Four people were killed, eight were wounded, and Sanford was fatally shot by police minutes later, The Guardian confirms.
Investigators found signs of political allegiance. A large Trump sign was displayed on a shed at Sanford’s home in Burton, just 15 minutes away. A Facebook photo shows him wearing a “Re-elect Trump 2020” shirt with the phrase “Make Liberals Cry Again” alongside his wife and son.
“There is still a lot to learn,” Donald Trump said on Truth Social. “This appears to be yet another targeted attack on Christians in the United States of America.”
The FBI labeled the assault “an act of targeted violence” but offered no further explanation. Michigan State Police warned against jumping to conclusions, stating, “Any speculation about why the attack was carried out is exactly what it is — a speculation.”
White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt said, “All they know right now is this was an individual who hated people of the Mormon faith.”
Sanford, a Marine veteran who served in Iraq, had no party affiliation listed but had signed petitions opposing COVID emergency powers and supporting anti-abortion legislation.
He was killed in the church parking lot about eight minutes after the rampage began. The church, which served 150 members, was completely destroyed. The motive remains unclear, but the community is left grappling with the devastation he left behind.
